LD39 — Running out of Power

E.M.P. by TheMadStrauss 2017-08-01T21:16:56Z

I loved the atmosphere, aesthetic and audio (which reminded me of Stranger Things!). I didn't finish it in the end but I enjoyed what I played. I would suggest signposting which item I'm switching to and there were a couple of cases where the screen faded to black just as some new text appeared which I didn't have time to read.

Well done :)

RUN! Before the power runs out! by zenmumbler 2017-08-01T22:16:38Z

22 seconds left but took me 4 tries. I almost had it on the first try but I thought the correct door was a dead end >.<

Zest & Goop by conk 2017-08-01T22:04:53Z

Awesome game, well done :) I liked the idea of having to run around collecting the crystals and converting them into zest to power the defences. I didn't fully understand the conversion machine, when I was trying to generate more zest but with the little time you had you've done really well :) Oh, nice art and soundtrack too!

Take my charge by josehzz 2017-08-01T21:41:08Z

This is a great submission and an innovative one at that; you’ve managed to capture a minimalist style as others have already commented in both the core gameplay mechanic and aesthetic which work nicely together! I liked the audio feedback but I think you could go one step further to have background ambience just to help fill the gaps where there’s brief silence. I liked your story too, it had a Thomas Was Alone vibe to it. Congrats!

Pajama Man and The Spooky Cave by xero560 2017-08-01T21:53:32Z

That was spoooooky!

Tales of a Hamster: A Clickable Journey by 0uicmoi 2017-08-01T22:45:42Z

Addictive but I don't want RSI :p nice art and anims, very cute.

Interesting concept and puzzles!

Thanks for all the feedback. As it turns out the PC controls aren't working as intended; we highly recommend using a gamepad if you have one handy for the best experience.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Goal and Crossbones by SkullPixel 2018-04-28T21:28:07Z

Awesome game -- it's quite addictive! The AI is pretty tough to beat, especially when there are two of them to get passed! Really enjoyed that, thanks!

If you have the time could you play and rate my team's game please? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Well done everyone! Thoroughly enjoyed it :)

Haha, simple yet effective. Nice work here - I love the characters! It reminds me of 'What's the time Mr Wolf'

If you would be so kind to play and rate my team's game that would be awesome! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Diner Dive by pebkac 2018-04-28T20:49:23Z

Cool, I like how you need to go and catch the fish before you can start cooking, well done for making this game!

I'd try and use more imagery to represent the ingredients - there was a lot of text, sometimes it was hard to read.

Congrats and well done! Keep making games!

Dance Dance Road Rage Revolutions by shackra 2018-04-28T17:49:09Z

This was hella' fun. I loved how you could try the controls in the tutorial screen, that was a nice touch.

I ended up playing with 'hjkl' because my 'a d' and left/right arrows were conflicting. If anything I think it played better with 'hjkl'. Good job!

It reminds me of a game I saw at EGX Rezzed in London called Double Kick Heroes.

Well done!

Great jam game, I'm glad all these years of typing have finally paid off! That jumping section was tough, thankfully the previous command option made it much easier!

Nightclub Showdown by deepnight 2018-04-28T21:20:44Z

Really enjoyed playing this, the core mechanics were solid. I felt like I could have done with some more feedback on the enemy turns. The grenade enemy was a nice touch to force me out of cover. Very clever game and well made. Congrats!

Check out and rate my team's game if you get the chance  https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Fat Panda! by Ethereal Psyche Games 2018-04-24T12:42:40Z

Love the art style! It's a great idea but I struggled reading and solving the challenges for the first time. Especially when the screen goes dark and you can only see your Panda.

Great entry!

Puttsy by morrilet 2018-04-25T23:31:03Z

This game was super addictive! I really enjoyed working out the solutions to the puzzles and watching the ball finally go in the hole where it belongs  It was super satisfying. Simple but fun! Congrats!

The only feedback I have is combining the tower placement and golf putt into one loop as opposed to separating them out. There could just be two buttons, retry and clear. I knew I had the correct solution but my putt was off -- it would have been nice to keep the tower placements without having to place them over and over when all I needed to do was get the putting angle and power right. When I'm ready to putt I could click on the ball and start the aim / power state.

Great entry!

Thrust Vector by pogo 2018-04-28T21:13:25Z

The game didn't run too well on my laptop but it seemed interesting! I didn't quite understand what I was doing at first... I spent a bit of time and started figuring things out but a little tutorial at the start would have been helpful. Even an opt in-tutorial or something.

Congrats on your jam game!

If you could play and rate my team's game that would be ace! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Dog Care Center by Fran Segura 2018-04-29T11:57:16Z

This game is GAME OF THE YEAR. It gets so hectic with all the doggos wanting attention. I swear one of them ate my god damn phone! I couldn't find it anywhere after they knocked it off the table haha. Incredibly fun, well done!

PainBall by Erik Brunnstrom 2018-04-29T11:13:05Z

This game had me fixated, I just wanted to score so god damn bad haha.

I feel like my steal ball (left shift) wasn't working. I'm not sure if I was doing it wrong but I couldn't seem to steal the ball off my opponent. I could only intercept, maybe this is a bug? Or maybe I'm just bad and didn't understand it!

The paintballing aspect felt a little underwhelming -- when you hit someone with a paintball, maybe they could get knocked back? I wasn't really sure what the point of hitting someone with a paintball was... do you get control of that character or something? Can you turn your opponents in allies and select them?

Very cool game here, lots of potential for an actual released title. I can imagine this game doing well if it had a couch coop aspect to it. I'd focus a little more on the paintball aspect of the game and flesh that out as that's the most interesting component to the game which would make it stand out from others.

Obviously this was a jam game and it looks like you were one person, take my feedback with a pinch of salt ;). Good job, you have a gem here!

If you have a moment could you play and rate my team's game? We're very open to feedback too so please feel free to comment! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Jumpcard by pestodesign 2018-04-25T22:44:51Z

What a lovely idea! I like the attention to detail, the art style is cool and the audio feedback was spot on. Nice mix of genres!

It took me a few attempts to get used to the jump mechanic but I really enjoyed it afterwards.

Nailed it!

Dance Invader by Alcarendor 2018-04-25T22:53:33Z

Haha, this was a fun game to play. It took me a few minutes to understand the game loop. I think I came very close to saving some people but it looks like they got fried in the beam. Groovy!

YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-28T21:03:57Z

This was a very moving experience. You managed to mix visual, audio and story elements perfectly to elicit the emotions I believe you were after. You're also a very talented artist! Congratulations on getting this done during a jam! The level of visual polish is really nice. The movement on the menus were a nice touch too!

Please check out my team's game and rate if you have the time! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

Blocks'N'Blaster by HPMNK 2018-04-25T21:48:04Z

Wow! I love the tetris / platformer combination, that was awesome! Nice work!

I found it a little tricky to shoot at different angles. It would have been nice to have the ability to jump on the falling tetrominos to make it easier in getting from one side to the next, especially as the level beings to rise!

Awesome job, great entry!

Tennis Hero by JeffChen 2018-04-25T23:09:57Z

Shuffle Climber by miroky 2018-04-25T23:42:54Z

Best credits screen this LD41. Hands down. 5 star for humour right there. No questions asked. When does it become available on iTunes?

Really enjoyed the game, well done to everyone involved. I think there was a bug when clicking on the cards too quickly (webGL version?). It wouldn't perform the action.

It's super difficult at the start, it would be nice if the camera started off a little slower and ramped up over time just to get a bit of a head start. The RNG was tough on me, didn't get many up cards which led to the constant spamming of left and right!

Congrats!

If you have time to play and rate my team's game that would be awesome! We'd love to hear your feedback in the comments section too! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/check-please

BIRKANOID by MateCziner 2018-04-28T20:34:53Z

Played quite well and the slow down on the card selection stuff felt quite nice. Good job!

Catchinko by Team Yarn 2018-04-28T20:27:01Z

Nice idea, it's satisfying seeing the cat bounce around. It felt like the game almost played itself! I didn't feel like I had much agency over the direction of the cat. Nice rainbow tail though!
