I wouldn't have minded being able to strafe, but aside from that it's amazing. Totally hit the mark with the PC98 feel. I didn't expect there to be multiple themed levels so that was a nice surprise!

I wasn't sure which planet I was actually trying to get to, but I had fun slingshot-ing around for sure
Pretty and polished. Looks and sounds great!
Yeah, that was pretty nerve wracking. Being able to distract the friend is pretty neat, I dig it. Aesthetics and sound are on point too!
Some more visuals to give you an idea how well you're doing would be nice, but I dig it!
As others said, It did feel like the AI was just superior in every way, but other than that was pretty cool.
Not much to say. This is great!
@lerozante 100% with you there. I'd never made this type of game before so I wasn't super sure on how to make the monster an actual threat, but with some more time I could probably figure something out. More sounds would definitely help the atmosphere
@tinykidtoo Thanks. I feel like knowing how it works ruins it a bit, but since you've already played: the monster usually sets the player's room as a destination after it's reached it's current one, but rarely will go to a random room instead, or if the player isn't in a room. It also goes to the player when the player is in front of it. It's pretty simple, but could probably be tweaked a bit to give a greater threat as mentioned above
I'll try and check out people's games later when I've got some time :)
@tolmera Also sorry about the windows only. This is the first Unity thing I've actually completed on my own, so I just left building to the very end without much thought. I'll give WebGL a quick look though.
@tolmera That was surprisingly easy. WebGL version is up now!
Yes, it is unfortunately quite easy, but thanks!
@hank-ather Oh I know, that sound is pathetic haha. I'd forgotten to remove some sounds I hadn't made on the last day so I had to quickly put SOMETHING in. That one definitely fared the worst.
@szabe You sold yourselves short, you've got a great environment/monster in yours! Although I admit it didn't feel like much of a threat, but I can't criticize there haha
Humour is spot on. Enjoyed it!
Big fan of the train, and shooting is very satisfying the more cars you get, although It felt like the difficulty increased a tiny bit quick. Still Great!
Pretty impressive for what sounds like was only a day to work on it! Let alone it being C64
Extremely polished! I feel like it might've been easier if there were less tracks/grooves on the record to switch between, but maybe I just needed to get better haha
I managed to catch one of them in the act. Pretty neat!
This is BRUTAL. It's great though. As already mentioned, could 100% see this working on mobile. The background and juicy animations go a long way for the mood.
So, uh, I'm guessing I wasn't supposed to be able to go through walls? I didn't actually notice at first until I turned too late once. Otherwise pretty chill.
Agree that some simple models or sprites would go a long way. The polish is great though, love those particle effects and sounds!
Mood and message is great. You nailed it!
I'm a sucker for neat map (tomb) generation, so that was pretty cool!
It does feel slightly like I'm just bruteforcing a code of numbers 1-5, but the visuals and sounds are quite good. Appreciate the delay between dying and trying again being short.
I think the main game here has little to do with the assets used, so I don't have any issues there. I do think it might have looked better if even just simple shapes like boxes and cylinders were used. They can go a long way despite their simplicity. I can respect just focusing on the gameplay though. Overall a cool idea. Definitely challenging enough!
Echoing some previous comments, I did find depth perception a little hard, mainly when flying through rings, and the ship a bit hard to control at first. Once I got the hang of it I was set though. I wonder if it would've been easier if the ship went around the curve of the loop automatically instead of having to be constantly turning. Might make it TOO easy though. Overall pretty fun! I liked the variety of goals, and that they change.
Took me much longer to get through the first round than any of the following, so maybe the first round should be made a bit easier? Overall though once I got some more cars it got pretty fun!
The camera jumping back upon finishing a loop was a bit odd, but that's as far as my complaints go. All around pretty great!
Pretty cool! I think it fits the theme well, and it's pretty fun! Can't say I've played a matching game like this before.
Yeah, agree about keeping more than one past attempt somehow. Would be cool. With some polish/assets, there could almost be a terminator-esque thing going on. A pretty neat idea regardless!
This is so campy I love it. Surprisingly challenging
Adore the look and feel of this game, and a compo game no less!
lol, not the kind of unstable I was going for, but good to know, thanks.
--- Oh also, want to mention I WILL play everyone's games that comments when I get the chance. Just busy atm.
Thanks for the kind words❤️
I did want to add more scary/moody elements but ran out of time. If the sampled number clips weren't obvious I definitely took some inspiration from David Lynch lol. Gonna play a bunch of others' games tonight!
Pretty novel concept. The font was a little wonky, but otherwise extremely polished presentation!
Some progression or a shop would definitely be cool, but it works surprisingly well for how simple it is. Really ramps up as time goes on.
Good take on the theme. The crumbling floor never really felt like much of a threat given how many times you were allowed to step on it, but I like the idea.
I'll play anything for my boy Hagrid. Actually kind of neat though, although the game is a bit TOO unstable in some ways. I enjoyed hopping on a platform and pulling it towards me continuously lol
Managed to make it to the end. The art rocks, and the humor is on point!
This game OOZES charm. Incredible thing to put together for a game jam. The portraits at the end were great too
A bit of guidance may have helped, but I admit I kind of liked being thrown into this knowing nothing. Pretty classic point and click experience there lol. Sounds are simple but effective and go along with the style well. I think I probably achieved the good ending?
I think some sort of map would've been great to get a sense of how far away rooms are, so that you could decide better between walking and using the goto command. Always a fan of the meta game crashing itself element though, and I did manage to win!
Killer atmosphere and mood, it all looked and sounded really good. Definitely see where you could add more to each of the item "levels" but for a jam this is solid!
Love pretty much everything about this. This is the aesthetic I'd hoped to achieve with my game but ran out of time. I'm curious if you took any inspiration from David Lynch as well. Anyways you nailed it!
Very frustrating, but in a good way lol. You guys nailed the platforming, and I dig the ongoing narrative as you progress.
I'm pretty bad at this lol, but there's a lot of charm to the game. Fits the theme to a T
Pretty simple premise, yet a rock solid execution and presentation! Tunes are sick
Nice and simple stealthy kind of game. Adding the narrative at the start definitely helps set it apart a bit. I'd be proud if this was my first published game!
Pretty simple, but that attack feels really satisfying to use. I'm not sure how well the theme came across, but the idea of gathering energy from hitting enemies is cool. Overall solid though! (if a bit easy)
The pigs expressions before getting eaten are so sad lol. Seconding the upgradable water limit, but amazing sprites/animations and mood. Perfect October game
Very juicy graphics and presentation. Unfortunately (news to me) I'm not an epic gamer, but I'll manage. Pretty solid for a first jam!
I am not sure what I have just been subjected to but I don't regret it. Enjoy the microwave <3
Pretty solid jam game, unlike the pillar of blocks I precariously stacked up lol
Solid game that fits the theme. I see I'm not the first person to be reminded of happy wheels lol
Pretty cool game, really like all the different ships and components!
Thanks for all the nice comments <3 Having some sort of indicator would definitely be good
Thanks! Yeah adding some corpses/gibs was definitely on my mind but I never got around to it. Glad people enjoyed the look/sound of the game <3
The cable physics are very satisfying, overall really polished!
Definitely could use more info in-game as others said, but I liked the look of it and all the different items were hilarious
Great mood, made it 25 or so levels I think, and the sticker book-like thing after losing was pretty neat as well!
This was really cool, and felt really polished! Levels definitely get difficult fast but I appreciate it's not just a cakewalk
Having the spikes still move when the rest of the game is paused feels cruel haha, but I love all the popups
Loved all the different fruits and their interactions!
Really solid and addicting, Some enemy variety would be cool but still sick!
Really enjoyed going through this! Was fun seeing how bad I get away with drawing lol
Pretty smooth, just found it strange that the upgrades didn't persist through enemies, guess it was just hard to balance that way?
This was really solidly put together! Managed a time of 221s
Cool game! Only wish it was a little more difficult sooner
While obviously a little unpolished in some areas, this was still pretty cool! I appreciate that you did it in just SDL2, couldn't have been easy.
Mechanics are pretty cool, definitely a challenge!
Loved the sprites, and loved the writing!
Wasn't sure what to expect initially but I actually had a lot of fun with this <3
Can't upload images for some reason but here https://i.imgur.com/EGMa6zu.png
Sounds would be cool as others have mentioned but overall pretty solid. Might be too much for a jam game, but would be awesome if there was a short break in between levels with a shop where you could upgrade things like health, weapon speed, etc.
