I spent a bit trying to figure out the game, but it was really unclear what I was supposed to be doing. I loved the visuals and the mood though!

I spent a bit trying to figure out the game, but it was really unclear what I was supposed to be doing. I loved the visuals and the mood though!
Now that's some scary stuff! well made game, the music fit really well with it's simplicity, and that face is terrifying! :O
@firebelley Yeah, I tried to hint towards what you have to do without giving much away, but I agree I probably could have done a lot better. Thanks though! ^^
@thecreator Thanks! I actually wasn't too fond of how the music turned out, so it's nice to know it's not as bad as I thought! ^^
Loved the art and atmosphere of the game, felt kinda lost through it, but i did like that, only thing that bothered me a bit was the slow text, but maybe that was on purpose to make actions take some time? Keep the good work!
I am sorry I was unable to run it on Mac :( It said "The application Mac Build.app can't be opened"
@shosanna Agh, really? Well, thanks for telling me! I had no idea whether it would work or not, so now I know I guess. ^^;
Please, give me an hint to advance in the game :smile:
Well made game, I liked the music! atmospheric!
I echo the above comments: charming, great atmosphere, annoyingly slow text, and I never figured out how to beat it. I have a feeling that I was supposed to use that box for something but I softlocked myself by putting it into a corner.
@greon Thanks! I actually didn't have the text intentionally slow originally, but I did end up noticing it and felt like it just worked for that exact reason. You could call it a lazy excuse not to deal with it xD
@Wakobu There are three steps - for one of them, keep an eye on the bullet-hell part. Anything different each time? Think about what you might have done in the regular room that might have caused it. For the other steps, I suggest thinking outside the box, maybe even try whatever strange thing that comes to mind - it might actually do something. Thanks for taking an interest! ^^
@rokevicius Thanks! ^^
@tree3 Thanks! ^^ And yeah, that box is tricky. ^^; You're right though - it does have a use. I gave a hint a moment ago if that helps. ^^;
I love the concept! very funny mechanics.
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Wow it has really spooky atmosphere, but i had some misunderstanding what to do, so it was kinda hard to play
Nice entry! Text is way to slow, but overall the game is nice!
I unfortunately couldn't finish the game. I got to the point where I got the key, read two books, broke the window and opened the door, but after than that, I spent 4 or 5 loops without finding anythign else. I got the crate stuck in a corner near the window in the very beginning of the game. Perhaps that's what got me stuck ?
Anyway, here's what I think :
The good :
I really like the mood and graphics. Programming was solid enough for me not to find any issues with the game mechanics.
The bad :
The text should really be skippable. I didn't like the music at all. To be honest, it was really grating on my nerves.
Overall still, it's a solid entry, perhaps some design flaw since I wasn't able to finish it, but still solid and enjoyable. Congratulations on making it to the LD47 !
@bobparis75 Thanks!
@etrealjunior Thanks! And I played your game - it's really good! Great job!
@adil Thanks! And yeah, I was hoping it would kind of explain itself with the slight bit of hinting I gave. Basically you are trying to figure out how to get out of The Loop, and to do this you've got to basically use your head. It's kind of a puzzle game where you have to observe what you see, as well as try out your own inklings. If you've ever played the game Hello Neighbor, I kind of took inspiration from that.
@zaibakk Thanks! ^^ And yeah, I've gotten that before. I definitely agree I could made the text a bit faster. ^^;
@fluffy-kaeloky Thanks a lot for the feedback! And yeeaaah I wasn't fond of my music either, that area of game development has definitely never been my strong point ^^; I thought about leaving it out but I just felt like "what the heck." xD Also, yup, the box got you stuck. I should have allowed some way to pull it out of spots it gets stuck in. ^^;
Unfortunately I was unable to beat the game, but the concept was good and had a good execution overall.
great game with amazing visuals the pixel art is so enjoyable to watch well execution
I love the concept, really good link to the theme. It have a particular mood with this music looping over and over again. Great job !
The concept was right down my alley! Loved the haunting atmosphere and the circumstances the girl was trapped. The art was fitting and well done for a single person project. The music not so much. But kudos for at least trying and adding a piece of original score in the game. The controls were a little too floaty for my taste and the text boxes were soooooooo slooooooow. Interacting with one item almost took away the complete timer... That was really frustrating having to do the dodge dance after trying out something in the other room. It wouldn't hurt to give the player a little more time or at least increasing the dialog speed.
I wasn't really able to finish the game since I wasn't sure what to do with the key from the bird. The demon door still didn't open and the other door just had a wall behind it. Every other piece of interactive qualities didn't progress anything. So I guess I have missed something. Since having to deal with the demon world after a couple of seconds, I wasn't so much motivated to find the solution, since it felt like my time was wasted. That's something you could work on!
Other than that, a really interesting entry. I hope to see more of those experimental type games :)
Nice game!
I got as far as some other people here. Got the key from the bird and did a number of other things but couldn't figure out how to finish it. Unfortunately the deaths are so devastating I could only try this a few more times.
As for the game itself, I really liked the concept. It's like Freddy Krueger except you're in a locked room with 2 different dimensions. A very cool concept.
I know this is a pretty unrelated game but it kinda reminds me of Phoenix Wright where you have an investigation scene, and then a different minigame later on. In this case, instead of a court scene, you get a little bullet hell sequence.
A decent amount of work for a solo endeavor. I think there's a lot of good comments here on what you could do with some more dev time. Overall it has a nice, creepy vibe and a sense of despair as you're stuck in the loop.
Hi, I couldn't open it in Mac as well; I got the same error as shosanna. I did the following from the Terminal:
``` chmod -R +x Mac\ Build\ 2.app ```
And it worked!
I liked the mood and graphics as everyone said; and as many have mentioned, I thought the text was too slow and would've liked an option to skip the typewriting effect and just see it all, especially feeling the time pressure. It's like.. Come on, lady! This is not the time! Anyways, I really love the contrast between the innocent and peaceful room and the dark "Loop". The aesthetic for both was great, especially when shifting between the two; the difference became stark.
I like the atmosphere of the game! Very spooky and the demon was hella scary. Had to restart the whole build couple of times since the starting text boxes didn't show up and sometimes the text boxes got stuck on the screen.
Other than that I really enjoyed playing the game. Keep it up!
I enjoyed playing the game even tho i could'nt finish it. It's really hard and the time is short... But the graphics and the music are AMAZING : ) Very well done!
I can't finish the game. As others have said: the text box needs to be skippable, or the time could stop when we interact with some object. I had some problems with the enemies on the demon room because they appear randomly and hits the player without any "warning" if that makes sense. But I really like the game atmosphere and art. I think with some tweaks this could be a great horror puzzle. Nice work!
Nice game!
Niceee
Creepy and atmospheric game, loved the art. Good job!
One thing I really liked from this game is that you don't kill anyone ! You are just there avoiding the threat ! I like this idea. If you have some time test our game, it's also a game where you don't need to kill ^^
@eoshadows I like your pixel art style do you use this technique for all your games ? Because it seems to be quiet mastered there !
But...Please stop using Esc to quit the game without menu !!! I just wanted to have a little reminder of the controls XD At some point I was stuck as well. Broke the window, got the key, the book and... oh wait I think I understand let me try again !
PS: just finished the game "THE END" super satisfying when you understand the mechanic between the real world and "The Upside Down".
Well done mate !
I did a reference to Stranger things because for me it was a bit the same feeling. Did you actually get inspired by it ?
@duke Thanks! And yeah, I get those points. I could definitely tweak that stuff a bit, especially with the time.
@peachtreeoath Thank you so much! And I actually didn't know that about the Phoenix Wright games ... I might have to check them out, it sounds a lot more interactive then I thought the series was.
@angela-he Thanks, and I'm glad you got it to work with Mac! I'm honestly rather curious what's going on to only work with that process...
@maukii Thanks! And damn, that's really weird with the text boxes getting stuck. I've got no idea what could be going on with that, but hopefully I can figure that out if I work on this more! ^^;
@rvenson @poodle-in-need Thanks very much!
@satolas Thank you so much! Funny thing is I didn't actually consider the "you don't kill anyone" idea. I was originally wanting the player to fight a bunch of enemies until mister demon guy appears and sends the player back to the room, but time constraints pressured me into downsizing to a bullet hell. But I'm glad you found the no-fight thing cool, and I definitely agree now, it feels a lot more neat than a fighting game. Also - my gosh, I'm very glad you were able to finish it! You're the first as far as I know! xD I'll definitely check out your game, it looks very good! And nope, I actually still need to watch that show xD
Finished the game with your hint! I have failed many times until I saw your hint about pressure plate! Knowing it's a pressure plate really help me. Great job for a Ludum Dare game! (BTW, are your a native English speaker? I'm not good at English, but I can understand all the words you wrote in the game, that's a nice experience for I do not need a dictionary like when playing some other Ludum Dare games lol.
The game is very atmospheric, I especially liked the mechanics!
@wxzuir Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, and that you were able to finish it! And yup, English is my native language. I'm glad everything was understandable for you! I'm usually way too wordy with my writing, so it's nice to know it wasn't that bad this time. ^^
@cherry-princess Thanks!
