LD39 — Running out of Power

VUEL by Jezzamon 2017-08-05T02:11:51Z

Everything's so quirkily funny and cute in this game - the eyebrow mechanic, the art, the music, the descriptions of each enemy. I love it. The shop person kinda creeps me out. They're still cute though. Thanks for making this lovely game. PS.Can't say my high score because it's embarrassingly low but I bought 3 eyebrows.

Lights Out by MikomiKisomi 2017-08-05T23:41:09Z

I like the humor. The fairy made me actually lol. The plot was interesting; I've never heard of such terrorizing fairies before. I really like how intuitive the controls feel. I'm wondering what tools you're using; the game is bug free and combines visual novels with RPGs, something I've wanted to do for a long time.

I'm Fine by Rodrigo Spilimbergo 2017-08-04T02:54:36Z

Wow.. I don't know what to say. I cried. Still crying. This is a highly emotional game and speaks to me on a personal level. If I had a choice, I'd have everyone play this game. I'm so impressed you got this done in only 2 half days, too. I hope you're okay. Thank you so much for making this.

Oh yea - thanks for including Jukedeck in the credits. Never heard of it before; I tried it out and it's great. Might use it for my games too.

PS Still thinking about this. This was really inspirational and I'm definitely saving it to my favorite games.

I'm Fine by Rodrigo Spilimbergo 2017-08-23T16:50:02Z

@rodrigo-spilimbergo Excellent to hear!!! I'm doing well these days, too. No problem; thanks again for the emotional journey, if you ever wanna talk I'm totally open.

Jetpack June and the Tower of Power by geeitsomelaldy 2017-08-01T23:46:41Z

Nice! It was a lot more complex than I expected. The challenges are really well-designed and crafted. It's definitely for someone who loves strategy games, because you could spent quite some time trying to figure out all the puzzles :P Good job.

Power Rod by sixteen 2017-08-02T00:10:38Z

Nice, it reminds me of purposefully hard-to-control games like Surgeon Simulator and QWOP (not nearly as hard as QWOP though haha). The fish are so cute! Pretty fun overall.

Pain That Binds Us by Jungle 2017-08-21T15:33:30Z

I really loved it; on the whole, if it was fleshed out, I feel like it could be a hit. I'm not sure what I was supposed to take away from the story, but I think the story was about the process of grief for the main character. Comment on story: felt a bit predictable, especially with the screenshot (saw it on itch.io). That's not a bad thing if it still leaves me with emotion, which it kinda did.

Modern Ninja by Lukesta 2017-08-01T03:08:43Z

awesome! The music is really catchy. I like how most of the level is dark and you have night vision - I usually only see that in horror games, not strategy. Obligatory - do a barrel roll! :p

Note, settings button didn't do anything in browser.

Running the Marathon by gamepopper 2017-07-31T22:16:55Z

I don't know why, but I got into a really good flow/atmosphere with this game. Maybe it's the black itch.io background? :P Genuinely, I think it's because of how well the sound and graphics went together. Really simple, but almost sorta rugged. I've ran half-marathons and I get the same sorta feeling from them. Good job!!

LOW BATT by simonhutchinson 2017-08-04T01:48:59Z

That was honestly... so good. An almost out-of-body experience. I felt so soothed and calmed after it was all over, and I really needed that, thank you. I felt like I was on a journey the whole time, and when the last block faded out alongside the music, it was so cathartic, almost like 'you're done here. You can rest now.' It reminds me of Thomas was Alone in how emotional it can make the player with just simple graphics and a narrative.

And I can't not talk about the music :D That might be the greatest thing about this submission. Totally amazing and calming, and a totally new twist on music-making games for me - I can actually make the music in real time instead of making patterns on a synth pad.

re: is this a game? It definitely is. The only requirement is that the player influences what happens, and that's checked - not to mention the increasing difficulty, narrative, and other design choices :D

LD39:Running out of energy by johnnwfs 2017-08-05T23:22:02Z

This was quite fun, really needs strategizing to win. I like the sound effects, makes you feel like you're genuinely in space. I thought the loudness of your ship was purposeful. If not, my advice is to make the sfx of your and the energy stealer's ships different when you get the bolt, because I'd like to intuit whether or not I got it. I think this was great for Compo, and your attitude towards feedback is admirable.

PS I got 700 points :D

Power Ring Facility by Herman Chau 2017-08-01T01:49:48Z

this is really interesting :) I personally have never played a game with this mechanic before (temporary power to jump).

The graphics are really nice - even though the art is super simple, the color scheme + physics are super good. (I swear, you must've used tweening somehow, its so smooth).

I think it has potential for a good story. To be honest, when it said 'stop', I was spooked for a bit :D

My advice is to move the "shift to discharge" text more to the left so it shows up in the whole screen; I was confused on what 'shift' would do.

I also thought it ended at 1.003.. woops. Not sure if intentional design choice or not! Either way, super fun and intriguing!

OCTORG by dude_the_hero 2017-08-02T01:13:19Z

It's a very short and simple game. What I like about it is that the controls are simple and intuitive - something that can be hard to do. And I probably should be scared of the squid, but it's pretty cute XD

My advice would be to add sfx and a restart button - I had to refresh the tab whenever I wanted to beat that squid down :P Other than that, it was pretty nice.

Power Play by reuno 2017-08-06T15:19:32Z

Hey Reuno, I had to check this out because I love your work. This game is awesome.

The graphics are amazing - cohesive colors, simple shapes that let me know what's going on - I know your post-mortem said you're not really good at modelling but I think the graphics are one of the best in this LD. Music is really great; I think it fits the calm/minimal art style well; I think the BPM could be sped up a bit to match the action going on. Regarding the gameplay, it's at a perfect difficulty for me. The only thing I'd add there is that I'd like to know more about the powerups/ different types of enemies. I'd rather play the game than try to figure out what those things are. Again, awesome work, especially for one person; my advice is nitpicking. Looking forward to your future work.

Devil's Curse by herniewise 2017-08-01T05:44:24Z

This is really awesome. Literal adrenaline-rushing demon fighting. Pretty polished too. Good job!!

Kinda nitpicky, but I appreciate how you can test out the inputs (jump, move etc) in the beginning before actually starting the game; good for forgetful people (cough me).

I was so impressed I tried to look through your source code but I don't use Construct so XD

Intrepid by Arkthalohs 2017-08-04T01:36:07Z

This is amazingly creative and complex for a Compo game. I'm loving it. It's definitely one of the LD39 games that I've spent the longest playing; the right amount of stuff is happening to hold my attention. The music is also really, really immersive - great beats. It really reminds me of a card game. Nice mix of 2D and 3D graphics too!! Great job! :D

Reactor Defence by Dene 2017-08-02T23:15:43Z

This was really fun. I think this is the most immersed I've been in solving an LD39 game yet. And I absolutely love the music :) Some really great game design/balancing here.

My only advice would be to include a tutorial, or at least show where the turret+reactors are, and describe how you earn money (still not sure); I was confused in the beginning about those. Overall, really fun :D High marks on Fun!

Ghost's End by austinspafford 2017-08-01T02:49:29Z

This is REALLY cool. I'm so impressed. I just spent who-knows-how-many minutes clicking on parts of my room and face.. BRB, looking at source code.

Bead on the moon by Hishicorne 2017-07-31T21:50:28Z

I love the art. Before I even began playing I knew it'd be good.

"little piece of deserter" haha. The capitalized caption for spicy is so funny. Actually all the humor is honestly golden - it's unique and quirky.

I also love the music! It's so chill and ambient. Combined with the pastel-ish color scheme, it makes for a really nice atmosphere.

My advice is to speed up the dialogue - it was too slow for me, even when pressing down - and fix the grammar. Also, maybe make the recipes more intuitive. Great work, it made me laugh :DD

BATTERYMAN RECHARGES THE WORLD! by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-08-01T04:14:07Z

Who did the sound? I don't usually notice sound, but the music and sfx in this are stunning, I couldn't stop paying attention to it. The voiceovers are hilarious, not sure if intentional haha.

The art's also gorgeous. Cohesive color scheme; bright lights so I know what to pay attention to. Nice vfx too :P

Fascinating game mechanic; I've never played it before (targeting then rotating) - it's unique to charging batteries, one would say :P

My advice: I would like to know how to move in the beginning; no directions were provided. Also, maybe the story could be fleshed out more; for example, I don't know why or how BatteryMan is saving the world. Is the world in a blackout? Is it BatteryMan's *destiny*? Overall, I found it really enjoyable :D

Last Shine by Fran Segura 2017-08-01T21:13:37Z

I love how you interpreted the word 'power' as 'superpower' and not electrical power - haven't seen that yet :P The controls 'x' and 'b' didn't work for me :( I'm using the web version. Other than that, this game's pretty nice. The intro moved me. The guy just wants to be young again!

Cute Chute by xel 2017-08-02T22:42:05Z

Oh my goodness.. that description pulled me in; the plot made me stay. It's so dark yet funny at the same time. I knew there was something suspicious about that park ranger!! Really nice polish too - the cute animal's animations, the UI, the fact that you can speed up dialogue (super grateful for that). I really liked it :D Makes you have to think outside of the box. My only advice is to lengthen/randomise the audio a bit so it doesn't get too repetitive - its beats/snares were great, though. Overall, I had a lot of fun :))

Blitztanz by haette 2017-08-01T20:43:10Z

I like how the white blocks are what saves you and kills you. The gameover screen made me laugh. It was pretty fun!! My only recommendation is to make it progressively more difficult as time goes on.

e Negative by jhandsy 2017-08-01T02:37:43Z

This is really solid. I love the physics/character movement. The forcefulness makes it so that you need to strategize every move you make. This game is so polished, I almost can't believe it came out of a jam :p

South by zchen 2017-08-02T22:55:09Z

This was actually really fun. I love how it suddenly got more adrenaline-rushing/exciting on loop 5. Great color scheme, sfx; overall, excellent work! I got to loop 6 and shot 26 (big accomplishment, I'm bad at shooting games lol).

I think this would be really good for the mobile market - people love rollercoasters. It just needs polish :D

Side note: I absolutely love how you have to shoot to trigger 'start' on the start screen. The world needs more games with interactable start screens :D

How Many Squirrels? by Herluf 2017-07-31T22:04:26Z

It's my first time participating too!

Wow, I honestly really love this. The humor is kind of random, I think it's great. I defeated so many squirrels :D I like how Dave is just watching you, not doing anything to help.

The art is really nice and cohesive.

I think the atmosphere would really be enhanced with some energetic music, but other than that, I'm surprised - in a good way :D

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-07-31T23:28:54Z

omg!! Thanks all for the great feedback! I'm so happy you guys liked it.

@sir-mr-dr-prof-sr-jr-phd yeahh.. I interpreted 'power' as psychological power, woops :P

@gmfk07 there are 3 'justice' endings, all of which are slightly related and bring a new level of complexity to the plot.

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-02T13:48:19Z

Thanks so much for all the nice feedback :DD I'm kinda overwhelmed. So glad you guys like the art and music.

Bugs! I'm going to try fixing the bugs O_O

@yetman I'll try to use WordNet, thank you for showing me!! PS just in case you're confused, choices /= endings. Kinda makes me sad you only got 2.. Mind sharing what you inputted/tried?

@diptoman I don't want to limit player freedom too much - I have some pretty blatant hints in the 'help' button - what else would you suggest?

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-02T21:34:58Z

:D My day is brightened by these comments! I came home early from work to modify the game based on feedback. Maybe this isn't allowed, but I canโ€™t stand by and watch my player experience be subpar. Itโ€™s now: * Easier: First time you click the help button, it gives you 4 basic commands, think, talk, observe, and grab. The second time you click it, you get the walkthrough link. * After losing > 4 times, the lose cutscene is much shorter. * 15 more choices using http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/ from @ and Youtuber playthroughs (thanks, @yetman!) * Fixed bug caused when pressing โ€˜enterโ€™ many times (I think) * Fixed weird logic causing certain dialogues to go out of order

Iโ€™ve also attached the Game Jam version in the description. If this breaks LD rules, please tell me. Thanks, everyone who gave feedback!

@ganbaregameskyle I don't have a Linux so I can't test it :( I rebuilt it tho. Not sure what's going on there.

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-03T15:16:28Z

Thanks guys for all the great feedback :) @vulpem that's probably the nicest thing anyone has said to me :)) In the post-jam (itch.io) version I gave the 4 most important commands. Not to go all academic, but.. (Spoilers)

@gonutz The true rate of female-on-male abuse is actually around 20% ([National Incident-Based Reporting System](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Sherry_Hamby/publication/259918579_Intimate_Partner_and_Sexual_Violence_Research_Scientific_Progress_Scientific_Challenges_Gender/links/54e7613a0cf277664ffa6779/Intimate-Partner-and-Sexual-Violence-Research-Scientific-Progress-Scientific-Challenges-Gender.pdf)). Besides, the point of this game is to make you feel helpless - in this case, a trial for a male-on-female abuse case is optimum, because men are more likely to be charged for abuse than women ([Carney et al. 2007](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/222426549_Women_Who_Perpetrate_Intimate_Partner_Violence_A_Review_of_the_Literature_With_Recommendations_for_Treatment)).

@mr-houdini - thank you so much!! :) I understand bipolar is a mood disorder. I based this off of a true story of a friend I know. Bipolar may not cause changes in personality, but it can cause people to do things they never would otherwise, which is why medication is important. Also, female perpetrators of abuse are more often to have personality dysfunction or mood disorder ([Henning et al., 2003](http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0886260503253876)). Note: Or.

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-03T18:18:37Z

@mr-houdini Ah I see. You have a point. When I get home from work I'll revise the narrative so it's less stigmatizing. Thanks for being respectful :D

Run and Slash by Aycan 2017-08-01T03:51:19Z

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the sound effects are *hilarious* :D I cracked up when I first heard them. It was pretty fun :) My only advice would be to make it more challenging, or have a "difficulty level" setting for easy/medium/hard, because it was a bit too easy for me.

Robo Nanny by kalyrical 2017-08-05T23:49:50Z

Hey, it looks really cute and I'd love to play it. I managed to open it on my Mac by using Terminal and following the link about Gatekeeper. However, when I open it on my Mac, the message 'Unable to find game!!' pops up.

Failing Empire by Mad_Fizban 2017-07-31T21:57:36Z

I really like this game :) It has a bit of a slice-of-life feel to it - it feels more realistic than other resource management games I've played. Personally, it makes me take the game more seriously.

I like how you learn by trial and error too. I don't really see that in resource management games I've played.

My advice is to randomize or lengthen the audio more, because the loop started to become tedious for me. But that's a nitpick - I really like everything. It's great for Compo!

The Last by Vija02 2017-08-04T02:23:37Z

Wow, with just styled HTML and Reactjs? God I admire this. This is so great for Compo. I'm kinda envious of your web dev skills :P

This has a great mood. Really creepy/eerie; probably the creepiest I've played out of all the LD39 games so far. Very intriguing and tense narrative. I loved finding out what happened to the previous guy. I think you'd be good at making horror games :D

"..39th time this happened" reference to LD39? lol. My only advice would be to insert more bandages (easier) as others have said, and maybe include a minimap in the corner. These are all theoretical of course, and good to keep in mind for future similar games; for compo, I am so impressed. :D

AtomoS by DayDreamerStudios 2017-08-04T01:58:44Z

Thanks so much for this fun little game. I really liked trying out all the abilities I have. Yellow is definitely my favorite; in fact, it might be a little bit too powerful :P My only advice is to balance how powerful each ability is. This definitely has potential as a casual game/mobile game. Overall, great job.

The Truth by Jolix 2017-08-01T23:55:13Z

I'm not ashamed to say I watched the hamster run out of power for quite a few minutes. The graphics are amazing, btw.

< Mr. Plug > by Drachmor 2017-08-01T03:40:56Z

what the heck, this is so cute :D That plug's little smile! I really like discovering how the level will change each time. Now all you need are some snazzy sfx :D

Ned and His Powerbars by chillhammer 2017-08-02T22:27:23Z

Hey Andrew!! Nice to see you on Ludum Dare :D

I can't believe you trolled players in the beginning lmao. I really liked the art; not only did it have a cohesive color scheme and a cute style, but the transitions and animations felt really natural with the movement. Speaking of movement - I really loved the physics in this game - the floaty jump, the angled punches, the downward smash. I always have trouble with that; good job :P And I picked hug her face, not kill it!! XD

My only advice - include a restart button, and maybe give a bigger warm-up period because I had to replay a few times to figure out how to kill the :^).

PS Nice website btw. I share the same vision (re: emotional impact), isn't that great?? :DD

Wave by logiraffe_shawn 2017-08-01T02:24:33Z

The preview image pulled me in.

Everything after that made me stay.

I'm kinda wordless right now. The story was so poignant and everything in it served a purpose, I think. I'm still trying to figure out what the interactable lights symbolize - power? And there seems to be an overarching message about pollution.. I'll be remembering this game for a long while.

Furnace Knight by Juman22 2017-08-02T00:40:00Z

That was awesome :) So much action! Here I am, wearing a bat as a hat:

Screen Shot 2017-08-01 at 8.36.24 PM.png

When It Counts by http404error 2017-08-01T05:23:03Z

This was a very interesting story :D They all want to say my name!! I like how the NPCs have unique characters and you can learn more about yourself by talking to them.

Blackout by Felipe Tavares 2017-08-02T01:45:15Z

This was very surprising; the design feels complex and well-thought out, and it managed to hold my attention for many minutes. I really liked the small details - day/night cycle, handwritten note-like UI, so many icons, and - is that a cute cat holding my resource bill!?! :D

If you plan to flesh it out, I suggest including a difficulty curve and introducing different kinds of icon one at a time - at first, I was overwhelmed by all the icons, and didn't know what the difference between the 'plug' and 'city' icon was. Then later, as I got more skilled, I thought it could be harder. Overall, awesome entry :D

Step out of the light by Zdeno 2017-08-04T02:10:42Z

Huge amount of quality puzzles/content. Adorable voice (did you use a generator, and which, if you don't mind sharing? :P). I feel like whoever made this are professionals; I think this might be one of the better LD submissions. My only advice is to increase the number of voiced jokes so the player doesn't have to hear the same one many times, but I understand the time limit. This is really, really great for LD Jam. Congrats.

PS I adore the start screen. I've only seen interactable start screens in a few games - the world needs more! :P

Flicker by roaderful 2017-08-01T23:14:32Z

Absolutely great mood; seems really polished - that parallax!! I've never seen puzzles quite like this before; aka a puzzle about electricity that includes volts and switches. All it needs for it to be a full, sellable game is a tutorial scene/easier learning curve/more levels.

Lost Soul by daviddiagonza 2017-08-06T01:07:32Z

Wow.. brilliant mood. It's haunting and creepy. This must be one of the better entries, in my opinion. I only have two things I'd like to point out. One - I'm a bit confused on the purpose of bodies that follow me - do they drain my power or is it to add to the creep factor? Two, the difficulty of the game is unpredictable each round. Not sure if intentional. Thanks so much for this game. The atmosphere and sound is quite inspiring.

HOME IS DEAD by ahintoflime 2017-08-01T05:06:09Z

It's a very action-packed game with nice physics; quite fun to play around with :) Nice work, especially for your first solo work!

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the main character either reminds me of a cute duck or bunny lol.

My advice would be to make the controls more intuitive or have the ability to map controls because I usually jump with 'w' in wasd so it felt a bit strange. Once I got used to it, though, I really enjoyed it.

PS I see that "you aren't supposed to be here" ;) I'll do what I want!

Let's go to the mall by Quixx 2017-08-01T00:33:18Z

This is super cute and definitely relatable. I got a score 84 - that's good, right? :D

I like how intuitive the controls are, and I love the concept - intriguing and quick to get its message across.

My only advice is to make it harder. I didn't run out of breath once. Also, my score never seems to change from 84, so I'm not sure what influences score.

Overall, 10/10 would play!! :D

Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing by RootPew 2017-08-02T00:54:34Z

Haha, wow. 'You have small hands.' This is really funny. And just when I thought I'd seen them all.. 'I'd date ivanka trump.' Why'd I have to type that!? XD

My only suggestion is to make the sfx for finishing typing and failing typing something different; when the texts were really close to the face I was confused on whether I finished typing it or not. But that isn't a yuge issue. Other than that, I think this is very bigly and high energy ;)

Qwik by Sno0w 2017-08-01T03:30:15Z

I really like the physics. The title 'Qwik' is aptly named. This is something I can see becoming a popular browser game, on sites like Kongregate/GameJolt/etc; it just has that immersive and challenging quality to it :)

There's No Place Like Home by Remzo 2017-08-02T00:34:25Z

It doesn't work on my Mac - I get "You can't open the application 'ld39-020817' because it may be damaged or incomplete." I really love the graphics, though. :(

ANSWER ME! by Viliar 2017-08-01T01:38:07Z

haha, I love it.

It has a unique mechanic. I've never seen typing games used like this - used to tell a story almost.

It's a really interesting take on the theme, and one that I can relate to; I have a crap phone myself.

I especially love how the main character switches their personality to accommodate the person; e.g. you're more professional with the boss. But you still have the choice to be blunt and rude (the short responses make me lol so hard).

My advice is to make the directions more clear. It took some time for me to understand how to play, but after I got it, I had a lot of fun. Maybe, after clicking a response, a prompt with "now type that response - quick!" appears. Overall, it's quite awesome :)

Planet Power by barret907k 2017-08-01T05:15:11Z

I like it :D It honestly feels like one of those top mobile games - unique and simple mechanic, minimalist art/sound. All it needs is polish.

I suggest a prompt/how to play, because I didn't know how to aim at first. Overall this game is pretty inspiring because of the core mechanic :D

LAST INSTANTS OF LIGHT by Kilirane 2017-08-01T02:02:41Z

This looks utterly gorgeous, and I love immersive and atmospheric games, so I'd just love to play this, but.. I got a ''lastinstantsoflight' quit unexpectedly' pop-up. I'm using Mac OSX.

Murder on 39th Street by vadinci 2017-08-01T20:37:33Z

I can't believe you took this theme so above and beyond. How do you even code this?!? Impressive.

The Crossing by Crabman 2017-08-02T18:02:06Z

The music is amazing. Did you make it? If so, how??? :D

I kind of can't believe you made this in 4 hours. It's pretty minimal, but I still get a great mood from it. I also love the story - it really brings to imagination escaping real world regimes, or fictional regimes (1984). The only thing I'd advise is to maybe have more excitement as the player goes on. Even something as simple as blending a panting/tired animation is good. Overall, great job.

Drytown by DavidPIxel 2019-05-09T06:32:31Z

Awesome work guys!! This game looks so beautiful - the mood is insane.

The font's a lil hard to read

Love the sound effects and high level of polish!!!

When I press esc it closes the dialogue so I can't read the rest of it? I was expecting a pause menu/nothing

Wow can I say again - insane polish

asshole vampire "forest guide" screwed me over i-

Love how we don't have to play the whole game over again if we die because I suck at these kinds of games

I got stuck at getting trapped in the area with the fallen tree - i couldn't give the cutter my 2 units because I'd die :/

Jamsterdam by fonserbc 2019-05-09T06:40:51Z

WOW the biaural sonuds got me shook. The SOUNDS are amazing! The graphics are gorgeous as well. I can totally imagine myself in Amsterdam.

Some things I noticed: I can walk through buildinsg??

I'm not really sure what the point of the game was? s the whole mechanic of the game to hold down the mouse and sing for as long as possible?

Gacha by zchen 2019-05-09T07:06:40Z

AAAA you've done it again you've made an amazing game again~~~~

THIS IS SO CUTE this feels like it has a ton more personality than the last game of yours I've played congrats!

Ugh the animations, the polish! So good

So happy I can play gacha games without having to spend money lol

Wow but onto the story of the game - hit me in the feels because I went straight into the game thinking it was mere shallow gacha but nope it was about LIFE. And I could relate to my little items!! There were some sad items (was called weird - yep lol I feel it) and some lovely items (like a love for reading!) God the items and their little descriptions were so real, I loved it. Better than other gacha - I kept wanting to get items but because I could relate, not cause they were kawaii waifus.

Thanks for the amazing game! Can't wait to see what you come out with next jam.

missed messages. by Angela He 2019-05-07T21:52:25Z

@zchen thank you, I'm glad you could relate... ToT I can't wait to see what you did with the theme with your game as soon as I get time!

@franvadillo thank you! Probably lofi is what you're looking for :3

missed messages. by Angela He 2019-05-13T15:30:50Z

The 7 Cents Deal by Probe31 2019-05-09T06:49:39Z

THE CUTEST THING OMG!!!! THE ART THE TRANSITIONS THE MEOW SOUND EFFECTS THE A N I M A T I O NS THEY'RE PERFECT PERFECT IM FUCKING GASPING!! <3 <3 <3

THAT color theory teach me your ways u_____u

jajaja i didn't know i'd be doing math tonight, a subject i usually despise, but when there's cats it's so much more fun~ I could feel myself getting better at quick arithmetic!

Some things: - got stuck in credits screen, couldn't figure out how to exit - I got kinda confused how to play - the instructions weren't the clearest to me? Maybe a tutorial round would be great - Does the math get harder as you progress? bc the problems seemed to be equal difficulty as I went on

Soul Exchange by Dennis Jeong 2019-05-09T06:58:29Z

WOW THE MUSIC IS GORGEOUS and so is the art wtf

omfg I didn't expect my spooder frens to be destroyed by Mr Reaper himself that got me in the feels

Nitpicks: - Loading screen is incongruent with pixel aesthetic - Sometimes controls would be confusing - I'd expect to move forward with D but I could only move forward with W, etc

I cannot wait to see if you'll continue this game/input art for the placeholder sprites. I had a lot of fun playing as different animals, with each animal having its unique mechanic; really compelling concept that I haven't seen before!

Slice of Scythe by Miyolophone 2019-05-09T06:22:53Z

thank u for the game!! its a wonderful short story that's awesome for how much time you had!

i noticed there's a weird bulging effect with graphics?

BID DADDY SATAN IM YELLINGG -

That transition and the whole aesthetic/art has me uwu soft eye-

I couldn't get the math problem right but I can't believe I'm a CS major who's done linear algebra I'm shaking

Cutest sassiest writing we stan "Full offense but-" jajajjajhkhjjk

Might want to adjust the balance of mini games because I kept failing them but I really appreciate their addition to up my engagement!!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Toil of Pnamos by unpronounceable 2020-10-12T16:34:48Z

I'm a sucker for typing games so had to play :) Pretty fun; I think strong points for me are fun, graphics, and audio. I like how as I get further, difficulty increases; e.g. capital letters are introduced. I wonder whether the intention is to type the letters in order; as it is, I can type the letters in any order, so I can keyboard bash and pass the levels. Good job overall!

a nice place by netmute 2020-10-10T21:37:08Z

This was a memorable and smooth experience, thank you. I love the story concept of ending up back at a place over and over again because you're dissatisfied in some way and need to resolve that dissatisfaction. The graphics were very cute and the ocean sounds and dialogue sound effects were quite good. I agree with larsdahl that'd it'd be nice to flip the houses so that I don't have to pause moving every time I enter/exit a house. Other than that, I loved the game, thanks for sharing!

BLOBIUS by chaoclypse 2020-10-09T15:48:41Z

This was REALLY GOOD. Probably the best ludum dare game I've played so far. Hope you'll continue working on this. I have literally 0 complaints.

The Trolliest Problem by allthebees 2020-10-12T16:27:47Z

This was so funny :) "A panda child who will find the cure for panda cancer" "BTS" "the abstract concept of happiness" lmaooo. I played this twice for the laughs and to see what would happen if i hit vs not hit. I love the text effects (wave, color etc) that add personality.

A wish I have is for the text to complete writing if I press space again so I don't have to wait.

A confusion I had was.. after "Have a nice day", is that the end of the game? It would be cool if that was made clearer; I couldn't tell if it was the end or the game bugged out.

Overall this might be the funniest entry I've played, thanks for the laughs!! :D

Rock of Ages by nervous-composers 2020-10-08T19:53:03Z

Lol nice concept, reminds me of the intro of the game Rock of Ages. Is there an ending?

Mission โˆž by ryzy27 2020-10-10T19:03:11Z

The sound effects are so funny haha. When the ambient light intensity is set to max, it's perfect for me, maybe because I'm not great at shooter games. Maybe the low light intensity could work if there was some sound indicator of where enemies are, like localized footsteps? I like the concept of having low visibility but I like to have some sense of where things are.

Overall, cute art, impressive amount of content given the time constraints; I'm impressed you were able to make such a robust stealth/shooter game!

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-06T11:29:27Z

@emily-pitcher sadness lol I was definitely not aware of those bugs so thank you for telling me! There's for sure an obvious ending rip time to kill bugs xD I'm so glad I could inspire you and I'll be sure to check out your first (exciting!!!) jam game once I sleep xDD

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-06T11:30:00Z

@eoshadows i'll look into that bug!! And thank you!! :)))

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-07T13:55:11Z

@jusw85 Thank you!!! How could the controls be tightened? And did you get stuck as in you couldn't figure your way off that island? You're supposed to jump off on the far right of the island; I wonder how to make that more clear..

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-07T23:02:50Z

Thanks @jusw85. I think I found what you were talking about and fixed the bugs - about the controls, I'll have to think about how to make it less 'floaty' since there's so many ways to fix that and I want to get it right.. :P Thanks so much for the feedback!!

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-09T22:14:08Z

@celuloide omg yeah RIP I need to figure out why that sometimes happens!! Thanks so much for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much ^____^

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-09T22:23:19Z

@flying-dog-fish yay my post-jam bug fixing worked ^^;; Thank you!!

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-10T18:37:41Z

@lereveur lol thank you for liking my entries! I'm glad you got the beautiful and creepy vibes, that was what I was going for :P I'm interested in knowing what you thought it was trying to transmit?

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-12T14:31:15Z

@aljon the password is "ld".

@lereveur oh nice! thanks for sharing. I like that last phrase. the story we were envisioning was this girl gets stuck in her head more and more with low self confidence, trying to anything she can to look/be better, destroying herself in the process; before she destroys her friends too, she realizes she should turn back.

@francesco thank you! the part that fit the theme was supposed to be the looping of where mirrors send you. I guess it could be more obvious :P No, I haven't played Celeste; maybe I should.

@arad-hamidsamiee thank you :) Thanks for bug reports, will fix! Can I know which actions disable dialogues?

WHAT I SAW by Angela He 2020-10-25T23:57:05Z

@ddrkirbyisq omfg Dr Kirby I didn't know you were in this jam, I have to play and rate yours before the day is up!

Thanks for all your good points, I also feel like the narrative is rushed and not as strong :( Hopefully when I flesh this out further for a public release it'll be better :) I'll try to make things less confusing as well. Lol yeah you can jump over enemies... I'm definitely gonna rethink the mechanics in 2.0!

PS Im honored you commented, your work is very impressive :)

MonkeyVM by abvadabra 2020-10-10T22:59:49Z

I think this is hands down my favorite entry. Not only is the idea incredibly smart, but the execution is so well-done; I'm surprised at the amount of levels and visual/audio polish that was put into this game. My friend and I spent quite a bit of time pondering over each level. Super fun! Thanks for a fantastic entry!

Party Pooper by Bibicio 2020-10-09T15:54:57Z

LOL this was so funny :) Humor was definitely the strongest point for me. I love the little comic prologues. Everything else suited the humor - the graphics were cute and birthday-themed, the music was whimsical, the attacks were thematic. The items were cute n funny too. I wish it was a little harder, maybe? It seems like etrealjunior had a hard time getting to the end, but it was quite easy for me; I just had to ignore the monsters and make a run for it. Anyways this was a great experience and if you continue working on it I'm delighted to see where it will go!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-10T21:56:47Z

Soooo fun. Damn! How do you think of a concept like this? High marks on innovation and fun for sure!

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-10T21:46:13Z

This was pretty fun! I'm wondering how it relates to the theme other than restarting every time you die (which I feel like is a pretty generic feature of games where you can die)? Other than that, everything was on point - the graphics, the gameplay, the music. I loved playing as bloodthirsty duck haha. Good job!

Stuck by SnailRhymer 2020-10-10T22:03:17Z

This was pretty depressing in a good way :) The art and sound effects really contributed to a god-tier mood... too bad I can't seem to rate for mood. That was definitely the strongest part of this, I think. I got surreal, uncanny vibes; especially during the typing and eating scene - those scenes just exacerbated the mundaneness of everyday tasks. I loved the mouth of the person during the eating scenes; really creepy. Good job!

Hangin' Around by Nocity 2020-10-10T22:13:42Z

Interesting take on the theme, very literal :laughing: Good circus theme and cute gameboy transitions. I had fun playing it! Some wishes: - getting to the knife was unclear and took a long time? I kept clicking on the knife but my guy took forever to swing to it for some reason - When the foot kicks the metal bar, shouldn't UI bar become green instead of red at the time you should click? That's the convention for those types of mini games, I thought

Other than that, it was a great experience. Good job!

TIME TO DANCE! by Savvy Community 2020-10-10T18:55:35Z

Cute and funny :) I loved the different poses, they were all so humorous!

Stuck in The Loop by EOShadows 2020-10-10T22:19:41Z

Hi, I couldn't open it in Mac as well; I got the same error as shosanna. I did the following from the Terminal:

``` chmod -R +x Mac\ Build\ 2.app ```
And it worked!
I liked the mood and graphics as everyone said; and as many have mentioned, I thought the text was too slow and would've liked an option to skip the typewriting effect and just see it all, especially feeling the time pressure. It's like.. Come on, lady! This is not the time! Anyways, I really love the contrast between the innocent and peaceful room and the dark "Loop". The aesthetic for both was great, especially when shifting between the two; the difference became stark.
A Pug In Time by Papasucre 2020-10-10T21:49:44Z
I love pugs! And this game! The graphics were really well polished; lots of cool vfx, e.g. the shaders for the ghosts (how?). And I'm impressed that given the complex mechanics, you were able to implement them within a short period of time. Really cool.
Wake Me Up by daracodes 2020-10-10T21:03:41Z
I like the concept and art, but I think I got stuck on "Morning Sunshine"? I clicked when the time passed a certain point then the "Morning Sunshine" appeared and that was it. This has potential; good luck if you flesh this out!
Anything For You by Emily Pitcher 2020-10-08T20:12:24Z
the art is SO CUTE. I think the story and the way you framed this story (MC reliving the past) is the strongest part of this! curious about what dialogue engine you're using! e.g. Fungus, Yarn Spinner, ink?
Likes: - Vulnerable, personal look into MC's life. She felt like such a real person and the story felt so personal that I felt like the MC! Or a close friend of hers! <3 - The three dimensionality of the characters. The grandpa wasn't just an evil guy. He shared some good memories with MC. - The looping aspect as a way of reliving memories - Certain items trigger memories - The art!!!!!!!!!!!
Wishes: - Music and sound slider don't feel linear in changing volume; to get the linear feel use log + see this https://gamedevbeginner.com/the-right-way-to-make-a-volume-slider-in-unity-using-logarithmic-conversion/ - Maybe the ui / visuals could do more to suit the mood? e.g. when grandpa and I are arguing, maybe the font size could be bigger, there could be camera shakes, the sprites could change to show increasing anger, tense pauses, etc. Although this is hard given the constraints :) - Maybe some similar dialogue options that felt like they led to the same path could be a little more different? E.g. 'baby breath?' vs 'that must smell bad'; 'a parrot' vs 'a fox' - Wish that if we already saw the dialogue for an item when cleaning it up, show different dialogue
The wishes are just my onion so if yall disagree that's fine! Given the constraints this is super cute, touching, and full of content. I hope this becomes something more! And I hope I can play The Space Between one day :)
[while'd] by Celuloide 2020-10-09T16:44:53Z
Nice entry; I first of all love the concept and art. The concept (pass level by escaping the while loop conditions) is so simple but so fun! I'm a sucker for 'programming' games so... Wow. The art was simple but fantastic- color scheme was warm and on point, animations were smooth and polished. I love the little kaoemoji face on the enemies. Some bugs? At one point, I could stand on the leftmost end of the collider even though my character was visibly not on the collider image. Maybe decrease the width of the colliders? Also, jumping from platform to platform on the while[alive] levels were kind of tedious because I had to try multiple times before I could land. It could also be my platforming incompetence..
Overall, fantastic and innovative entry :) Rooting for you!
In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-10T19:07:20Z
This was so good yet so minimalistic. Like.. how did you even come up with this concept? And then figure out the physics to do this? Another LD47 game that I'll be adding to my favorites, I think.
Tickets, Please! by Tvorojok 2020-10-12T16:42:01Z
I really want to play this but I can't seem to play the webGL version for some reason (I have a Mac so can't play the Windows)? I run the game, press the play button, then nothing happens. The graphics in the screenshots look very intriguing.
Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-10T22:35:15Z
I too thought it was just avoiding birds while falling as a piece of poo :) Turns out it's much more. I like the concept quite a bit and felt you executed it well. I think if it was a bit faster/harder that'd be more fun for me personally; while waiting for the hummingbird to rise / waiting for the seed to fall, sometimes I'd feel my attention drifting.. Overall, great game, and great idea. Hope you do more with it :)
Bullet Space by tanatb 2020-10-08T19:41:03Z
hey Tanat :) this was legit addicting, I love the concept of dashing through the circle to strategize on how to kill the bad guys. The items and their descriptions were so funny, loved 'no u'!! And you did a great job on the retro arcade aesthetic - the color scheme and post processing really brought it together.
Some wishes I had: - Wish I knew what level I reached - Wish I could regain health somehow without increasing max health; max health increasing doesn't seem to matter without that ability - Wish I knew where I would end up when dashing, seems like it's a mix of angle and position? I would like that to be more clear
this was actually really fun, I reached level 10, this'd make such a fun mobile game or something! I hope you continue working on this (if you want to)!
LD49 — Unstable
Perhaps a Friend? by Local Minimum 2021-10-11T20:34:01Z
Oh my, well this was certainly fun in a really uncanny sort of way. Definitely high marks on theme and innovation haha. I love the ability to build my own robot thing? And the dialogue was super funny.
I agree with some of the above though that the moving camera eventually made it too unpleasant for me to want to continue - it definitely upped the difficulty (good!) but made me nauseous as well.
Keep making incredibly weird stuff, the world needs more of it!
Lizzie's Lucky Potion Shop by celia14 2021-10-12T00:11:16Z
It was so cute! I love the idea of being a lil witch making potions. It reminds me of the Steam game, Potion Craft. Love it. I think it'd be so nice to play for a long time if it had music.
SEXY BOOBY 95 by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-10-12T20:19:33Z
Maybe it's because I'm immature but I found this hilarious :) Great job, I loved it!
Cannot Wake Up by xUMR 2021-10-11T22:48:47Z
very interesting concept and I definitely felt sleepy yet scared (?) while playing it so I think you emulated the having-a-bad-dream feeling well. The circus and phone noises are super effective in adding creepiness and distraction.
@local-minimum oh boy, I fixed (most?) of the bugs on the itch.io version https://zephyo.itch.io/come-alive if you're still curious about the story :) LOL SO MUCH ART I died
Of course there's more! There's so much more :) Thanks so much for trying it out!
hey @simonl :) did you try the itchio version?
The Blue Bedroom by SplitPainter 2021-10-11T23:06:34Z
that was really good :) I love reading about Van Gogh or other famous painters, and Van Gogh's story especially is very unique considering how he lived his life without fame to the very end. It's so refreshing to see a historical entry amidst many fictional ones in LD! it felt like an interactive art exhibit. the scare at the end with the blurred face was very powerful. thanks for teaching me a bit about history while also showing me so many of Gogh's beautiful works.
Hunger Of The Elder Slime by JohnLee Cooper 2021-10-12T17:13:42Z
This is amazing <3 I think it's gotta be one of my favorite entries. I'm a sucker for cute, relaxing games and this just matches that to a T. The pixel art is so cute. This was definitely one of the entries I spent the most time on because it's sooooo addicting and relaxing HAHA. Love the boba bear!!! :))
The only bug I found was that I couldn't click sugar cubes if they were under certain structures (I forgot which ones).
I think this would do numbers on mobile. Congrats on such a cute game!!
LCD DREAM ESCALATOR by Hydezeke 2021-10-12T17:33:52Z
This was just incredible, the music was awesome, the color schemes were great, I felt like I was transported to ten years ago when silent exploration games were a thing; I also love how the controls are taught to you in the beginning, how their UI won't disappear until you've done the specific input. Also the "Lucid Dare" pamphlet thing is such a nice aesthetic touch and guide. I miss LSD Dream Emulator now, maybe I should boot it up haha. Great job!! :)
A Long Way Home by Alexascher 2021-10-12T20:39:51Z
Really fun! Reminded me of Sea of Thieves. I like Victor, he's funny. Overall a very relaxing bug-free game. Btw, I think the rules state if you didn't make the audio within the 3 days you omit Audio from your rankings.
Timmy's Very Bad School Day by Miyolophone 2021-10-11T21:02:49Z
lmao the music and THE DIALOGUE
The fact that like EDM chillstep (?) is playing in the background is soooo funny to me - I mean, it's good EDM, don't get me wrong, I've just never seen a JRPG with EDM before. And the battle music - it's super good, period. And the final song with the school bell and the guitar is sooooo lit.
the insult minigame is genuinely so fun, and at the perfect difficulty level. it's kind of like a mix of.... guitar hero and danganronpa class trials? Actually, I have no idea how to describe it - it felt pretty original, which I love!
i feel like y'all must've built off some engine or existing code because there's a lot of JRPG features (tool tips, dialogue system, battle system, health system, good player and camera movement) in addition to a ton of content, so much so that i can't imagine y'all could've coded all that in 3 days - it's really awesome! it legit feels like an RPG vs a jam game because f that.
the writing is SO FUNNY. the low effort grammar makes things x1000 funnier. "Image Not Found" has been found - I don't even know what to say ๐Ÿ’€ the fact that you can regain health by eating from the trash ๐Ÿ’€ i can't imagine what the dev process for the story must've been - y'all must've been laughing your asses off making it.
some critique:
it'd be nice to be able to select buttons like Insult / Cry via keyboard since every other control is through keyboard too
it'd also be cool to have a tutorial for how the battle mechanics like insulting work - i failed the first time when insulting the teacher because I didn't know what to do - definitely out of scope for a game jam, but maybe for the future!
the dialogue boops when students talk feels like it's scraping my ears which makes for an unpleasant experience
at one point a possible insult is "you're more out of place than gteve" - I got confused what that meant because I hadn't talked to Gteve yet - maybe that should only be shown if you've talked to Gteve.
anyways this is SUCH a great entry. This is just such a trollish game and I love it. If you continue it I'm sure it'll get more plays than zero three weeks from now ๐Ÿ’€ I'd def it again!
Emily vs the Unstable Creatures by JPatchZ 2021-10-12T00:22:42Z
very cute! <3 loved the music and art.
Everything is Fine by Noire 2021-10-11T23:52:17Z
Woah, the audio was incredibly crisp. It set a whole new bar for audio in game jam games. I'm curious about the mic and audio editor you guys used. Very powerful stuff too, story and visuals wise. Thank you for sharing!
Crazy Cauldron by Quite Good 2021-10-12T22:19:33Z
This was really cute, I loved the art and the little "yes" "no" sounds :) I wished there was a more interactive tutorial than info-dumping all the controls because I was confused my first playthrough - however, after the second, I got the hang of it and it's genuinely super fun :) The characters are quirky and color-matching had me feeling like some interior designer examining Pantones. All in all good work!!
emoceans by ty_ 2021-10-11T20:21:23Z
This was so super cute and simple, ty! i loved it!! and the title is sooooo good haha. smhing at myself for not having had the idea too, it's such a refreshing new addition to the silly physics games genre :) it was bug free, cute, short, I mean, I don't think you could've made a better jam game ToT congrats and hope to see more from you in the future~
Dear Ghost by Lancival 2021-10-11T20:12:14Z
the sound design was so cute: i love the ghostly sounds when pressing buttons and the dialogue boops and the raccoon noise when you pass the raccoon the music is so precious too!
the art is really good, the character sprites are very cute!
here's some critique:
i think the fade transition that happens, i.e when pressing settings or clicking through the letter, could go faster, because it felt kind of soporific
it seems like the text speed setting doesn't do anything unless you put it all the way to the right, in which case it shows all the text immediately; I would've preferred to be able to set the text speed faster but not all presented upon being shown the next dialogue
sometimes i felt a bit lost in the dialogue; like when the husband says "if you can show me proof" - what proof? and something about "I see you have that photo of my wife and our kids" - i was like, i do? i don't see anything like that in my inventory? and then when he was like "how did you find this?" and you're like "she wanted me to show you this" or something like that, I was like, what item are they talking about? lol.
some strange phrasings I noticed: "I'm here because I noticed something missing from your relationship with your mother" (I think if someone said that to me I'd be pretty offended and not want to continue talking lol) and "I saw your her ghost"
some confusions:
there's a strange sorting bug: when my character is all the way down at the bottom of the map, the husband and the son are on the wrong sorting layer (i.e. the husband seems to be under the tent)
also i wasn't able to get to the end because the white-haired daughter needed another item (which I couldn't figure out what since the dialogue is clipped in half) even though I'm like 99.5% sure I'd gotten all the items?
I didn't notice the "You can get duplicate items by exiting and re-entering the house" bug - maybe that got fixed?
in conclusion i wish that the characters were more specific when referring to items, so i knew what item each character wanted from me before i left the conversation; i left each conversation getting a good vibe check from them regarding how they felt about the ghost (i.e. mom was cold and caring, i sacrificed a lot for my wife's dreams) which made them feel 3d, but i couldn't remember which item they wanted, which resulted in feeling like i didn't have a clear goal throughout the game, just to pick up as many orange outlined items as possible.
i think this was super good for being made in 3 days, i love the creepy/cute vibes it gives off and it was actually pretty relaxing and enjoyable to play despite it being about exorcism! and I always love a good family drama, so thank you for the tea ๐Ÿต if you ever make another version of this i'd love to play and see the end!
Oh, Hello? by itsBoats 2021-10-11T22:23:47Z
pretty funny lmao, nice original concept
Radish Kid Ascension by CozyGamePals 2021-10-11T22:05:42Z
This is an incredibly solid entry! I love the little radish character and the game mechanic :) It's amazingly bug free and feels super polished. Congrats on your first entry being so solid. Really glad you added WASD in addition to middle click for panning btw since I can't middle click on my trackpad :)
I also think I encountered a bug? [https://imgur.com/a/fOcCvms](https://imgur.com/a/fOcCvms) even though the earthquake line was above my structure, it stayed intact? Also my radish pal wasn't able to ascend even though there's a clear path up.
Nonetheless congrats, you two should be proud!
The Swirl by cybuuorg 2021-10-11T22:42:15Z
Oooh, I just love the art, so avant garde. Ugh, it's so inspiring. I might just have to include more textures in my art too now.
The writing is so noir, I can literally hear the swoon of detectives in old b&w movies in the writing <3
And the music is soooo good, especially when Swirl comes on?!
One thing I wished for was an inventory so I could see all the items I'd found. I also wished that certain options like Examine drawer were not shown if they didn't have anything new to say (i.e. id clicked them before, then when I click them again, they show the same dialogue)
Anyways, you really nailed this one, esp on art/audio/story! Good job :)
Where's My Tripod? by Pixelydian 2021-10-11T22:28:10Z
This was a really nice game. I love the description - it's true, this jam is full of horror games, this was a great break from those :) So relaxing. I love the addition of coughs and hiccups - gave me just enough anxiety so that it wasn't a complete snooze fest. I love that I get to see my rating at the end - I'm a Hobbyist, that checks out! :)
the cards we're dealt by rainedoe 2021-10-12T00:28:59Z
doesnt work on mac because I think you need to notarize it? idk :/ it also doesn't work on my chrome or firefox, but it looks really beautiful!
LD51 — Every 10 seconds
Game Name by Strega 2022-10-08T00:19:18Z
who's voice is doing the 'perfect' 'great' xD I love it... that's what a healthily scheduled game jam experience looks like! "Hope the site doesn't go down" <- 50% of my jams be like
10 Second Mixtape by Scott Steffes 2022-10-08T05:44:58Z
this was so cool! everything was so cool, i spent half my playthrough rating other people's jams on the start screen..... i can't imagine the wizardry behind that networking code, and to be done in 3 days... :0
Citri Plays Noirwood by AploveStudio 2022-10-08T05:42:45Z
LD52 — Harvest
It was all for the Tuna by rosypenguin 2023-01-19T22:35:12Z
really cute game and a solid sense of progression, didn't feel too slow or fast
instructions very clear
love absolutely murdering these fish colonies haha jk.... T_T
and how did you accomplish that beautiful water???
some feedback: - loved the classical music but it did begin to sound repetitive, especially as a backdrop to a somewhat repetitive mechanic - on the faster boat upgrades, movement seemed laggy (boat moved behind frames, as if using Update instead of FixedUpdate or something)
love what you guys do as always!
A Day in the Life of Death by DDRKirbyISQ 2023-01-19T23:29:22Z
I love a DDRKirby and Xellaya entry. Great music + art as always and this one was really funny... Bai and Hei are sooooo relatable and funny. I feel so bad for these corporate slaves whose souls are flying away. The ending was so cute and made it one of my favorite entries all time T_T
Greenfinger! by TomasPraestholm 2023-01-19T22:58:20Z
this is really cute, as expected coming from this team!
pretty tough difficulty curve, the best strat at first for me was to slam all 4 keys on each note since I don't get punished for wrong notes :P even with this ultimate strat it's surprisingly difficult so I ended up just giting gud and using AS and up/right arrow keys. really fun with a mechanical keyboard. I love rhythm games and whoever did these maps knows their stuff! congrats on a solid first entry.
LD53 — Delivery
Rude Bear Rebirth by alexrose 2023-05-07T04:42:40Z
Super funny, nice use of repeating patterns, and when that twinkle twinkle mix hit... oh my god that was hilarious. Nice music Atmos! I appreciated the additional checkpoints if you fail too many times because my playthrough was littered with abandoned bears. I now feel an even deeper rage at the cry of a baby.
Mad Meow: Purriosa's Panic by Strega 2023-05-07T04:46:48Z
Tuna cat makes a comeback <3 One note, the audio was very low even with audio setting sliders at max... Nice bullet hell, impressed at the amount of levels that made it in!
The Pigeon Post Principle by cassowary 2023-05-06T19:26:24Z
Purrfect Delivery by Mashiro 2023-05-08T04:01:16Z
@pacodev omg im sorry my comment was so short then :skull: I was like this team came out of the blue with a bomb creation. This game has literally everything - cats, memes, gays, and a fake OS. Pls keep doing what yall are doing and making ppl laugh!
lycoris;lastwords by robobarbie 2023-05-07T03:28:21Z
this feels so polished and the music and art is gorg! And the little animations are such a nice touch. I love that the spider lily at the bottom is the settings toggle. Kind of reminded me of the sections in Spiritfarer where you say goodbye on the boat on a surface level but here I felt like I got to know my passengers way deeper despite just being a jam game. That last person.. I've never played a souls-like visual novel but now I can say I have. Really cool idea. What happens next in the story, I need to know???
Rain On Their Parade! by TomasPraestholm 2023-05-07T03:43:22Z
of course I love the art and the music is so delightful and soothing!!! you guys never fail to make the most chill cute games. The levels and characters were sooo funny, my personal favorite was the crush :D I see the reference to Greenfingers :)
LD54 — Limited Space
STOP BURYING ME ALIVE, BEAUTIFUL! by robobarbie 2023-10-09T16:18:43Z
@killerb thanks for the lengthy comment! a lot of the things you mentioned like operable card game are in the โ€œLatestโ€ (not โ€œGame Jamโ€) version. I think youโ€™re the first to intepret the story like that so ๐Ÿ…I liked your interpretation a lot!
LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres
[Web] Stealth Dance! by Linver 2018-05-08T19:17:24Z
Fun game!! I wasn't quite clear on the directions. Am I supposed to click in time to the music? I liked how it changed depending on if you were in someone else's "floor". Really love the concept and the art, great job.
Wordelicious by ludipe 2018-04-24T09:08:30Z
Great idea! Is it a combo of a typing game and restaurant/job games? I love how it has so much personality (e.g. a unique UI and deep, grim writing - gah, flashbacks to some not so great jobs.. D:) - I think that in itself, a restaurant/job game with a grim personality, combines 2 incompatible genres because I've never seen one of those games without bubbly colorful graphics and a shallow backstory. As others have said, pressing the left arrow was unintuitive at first. I also think it'd be more intuitive to 'submit' words with enter. It's understandable that you couldn't get it working, though, since you were fighting against the browser. Amazing job for only 9 hours.
FetchQuest Rally by nuclearfriend 2018-04-24T09:16:31Z
Wow, HILARIOUS writing - I'm living for the interactions between the driver and gnome - and whoever did the voice acting, major kudos! Sounds super professional and really contributed to the humor :P I laughed out loud several times and I've yet to do that from a LD game.
GattaZoid by simonhutchinson 2018-05-01T19:53:10Z
excellent audio as usual! I love how I can always compose my own pieces with your works. It did get a bit monotonous; maybe a steeper difficulty curve or something to distract from the repetition would help with that.
great work, always looking forward to your stuff :)
Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-05-01T20:27:30Z
Probably the most fun entry I've played yet :D Typing and shooting games are two of my favorite genres. Combined? HmmmMM sign me UP. This was super funny and the music does a lot for it. Also, the directions/mechanics were pretty intuitive despite neither genres being compatible which made it even better! This is a brilliant thing and I fully support Mr and Mrs Chair's lovely marriage!
Blitztris by ThatFrankGuy 2018-05-01T20:17:47Z
Yay a Mac version! I love all the personality in this - from this being a DOPE on itchio, to the whole retro Nintendo jammin vibe I'm getting - it's super cool. I love all the polish and small details too; the animations of the buttons, the particles in the background, the trail effects. 10/10 am using the pepe console, you know it. If you ever do something similar but more finalized, I'd recommend a How to play section or something like that because I had to experiment with the controls before realizing it was WASD to move and mouse to rotate. Anyways, really fun to play; hope I see yall make more awesome stuff!
YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-24T10:12:20Z
Thanks all; I'm so glad you all seemed to like it. @rayne @caspila I think I fixed the fridge bug! It happened when you clicked 'Nevermind' right? @mao yay goosebumps! I'd be interested in knowing more about those bugs D: @beren5000 you're sweet :) I'd love to hear more about those little bugs. @time-loop hm I can't encounter any of those bugs, but I think I fixed the clock one; mind telling me where you were in the game when it occurred? edit: found, fixing rn
YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-24T11:09:39Z
@time-loop omg! Thank you so much for all the detail. You're the playtester every game dev would want to have. I fixed the clock, fridge, and roof things. I think I fixed the choice menu bug where it shows at the wrong time bc I was listening for clicks when I shouldn't have.
YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-25T01:15:11Z
Thanks for the amazing comments, everyone; they're all really heart-warming :)
@time-loop Lol no wonder you were so good playtesting. Followed! I'd love to reach out to you sometime in the future, thanks for offering your help.
@fashionbatman Thanks :)) Haha the cat's my favorite too!
@memel06 Omg thank you :D I'm glad you liked the terrible jokes. AHH all those applications, I can relate. Nice desktop image, where did you get it? ;)
@xephrys thanks! I'll keep that in mind; I might make it funnier, maybe when I'm more awake
@dj-depressive thank you!! The music isn't mine (didn't have time); it's Creative Commons and credits are given in "About" on the title screen. Hope that helps.
@mao Thank you! Did she look at the fridge then go to the ending? I just made it so that you can't finish only thru the fridge. Thought I fixed the weird technical bugs - mind telling me where exactly they occurred?
@david-boeger Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Ahh hm the only way you can get to the ending that quick is through the fridge, so I updated it so that you have to do more than just look at the fridge.
@crabman Thanks so much for playing another one of my games! I have yours bookmarked to play, it looks quite spoopy :P Yeah, I got tired and didn't have the energy to put things in the train, but the other rooms have stuff; I might add more. I'll be sure to have a blur effect during the fridge in future releases - thanks, I didn't think of that.
Check, Please! by swav_gav 2018-05-01T18:53:48Z
Great concept! I loved the absolutely fitting, comedic yet classy music. The visual effects were pro level (love the bloom and colors!) Lots of great small details (changing facial expressions, trash friend discount -r/meirl). The cons: Framerate felt low (like 10 or 5 per sec)/laggy on both my Macbook and iMac, felt hard to play with a trackpad, and I had difficulty with rotating in the direction I wanted to rotate in. Ultimately I never could pick up the match and just played around picking up the larger objects, watching my date get more infuriated. Loved it nonetheless though!
Stealth Trucking by Crabman 2018-05-01T20:04:35Z
Amazing and atmospheric audio as usual! I could listen to your music forever. I also loved the subtle humming and crunching sound effects of the car driving. I did think it could've been a bit easier, or at least have a faster way of getting past places you've passed before (maybe a speed up button?) One bug - I got inside the rock once because I leaned too close to it lmao. Overall I really loved it and would totally constantly play a multiplayer version!!! :D
Manic Tower by Ashtrail 2018-05-01T20:38:47Z
Nice game, I'm digging the character designs and the art in general. It's pretty hard haha. I love the slomo when you lose, I haven't seen that much in games but it really adds polish. PS about your question on what I used for timelapses - Quicktime!
Shadowscape by Gonz0 2018-05-01T20:07:43Z
This is so cool!!! Amazing audio and visuals; really curious as to how you coded the animations. I'm not clear on how I'm supposed to "win", I'm supposed to make all the shadows black but I'm not sure what the shadows are? Anyways, very meditative, 10/10 would meditate to.
Heartache by Oivin F 2018-05-01T20:34:20Z
Omg it's so cute, the cat's little smile makes me soft bless. I love the polish on this; the small animations and the sound effects for jumping and shooting. One very small thing - it'd be great to press esc and have it pause/show the directions cause sometimes I forgot what to do and wanted to check without getting my heart hurt. Overall I had a really cute and soft experience, that_cat_is_my_aesthetic.jpg
ASM Hell by vilix64 2018-05-13T01:21:09Z
Oh goodness assembly flashbacks D: I really love 'coding' and typing games personally, and felt like you really did those games good with ASM Hell! The aesthetic was cohesive with an old computer look and the way it was designed didn't bore me despite assembly being my least liked language. Good job!!
Feed Me by Pyrodaes 2018-05-01T19:06:36Z
I really loves this. Amazing concept. It's the first time I've felt so spooped from an LD game.
Fantastic polish - it has an app icon, lots of smooth small animations (the little hair bounces when the kid walks! the breathing of the weird.. monster..creature thing!)
I tried to never feed it but I feel like that didn't make a difference; the thing didn't die off :(
Audio: When it got silent and made the "FEED ME" sounds, that was so creepy, great job. Amazing sound effects and music as the game progressed - the lights flickering, the ambient noises; those were really scary.
Oh god.. still shook. It's hilarious in a very sad kind of way - you kinda know this kid's future ain't bright; he gon get eaten.
Mojojo by ZakAmana 2018-05-13T01:12:40Z
the polish on this is INSANEE oh my gosh. Mood, camera shake when sensei is hit, im in AWEeeeee. I'm a huge sucker for unique art/aesthetics in games and the combo of vfx, bouncy easing, 2d and 3d in here is so appealing!!! And the humor is so adorable 'bowling chan is upset' nooo shhh bowling chan, it'll be ok :'( One thing I'd look into is optimization/performance; it heat up my new Macbook like no other. Great job!!
