@kritz Hello, You said it’s very good game, but you selected 1-2 stars for every category, what standards you need to get 5 stars (Very perfect excellent) ?????? If you didn’t like the game, just say it and why ?

You need to explain the controls, I started the game knowing next to nothing of how to plant. after losing the first time I figure out that you need to water the ground first before planting but after that I don't know what to do. The game was well made, graphic was inconsistent, the tiles were boring while the character models were put in more work.
@kritz Hello, Than you for review :v:
@guiltyking Sorry for poor controlling explanation, next time I will try to give more time on tutorial and have you watched full tutorial, cause the planting system is explained.
Edit: Ahh sry didn't see that I had a bug with tutorial, but sadly I can't fix it... So i uploaded tutorial in discription.
I couldn't figure out how to Plant those seeds :( tried to water it first but my watering can didn't do anything :S A Short tutorial or key mapping would be awesome.
Visual feedback and the sound is very well done!
And sometimes your enemies are spawning directly into the player that should be get fixed :)
Stardew valley meets guns. I've enjoyed this game, well done :smile:
@nico-fallosch hey, thank you for rewiev, if you wanna check I added short video in intch.io in discription section, couse I ad a problem with video clip(it's working on windows zip)
@hechi thank you :D
The game is pretty fun, however there are lots of things that bothered me, so here's a small list so you can change a few things if you think this is relevant !
- Zombies are fast, reaaaaally fast, and it is not a problem, it's a choice, but then I would like that they do not spawn right on my face and explode on me - When a message says that the wave is ended, there are still spawning zombies. Maybe less, but then it's strange to say the wave is completely ended, just say it is some break time or something - The planting system is hard to get used to and to understand. I did not watch the video on my first try because I expect games to be clear by themselves, and it is almost impossible to guess you have to get some water first (though it is pretty logical actually haha) - Do not allow the player to buy seeds if it's going to kill him
Overall I liked it ! The shooting and movement felt really great and the music is nice! Good entry :)
@saering omg you made me laugh. Finally really great review. I really appreciate it. For zombies yeah maybe its little to fast, but you know when I'm making an alone game, there's no one to test it and it feels to easy after 500 plays :D.
Zombie spawns..... I will fix tomorrow(maybe, if I'm not going be lazy(I know the solution few codes added needed))
the major problem with this game is hard to learn and there is no explanation. I couldn't do it because I ran out of time. So next time I'm 100% going to make a small game, but really polished.
I'm so glad that played my game. I love your writing :love_letter:
I wish I could cooperate with you next jam :smile:
You're welcome! No problem about their speed if you want them to be fast, just let the player some time to kill them :p And yes, whenever your game has mechanics that are not 100% intuitive, you can't let the player find out by himself (or maybe in sandbox-like games, but that's not the case here). Tutorials are hard to make tho, and they take time, that's why they are pretty annoying in game jams but you can't just skip it sadly xD I wish we could!
And well I'm sorry but I'd rather do a jam with people I can be with IRL ^^ and since I'm in a game dev school, there are tons of people I would like to work with for ludum dare !
@saering no problem :D
A solid entry.
**Positive things: **
- fits the theme - for one person and the amount of time realy polished
**Negative things: **
- it's a little bit annoying if the zombies spawns in you and you don't have a chance to react and escape
Great work, well done!
Good job on your entry, it's pretty fun! It did take me a while to understand how to plant the seeds though. I agree with what saering wrote but I have a few extra points that I think would make for a more enjoyable experience:
- You should be able to plant seeds and water them afterwards. This is also an easy solution to make it more intuitive since the player could either water or plant the seed on a tile.
- This point is more of an opinion. I find that the plants dry out too fast and die. Between shooting zombies, trying to water the soil and plant more seeds, I felt like I didn't really have time to take care of the old seeds. Since you're already being chased by zombies, maybe a progression system where you have to wait for the plant to grow before watering it again would be better. If you still want the plants to have a chance to die, maybe if they get trampled by zombies that could kill them?
I hope that's helpful! :)
@rahtainka ty for your feedback. I will come home today and I'm going to fix this problem, by changing 1 if statement.
@youbestrong hey, thank you for review and ideas. I like the idea that at first stage i can water it or plant seeds on dry land. I agree with you that it's hard to keep up with really fast game, I could make more time for planting, llmake zombies slower. To add to this, the idea that could zombies ėat plants are really great, or change zombies to animals. It could be 2typeals of zombies, like eater and atacker.
Nice! plants and zombies are always a good pick :D
@black-potion yeah :D
The weapon had some nice punch to it, but strangely on impact and not on firing. Music and sounds where good, some zombie moaning would have been nice. The graphics definitely hurt my eyes. The wobbly camera seems to have caused some rounding errors on the tiles as I had quite a few gaps between tiles. The top down shooter part was fun, but the spawning was tricky sometimes.
@pschichtel Thank you for the review ! Now when I look back to a game, it's a bit unlogical for gun impact.The zombiemoan woupd be an awesome idea, why i didn't think of that....? And the gab is more unitys problem(if you are playong on small resolution and don't have pixel perfect camera), the pixel perfect sucks in unity, couse you have litle control of it and I didn't had time to search for new one.
I like the idea of mixing 2 differents games into one... Everything is simplist but works well ! Kind of stress both in harvesting and killing... Nice entry!
Nice work! Took me a while to get the coordination down to switch tools, keep water filled, and shoot zombies, but got it eventually. I wanted to know how many seeds I had left to plant, etc. There didn't seem to be any negative effect of the zombies to my garden, only to me.
Really liked the combination of a farming simulator with a shooting game. Was fun to switch between the rather peaceful farming sections and then blasting some zombies! Could just be me being rubbish but I did find the game a little difficult as the plants ran out of water or needed to be harvested pretty quickly and keeping on track of that, plus keeping my watering can filled, plus shooting zombies, plus keeping an eye out for the seed van to appear made it hard for me to last more than a few rounds. I also kept forgetting that the shoot button was left click and not the space bar which served as the 'action' button for all tools except the gun. But those are little things. Great entry!
Screenshake was super excessive to the point of being disorienting. I'd dial it back a few notches. Zombie spawn logic should also probably also do a quick check to ensure we don't spawn them on screen.
Overall I'm not sure I felt the purpose/value of the zombie waves. They felt very bolted-on. I suppose it's a forcing function for health/growing, but it doesn't really feel like part of the main loop.
@fireslash what do you mean with zombie spawn logic???
Anyways, thank you for review
@beastiebeastie thank you :heart:
@heyycap Maybe it's not really clear in my game, but seed quantity is written in inventory.
Thank you for the review!!!
@pierallard thank you :heart:
Interesting idea, combining farming and shooting. Sadly, farming is just too hard while defending yourself from zombies. All my plants died. But I didn't really need the health from the plants anyway, because the zombies where too easy too shoot.
