Marco Polo by Nathan 2017-05-15T17:47:11Z
Great mood, but the marco-polo voice over kinda killed that. Interesting game none the less!

Great mood, but the marco-polo voice over kinda killed that. Interesting game none the less!
The concept definitely has potential, but as it is right now it's a but repetitive and simple. I tried making a simulation during a game jam before and it had basically the same problem.
I liked the graphical style, but I was a bit confused on how to actually play it. Audio would be great as well.
Sadly no Linux version :/
I liked this one. Nice simple concept and the implementation seems solid so far. The text is occasionally hard to read. And as previously said: Audio makes a huge difference.
We published a new post-jam version that integrates some of your feedback!
Nice, never played a turn-based shooter before. I like the idea.
Sadly no Linux version
I like games like these! Some background music would be nice and the UI could be improved, but I still liked it.
A nice platformer, but I'm not totally satisfied with the movement. I think the player should stop a little faster, so it's easier to control.
I'd like to play your game, but I don't have Windows or OSX. A web or Linux version would be nice
A Linux and/or Web version of your game would be nice!
I'd really like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux version :(
I could basically copy would @tselmek wrote, except I was unable to play the web version and used the downloaded binary instead.
Definitely a nice entry!
It's funny for a moment, but gets monotone pretty quickly. Then again it's hard to get a lot of mechanics and content into a compo entry. So solid entry either way!
A statically linked version would be good, Archlinux doesn't provide sfml 2.3, so I can't play this
The game looks fun, but sadly there is no Linux and/or web version. :(
I really love planetary simulations !
I had problems with the camera perspective at various locations. Other than that and maybe the lack of sound effects really not a bad entry. A web version would be nice to have.
Very great entry! Nice graphical design, very fitting music and sound effects and a nice interpretation of the theme. It feels so well polished and complete!
I missed an original version without post-jam fixes, so I was not sure about rating this entry. I did it anyway. It's a solid entry, but I'd like to have a lot more info on how to play the game upfront.
Interesting idea, a bit too slow for my taste by great none the less!
The browser game good laggy quite fast, but the downloaded version works well. Pretty nice game (I love interactive tower-defense like games). Once you reach a certain amount of turrets, there is not a whole lot that can happen, but it's easy to improve this post-LD
Sadly no Linux and/or Web version :(
I did not manage to kill someone
Sadly no Linux or Web version.
The game looks great, but sadly there is no Linux version, so I can't play it. :(
I'd like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux version. :(
This is pretty much exactly the same as the first game I ever made using Scratch almost 10 years ago, just a different visual theme. I like these kinds of simple racing games. It's a bit too easy for my taste, but that can easily be tweaked.
Fun little game, especially the arrows going around the planet surprised me. I'd love this as a multiplayer game!
I'd like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux version: :(
There are so many good ways to publish the game binaries, but mediafire is not one of them.
Other than that: Simple but nice entry. A few AI problems (ants stuck in loops or walls).
I'd like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux/Web version. :(
Sadly no Linux version.
Really nice game! I tested the game alone and I can see the fun! Also liked the visual style and the implementation of the theme.
Yep, never played a pair of shoes before, but would do it again! :D
I'd like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux version. :(
Great game. More levels would have been nice through! :)
I really like the graphics style, but just as much do I dislike the repetitive sound effects. I especially like that you integrated status information in the game instead of showing bars or numbers on the game. The game play did not manage to keep my playing.
The WebGL version is horrible slow on my system and I couldn't find a Linux version, so I was not able to play your game.
Placement of weapons didn't work for me. Also a Linux or Web export would be nice, I had to run the project in Unity.
First up: I had to run the game in Unity because there is no Web or Linux version. Please export for more platforms. Also 1-2 screenshots of the game would be nice in the entry post.
I like the idea and I actually had a very similar idea half way through the jam. The sounds and music are fitting, but I'd prefer a little higher fidelity. The graphics are fitting, the asteroids and the rescue target could use some variation though. Game play wise I like the simple implementation, but it's hard to make finer movements.
Given that you can walk off the textured plane you can get a pretty good view on all the dollar signs. Plot twist for me, was that the door screen actually showed euros.
Music is good.
@justswn I fixed the enemies going out of the screen in submission-2.
Interesting idea and I like the artwork and music. It's a little short though and the grabbing mechanic didn't work everytime for me
Definitely confusing with the honor and money. Also after 3 runs I have bought everything there is and there is no real reason to go out anymore except for exploring the generated levels which aren't interesting enough for that.
I liked the background music, very fitting. Sound effects and maybe even voice overs would have been great.
Neither a Linux nor a Web Version even though it's a Unity game. Looked interesting, but I cannot play this.
I actually got the coin as representing a robbery and forcing you to stand still while the head hunters are coming for you. The problem with that though: It's way to easy to fight them off. I was standing there until I had >40k and then just surrendered. The aiming was a bit off but the tracers allowed me to correct easily, so not a real problem. The full-auto revolver was definitely overpowered and given that I could shot that fast the rest of the game felt kinda slow. Not sure what those red patches are supposed to be, but the elevation made enemies impossible to hit.
I like the voxel graphics styles and the music and sounds was quite fitting. Even though I've listed quite a few things I didn't like, I still actually had quite a bit fun playing it. Simple controls, quick to understand what to do.
Liked it overall!
The weapon had some nice punch to it, but strangely on impact and not on firing. Music and sounds where good, some zombie moaning would have been nice. The graphics definitely hurt my eyes. The wobbly camera seems to have caused some rounding errors on the tiles as I had quite a few gaps between tiles. The top down shooter part was fun, but the spawning was tricky sometimes.
I like the art style and the music is fitting. The game feels a little slow given that you are running out of time constantly and at least for me it became repetitive fairly quickly.
no linux support :(
@hungrycatgames @will-chambers @spice-cabinet @rein @cz46 Thanks for the feedback!
I definitely agree with the "clunky" / non-intuitive controls. The initial idea was to be similar to other golf games where you have to master the skill of hitting the ball when a slider is in the perfect spot, but we also see that it's probably not obvious for people not involved in the development. We plan to add additional visual queues and a few camera pans, that were initially planned, might get added.
@heho you found the super well hidden cheat :D
I added a play-through / tutorial video, some known issues / notes to the post, that should clarify things
@blobo I added the link to @rahtainka's soundcloud account.
@justcamh thanks for playing the game! sadly it was super late already here in Germany, so we didn't attend the stream. Zooming out would have made it a lot easier to play. We improved the automatic zoom in the post-jam version already :)
@shaolin-dave for graphics we have merely reused the same star background we used before, which has never been our own (I'll try to trace the origin). for audio we reused the background music, but effects are recorded from scratch. in both cases the asset alone is just one part of the story. not sure how to proceed here.
This games sums up my first few weeks driving during rush hour in france (coming from germany). Very well made.
yay for VR
Great entry, very polished given it's a compo entry. the actual levels could have made more use of all the mechanics explained in the tutorials, but I guess missing time is to blame for that. The fact, that there's this amount and quality of tutorial levels in a compo entry is kinda amazing. Of course some basic sound effects and maybe some background music would be nice.
I **REALLY** don't like the use of short URLs (I assume you did it for analytics on how your links in various places perform), but it feels super shady.
To the game:
Fun skill game. I like the visuals and the music is fitting. The difficulty could increase more, the higher levels almost feel like "more of the same" with the small exception of the target being placed on the track requiring you to hit usually on the first rotation.
Also: Your scoreboard backend also accepts negative numbers. Toyed around with curl a bit, but finally reset my score to the ~6 minutes (387647 millis) I managed to get on my first run.
I'm very interested in this game, however you have no build for my OS. You are using unity, [please publish to the web](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/legendary-orbit-golf/publish-for-web) or at least for Linux and MacOS.
Interesting puzzler, quite convoluted as it should be :D Surprisingly the background music did not get annoying over time. Overall nice job!
Interesting spin on the classic game, I like!
Really cool game. I like the idea of going back to the basics with these kinds of games. It definitely reminds of GTA. I can see me playing this for a while, kinda had to force me to stop and rate :)
I kinda suck at this game, but it seems super polished. Also: I might have toyed around with curl and it might be a good idea to remove the last highscore entry... sorry :D
@alexhicks fair
10/10 would play during rush hour! Small, but awesome, super polished.
Fighting feels kinda odd. I like the graphics style, reminds me of Nidhogg. How much time went into this?
This is actually pretty nice, especially given this was done in 8 hours.
The idea of controlling a spaceship by manipulating the gravity field crossed my mind as well initially. This game kinda feels like the inverse of our game. We went for the hybrid of physics simulation and keplers equation, but that [cost us a large chunk of time](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/legendary-orbit-golf/legendary-orbit-golf-lessons-learned) and you see that in all the rough edges.
anyway onto your game:
The motion of the ship felt kinda odd, but I'm also very used to our game and you are aware of the issue. other than that a very relaxing little game. Visuals and acoustics are nice and work great together. It feels very polished.
I like the idea, but the game feels pretty rough. I was never able to catch the last bug (kinda feels like game development in general) and the other bugs just disappeared without being close at all. But for 11 hours (according to your timelaps) not bad at all.
Nice little game, pretty relaxing
Outstanding quality and amount of content. Out of interest: How much of this was made during the jam? including concepts and stuff?
Cool little game, pretty addictive...
I would pay for this. Seriously, put this on Steam and I will buy it.
A few bugs: - I had a few rendering artifacts when panning around (on the linux build), almost seemed like z-fighting issues. - if you enter a portal while in looped mode, the distortion on the audio stays until you toggle again
Awesome idea and very cool how you introduced the mechanic in-game.
difficult for me, but fun non the less!
Cool game, kinda challenging, but great. a web version of this would be nice, but I I guess the used framework does not easily support that
The idea is kinda cool. The visuals feel a bit weird
I like the visuals and the audio, why can't I rate them? A bit more then just two planets would be nice, even if it's just visual reference.
Cool idea, cool implementation. As a competitive CSGO player it feels almost too easy, just a couple of tries on the last one:
Screenshot from 2020-10-07 01-46-41.png
@stefan-laimer, I once almost got 1-2-3-4-1-5, but mist after the 4. this game is addictive... make it stop :D
Cool little game, reminds me of super hexagon!
The game (played on Linux, but saw it on Windows as well) felt a little laggy, especially when picking up the yellow points. The second one is similar to super hexagon, except slower. I liked that one, especially when the obstacles got more difficult around 100 points.
Really interesting game. I like the clean look!
Pretty good. I felt the repetitiveness in the third run, but I guess that's part of the story. Visibility was a bit problematic. The first few minutes I wandered around not quite figuring out where to go, because I didn't actually see the lanterns.
Simple voice over for the messages would have been nice and simple foliage / environment sounds would have been nice.
fun little game. the ropes go wild occasionally, but that's almost to be expected. the sounds could be a bit more impactful
Nice game, I like the visual style. I found the sound effects and the music not fitting at times, though great in quality.
Out of interest: were all assets made during the jam or did you reuse things?
@ladmiester outstanding.
basically the perfect implementation of the idea I had early on, but that we didn't go with. Liked every bit of it (except maybe the overly aggressive spikes at some points :D).
I like the implementation of the theme. Also quite a bit if content for the time and pretty polished too.
Nice to see games with the full audio expierence: music, sound effects and voice dialogs. sadly I could not rate on audio.
Lovely little platformer. The movement felt a bit odd at times, but otherwise solid. I like the implementatino of the theme.
Solid entry. I like the glow effects. The geometry is a little simple and movement a but clunky around the corners.
+1 on the WASD comments. also this game is really hard. having to avoid bullets from all directions without any cover, and shooting at targets approaching from all directions becoming basically as small as a bullet itself. All while being barely fast enough to dotch a bullet at short to medium distance and no diagonal movement.
However I like the visual style. Simple and flat, but the colors go well together and nicely integrated HUD/UI elements. Sound effects are fitting, some kind of fast paced music would be nice.
@rgb-games we love Dorfromantik and it inspired the name of our game, but we are not involved in any way with Dorfromantik
This game looks amazing from the images, I'd really like to play it, but sadly there is no Linux or web version :/
See: * https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/legendary-space-space-space/please-export-for-web-andor-linux * https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/legendary-orbit-golf/publish-for-web
I like these kinds of space shooters. The whole thing felt a little slower than I like and overall a little to easy. Other than that I agree with the previous commenters. Overall a good entry as usual!
Solid entry. The lense distortion felt a little weird given it's a 2D game.
I'd like to play your game, but sadly there is neither a Linux nor a Web version.
Yay for a Linux-first game and it being open source! Simple idea but pretty well executed.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/legendary-orbit-golf/publish-for-web
Thanks for the Web version!
I think I kinda liked it:
Screenshot from 2021-04-28 23-54-17.png
Would be even better if it would get more difficult the deeper you go and also it's pretty laggy (still very playable though) and it gets laggier the deeper you go
Solid platformer, but I don't really like how the movement feels, can't really pinpoint what exactly the problem is though. Fitting music, some sound effects would be nice.
Not bad for a first jam game. Some background music would be great
Solid entry, but combat seems a little simple.
I'd like to play the game, but sadly there is neither a Linux nor a Web version :/
@saltysa thanks! I love the art style and music.
This is pretty cool. Good selection and progression of the exercises. I might actually give this to the trainees where i work.
The controls take some getting used to, fairly often I dragged an instruction in to later notice it didn't actually got added. I would have preferred a text editor :D
Solid game. The world felt a little empty at times, but other than that pretty nice.
Awesome game. A little odd that you can jump repeatedly, but... why not? Some of the modifiers are pretty funny.
I really really like the vehicle and fighting mechanic. The building phase is a little tight time-wise, so it's hard to get a useful vehicle, but still very cool.
Pretty cool. Sometimes it didn't register my clicks which was a little annoying, but not a big deal.
I love the humor of this game.
Surprisingly polished.
In hindsight I wonder why speed dating never crossed our mind, so fitting.
This is psychedelic... not necessarily in a bad way :D
I got stuck in the player selection menu once, but besides that and some glitchy collisions around the stones: Really awesome game. I could definitely see this polished up on steam as a coach game with friends.
I would have loved to play this, sadly it doesn't run on wine on linux. Any chance to get a linux export?
An interesting spin on a simple version of plants vs zombies, i like it.
Short, but sweet
The music is pretty nice, unfortunate to have to muffled a significant portion of the time
Pretty solid entry, especially for compo. The level/wave progression could have been more gradual, in this first waves you can just park the car at the spawn point and have the bug run into it and suddenly the last wave floods you from every direction.
Btw it works on linux via wine.
I would have loved to play the game, but sadly it doesn't run on linux via wine. Would a linux export be possible?
Cute art style and solid simple game! Thanks for the web export too!
It runs fine on linux via wine btw. Seems like a game that could easily have a web export. Nice entry non the less.
I have no idea what I need to do. On the flip side: It seems to work fine on linux via wine!
fyi the game works under linux with wine. have you tried exporting for web?
The idea is pretty cool, unfortunately the controls didn't work for me or at least I wasn't able to cut anything beyond the tomato.
This game immediately reminded me of our entry to LD30, which has a very similar mechanic. I like the style of puzzle. Solid first entry!
Sadly the game doesn't run out of the box with wine on linux, it looks really cool though. :/
@cislaru-corneliu sure, get in touch, email is on our website :)
I like the art style!
Very unexpectedly very awesome. Took me a moment to even realize what's happening.
Kinda disappointing to not have it on http://idlebadger.com
I'd love to play this game, but unfortunately there is neither a Linux or Web version.
@andreadbx mark it as untested and I can provide feedback :)
Game wise a little lacking, but still fun to just drive around. I can imagine what could have been.
I love these kinds of games. It get's tricky with the amonut of people on the map to get through it without losing lives... Definitely needs more levels.
The collision logic definitely needs some work, but I liked it. It seems 281500 is the maximum score? Sometimes I got 300xp, sometimes I got 500, is that based on time? would a higher score be possible? Either way, I could see this as a touch-based mobile game.
A little confusing, but cool
Hexagons are the Bestagons! Love the visuals. The AI needs some work, but otherwise a very nice entry.
Feels like a really cool interpretation of the classic snake somehow. Played it way to much.
Pretty slow, but it still somehow engaged me more than I'd like to admit.
Pretty relaxing with calm music. Also a surprisingly large world.
Music and voice over, not bad.
16665? The end game lacks variety, but otherwise a pretty cool game. Spent way to much time on this at this time of the day.
Nice implementation of this kind of game.
Impressive for a solo entry, especially seeing voice over and 3d graphics.
This is probably my favorite game I played so far... by a long shot. I could definitely see this generating revenue as a mobile game.
Yeah as milq said, some basic music (even if audio is opted out) and very basic animation would have made this a lot better. Still a solid entry
I'd REALLY like to play this game, unfortunately there is neither a Linux nor a Web version :'(
Nice interpretation of the theme.
Really nice game! It's rare to get nice audio experiences.
No Linux or Web version :(
The source code link goes to github's 404 pages, is the repo private by any chance? Also no Linux or web version sadly.
Really cool idea! Unfortunately the cat stopped being rendered in the web version, but it was still a cool game.
I liked the art style more than I expected. The AZERTY keyboard layout tripped me up a bit, because I had to translate from QWERTY while mashing buttons. Solid entry.
I'd really like to play this, but unfortunately the games doesn't run via wine and there is also no Linux or Web builds. The visuals look awesome.
Strong first entry! The controls felt a bit clunky, but on the other side it made for a good challenge.
No Linux of Web versino :(
Is it just me or are there really no opponents? The races feel kind of useless and boring, though I see the charm of the idea.
This game is literally underrated and it shouldn't be that way. I really liked the sound and visuals and the general game idea, even though I'm not actually into such games. Would play again!
next time please publish a webgl version though.
Visuals and sounds are nice, but the game play gets repetitive pretty quickly. I played it to the end expecting something unexpected only find the end screen.
I like the idea and I think it has a lot of potential! Your game is pretty rough around the edges, but I still had my fun with it after I got used to the controls.
