LD38 — A Small World

Goodbye, world! by chromableedstudios 2020-10-06T03:03:35Z

Solid premise and physics, but the speed of the missiles could be increased a tad. My first shot stayed airborne for 10+ seconds and I thought the game had broken. I would also have preferred the yellow aim indicator thing be drawn from the active tank instead of from the planet's core.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Cthuloop by beardywombat 2020-10-06T08:42:31Z

This is actually incredibly addictive. The UI took a long time to figure out but I'm now in love with the combat system (wasp swarm is overpowered though tbh). I can't tell if it's intended or not, but there's a brief window during an enemy's turn where you can use an ability before it hits you, and it creates these great opportunities for last-second comebacks when you're backed into a corner. Overall a fantastic game.

Cursed Labyrinth by marbles 2020-10-07T06:17:22Z

Was that the... Epic Battle Fantasy game over sound? Am I going insane? Also, that was a very unusual and interesting game. I have to admit watching a depth first search repeat for minutes on end wasn't the most engaging experience, but when it turned out to actually have combat my mind was kind of blown.

Gene Cycle by joh 2020-10-07T03:58:22Z

If you got the little blobs to untangle themselves better this would be really fun. As is it quickly becomes impossible to see what's going on. The look and atmosphere were on-point though.

BOOTLOOP_RECOVERY by Tsunscreen 2020-10-06T06:49:22Z

Very solid and polished little game, but I don't understand the decision to drop the difficulty so much after completing the first task (turning on the lights). By the time I realized what I was supposed to be doing, the most intense part of the game was over. That aside it was quite enjoyable.

The Fabric of Time by MatthewPattel 2020-10-07T05:59:15Z

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this game. The look, feel and sounds are all great, but mechanically it's bewildering. Having the time when you obtain an item permanently saved in the loop sounds interesting, but in practice it lets you easily softlock yourself by obtaining a key on the 19th second or something, and I found it easiest to just beat the game in a single loop. The aim lock-on was also... upsetting. I think there's potential here but there's just too much going on at the moment.

Featherfall by armytag 2020-10-07T04:29:38Z

This reminds me of the old "Robot Want X" flash games from Kongregate and such. A cool little experience, though it could have used some jump height control.

SUPERCONDUCTOR by mnursey 2020-10-06T08:50:43Z

I have to ask, @perpetuareality, was the music not usually synced with the gameplay for you? I know that some levels adhere to the beat less than others (level 3 should be the tightest), but it was intended as a rhythm game and significant desync might indicate a bug :(

SUPERCONDUCTOR by mnursey 2020-10-07T06:58:00Z

@diptoman Input options are one of the most needed features for sure, though two buttons would still be needed for switching because you can move either outwards or inwards.

SUPERCONDUCTOR by mnursey 2020-10-08T21:13:23Z

@graebor Several of the comments we've received make me worry that there is a bug causing the game to desynchronize from the music for some players. Every jump was supposed to line up exactly with the beat, especially on level 3, so if that was not the case for you we'd appreciate confirmation.

SUPERCONDUCTOR by mnursey 2020-10-09T09:46:33Z

@graebor Thanks for the reply. Were you using the web build or the downloaded version? I believe the web version definitely has a desync bug, but the downloaded version is uncertain.

Lööp Runner by Salty Lad 2020-10-06T07:09:14Z

I wonder what kind of aliens fly to a UN-sanctioned pocket dimension to steal money from broke students...

Carman by steambrain 2020-10-07T05:39:34Z

This was a genuinely puzzling puzzle game with some cool "Aha!" moments. The theming was great and the physics were surprisingly solid, though I did tend to clip through the ceiling when picking up blocks in certain areas (I feel like I should have been awarded honourary nirvana for literally clipping out of samsara). Overall a really great entry.

Stuck in The Loop by EOShadows 2020-10-06T09:09:01Z

I echo the above comments: charming, great atmosphere, annoyingly slow text, and I never figured out how to beat it. I have a feeling that I was supposed to use that box for something but I softlocked myself by putting it into a corner.

Sisyphus Beetle Takes His Daughter to Work by pee-thief 2020-10-06T03:11:13Z

I think this game 100% achieves its intended purpose... whatever that actually is.

Third Time's the Charm by Jag 2020-10-06T06:26:57Z

I found this pretty fun once I understood the premise and had the map memorized, but there were a few things that made this game difficult to get into.

1) Enemies are too hard to see. Even in the tutorial I didn't see them at first because the models are so small and dark. A chunkier model would fix that as well as make their large hitboxes more intuitive.

2) Moving platform section was confusing. Having to turn 180 degrees so many times makes it almost impossible to complete that part without dying a few times and memorizing the pattern.

3) Exploding tile mechanic was unreliable. Sometimes a tile would detonate under my feet if I stood in the wrong place or landed oddly. It wasn't super common but it ended several runs.

GOD SAVE US!!! by Kolocop 2020-10-06T07:27:16Z

Surprisingly intense and fun once I got the hang of it, but the layering audio got unbearable with lots of archer towers and the your movement speed around the loop sometimes made it hard to aim precisely. I would have appreciated a button for temporarily slowing your movement.

I don't really know what to say, since this was obviously designed to be a bizarre nightmare. I guess good job making it a bizarre nightmare? Mario crossed with Rust with no in-air control feels exactly as cursed as it sounds.
