LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Aquarial by AidanMarkham 2021-04-29T03:42:08Z

This game was so good, and I can't believe you made it all in a weekend! I loved the art-style and the atmosphere and the fun little dialogue between the fishies. The camera work and the stats at the end made this feel super polished I just kept asking for more and more! Can't wait for the full cinematic Aquarial universe :)

Diggy the Dig by Yngvarr 2021-05-04T17:47:55Z

I really liked the concept of using the bone as a way to give you a double jump, I think with a little bit more tinkering it could feel very intuitive (like in Mario Odyssey how you throw Cappy out and he gives you a nice vertical boost when you hit Cappy). I think most mouse and keyboard games would use left mouse click or left-shift rather than k for a throw-type action.

Teh Man and the Sea by Plepletier 2021-05-04T06:41:57Z

I really enjoyed what the game had to offer! There was a surprising amount of content to the game, but I felt that it was a little bit difficult and grind-y at the start (having to go to the shop to progress the day didn't help). Having some sort of slow-down or vignette post processing when the oxygen timer gets low could help warn the player ahead of time while adding to the flight-or-fight response. I thought the art was pretty good, but figuring out lighting could possibly help make the overall aesthetic feel more polished.

Love's a Mystery by Bamallama 2021-04-29T04:49:56Z

Oh my god I'm so hooked! I really just wanna know what's up with Elise!!! I also somehow managed to get Maxwell dead, was hoping for some secret good ending somewhere

Deep Down 2 by Nyunesu 2021-04-29T20:41:09Z

Loved the game so much! It's a really simple concept but executed really well! I really appreciate the level design and how it teaches the different mechanics you introduced. I also thought the slime crouch-walking animation was really cute!

I would love to see more movement tech options so I could go real fast (brain likes going brrr). Although the level does a good job of introducing each mechanic and explaining what it does, I felt that the form and function wasn't obvious from the "look" of the mechanic. I thought the big slime power-up was fun, unexpected, yet thematic, but I thought the rock & glass interaction wasn't really obvious on first glance.

The Drill-Train by Tryus30 2021-05-02T22:35:44Z

I enjoyed the game quite a bit! Love the concept but I felt that the game had a lot of down-time. In comparison to tower defense games, most of the down-time is spent planning tower placements and figuring out the bottlenecks and pain points. Maybe if there was more strategy in moving straight, up, or down or adding different train cars could help spice things up.

Shrink and Destroy by Tomssuli 2021-05-02T22:54:43Z

I think the game was a little bit on the difficult side. I really wish there were more defensive/movement options to help deal with enemy bullets.

Clown Pup by skill347 2021-05-04T06:31:57Z

stuck.PNG I love the art and the environmental storytelling, but I couldn't really make it far into the game. I got here and couldn't move back to the left. I felt like the whole time I was just clicking everywhere and pressing 'E'. It might help it a little to have something highlight when it's interactable just so that it's a little bit more clear.

Tall Tales by Octopoid 2021-05-04T07:04:19Z

I really enjoyed the humor in the game and the ridiculous reactions I got from everyone. You did so much in such little time, it was really impressive. I think having some amount of post processing or adjusting the default lighting a little would've helped polished the look quite a bit. The music got a little bit repetitive as I went around town, but I really appreciated that there was a volume slider in the game.

Haphephobia by Gabriel Corbani 2021-05-02T23:05:37Z

I thought it was a little weird that the characters' hair don't use a transparent or cut-out material (so the transparent part is actually transparent, not black). I think having shadows underneath the character will help make depth perception easier, especially since the camera is static. I also felt that the energy regeneration is dreadfully slow, spent a lot of time just standing still waiting for my energy to recharge.

Get Down by GroundDoon 2021-05-04T07:11:15Z

It reminded me of different mobile games I used to be obsessed with back when smartphones started getting popular. I think having some kind of powerup or tighter difficulty curve would help with the retention for this game.

@spyturtle there's actually two more secret messages at a higher score, but yeah didn't really have the time to tie the game back into the story a little more

@m1nd0frafa thanks for your detailed feedback! really appreciated it  I'd love to have a lot more apps to encourage more exploration... maybe for a post-jam version :)

Chippy Picker by Javid Ladhani 2021-05-04T17:41:52Z

Did not expect the depth that this game went through, there were so many turns I didn't expect the game to go through. It took me a little bit of time to click through everything at the end to figure out what to do. It might help tie everything together in a surreal way if things were crazy in a narrative sense not just in the environmental design (much like the dialogue you encounter in frog fractions).

That Sinking Feeling by MorePixels 2021-05-04T17:54:02Z

I really liked the mood and the graphics in the game, but it was really hard to understand what was going on. I figured it was kind of like doing tasks as a crewmate in Among Us, but it was hard to tell if you've done the tasks successfully. I got the green switches and one red one as my first task and I was woefully confused with it. I thought that the camera was a little restrictive, I would've liked to see a little bit more beneath the player, especially since you have a lot of verticality in the game. I also found myself stuck from the ladders pretty often -- in future jams it might make more sense to just make teleporters if ladders are giving you a hard time.

I had to read the instructions to figure out what to do at the start. Thought the game was very interesting and that the concept was pretty novel. The rhythm aspect reminds me of Rhythm Heaven, because they tend to have pretty wacky minigames. Would be cool to see how the game feels with polyrhythms and what not
