Great job on your first jam Noam! My favorite thing about this game is the graphics. They're beautiful and fit very well with the mood you guys were going for. The movement mechanics felt very smooth for the most part. Only thing I noticed was that you could kind of hold onto the side of blocks and keep jumping up. Not sure if that was an intended feature or not. I'd love to see the game with more features and levels. But for the time permitted, you all did a pretty good job imo!
@kyle-bowman Thank you very much. about these hold onto the blocks, we just didn't have time to Fix it. @QuantumCookie Made the graphics
Seemed promising enough, I liked the unique visuals and the use of lighting in the game. Really fit the mood it was trying to convey. It felt like the camera was a bit too zoomed in though.
@arvuti Thank you very much
Just wanted to start off by saying the movement in this game feels fluid and fun, but seems a bit too slidy sometimes. I love the traditional mario style of defeating enemies. It feels familiar and doesn't really need to be explained. I'm not sure what the purpose of not allowing the player to see what's around the platforms but it does add a cool layer of depth to the aesthetic. Definitely would love to play if it was expanded upon. Great Job!!
@pastelgames Thank you very very much
love the graphics and the voice acting! very fun and playable game, but the controls feel a bit like walking on ice. i needed a few attempts to get used to that, as well as to the big bounce i got from jumping on top of enemies. Had fun with this game so good ratings from me
I like the visuals. They were nice, though a bit inconsistent. The camera was way too zoomed in on the character, though. It was really hard to see the obstacles ahead of you. The music's nice and fits the electronic theme. I say great job!
Great game! I had so much fun playing, the graphics are awesome and the message trying to get on it's way is ubsolutly genius! the zoom is too close, but im sure you will fix that when the game get wider an more complicated. well done!!
Good game ! I like the lights but, I think, the zoom is too close and I want to jump on the final boss. x) Well done !
@nurk Thank You. Maybe I'll make an update with the camera zoomed out more.
It was a little too short but i liked it!
Its very short, first time at the boss fight I jumped back off the map from where I came from because I didn't realize stuff was dropping at me so had to restart and go back over there
All you need to do 5 is zoom out the camera. Then you can work on it some more and maybe even publish it! all in all, amazing game.
The graphic style's nice, but somehow i got the sound bugged, but everything else is good.
Congratulations on your first jam game. It's exciting!
The background and aesthetics are well done and has a good connection with the theme. I think zooming the camera out and adding a few more platforms would have helped.
I spotted that enemy platforms are red - that's a cool extra signifier.
@zonvoi ok.. a bit weird.. i'll try to fix it on my next update
Master Sex And Tiddies!
The fact that you have audio options mean you get a 5 from me in that category, haha! It's too short though, would have loved another level.
Played on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/598996301
It's a short game but I like the graphical effects. The audio is nice too. I beat the game though or is that it? Is there something more? There's only press R to restart and ESC to exit to main munu in the final screen.
@keybol Thank you for the comment! Sadly, with our limited time and expertise, a single short level was all we could do. But we tried to make it as complete as possible, despite there being less content.
Really like the lighting of the game and I love the voice of the final boss! It was a pretty short game but I find it quite enjoyable! The controls also felt really smooth. Overall, great game!
Nice entry - seemed very polished :smile: Not best of friends with the controls... seemed to floaty for me - kind of like walking on ice permanently
Congrats on the entry :thumbsup_tone1:
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
I found that the character is too big for the screen, not allowing to see clearly what is next to you to take an action. Also the controls are a bit clunky, as the character continues walking a bit even when i release the moving key, not being a very precise movement mechanic.
That said, i liked the art style and the audio. The music are really nice.
Good job on completing a game for the jam!
@lapisraider Thank You Very Much! @purpledartfrog Thank you! Will Fix The control's When I'll have Time To Another Update
I agree with the character being a little too big, and the movement a tad floaty. I also found a bug when going to the Options; if you lower the volume, go back to the main menu, and go back in the Options, the sliders are reset to max, but the values aren't, so you can continuously lower the volume :sweat_smile:
Good music though, it creates a nice atmosphere; congrats!
I liked the graphics, but the game was very short :)
@alxertion Thank you. I've also Found That Bug in The options. just didn't have time to fix it. @meo-benderson Thank You!
The sounds and the lighting are awesome! I really missed a little bit of feedback I guess you could call it when killing the enemies, an explosion would be nice instead of having them just disappear, but that might be personal preference. I really enjoyed it! After about 7 tries on the boss fight I got into a rythym and was finally able to beat him, that was the most enjoyable part.
@sharks Thank you Very Much! Glad You liked The Game!
very promising little game, its lovely to hear some voice acting that wasn't too bad (trust me I've heard real bad voice acting in jam games) and it creates a nice little atmosphere.
@reddashgames Thank U Very Very Much. I appreciate It.
Interesting little game. I enjoyed the sound and the voice over. Great job!
I would suggest making the steps more sensitive, as I have frequently fallen a platform because of that and it made the boss hard to beat. I would also consider making the camera a bit wider or making it so that you can better see what is in front of you.
@banzi Thank You very Much!
@derek-volker Thank You Very Much!
I like the boss fight and the way you included the music :D great. While walking the player slides a little bit but it was ok :)
@rakowu Thank you very much
Cool concept of being a message being sent! Game is a little short and the movement is a tad floaty however I enjoyed jumping on the viruses heads. The boss level was a little too dark and the camera can be zoomed in too much but over all cool game!
@twistashio Thank you so much!
As someone who took Networking class in a computer science field, I know exactly what the message is going through XD
But I couldn't get pass the first boss :sweat_smile:
@doctortm HA HA! So Is It Really Simulating the way a Message Running In The Internet?
Congrat on your game =) it was fun to play =)
@un-ornithorynque-dans-la-piscine Thank You!
@noamraz no, your way is much more interesting than real life :smile:
Short but funny and strange)) GOOD work)
The graphics are really nicely polished. I also like the soundtrack. A little bit short, but I had fun.
It's great what you've managed to achieve in a month of coding! How many hours in a day did you learn?
Music worked for me when playing in the browser. I think the Player moves like he's on ice, that was stressing. Despite this, I like the Player animations and the whole mood - I felt like I'm in the cable or sth. Surrender of the first boss made me smile :smile: I like the voice acting. I know you didn't make the whole music, but I think it's well chosen and fits well to the game.
I would like to see this game with camera placed further and longer levels, but I know - it was such a short time to make a game :v:
Also, would be great to add lives for the Player and checkpoints after bosses, since I was dying, and dying, and dying.
Keep up the good work! Hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare!
The visuals are really nice, I think zooming the camera out a bit would really help, as it felt a bit claustrophobic, show off that nice art!
Nice short little platformer. I liked the lighting a lot, too. Controls feel a bit loose, and camera needs zoomed out a bit, but all-in-all it's a good entry! Congrats!
Fun. Cute graphics. very solid audio. Lighting was perfect.. need gaps so you can fall through the ramps. No risk jumps otherwise. also unless I missed it a way to know that you are about to get attacked from above.. solid. clean up the level and try adding more
Cute platformer ^^
@x-c Thank You Very Very Much! @zimny11 Thank you! @sandra-jasionowska Thank you very Much for the Time Invested On the Comment. The Main Music and The Music In THe Game Was Our Music, The Other Are Just for the gig of 'Keep It Alive' so We had to write About it. There Were No checkpoints and lives to make the game longer and Cover The Short Level. @aj-jones Thank you very much, Camera Zoom Will probably be fixed soon. @no-grapes-games Thanks Alot! @marvalgames Thank You Very Much. We're Planning To Publish An Update Soon.
@szkocka Thank you!
Fun idea but a little bit too easy game I think.
Other than that, great job!
Good stuff! The menu is great, the lighting is awesome. I love the level background. The strange story is the icing on the cake.
Only gripe is, that it's too short, but I can live with that.
Good job!
Good effort! I enjoyed playing it. Just found the movement to be a bit weird and probably the game could be harder.
@marcusnystrand @trigueiro Thank You Very Much! @zubspace Thank you very much! Glad you've enjoyed the game!
love the audio options
The boss fight was good, and the sprites are cute, the background art is nice, and the lighting is cool. Some ways I think it could improve: add a physics material to your character's collider and set the friction to zero, and check if your character is grounded using a raycast. This way when you touch the side of a wall your character won't think it is grounded, so you won't get stuck up against a wall and get infinite jumps. The controls were also a little bit floaty/slippery, the character seemed to always take a few more steps than intended.
The art was really well drawn, and that boss was very nice looking, but the movement is a little weird, probably there is too little friction or something like that, I moved a far more than what I needed all the time but except for that, the game is a pretty solid entry! Congrats ^^
Super pretty, I love the audio!!
@jenny-bourke thnx dude!
Lovely visuals and fast restart helped but very tricky to play. As people have mentioned above, the view was too far zoomed in and the boss was frustrating as there was no real time to see the things dropping in the dark. Nice polished team effort though!
so this one was very short. I dunno why but it took forever to load the game, which is suprising since it was so short but once it loaded up I was able to get to playing. I felt like the camera was zoomed in way too close. you could barely see where you were going. I was compelled to keep playing till I beat the game which is always a good sign.
I also didn't realize at first that the boss you just have to dodge their attacs and you can't really attack the boss.
but you got a game with a start and finish so that's a major accomplishment.
@pee-thief Thank you very much! @thebreakfast @shunaky @designernap Thank you! Taking your notes. @barret When you are playing with the WebGL Version it's really taking time because of the lights. that's 1 reason why we recommended to not use the WebGL Version. **Thank you very much!**
I loved the voiceover on the boos :) and the general mood was nice (audio, lighting of the scene, binary background).
Character movement felt very strange though. It felt like he had no traction, like every surface was slippery. Made him unnecessarily hard to control. I also found a bug - got totally stuck between the platforms. Like this:
Screenshot_3.jpg
Nice entry ! The boss was very confusing the few first times I try it, and as motioned a little de-zoom could be great.
Cool Game! Loved the graphics and the idea behind the game. I think like many people the player movement could have been a bit smoother and possibly fixing some collision issues where you can climb walls when you're in them. But overall I really liked the game goodjob!
This was short and sweet. The little envelope man was a tad overenthusiastic on the movement front, and tended to slide around a lot (usually resulting in one's imminent demise), and it would have been nice to have more levels, but c'est la vie. I liked the art, and the basic mechanics. Congrats on your first game jam, you're off to a great start!
"You did it!" o//
Well, first things (to me at least :p) first, the music is really great and fits well the game. Graphics are pretty, I really like the message character, funny little message guy\^\^ and the environment is great. :)
Controls are a bit odd at first, a little inertia problem, maybe? But otherwise it's okay. A bit less zoomed-in could help to have a better view at what you're doing.
Anyway, great job! :) I would gladly play more levels of your game. o/
"You are too good" Then I die 2 seconds later :D haha
Had fun playing your game, the boss was fun and mixed up the gameplay while staying intuitive. Graphics and audio were also very nice, so great game.
I came here from your "I want to play your game!" post and would like to say thank you for offering that to people. I have enough votes so I won't add my game to let you focus on those that need the 20 votes and I will be playing those in the comments too :)
Like the mood and art style.
Found it hard to control, the main problem where that the character kept moving after I let go of the button, so sometime I would walk of the platform. The camera also felt to close, which made it hard to see what was coming next, died a few time on the last jump size I could not see the enemy. If having the camera that close is needed to keep the felling of the game, you might want to make it so the camera always are a little ahead of the character.
Nice idea! I like the feeling of the game, and the music is cool!
The movement mechanics do feel quite slippery and make it hard to control -- adding some acceleration in there would help quite a lot.
I also found it a bit confusing at times, e.g. when things started falling from the sky with no warning, instantly killing me.
Glad you're getting into game jams so early! For a month of coding experience this is impressive, hope you continue :)
Very fun game!
Graphics and mood are great. I also liked that you have zero respawn time after dying.
Controls need a bit of polish, but I did have fun. You should try playing around with the camera, changing zoom levels for example. Sometimes is hard to see what's coming or how to jump. Also, sometimes you get stuck to the corner of a platform when jumping.
Congrats!
Well done on your first entry. The game is short, but you managed to give it a nice atmosphere.
Cool idea! I liked the graphics and sound, and the mood was great. The controls were a bit slippery though, and I wish there was a checkpoint somewhere... but I also wished it was longer, I wanted to keep playing!
Anyway, nice job!
nice and fun game.
Good job
@fabula-rasa Thank You Very much! @nakami @leekanarchism @henrycgs Thank you! because the level was short, we had to make the boss part confusing and no checkpoints for making the game longer to play and to add more mystery to the game. @zen @vesper @ogma @zenris @hhsaez @amarillion @eduardogacn Thank you! @fables LOL Thank you very much!
Awesome game! The controls were very slippery, but the sound and art made up for it sooooooo much. Ordinarily, I would have quit, but the art compelled me to keep playing.
The visuals are great and I actually really like the little bit of bob to the camera. Main thing I felt like I needed was some more feedback in the boss fight. I died several times from trying to figure out if there was something more I was supposed to do in it.
damn good visuals and music.I like your interpretation on the theme as well.The movement is a little slippery tho.
@flashviper Wow! Thank you! @aaron-taube Thank you very much! the idea is to make you learn through the game. something falling on you and teaching you to be aware of it next time you are there. @ricksquanchez Thank you very much! happy to hear someone understand the connection to the theme :laughing:
@noamraz This was a pretty solid entry! I really liked the art style and graphics, especially the boss. I did notice a few issues with the player being so big and sometimes getting stuck to the side of platforms, and once I tried to go left first instead of right, and I just fell through the map and then could just walk to the right and not have to jump, but also it didn't trigger the boss fight so I had to restart. Still, this was a really good game and I actually enjoyed it, despite it being pretty short. I do agree with @ricksquanchez that the movement is a little slippery, maybe add some friction so that when the player lets go of the button, the character decelerates a little faster? just a thought :D
An interesting idea! I love the theme of playing an internet packet trying to reach its destination. The graphics look nice, and the sounds fit the game well.
My one problem with it is that the camera is much too close - it's difficult to see anything ahead. A couple of times I've ran straight into an enemy because I kept forgetting that was the platform they were on. I think it would be better if the player could see where they're going instead of having to remember the entire layout of the level.
All in all, it's a really solid entry and a well executed first game jam. Well done! ;)
Died several times but I got it in the end. The boss was hard at first but then I took advantage of the constant enemy spawn rate. The character feels slippery (but I know this is hard to overcome in Unity, I'm making a platformer too :laughing: ). I liked the boss and that it was voiced. The music and effects were a bit loud for me though.
@yellowlime thank you very much! about loudness, there was a music settings for that.. lol
Nice work! You did a great job establishing the mood with the lighting! I felt like the controls were a bit too floaty and I wasn't able to get past the boss fight. I didn't feel like I had quite enough time to respond to the falling objects. Good job and keep it up!
@adamv Thanks alot! you are the 100th rating!
I enjoyed playing the game, at first, I thought that the boss was too hard, but then I got into a pattern and it almost seemed too easy, but overall, great game!
Nice little platformer. I personally would prefer if the camera would show little bit more of the surroundings. It seems to be too close to the player atm. Overall solid entry!
There's like no friction on the character. It makes him really hard to control. The mood and audio was nice, though. The graphics and lighting were also good. Good job!
Up arrow for jump would be more intuitive. Audio is nice. Concept at end could be improved.
Really cool idea! Really liked how the game starts and then the boss fight in a way inverts what the player is supposed to do (Initially the player jumps on the enemies, then he has to avoid them). Would have been nice to be able to see a bit more espceially on the boss fight as sometimes it felt a bit unfair.
However the fast reset times really made it worth it. The game really feels complete and everything fits well together!
Hey this is a pretty neat game, I do however think the camera was zoomed in a bit to much. Great job on this!
Cool art style! Nice audio and sounds. Good atmosphere. Physics need polishing: you can stuck in platforms sometimes :)
Great!!!I like the graphics and sounds.
To be honest, I don't have much to say that other people haven't already said. Congratz on making a game and even having a TRAILER for it. Impressive.
Gameplay wise, I feel the controls could have better, felt like it was slippery/input delays.
I thought your game was very cute and fun. The boss fight music was great. I thought the fact that your long message shaped body could get hung on the edge of platforms was funny, and it saved me from the pit a few times. Movement was very slippery and the camera was a little too close for comfort in my opinion, but it was a great entry overall, good job!
The game is really cute and the graphics are pretty good. I would recommend toning the movement drag down a bit, as it makes it a bit frustrating until you get used to it. The music is also pretty cool. Great job!!
Nice concept for a game! Audio was good (thanks for the volume sliders in the options!). The movement did seem a little 'slippery' and took a bit of getting used to and I did get stuck between platforms every now and again but was able to spam jump my way out. Overall, good job!
This was fun! Camera seems too close, so its hard to plan jump. Great music and voice. Nice touch with collision on feet separated from body.
Movement feels a bit slippery and collision with the sides of the platforms is a bit weird. Doesn't seem to really work with the theme either - but not a bad little jam game.
i got stuck in things many times, especially between platforms but it wasn't so bad cause i would respawn, but i got stuck in a place where i literally couldn't do anything. Screenshot (233).png
The graphics were very good, and I liked the concept. The player felt very slippery though, and it was really hard to react to the boss's attack. Liked it though!
This was a cute little platformer. The theme idea was fairly creative and everything sounded pretty good.
The movement was pretty awful due to how slippery it was. Besides that it was just a fun little game. good job.
I really liked the use of lighting and the graphics! Sometimes I would keep moving a little bit after releasing a movement button, however that was a minor issue in a great game! Overall, I really enjoyed playing this platformer!
The game ended so soon though. I still think the camera is too close. Apart from it, everything else is fine.
Not sure it wall-jumping was an intended feature or not, but grabbing on to the sides of the platforms saved me on multiple ocations.
I really liked the aesthetics of the whole thing. The message them self is an especially a cute little bugger.
I love the game! The atmosphere and the mood is nicely represented! Great game! Goodluck!
Quite good for being your first jam. I'd have liked a checkpoint system so I didn't have to start from the beginning. But overall great work, congratulations :)
Pretty good game! I love the sound design and the mood! I wish it was a bit longer but anyway, it's a hopeful beginning!
