ninjaaaaaaaaa! :D oh! It looks very nice! Is it also on indiexpo?

careface 2017-04-25 07:36

@ghostandshell only uploaded on gamejolt, glad you like it!

aidenm125 2017-04-25 07:47

I like this one! Real nice controls and actually quite fun. Would really like to see more with maybe longer levels - to really get the NES feel.

alex-williams 2017-04-25 08:09

Definitely want some chiptunes to go with, but super super fun so far. Very nostalgic. Great job!!

careface 2017-04-25 09:32

Well, as for a first Jam experience, and not talking about how I disliked the theme, I learned that it is very exhausting. I now know next time I need to plan better the content, because I actually had in mind a 3 level per world, which good amount of time was wasted thinking how I could actually implant the theme in this game.

Time is short but, I am really up for a full game someday! Thanks y'all for playing and dropping a comment!

takusan 2017-04-25 10:47

I like it, it really plays well. And it has the right feeling to it. Throw in some chiptunes there! :)

ben-beehler 2017-04-25 14:29

The game has some very nice art and it plays really well. The sound effects feel very natural. My real only complaint is that it's short but that is something that had to be done because of the limited available time to build a game during ludum dare as it is only 72 hours long. Overall, I really liked it. Good Job.

careface 2017-04-26 14:52

Thanks, I've managed to extend just a little bit the levels with some chiptune x)

particles-gamestudio 2017-05-01 06:24

Really cool Game, can't stop playing it. Great job guys, the pixel art is so simple, amazing!

occultone 2017-05-01 09:23

I played this in my livestream a few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiOC3F43xF0 (I think the OBS Software ate the video, but the audio is still valid)

This was really well done! It's on my list to revisit and you have a very solid prototype! I want to see more of this game.

freyby 2017-05-01 13:08

Beatiful game, graphics and music are amazing, it's really fun to play, and I really liked the way game was changing worlds after defeating the bosses. Well done!

careface 2017-05-01 13:41

@occultone woah glad you enjoyed! interesting points indeed, the level design was a bit rushed and barely play-tested properly, so the big gaps happened (I was kinda aware of them being an issue)

I normally have a hard time making "easy" games because as the creator, I can play it very easily so I convince myself its Ok and people should deal with it x)

Still, its something I am to improve yet, the feedback is where I learn my mistakes, so hopefully, it eventually get better, for sure!

Thanks for the great feedback, and everyone else who played it!

Btw, used GameMaker, not Construct

nnnnneeeedddd 2017-05-01 16:45

This is aweeesooommeee. I love the art, and the attacking. It just looks so good, and retro awesomeness.

This is my favorite game so far, thanks :)

dayvidmoreira7 2017-05-01 19:48

Beautiful art man, have you done all? However, I've loved this game!!

ethan-allwood 2017-05-01 20:15

The art was great. Really fun to play. My only issue is that the controls felt a little awkward. For example, you could have up to jump then space to attack. Other than that, great job!

yves 2017-05-01 20:20

What a cool ninja platformer :D I enjoyed it even the boss kinda fucked me hard :D Would be cool if you could add maybe some double jumping to improve the ninjaness :)

Cheers

bendev-games 2017-05-01 21:41

Nice game! It surprised me when the player changed character after each world, really cool idea. The art fits the game well and the music is very cool too. Two things that bothered me a little was a couple leap of faiths and after the player landed on ground felt it has some milliseconds delay for the next input.

Great game overall keep working on it!

occultone 2017-05-01 23:23

@careface Yeah man, I look forward to seeing more. You have some very solid mechanics going on there.

careface 2017-05-02 04:20

damn my body is not ready for this x)

@dayvidmoreira7 everything created, coded and animations were done from scratch by me, I had some classmates that did some minimal pixel art in my supervision. Audio in the other hand, are royalty free taken from opengameart.org

nofuel 2017-05-02 12:03

I really like the short intro before the bossfight starts and the death animation, it really feels like an old NES game! I also like the idea of playing in a different world. Great job!

huvaakoodia 2017-05-03 06:40

Haha! I like the *twist*. I didn't read the description so it came completely out of left field.

The platforming is simple, but surprisingly enjoyable. Somersaulting over enemies as a Ninja is rad!

The boss battles could have used some work. They are very, *very* easy. More projectiles on the screen, please. A checkpoint just before the boss would be nice too.

Good work!

careface 2017-05-03 08:20

@huvaakoodia I feel you, as a "hardcore" player, I really wanted to make difficult fights, but in the name of the jam, it must be easy and enjoyable for everyone, or else people would just give up.

Still, I don't know why I never thought of check point before a boss fight, that way the fights could be tougher without the frustration of playing the level all over again. Caffeine wasn't strong enough I guess

endlesspeak 2017-05-05 00:05

Very well executed :). To be honest, I was kinda sad, that it ended after second world :/ but good job. Btw: Player animation in the second world is awesome :)

inventroom 2017-05-08 04:59

Old-school platformer! Here’s the quick rundown of my thoughts:

PROS - A fun, classic retro platformer in presentation and execution - Music and graphics are really good

CONS - More levels would be nice, haha

careface 2017-05-09 23:03

@inventroom thanks for playing and the patience :D sorry about the level design, wasn't the best even for a retro! But that was due the lack of game testing, so next time I know x)

pcmaster 2017-05-14 09:06

Daaamn, the boss was hard! :) Good game, awesome retro, fun and fast gameplay.

veralos 2017-05-15 08:37

This is pretty neat. The visuals look nice and the music/sound is good. The gameplay is fairly standard but works well. I wasn't expecting a second level with a gameplay change, so that was a nice surprise. Using A and Space for the controls feels a bit awkward. You probably could have chosen keys that were a bit closer together. It would be interesting to see an extended version with some different types of levels.

pschichtel 2017-05-15 16:55

I'd like to play this game, but sadly there is no Linux version: :(

careface 2017-05-15 17:38

@pschichtel sorry to hear that, next time I'll make sure to export on other platforms x)

philomory 2017-05-15 17:58

To start off, this feels like it has _nothing_ to do with the theme, but once you beat the first boss and see the transition between areas, it makes sense, and I actually really like it.

I'd love to see an expanded version!

lordecroowel 2017-05-18 01:36

I really would like to play it. Unfortunately I just have a Mac. But, for the art that I can see.. 5 stars. Haha. Are you from Portugal, Brazil...?

siegfriedcroes 2017-05-19 16:40

Really cool retro style game :D Would sure be cool if you continued work on it :)

2017-05-26 17:32

Nice little platformer! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNW6-tGfc3E

careface 2017-05-28 13:10

@jupiter-hadley awesome! thanks for playing :]
