LD44 — Your life is currency

99Hearts by barret 2020-04-27T03:39:12Z

Genuinely this game is great. This absolutely is just a stone's throw away from being a game you could think about selling. Some boss fights, some more music, more variety of weapons, boom, you have a solid project. The art style is cute (maybe some more pallets could be unlockable like in Downwell). The music was megaman levels of awesome (what chip tracker do you use?) and the game concept itself is fun. It does get a little easy, though I guess the point is to become ridiculously powerful. That being said, I think the Faustian bargain of it could be played up to increase the challenge. Maybe the more powerful you are, the closer you are to death kinda thing. Health should be more rare maybe? Tough to balance for a game jam though, I think you made the right choice in the short term.

Edit: LOL I seem to have played the wrong game... oh well, I had a lot of fun with it anyways! SORRY! I'll play your LD46 game now. (edit again) Looks like I already did! Oops! Well, darn! I wish I could rate this one too.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Isochronism by FireSlash 2020-04-25T00:27:14Z

I wasn't able to figure out the defibrillator puzzle unfortunately. The graphics are excellent though and the atmosphere is wonderful! It really reminds me of odd PS1 games, everything from the music to the perspective of the room. I really did like the game, I just tried multiple times at the same puzzle and couldn't figure it out. Maybe I'm too dumb lol

Entropia by Kaisean Games 2020-04-26T16:23:59Z

Very peaceful and calm atmosphere, I liked this one a lot. Trading with the planets was fun, learning what everyone needed and gave freely was great. Good sounds and music, decent pixel art, fun concept, really fits the theme. I think a warning message on the turn before you die of any cause would be helpful just to give the player a heads up.

VORACIOUS by OccultOne 2020-04-25T18:50:02Z

The guns are really satisfying, the way the shotgun bullets bounce is a lot of fun (maybe a bit too powerful but still fun). The enemy sprites are nice, I love the little pig rats and the fact that the shock you is cute. I wasn't quite sure what to do other than kill waves. Eventually my robot buddy died and I wasn't sure why. I couldn't tell what putting items into the grinder did. When the music started to pick up in intensity it was cool. Reminded me of Castlevania or Megaman X.

The Messenger Assist by graebor 2020-04-21T17:06:25Z

As always your output never ceases to amaze me! Great work! Fun game, very atmospheric.

You may have forgotten to include the "audio" section for ratings though. Wasn't your music original? And your game is fully voice acted! We should be able to rate you on audio too. I would have given 5 stars for sure.

Algernon's Flower by bentglasstube 2020-04-25T23:30:11Z

I didn't get enough cheese to keep my mouse alive :( poor fella. The sprite art is decent, especially on the death screen. The concept is simple and intuitive, it fits the theme. I think it needs some sound effects though. Impressive that you essentially built your own framework for this though, that's very ambitious!

Glory to Tamo by Krassenstein 2020-04-23T19:01:49Z

I'm so impressed by the graphics on this one wow! Absolutely gorgeous. I did encounter a couple bugs - items appeared on the edge of the play area and couldn't be picked up, and a few times items appeared behind trees and were really hard to see. I think a little more transparency on the trees while you're behind them would help. Overall this is one of the best looking and playing games I've tried so far though! Great work!

Abiogenesis by radmars 2020-04-25T03:55:25Z

Once you get going this becomes very addictive in the same way Tetris is. Honestly, this is a cool core gameplay loop and I think you could develop this a lot further into something truly special. A few more power ups, some more telegraphing of the timing aspect of turning, a quicker restart mechanic, and this could become something really addictive.

Maybe having the option to turn each vine separately would be good too, like swap between this with a click or another button. That would make keeping multiple vines alive at a time maybe a bit more manageable. Worth experimenting with, but I think it's already fun the way it is and implementing something like that could be risky, but I think it's worth testing.

When the music started to get going the whole game became very addictive, it almost felt like a rhythm game. In fact if you had other levels with different bass drum patterns where the growing was still tied to BPM of the kick drum similar to how it is here that would be cool. As it is currently it felt like the vine's "heartbeat" or whatever.

There's even a cool kind of underlying mystery to this game. What is the tree? Is dangerous to humans? What are the power ups and why are they there in the base? What are the hazards for the vine and why are they there? Was this vine a kind of experiment or something? All of these are really fun to think about.

Awesome entry, one of my favourites so far for sure. That musis is great by the way, I hope you release it separately. The audio over all is very fun in this one.

PS: Rad Mars is a fantastic team name.

Rise of the Quack by nervous-composers 2020-04-27T17:56:02Z

Neat sprite art! The ridiculousness of the enemies being various types of cyber-ducks is very 1990s. Is the main character based on Trunks from DBZ by the way? He has big Trunks energy. The game itself is a little simple and a bit easy. Some different types of attacks might make it a bit more varied, maybe a way to juggle the enemies or something. I could see a Megaman style charged attack working here too I also felt like jumping was unnecessary.

pod by irwatts 2020-04-23T17:46:00Z

What an awesome idea! I played this for longer than I care to admit. The movement feels very organic when you get it just right. Reminds me of procedural animations. I mean I guess technically this is procedural animation! The music is very fitting- it feels industrial but organic at the same time. The graphics are really cute, and the interface is very intuitive. I think having some control instructions in-game would help, but the included readme file helped. Overall, excellent entry, especially for the 48 hour compo!

Human Spiderweb by miziziziz 2020-04-21T17:09:40Z

Awesome game, really creepy atmosphere, made me feel pretty squeamish. Effective body horror for sure. Great job!

Parental Instinct by Fatsheep 2020-04-24T21:24:11Z

Good lord that actually really managed to creep me out. It's surprisingly frantic! I'm shocked your game hasn't become more popular in the jam. It's got the same creepy magic that Slenderman has for sure. The graphics on the house are great. The baby is a little unsettling though I guess that's the point, and the monster is adequately grotesque. Great job!

Dog's Best Friend by MattWoelk 2020-04-21T17:47:10Z

Great job Matt! What a cute and atmospheric concept. Also, I didn't actually play in VR, but I noticed when I launched it automatically attempted to launch Steam VR because I had my headset plugged in. Does this have VR support? If so, you might be one only VR games in the compo category and should advertise that! In any case, great job! I loved the boss fight, and the visual indicators for health were very intuitive and fun.

Dog's Best Friend by MattWoelk 2020-04-22T00:50:40Z

@mattwoelk I've tried a few "2d" games in VR and it's honestly been consistently one of my favourite types of VR games to play. It feels like a diorama. I didn't try your game in VR, though I imagine the camera follow would cause some discomfort. If you looked at the whole level like a table top or something it might actually be a neat take on the game. That being said, it was fun in 2D mode! :)

Morphology by Shess 2020-04-25T02:43:07Z

This is awesome! Everything from the music and sounds to the design, to the graphics themselves. Seriously a great entry, this has a TON of potential. I loved trying to decipher what my little dude was trying to tell me. I wanted to know more about the ruined world and visit more places or encounter more people. Everything here left me wanting more. That's definitely a good thing. Great work!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-25T22:59:03Z

Every Ludum Dare it seems there's one idea that just stands out for its complete out of the box ingenuity. What an awesome idea! Completely unique, super intuitive and compelling. The graphics are good, even down tot he loading bar when he is transitioning. Very clever.

HareFare by Gumboot 2020-04-21T21:31:37Z

Wow this is gorgeous! This is professional quality stuff, it looks incredible, among the best looking games I've played in the jam for sure, and it plays very well to boot! The music is cute, the sounds are too, and the atmosphere is very relaxing! It's a little hard to hit the flies, but still fun!

Symbio-tech by GenericToast 2020-04-23T20:58:56Z

Really good music, sound and graphics, especially for a Compo game. I played two rounds. Adding a high score table was a good idea, although some people have unfortunately sabotaged it with nasty names. In any case, I think this is a cool concept. Great job!

I I R O by Dis0rder 2020-04-27T22:37:43Z

Have you ever heard of an old youtube video, Username666? This reminds me of that, with maybe a little bit of Pilotredson thrown in. Except the intro, that reminds me of blackmetal music videos. Very creepy! Maximum mood score that's for sure.

Hive Preserver by _for_science 2020-04-25T22:41:33Z

Definitely reminds me of the larval stage in AVP2 back in the day! I loved everything about this one, the graphics, the atmosphere, the sound, the controls. The ending is a little hard though I did eventually manage to beat it by taking a different approach. I think it doesn't really fit the theme super well, although whatever it fits reasonably. The menu music probably could have worked as combat music too. Though not necessary, it may have added to the experience. Overall, great entry! One of my faves for sure.

Dr. Noir by UnidayStudio 2020-04-26T22:56:24Z

Good animations and art, everything looks very good. The game play is a little simple, but overall it's a good entry.

SPECIAL MEAT for a special boy by LethalTurtle 2020-04-27T17:44:18Z

I intentionally do all of my first play throughs without reading first to be surprised by what a game has to offer and to see how intuitive it is. I did 2 blind plays on this one and figured it all out by the second play through, so I definitely think it was intuitive even without reading instructions! But the surprise of finding the weird monster in the closet was neat, and I must admit I'm glad I discovered it organically rather than reading about it first. The eyes on the roof were eerie too. I think a bitcrunched growl or something from the monster could add a lot. The audio left a bit to be desired to be honest.

MR YELLOW by p-r 2020-04-27T17:49:59Z

The cover art definitely captivated me. I couldn't quite figure out how the movement worked in order to strategize my teleports though. I found myself teleporting near a blue dot hoping I'd get lucky and hit it. I get that he bounces off of walls but it wasn't clear to me how. Somehow it still managed to captivate me though.

Solais by dragonxvi 2020-04-25T18:40:29Z

This is the first pico8 game I've played in LD46. It's very pretty, but it was a big hard to see (which likely isn't your fault, it's mostly a screen size thing, and I guess vision hazards are a part of the core loop considering the interpretation of the theme). The music is awesome!

Ad Herbis by tydyus 2020-04-24T21:10:22Z

Gorgeous art and responsive UI. Some sound effects might really tie this together. Systems based games like this have a pretty defined niche currently only filled by Zachtronics basically. With some added depth you might be able to turn this into a sellable product.

House Bouncers by LuckyFeathers 2020-04-23T19:06:26Z

Wow the graphics on this one are incredible. All the models are really expressive and cute. There are tons of features that are really well realized for a jam game.

The Drown by Simon Rahnasto 2020-04-23T19:59:38Z

Wow this game is INTENSE. The graphics are awesome. The atmosphere really reminds me of SPAZ (Space Pirates and Zombies). The voice acting is awesome. Such high production values for a game jam game. With a bit more work I think you honestly have the start of something good here! This is one of three games so far that I've given fives across the board.

Protect the Earth by gord10ahmet 2020-04-25T01:45:14Z

One thing I find fascinating about this game is the contrast between the slice mode, and rocket mode. I think the rocket mode is clearly easier, much easier, but for a strange reason. The slice mode is more fun. The reason the slice mode is more fun, and why that makes it more difficult, is because I kept trying to go for combo slices! So it was my own fault, I made it more difficult because it was cool haha. I think that's the mark of a fun game. If you added extra points for combos, or some type of neat effect or bonus for them, that could be cool!

Oak Defenders by Hugimugi7 2020-04-25T15:50:07Z

Very cute sprite art. The music is really original and fitting, I especially love how seamless the dynamic transitions are. Cool take on a tower defense game, it definitely feels more frantic than most. I think having a way to replace/replant turrets once purchased would be good though.

Root Mania by Cristi Mihai 2020-04-26T22:48:10Z

I wouldn't say the game play suffered here. The music is eh, take it or leave it, but the graphics are good, the sound is good, the game play is inventive and fun. I really liked your entry! Good job!

Pug Panic by Alex Davies 2020-04-27T22:27:07Z

I love this idea! It definitely ramps up in difficulty QUICKLY. Once you have the minesweeper on the screen it gets REAL lol. I really enjoyed the music and the sprite art. Honestly this was really good. I think it might be a bit too difficult though.

Like&Subscribe by Time Loop 2020-04-25T21:02:33Z

Neat idea, good graphics, awesome audio (very ambient, creates a good atmosphere). Is there any way to get by the mannequin enemy?

Win or Your Totobee WILL Die by cammy 2020-04-25T23:36:03Z

Awesome that you made a multiplayer game. It was definitely engaging. Could use some music or sounds. But to make a multiplayer game in a jam is a huge undertaking, so I think that deserves a lot of praise! Great work.

Get the Barky Started by Sibi 2020-04-26T21:09:31Z

I love the dog sprite, its idle animation is adorable. I want a party hosting dog. The music blends surprisingly well, dynamic music is tough.

Night in the Garden by nikchernyakov 2020-04-25T20:56:50Z

Great graphics and atmosphere. The music and sounds are very fitting. Unfortunately at a certain point the mouse controls broke for me and I was not able to progress. I think the facehugger enemies are a little difficult. I must say, I'm curious to know more about the type of plant I'm feeding, and why it needs gasoline! I bet it explodes :D

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-25T00:47:46Z

Awesome atmosphere. Reminds me a bit of The Last Station and Metro. The audio is great too, and the pixel art is nice. Some of the zombies, especially the one in the elevator puzzle in the third level, can be a little unforgiving. But in general this is great! The only things I can think of to improve it would be some music in some areas, and some more levels. Great work!

Container by Zinkler 2020-04-22T23:30:04Z

I love the look of the gun sprite, 2d billboard sprites in a 3d game is always a look I love. The first monster looks really good too, and the levels are neat. The atmosphere is wonderful. Do the teleporter pods recharge the box? It doesn't seem to be working for me. It's always a challenge to telegraph what the player should/can do in a game jam game. My game has the same issue. Still, I love the feel of this game, I think you really succeeded in delivering on a heavy atmosphere and mystery that left me wanting more. Reminded me a lot of the SCP series.

Bunnurse by Brainoid 2020-04-23T19:14:22Z

Wow, not many Ludum Dare games feature an opening/game over cut scene! I love the diegetic instructions (the poster). The graphics are very good. Kind of reminds me of Psychonauts a little. When the patients start dying it's honestly a little bit creepy/unsettling. It definitely feels frantic. Also, it's not often you play someone neutral in a war. It's nice to have a kinder approach to a game set in a war, just making it about saving lives instead of taking lives is nice. I think in stream you mentioned this was your first jam using Unreal? Awesome work.

Mount Ookie by Brusi 2020-05-02T14:11:38Z

Great graphics and music, and the sound effect for the eating is hilarious, very classic. I love the concept in general, it's like a reverse Shadow of the Colossus. It's a very creative interpretation of the theme, one of the most creative entries I've played! Great job!

Volley Gosh by verbvirus 2020-04-21T17:20:13Z

Awesome graphics and fun concept! It feels really juicy too, the dash mechanic is a lot of fun and the "high score" UI element was really fun too.

Polygons of Light by Poulpint 2020-04-25T01:33:27Z

Neat concept! Very creative. There were some frame rate issues on the levels with lots of moving parts, but other than that I encountered no bugs or weird issues. I had lots of fun with this one. The music was relaxing. The design is simple but it works (your logo looks nice too). Great job.

Ecorobotical by TomekS 2020-04-21T17:15:55Z

Lots of fun, very funny. It's a little difficult but I definitely enjoyed it! At one point the plant disappeared in the ending room and I was not able to progress (it didn't finish the level, it just destroyed my plant and the timer kept going). Fun idea though and great execution!

Ghost Ship (Jam Edition) by Dylan Fries 2020-04-22T19:12:34Z

Super moody, this is the only jam game to actually give me chills so far. Awesome job! I really wanted to continue exploring, the atmosphere is really awesome. Reminds me of the dark atmosphere of sci-fi PS1 games like G-Police or Future Cop LAPD. I wanted to find out why the world was so destroyed.

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-21T15:39:00Z

What a beautiful game, wow! The amount of content you produced in just a weekend is awesome! This game is sure to be in the top 5 best graphics and mood, probably number 1! While I was exploring one of the lower levels my light started to go out, and the shadows started creeping towards the dog. Definitely creepy, and there's a lot of room for player interpretation too!

GrowIt by ItPlay 2020-04-24T17:21:09Z

This game is surprisingly frantic! The tomatoes are very unforgiving haha. I had a lot of fun with this one, you did a good job! The production value is very good for a jam game. The graphics are good, the sound and music is fun, I didn't encounter any bugs, everything was very intuitive. I think it could use a little balancing to make the game a bit less difficult to have multiple plants on the go at the same time. With a little more work I think this could be a very good proof of concept.

Side note: your itch.io page doesn't link to your page on Ludum Dare. I found your game through Itch.io and had to find your game manually. Since Ludum Dare doesn't have a good search mechanic, it was a bit hard to find. I recommend linking the two.

TIME TO BREATHE by Dmitry Kaidash 2020-04-21T15:57:15Z

Your game looks awesome! I love the concept, and the eerie atmosphere is very strong. I think the shooting could be more like a twin stick shooter, or go the other direction and have it somewhat like Resident Evil classic where you have to stop moving and aim manually. That, or telegraph the "windup" time more. But overall this game is excellent!

It was your fault by Gavin Camlin 2020-04-22T20:07:59Z

The graphics are excellent, a lot was accomplished here for the jam. I think it has an eerie atmosphere for sure, it feels like the main character exists in a state outside of time or out of sync with the local time, and that's why things disappear around him. I think with a little more time this could be something really cool. Even just adding sound effects and ambient sounds would really elevate this a lot I think.

I did encounter a bug while playing which caused my character to get stuck in a wall. This was in the middle path, the one with the open courtyard with all the polygon guys (monks doing drills?). Once I collected the battery I ran into the wall behind it by accident and became stuck. This problem didn't occur in the other two batteries.

Overall, good job!

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-21T18:19:32Z

@marxy-37 the darkening water is a good idea. Last night I was thinking of ways to improve the game and indicating where the dungeons are located was definitely a topic that came up in my mind, as well as finding the water at the end of each dungeon. I appreciate your feedback!

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-21T23:52:16Z

@nuckelavee13 thanks! We did have a gradient effect on the pitfalls, but you're right, they need something less subtle. If we had a bit more time we would have put some kind of collectible item to guide the jumps and safe falls better. Thanks for your your suggestion.

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-22T00:53:59Z

@junebug I've never heard someone call it Coyote Time, thank you for teaching me that! I know what I'm renaming my variables to. The three of us definitely agree it feels like a Shiny game, I feel the Earth Worm Jim vibes too. Thanks for playing.

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-22T01:21:49Z

@virtuaworlds my team had talked about Oddworld too! Funny that a lot of people got the same vibes. Thanks for the feedback!

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-22T03:20:01Z

@gavin-camlin thanks for the feedback, the spelunking comment gave me some neat ideas.

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-22T15:39:40Z

@whomakeworse there are three dungeons you can find, and inside those dungeons you can jump and attack. We probably should have put something inside the game directing the players. Thanks for the feedback!

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-23T04:35:01Z

@ketura thanks for the feedback! There are definitely quite a few jumps that could have been better telegraphed. I agree 100%. We were gonna have ducking (we have the animation for it), and if I had time I would have put in an ability to duck and lower the camera. Collectible items probably would have helped show which jumps were safe too.

@graebor thanks! I love the transition too, it feels very classic. Reminds me of entering and exiting areas in Banjo Kazooie. The falling rocks were literally added in the last hour or so haha. I wish they had a sound effect but I still like it.

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-24T23:25:27Z

@langotriel Thanks for the feedback!

@marcusnystrand I wish we could take credit for the music. For the root mode we just paul-stretched an existing creative commons track, and for the side scroller mode we just added an effect to make the looping less jarring.

@zigg it definitely could use a bit of work. The attacking especially. It feels a little janky at times. I think I may have set up the animation controls slightly wrong, and the hitbox is controlled with animation events (which shouldn't be causing the jankiness but who knows).

@juliaanna I agree totally. We had talked about adding a health pickup item at least in the root mode, and I think having little pickups hanging in the air like coins would help telegraph some of the jumps a little better too. I also made a few kind of unfair "gotcha" moments.

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-26T16:17:25Z

@fpgames we used the line renderer, and it has a limited number of line segments it can make before it starts a new line for performance reasons (and also starts a new line when you fall off a cliff because otherwise it would draw a line across the map). Thanks for the feedback!

@johnnysix that's a good point, we probably could have had it only draw new cells while moving horizontally during dungeon scenes. Because it's attached to the spine of the character the idle animation causes it to draw I think. I'll look into fixing this if we continue. Sorry you had some performance issues, thank you for reporting them and giving us some suggestions!

@swanijam the dungeon scenes are a little large yeah. I think maybe if only the final dungeon was large it would have been fine, you're right that the first couple should have probably been shorter. Maybe more dungeons that are shorter in length would have been more fun, or mid-dungeon checkpoints could have solved that issue too. I appreciate the feedback!

@broken-robot-studios thank you! Behind the scenes I've been playing with fixing some of the jankiness of the attacks and camera. I didn't set up the animator parameters properly to allow a direct transition between falling, then attacking (because we chose not to have mid-air attacks). Oops! My bad haha. I think I've fixed that behind the scenes, but we won't upload a new version until after the jam out of fairness.

To anyone we've missed, thank you so much for the feedback!

Root Quest by thebreakfast 2020-04-27T02:54:22Z

@barret thank you for being determined to play our game, I appreciate that a lot! I've added a couple new mechanics but we won't be uploading until after the jam. I don't know why I never considered traps, thank you for the idea.

@joel-steudler thanks for the feedback! We discussed some ways to improve the game, we'll see how they pan out. I'll be sure to tag you if we do!

Mut-ant by ketura 2020-04-23T18:07:38Z

This is a really neat idea and I think it could go somewhere interesting! I think with a bit more development this would be a really cool concept. It might be worth experimenting a bit more just to see where you can take it.

Rocket Maniacs by shp 2020-04-29T15:28:46Z

Holy crap this is very impressive for a compo entry! Creating all this code and amazing art/animation in 48 hours? Ambitious and incredible! Very well done. It even has sound effects and decent music! Awesome job, I am very impressed! The only thing it's really missing is some visual indication of checkpoints.

Blossom Blaster by skitzogamer 2020-04-24T17:31:59Z

The swinging light was really cool! Having to stay in the light definitely was an interesting twist. It was a bit up in the air whether or not a fly carrying water would appear though, so a few times I died because I never got any water pickups. That being said, the design of the fly carrying the water was def cute. The main character's design reminds me a bit of Rayman Legends.

Blood On The Snow by Wolfrug 2020-04-26T00:13:13Z

When leveling up some of the text was unable to fit in the UI elements, and whenever there was snow on the screen there were areas where the particle emitter was not emitting (maybe there was a missing game object or the shape of the emitter was off?). Regardless, this is really well done. The music is very atmospheric, the story is compelling, the art is VERY good for a 72 hour jam. Could use some sound effects. Honestly with a little polish this would be the start of something awesome. For a jam entry this is hella complex and really well done. An intricate battle system and good animations / art, good music, good writing! Very well done!

Fish Motel by Lou Bagel 2020-04-25T18:57:07Z

Very cute! I love the bear concierge! Absolutely adorable. The concept is pretty funny and it fits the theme well.

Nuclear Family by Zigg 2020-04-24T23:38:36Z

The art and sounds are awesome in this! Everything has a ton of character and it controls pretty great. The slapping was a cute touch, it's very satisfying. Because the specific food items appear randomly on the food machine it's a little hard to match the correct food for the fuel rods. But overall this is a really cute and well done entry.

Keep the Dream Alive! by DrumGadget_433 2020-05-06T04:12:44Z

The graphics are gorgeous in this and the music is a lot of fun, the story is cute and funny. I feel bad though because it was way too difficult for me. I could not get the hang of the timing, I tried 15 lives and I couldn't get past 2 consecutive hits. Is there a trick to it?

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-27T19:54:17Z

Good dialogue, decent art, good music choice, everything works fine (although I did get some stuttering a few times). I couldn't find any of the artifacts though. I couldn't figure out how to use the magic detector after getting it.

Mammoth Expedition by Abdurrahman Khallouf 2020-04-24T23:55:37Z

The art is very good, and the sound creates a nice atmosphere.

HYPERHOP: GALACTIC LANCER by Swanijam 2020-04-26T21:20:34Z

Katamari Silver Surfer. Awesome graphics and really juicy gameplay, I love the final kill on each of the planets. Actually, all of the damage sounds were great! It was a little janky taking damage, and it felt a little too easy. With some additional challenge, abilities and story this could definitely be the start of something special. The presentation overall is just so gorgeous. I mean even right from hitting the start button and having the planet eat the main menu, what a smart move! Great work!

Faire L'Amour aux Plantes by Jenny Bourke 2020-04-24T20:45:03Z

The music and art give this a very unique cute atmosphere. The plants were a little creepy which made a strange contrast (in a good way). The concept is pretty funny! Mechanically it is missing a bit I think. Some variation to add challenge, maybe needing to click on specific leaves on the plant or something. I also missed the final cutscene because I was still clicking when it appeared, and it skipped the ending picture. Thank you for putting those pictures in your description here!

Further into the Universe by WhoMakeWorse 2020-04-21T23:30:56Z

This may be the most ambitious Ludum Dare game I've ever seen. Great work!

MegaCorn - Strategy / Economy Simulator by KittRangers 2020-04-22T23:46:39Z

Really awesome art! It reminds me a bit of management games like Populus, or system based games like Axes and Acres. The art is fantastic. I did encounter a bug where the construction menu wouldn't disappear, which prevented me from moving forward.

Living Light by zubspace 2020-04-27T22:14:30Z

I had the number one score for today, and 7th overall. Nice! I got a little reckless but I could have gone a little further for sure. Great game by the way, really good mood/atmosphere to this one even with the cute sprites. Good job with this, especially for a one-person team! Love the music!

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-25T00:34:26Z

Awesome production value! This game feels like a complete product almost. Great pixel art, great sounds, fun gameplay concept. Overall, great job! I'm glad it has invincibility grace periods because I got caught between two traps a few times. Level 4 was tough as heck!

Test-a-ball by JAsonsumm1 2020-04-22T19:58:37Z

The blob character is a lot of fun to play around with and has a lot of character. Some sounds would have really brought this home. Trying to climb higher is definitely a lot of fun, it has a real "Getting Over It" vibe and if developed further it might be a good foundation!

Blobbysitter by Jake Marks 2020-04-27T19:37:19Z

The voice over and sound effects are amazing, the game in general is very funny. I love the title too. But the game is very very difficult. I think if he moved just a little slower or didn't make a b-line directly for the stove every time it might be a bit more manageable. As it stands I had a pretty tough time with it haha. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BLOB BABY!" Poor old dude.

Green Thumb: Balcony Bounty by tomd1013 2020-04-25T01:53:33Z

Interesting concept, but I found out pretty early on I could cheese the game by spamming the red button and periodically pressing the blue button. I also think one of the mallets didn't work because I consistently lost the left watermelon but not the right one, and whenever I would lean to check, the button seemed to only activate the left mallet. Definitely a funny idea though! Mallets are normally the enemy of a watermelon, not the protector. Definitely a twist hahaha.

Starship & Hull by Mastoast 2020-04-23T21:05:10Z

I really love the concept and visuals. The music is nice too, and the sounds are pretty good. Unfortunately I was only able to extinguish one fire, then suddenly it wouldn't allow me to extinguish more fires or weld/solder damage on the hull. I attempted a couple times and had the same issue.

Turtle Daddy by dummydojo 2020-04-27T17:34:35Z

Wow, amazing art style! Reminds me of Metal Slug! The music is good, the sounds are good, the gameplay loop is fun and it's very intuitive. This is one of my favourite entries I've tried so far for sure. Great work!

Keep Ivan Trotsky Alive by evlko 2020-04-27T19:28:29Z

The graphics were good, the concept is fun, rotating the levels is satisfying with the way the "4th wall" fades out. The collision of the duck with the grandpa was a good touch. The one-liners from the grandpa were very reminiscent of Duke Nukem. The voice was a little much, or maybe it was just too frequent or might have been too loud in the mix. Overall though for a jam game this has a surprising amount of polish and content. Good job!

MELT by mmatt_ugh 2020-04-24T21:42:35Z

WOW I think you have something truly special here, this is a very unique mechanic and I think it's a lot of fun. It has a catchy title and logo, the music is WONDERFUL, the character is charming. Great job. Absolutely blown away.

Go Cockroach go! by Ulisses 2020-04-26T23:15:32Z

You made a lot of assets here for a jam, very good graphics and animations. The game itself is a little difficult I died quite a few times. The timing on the sprint cooldown could be a little more forgiving I think, but then the game might be too easy. Maybe some "save zones" in the level could help. Overall, good job though!

Last Healer by MoonRoll 2020-04-24T21:46:43Z

Great art and awesome concept, this genuinely could be a cool concept for a fully realized game. It definitely needs some sound effects or music, but what you have is a good start!

King's Table by PetTurtle 2020-04-21T17:33:27Z

Very cool concept! This could definitely be realized into a full game! What an awesome idea. With a little music, some balance tweaks and maybe something to indicate what each piece does before you build it, you could easily charge for this!

Slime Life by Bruyère Alice 2020-04-21T19:33:34Z

It took me two tries to really figure it out, but once I figured it out it was good. I think the thing that made it difficult for me the first time is that the meters don't indicate when you're close to dying. A beeping noise or warning message might help. Reminds me a bit of Monster Rancher. The art is great, and the concept is fun. Good job!

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-23T21:11:20Z

Definitely very funny and has a lot of "juice." The graphics are awesome, from the UI design (which feels like a Jackbox game) to the fish animations / reactions (which feels like an oldschool cartoon.

Keep the Fire Alive FINAL by Krebzor 2020-04-25T00:03:32Z

I didn't encounter any bugs, the art was cute, and the game is decent. The music needs some work. It's a bit too high pitched. There are times where it started to sound halloweeny which was better.

Save Grave Dave by Bananabas 2020-04-24T17:56:47Z

Really neat game. Be sure to link up your itch.io page so that it points back to the Ludum Dare page so people can rate it if they find you on itch.io.

The graphics are great. The atmosphere is very good. The guards are a little too easy to sneak past. I did however get spotted by one on purpose, and their following behaviour seems to be pretty sophisticated. I didn't encounter any bugs while playing. I'd say it would be a good idea to add a purpose for the other body parts you dig up (maybe they can give you more time or something), and a clue or series of clues to follow to find the correct grave so it feels a bit more like a mystery. Maybe some of those clues could even be discovered in graves. Good job though, this is solid!

Is the song an original composition? It's very good! In fact the audio in general was pretty great!

Flood by Joxev 2020-04-25T15:32:02Z

Great atmosphere from the sound effects, cute art, decent controls, all it's missing is some music, but it honestly works without the music. The tutorial was nice. It was a little unclear sometimes when you could or couldn't pass through certain objects. In level 3 I couldn't pass through the water at certain spots and it made it a bit frustrating.

-SPROUT- by ZEN 2020-04-22T23:12:58Z

Cool concept, I think the particle effect for the water is a huge highlight, it looks very good and interacts wonderfully with the enemies and level. I think a sound effect for the water would be a good addition, and I think there was a bit of inconsistency with the angle at which the enemies would take damage. I found I had to wiggle the mouse around to make sure I could hit them. The models look great by the way, good job!

Pet Keeper by Rafael Pontes 2020-04-25T03:40:36Z

The abilities all work well and I didn't encounter any bugs or anything, good hit detection, the audio is a lot of fun and the drawings are cute. Good work!

Last water temple. A VR Game, Added non-Vr version by mmadara1 2020-04-24T17:03:46Z

Something about this setting is very compelling. Why is there a "last water temple" and why are there insects that are stealing its water? Is there no water left in the world? It seems so futile and final. I really want to learn more about this universe, is that strange?

I think it's pretty ambitious to make a VR game for a game jam, and one that runs on android! This is pretty cool. I think the idea itself is good for a game jam, but if you continue with it I think it needs a story, and other game play elements to make it have a bit of longevity. If it's a temple in the game sense, some puzzles to solve would be cool. But the world definitely feels very compelling, great atmosphere, it creates a big sense of mystery.

Last water temple. A VR Game, Added non-Vr version by mmadara1 2020-04-24T17:24:51Z

@mmadara1 I think it's very impressive you were able to convey so much, and cause me to ask so many questions with just the premise and title alone. Your game is one of the ones I rated highest in the "mood" category for this reason! Great job! It's a good message, too.

Keep Him Alive by Convg 2020-04-27T19:18:53Z

The sword effect is cool, I think the screen shake is a little too intense though. Some sound effects would likely make everything feel a little more alive.

Edit: I went back and played the new updated version. I think you need a less intense sound effect for the sword slash. It should be like a swish not an explosion.

Life Alive by ClaytonRumley 2020-04-23T00:06:34Z

Really innovative. Having working online multiplayer is a huge accomplishment for a game jam. Great work!

Let's stick together by syo 2020-04-25T19:13:42Z

Very cool concept, surprisingly compelling puzzle game. With a few more unit types and some music this could be a really good start to something!

Lights Out by Aspect11 2020-04-23T18:42:34Z

Horror is a hard thing to nail in jam games, but I think you nailed it. The sound is good, the atmosphere is dark and mysterious. The graphics are amazing! How did you do the hazy effect over the camera? It looks very good, reminiscent of Silent Hill for sure. Good job with this, it's especially good for your first ever game jam! Very impressive.

LifeForm by grug 2020-04-21T15:46:49Z

The music is amazing, I love the dials used to control it. This game is actually really fun! A lot of the puzzles are tons of fun, especially with the pressure of keeping your life form alive. Great work! I could honestly see you continuing with this idea and taking it a lot further.

A tale of Rebirthism by Pomo 2020-04-23T19:43:51Z

This gets hectic very fast! Awesome game though, it's tons of fun and the atmosphere is very strange. It feels very abstract and eerie, but fun at the same time. Great work!

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-25T18:28:15Z

Amazing worldbuilding, the graphics and sound are beautiful, a huge accomplishment, and it wouldn't surprise me if you were number 1 for graphics. The gameplay is a bit frustrating during the challenge where you have to travel across the first narrow metal beam. Once I passed that puzzle the rest was pretty easy. I loved that the wind interacted with various elements in the map, like the rock pillars and such. This could work as an introduction to a larger game where you play as the wind / nature intervening in a futuristic city ala the early 2000s game "Messiah" or something.

Clonization by FPGames 2020-04-25T23:41:15Z

I like the animation of the plant sinking into the ground at the end when you lose. I think a sound effect for that would have added a lot. The art was cute and the game is simple but fun. It lacks depth, a few more villager types might have helped, or power ups, or a different map. Overall though, good job.

Save The Puppy by Kerpter by merttugkan 2020-05-01T13:32:07Z

Really cool concept! Like I said in my itch.io comment, this is surprisingly dramatic and tense. I like the multiple control concepts rolled into one. In retrospect it kind of reminds me of a platformer version of that Wii game Trauma Center Team. Awesome and original entry. One of the most unique games I've played in the jam so far.

A Samurai Friend Of Mine by voidpointer 2020-04-24T16:51:36Z

I love the breaking of the 4th wall at the end, that was clever. It definitely was an interesting story. The ogre was slightly finicky but once I learned the timing it was fine. Some more sound effects in combat would have really brought this home, but overall I think it was a lot of fun. The intro was very mysterious, I find it hilarious that it was never addressed again. The sprite art is pretty good, each character has a lot of personality. It doesn't really fit the theme a ton, I suppose the grandpa is keeping the story about his friend alive? Still a decent entry though!

And weep above an endless grave by MabraX 2020-04-26T23:10:05Z

The art is very good, and the animations could use some tweening but they look nice nonetheless. The jump scare deaths are kind of strange, I'm not quite sure what the death face is supposed to be. I couldn't figure out how to beat the level with the crows. That being said, there's definitely something cool here. Great atmosphere, the dynamic between the characters seems unnatural (in the creepy good-horror writing way, not the bad-writing way). It's strange that the little girl puts herself at risk when the tall man seems to have such a powerful aura about him. It adds to the tension for sure.

Castaway:A Spark of Hope by HeliturtleOP 2020-04-23T18:46:08Z

Cool concept, reminds me a bit of Stephen's Sausage Roll. Really cute graphics.

Zombie Movie Break by pr00thmatic 2020-04-23T20:44:09Z

I like the music and sounds, and the sprites are pretty good. I encountered a few glitches though. Eventually the enemies stopped following me. It was a bit inconsistent or unclear how to save someone, and once I did save someone, I was able to continue saving the same person by shooting them with the healing gun until I won.

tiriplici by Trexxak 2020-04-29T15:23:17Z

I like the music and the art, very 90s. It wasn't until the second play through that I realized the toaster has a bare butt showing and he's smokin' a doobie. Definitely gives me some Ren and Stimpy vibes. The enemy names are really funny too!

The controls are a little floaty on the toaster though, but I do like the idea of the toaster and fridge working together. The "controlling 2 characters" concept was a very 1990s Sega Genesis motif and I wish it was still around more often.

Right clicking the sandwich flies was not very intuitive though, and after I killed one sandwich fly the right clicking didn't seem to work anymore (I was playing the fixed version). The fridge also died with relatively little feedback (I wasn't 100% sure when the fridge was taking damage). Some sound effects might have helped with that.

Overall, good entry!

Message by NoamRaz 2020-04-27T22:21:03Z

The boss fight was good, and the sprites are cute, the background art is nice, and the lighting is cool. Some ways I think it could improve: add a physics material to your character's collider and set the friction to zero, and check if your character is grounded using a raycast. This way when you touch the side of a wall your character won't think it is grounded, so you won't get stuck up against a wall and get infinite jumps. The controls were also a little bit floaty/slippery, the character seemed to always take a few more steps than intended.

A Walrus Dreams by Eric R 2020-04-26T21:01:30Z

The music in this is great! Also it really, really captures the feeling of "dream logic" well. Such a mish-mash of random stuff and yet it makes sense: you catch fish because you are a walrus, there are cats because cats also eat fish. In the second level the sudden huge wave of cats really made me laugh. This is definitely one of the funnier games I've played in this Ludum Dare. I think this would be the perfect mini game in a larger game. Gives me real "GTA arcade game" vibes, or maybe a "No More Heroes" minigame instead.

Ludum Creare by Jon Topielski 2020-04-25T20:45:00Z

Very meta! I can appreciate that for sure. Good art, neat concept. The music is great, the way it glitches out is pretty cool and atmospheric.

Blooming with You by Junebug 2020-04-22T05:19:55Z

It's hard to write believable flirty/romantic text dialogue, but I think you nailed it. The line "the tree has caught fire" really cracked me up. Everything really fits together well here, the music, the visuals, it's super cohesive. It has a bit of the same vibe of a Tale of Tales game. I like the double meaning of the theme too. Great job!

Loading... by AlexAuragan 2020-04-21T16:11:48Z

Our games have some similarities, but different execution! I loved this. This would be a good loading minigame, it would make you feel like you have control over the loading times haha. Loved it, great job!

FurBall by Plutonium Powered 2020-04-21T19:45:19Z

Great art and neat concept. In level 2 and level 3 the cats stopped falling for me, so I was able to pass the levels only jumping over the birds.

When I was able to keep a cat up, it usually got caught in the far right side of the screen which gave me very little time to dodge the birds. Maybe making the cats bounce the direction the bear is facing would help with this, or randomize the direction. In any case, it's a good jam entry! Good job!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-25T14:17:34Z

Neat game! Definitely one of the better compo games I've played so far. The music is pleasant, the sounds work well. Reminds me of the fly swatting game in Mario Paint but with a twist.

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-30T15:12:01Z

Definitely an addictive game! It gets really fun once the speed starts ramping up! The art is good, the music is fun, and Mr. Cheesy is a funny character (he seems like a big nerd because of the sound effect, reminds me of Steve Urkle haha). I love the pasta plate that comes out whenever you hit a shredder. Good job!

Here's my score: cheese score.PNG

Nyctophobia by oodavy 2020-04-21T19:37:55Z

Cool concept and very atmospheric. The manual lighting of each match is surprisingly tense which reminds me of the manual opening of doors in Amnesia. I like that you telegraphed the darkness bar nearly zero with a gasp of fear. Great job!

Mars Alone by h4kcr0o 2020-04-25T00:57:17Z

Great work, especially for your first game jam! You did much better than me in my first game jam. The graphics are good, could use some music or sounds, but overall I think it was a very successful first jam!

Bakeneko no Ko by makkurataichou 2020-04-21T23:46:58Z

Great art, and cute story. I love the idea of the story's ending changing as Ludum Dare progresses. I also love that the messages are from other players. Good job!

ecoBunker by interpixel 2020-04-25T16:26:49Z

Cool concept, I like the idea of balancing different species to keep each other alive. The UI is well-done, it looks nice. That being said, I don't really get why I lost every time I did. Some better messaging or warnings would be a big help.

iCroog by TyXo666 2020-04-24T20:29:21Z

The graphics and audio are really good! The gameplay is fun but it's a little unclear when you will die stepping on something. There's also a certain atmosphere here, it reminds me of some dark SuperNES games where it feels kind of post apocalyptic even though the world obviously hasn't ended. It's like dark whimsy? Cool atmosphere.

Plant Man by Broken Robot Studios 2020-04-26T16:33:35Z

I really like the spring sound effect, very satisfying. The movement was a bit floaty/slidey, and the time it takes to pick up the plant again is a little long. I also got surrounded by bots at one point with no way out. It is also maybe a little unintuitive to throw the plant at the robots when they are also trying to grab the plant. I also wasn't quite sure what the big wall thing with the red button was supposed to do. At first I thought I had to avoid it. Good job though! I didn't encounter any bugs, everything seems to work fine and it looks good.

COMBO I N F I N I T Y by Pakmanlie 2020-04-22T23:17:07Z

Cool concept, reminds me of the punching bag minigame in Smash Bros mixed with hacky sack. I think having a dedicated jump button, and having W or the up arrow specifically only used for pointing your attack would make this a bit better. A sound effect for punching would have added a whole bunch to the game too. Maybe a slight hit stutter too. Overall, cool concept, and the game looks good.

Deep Root by Fever Dream Johnny 2020-04-21T16:33:41Z

The music is awesome and the aesthetic and concept really reminds me of Deep Rock Galactic. The graphics are amazing! It definitely feels very satisfying shooting the gun. However my tree died before any enemies appeared for some reason. I'm not sure what caused it. My turrets weren't shooting even. Overall, very cool game!

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-05-02T14:21:44Z

The graphics are good for a jam for sure, the spider is really well done (kind of looks like its body is a brain, like a Spider Mastermind in Doom). This is well executed. Your game also has a similar opening to the first dungeon in our game so there was a bit of a "hey cool" moment there for me. I do like the idea of later areas having some challenges where you MUST make noise, and it's hard to get something like this right in a jam game, but it would have been cool if there were creative ways to mitigate that noise. By the end it started to feel more like a chase scene than a sneak scene, and I think the intent was to make a game about avoiding noise, not a game where you have to run as fast as possible.

Devil Devour Alive by VirtuaWorlds 2020-04-22T20:18:42Z

You guys absolutely nailed the PSX / 90s-edge aesthetic. That's a great accomplishment. The music and graphics are both incredible! Great job!

Little Shop of Wall Street by davidwesst 2020-04-25T19:00:46Z

I love the classic look of the computer and the label that says "dads" haha. What was the planned feature for the computer I wonder? Good job completing your first jam.

God Simulator: Mountain Edition by MartinTale 2020-04-21T23:21:40Z

Cool idea, reminds me of Cookie Clicker or Universal Paperclips. It would be neat, but maybe difficult, to be able to zoom out all the way to see your whole tower.

Across the Lake by stephan steinbach 2020-04-28T15:18:39Z

Beautiful music and background art, and a very original concept. This game is quite relaxing. The day night cycle is gorgeous. Great job! I love the parallax effect.

Your Very Own Rising Pet by Jenicopolis 2020-04-25T03:31:05Z

Very cute, the demon bread ending made me laugh and the baby bread ending is very cute.

Son of a Liche by goblinkingmatt 2020-04-22T19:54:58Z

Reminds me a bit of Cortex Command! Cool idea, and very ambitious for a game jam game but I think you did a good job. The barrier drawing works well, the missiles can be a little finnicky, but overall I enjoyed it.

HOME by dconn537 2020-04-23T20:19:37Z

Awesome music and sounds. The atmosphere is very good. I like the idea of having limited number of shots makes it very tense too. Very good pixel art too! I really enjoyed this entry, great work!

Koita and the Elder Relics by Toasted Oregano 2020-04-25T23:54:41Z

I think your grounded check looks for any collision and sets you as grounded. I was able to fly by pressing up against a wall or roof. Weirdly enough it kind of added to the bizarre otherwordly atmosphere though. This entry definitely has something odd about it that stands out. The art is neat, I like the hand drawn aesthetic mixed with sprites. The contrast between the chiptunes and more organic music is odd but again, it kind of adds to the atmosphere, and I think the compositions were in general pretty good, but the chiptune was a little grating after a certain amount of time. It also doesn't really fit the theme, but that might just be my interpretation. Anyway, I don't want to sound negative, I genuinely think there's something interesting and unique about this game's atmosphere that stands out. Good job!

the ruins by ruby0x1 2020-04-24T20:33:40Z

This game has a good atmosphere, it felt very mysterious. The UI elements / text prompts that appeared are stylish. I think some sounds and music definitely would have helped though. There was also a point where my character dropped the plant from climbing up rather than falling down too far. Might have been a bug, or maybe I was landing on the wrong type of surface and didn't realize.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Goal and Crossbones by SkullPixel 2018-04-24T15:01:55Z

Amazing job! The music and sounds are great, the graphics are gorgeous, and the concept is hilarious and super fun. With a little more work this could honestly be a sellable game! If it had multiplayer I could see it being a big hit :)

Fish Master by Pheonise 2018-04-24T14:57:44Z

Awesome game! With some other rods and other fish type, I could see this going somewhere! I loved the music, it gave me a huge sense of nostalgia. Love the art too!

Just One More Flap by daneestar 2018-04-29T22:48:19Z

That's a really neat idea! Definitely one of the better matches for the theme that I've seen. The interface reminds me of Mario Paint. It took a long time to figure out how to play, but once I figured it out, it made perfect sense. I think maybe a thin white line with a low alpha channel drawn up from the birds on the bottom might help, as well as an on-screen tip or something. Overall, great game!

Super Turbo Fishing by funisfun8 2018-04-30T00:22:26Z

After 2 laps I got stuck in an endless loop where the "progress" UI kept flashing on and off at full, and it wouldn't kick into race mode. That being said, this was incredibly fun. What an amazing and creative idea! Great work!

Gun&Volleyball by DanteWang 2018-04-29T22:50:18Z

The graphics are amazing! The idea is really cool too, and it all runs very smoothly. Great job!

StarClick: RTS + Clicker by Lerg 2018-04-24T15:11:55Z

I loved this! I'm actually surprised by how thrilling it is too! I actually found myself on the edge of my seat a bit. The graphics are great, the music is super good, and the concept is so good! Not to mention it's also just a lot of fun. With a little more work, I think this could be a full game! The only downside is that the start menu didn't properly scale when switching to full screen mode, and the sound effects are a little low quality, but other than that you did an amazing job!

Very Realistic Waiter Simulator by Nathalia Hohl 2018-04-29T21:31:07Z

Very cute and funny! Good graphics (especially the food models) and a fun idea! The sound effects are very charming. Maybe try to prevent the customers from spawning while there is currently food in the air to prevent unfair game overs? Also, highlighting the food so that you know which is selected would be a good idea. I accidentally grabbed a hot dog when I meant to grab a burger once. I thought I had my mouse over the burgers, but I guess the hit box is a little large? Either way, great game!

Check, Please! by swav_gav 2018-04-29T21:35:38Z

The graphics and music are absolutely incredible. The production value in this is excellent! The controls work well, although I did find that when I accidentally knocked the salt off the table, it got into an endless spawning loop to my left. Easy to overlook issues like that though when the rest of the presentation is just so dang awesome! Amazing job!

Beet Running by BlackAtlas 2018-04-25T03:40:59Z

The graphics are absolutely amazing. The robot is very cute :) it looks like a baby chicken! Everything was very impressive. The way the camera slightly zooms in on the beat is very useful and intuitive. The music in the menu was great, but during gameplay it did eventually get very repetitive. Overall, this is a gorgeous and cool little game!

The aiming was definitely laggy, but it's a really great game for a jam! The graphics are decent, the 2 love interests are well-drawn, and the objectives give you some insight into their personality which is kind of cool. For balance purposes it would be neat if the jetpack contributed to the overheat UI element like the shotgun does. Might give it a cool give/take element.

Pinball Gardener by KianaMosser 2018-04-25T03:52:47Z

Gorgeous graphics! The sound and music is relaxing and nice. The concept is cool, and definitely one of the most original blends I've played so far! I did find a small bug where if you pre-pull the spring, if it's not fully pulled back the ball will fall through it and you'll lose a life. other than that it seems really cool! At first I thought that the weeds / bushes in the pinball machine were going to directly impact the garden if I didn't hit them enough. That would be a cool mechanic to implement so that the two genres have more interplay between them. With some more work I think this could be a genuinely sellable game. This is definitely a good concept!

Cool game! I love the idea, and it looks slick. It would be neat if all the tech options you chose had some sort of Faustian bargain, like maybe the axe doesn't do as much damage (maybe dealing more damage to the landscape as a result), but helps you gather faster, and the spears do a lot of damage, but don't increase the speed of your gathering at all (maybe dealing more damage to the wildlife as a result, or making your food stores run out faster). Anyways, great job!

Hello fellow Winnipeggers! I just got around to playing your game and oh my gosh, it's beautiful. You are both so talented! The art is just gorgeous, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Very good work!

I love it! For some reason this reminds me heavily of a mix between Valkyria Chronicles mixed with Mech Warrior 2. This is definitely in my top 5 of the jam so far!

It was a little difficult to get the items onto the plate, but overall it's a good idea and good execution. The art was good, the music and sounds were charming, but the controls were a little finicky. Often my aimer would "snap back" into a non-ideal position. That being said, it was definitely a good job! Scorched Earth was one of my faves back in the day, so it's nice to see an homage!
