While a cool concept, I feel standing and waiting for 10 seconds to be able to continue a level is a bit rough.

markymark 2022-10-04 02:42

This game reminds me of how crap my memory is... I didn't realize that the tiles flash every 10 seconds so I was trying to remember the entire path in one go haha

2022-10-04 02:43

That's a lot of fun ~311 first run. I feel like this could be a good speed running game. It has some nice unexpected platforming. Thanks for the game.

t-c 2022-10-04 02:44

Nice game. Platforming was really fun, I like the idea of a fraud path.

slothzilla-games 2022-10-04 02:48

The impact when you land from a jump feels really nice. Very good little platforming engine!

dgo 2022-10-04 02:52

Haha this game really tested my memory, and I loved the wobble effect from the jumping

genericparadox 2022-10-04 02:53

Okay so I love the way you made the movement. It feels fluid, responsive and you feel the weight of the character when making contact. The idea itself is cool, but I would suggest considering tweaking the mechanic just a bit. Perhaps having the tiles shift to the other ones every 10 seconds. Maybe have the tiles present at all times, and every 10 seconds a glimmer takes place to change the active tiles. You could have a timer to allow the player to keep track of the time left in the period. As right now it does feel weird to have to stop from a movement system (camera bobbing, sounds when dropping onto platform, knowing you can jump approximately 2.5 tiles) just to wait and see which ones were real. I guess it does work with the premise that you are trying to have a shortest time overall so you must focus on just remembering which ones are active. Well done regardless! It's quite fun!

ategon 2022-10-04 02:53

Pretty nice game! The concept of tiles disappearing is a cool concept and leads to some nice risk reward for risking going ahead or waiting for them to show again.

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:08

@kusaji I totally feel you there I wish I so wanted to tweak the time to be a bit shorter but I also wanted to fit the theme :(

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:09

@markymark Oh yeah it totally is a memory test, its hard for me too lol

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:09

@tlatitude I am glad you thought it would be good for speed running I was going for that! Good time on your first go around!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:10

@t-c Thanks I had a lot of fun making the different paths and levels!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:11

@slothzilla-games @dgo I am glad you noticed the jumping effects and landing I really wanted to give a sense of weight on the player!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:12

@dgo I'm glad you liked the wobble :) @ategon Yeee I wanted the player to feel like taking the risk to try and improve their time, seeing if their memory was correct!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 03:14

@genericparadox I like the ideas a glimmer that showed every 5 seconds on a half way point could reduce the amount of waiting!

thatanonoword 2022-10-04 04:03

It's a super cool concept for a game! It has a feel of high pace without forcing you to go fast. The minimap was also extremely useful. Perhaps the physics was a bit janky, but other than that, it was really fun!

pusheeneiro 2022-10-04 08:11

Clustertruck be like. This is such a nice game.

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 17:02

@pusheeneiro Thanks, I totally didnt look at cluster truck for inspiration on the movement lol!

@thatanonoword Thanks yeah I was trying to get a balance of fast paced but also you can take a slower route if you want to! What part of the physics felt janky? Just so I can fix it when I update the game after the jam :) !

thatanonoword 2022-10-04 18:14

For me, it was mainly the mouse sensitivity being low and jumps on ramps felt a bit weird. It's not THAT bad though. The game is till very much fun!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-04 18:20

@thatanonoword Awesome thanks for the feedback ill make sure to make a mouse sensitivity setting when I update the game! I will also see what I can do about the ramps, I am glad you liked it!

ritz1231 2022-10-04 22:01

The game is a lot of fun and the minimap is a great addition to help when planning ahead at the start of stages. It was really fun!

phoenixofforce 2022-10-04 22:08

300time for the first try. Had a lot of fun. Very greate game :)

antsa 2022-10-04 22:10

Finished the game with a time of 462,449 :D

I spent quite a bit of time into the second level, because I just couldn't make the last jump for whatever reason. The difficulty ramp could have maybe been a bit smoother

bqq 2022-10-04 22:20

Nice another speed running adjacent game! The concept is cool and fits the theme well. The mini map really helped me on the blind run through but it was surprisingly engaging to re-run the levels half remembering the patterns. Anyways great work, really enjoyed running this!

dominic-graziano 2022-10-05 01:33

solid game, I enjoyed it. tough part was wanting to go fast but being unable to see which ones were fake in the distance which lead to a lot of trial and error play.

nardandas 2022-10-05 03:24

Really smooth platformer! I found the lack of vertical camera movement a little unsatisfying on the more vertical sections. The minimap helped me a ton with memorization. Great addition! The minimalist aesthetic, was good for the mechanics! Overall pretty nice little concept!

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-05 16:49

@nardandas I totally feel you there I swayed whether to include vertical mouse control or not, I decided not to in the end to keep the player from losing control of the camera view, but I think it would have been wise to make it a setting now that you mention it!

@dominic-graziano Yeah I totally get that I wanted to make the timer a bit shorter but had to keep it at ten seconds haha probably will shorten it after Ludum Dare

@antsa Sorry about the difficulty curve for the second level if you dont mind what part about the last jump did you find difficult so I can fix it? Thanks!

@phoenixofforce Thanks I'm glad you liked it, I enjoyed making it a lot!

@ritz1231 Thanks yeah I found the mini map to be an indispensable inclusion to playing it myself!

thatzniko 2022-10-05 18:28

The movement feels reaally fluid and love it, reminds me of cs:go custom server

theheheo 2022-10-05 18:39

Very nice! I realised that my short term memory is quite bad. The movement felt really nice combined with the camera wiggle + sfx when landing. Also really liked the idea of having to memorize which platforms are fake, it was nice to have the minimap aswell. As someone else said, waiting 10 seconds for the glass to dissapear was a bit rough, it was much more fun to just try and memorize the level. Overall great job!

antsa 2022-10-06 06:31

@aderpychickenstudios No worries. I think it was the last jump before the goal, like from the second last platform to the last platform. It was probably way more easier than i thought, but there was something with it that made me mistime the jump every time and I jumped too early :D

shared 2022-10-07 02:17

Awesome game, the minimap was a very good idea, helped a ton. Reminds me a bit of surf/climb maps from old source games. The music was very fitting, and the gameplay felt fluid. Congratulations !

guilloteam 2022-10-08 08:17

Nice game, fits the theme perfectly. The controls feel really good and responsive, and the mini-map feature is the cherry on top. Good job team!

real-flamingicecubegames 2022-10-08 13:36

I really liked this game. The controls were smooth, but also precise enough to never worry about any jump. Combining speedrunning with memory is a great idea. It made me play a platformer in a completely different way. The mini-map was also extremely helpful here. I don't really have anything bad to say. This is a really solid game.

jandourek 2022-10-08 19:14

I liked it a lot! The jumping feels nice, and the graphics are simple, but effective! I also especially liked the level design. You managed to make some pretty interesting levels utilizing a fairly simple mechanic! Good job!

(My best time was 180.250) :)

ggross 2022-10-09 11:43

Cool platformer engine and level design. But in my point, the mechanics are in conflict: I (and many other players I guess) prefer to memorize the true path. Even when I don't remember clearly, I'm willing to take some risk. But waiting 10 seconds for the fake tiles partially spoils the experience.

lazyalarm 2022-10-10 00:58

Very fun! Reminds me of Cyber Scamper from Mario Party DS.

minipeps 2022-10-10 20:00

The idea behind this game is so smart, it boosts replayability because you want to beat your time and memorize the levels layouts. Besides, the simplistic yet polished look of the game is very appealing to me. Good job!

tsunscreen 2022-10-11 07:30

This was really solidly put together! Managed a time of 221s

aderpychickenstudios 2022-10-11 14:33

@thatzniko Thanks thats a huge compliment!

@theheheo I am glad you like the effects, I will probably change the time you have to wait a bit to shorten to wait in between cycles after the jam is over.

@shared Thank you very much for playing im glad you liked the maps.

@guilloteam Thanks!

@real-flamingicecubegames I agree I think the biggest feature in terms of playability is the mini map!

@jandourek Great time!

@ggross That is totally fair sorry it spoiled the experience for you.

@lazyalarm I loved the game as a kid! It was cool getting a comment from you, I have seen a couple of your Godot videos

@minipeps Thanks I put a lot of time into making it a fluid feeling experience!

@tsunscreen Thanks, good time!

defilerzero 2022-10-13 22:54

A fun speed running entry, with a little bit of memorizing the map at the start. Solid platforming controls, good choice of audio, and fun gameplay.

psv-games-studio 2022-10-19 22:02

Very cool and fun game, the sound is very satisfying and matches the game well, it was a memory test too, it's a little tedious to wait 10 seconds to see which platform is fake so decorating as much as I could was a good strategy to complete the game faster, the time could be shortened but i know if you did that it wouldn't fit the jam theme. Good job! Anotação 2022-10-19 190623.png
