Cool soundscape – a longer loop would have helped.
Very difficult to compete against the boxes spitting out, and tough to keep something in your forklift. With a little refinement, this could get addicting.
The shake is a bit much haha. Tough to time the dodge, too. Good start, though!
Had to play a few times just to figure out the course. Good job with the sounds though, that helped.
Hot Tub Stu composer here! Thanks all for the great feedback. If you had trouble with the cucumber and potato, please try again. It's now more forgiving.
Suddenly I'm not so thirsty anymore.
I think you could definitely go further with it, maybe a temporary speed boost would keep interest up, or a way to quarantine viruses. Great job otherwise.
The gameplay felt smooth. It is confusing when the voiceover suddenly changes the next time you play the game haha... Just keep it consistent.
Clever! Great work with the puzzles. A little music would have been nice.
If you win, 2 music tracks are playing on top of each other. Nice work, overall. These people want the strangest things.
The void kills you really fast. Having a "boss" right away is kind of tough. With a little balancing this could be pretty fun. Nice art.
I wanted to know how much each thing costed. Also didn't know right away that I had to buy something to put on the tower. Graphics look pretty good, though, and gameplay was interesting!
Would be great to see this developed more! Good start.
itch.io link gives a 404
Good look and feel. Eventually I got the hang of the controls, but they didn't feel natural at first.
Clever! Agree with flashviper – would have been nice to see some more development.
Agreed about that mechanic! That opens up the possibility for puzzle design.
Ridiculous! I think control could be improved.
You could add a mode where both of Jesus's hands can control a vehicle as the game progresses.
I wanted to move faster so I could explore the world more! Interesting though.
I was confused as to why members of my party has Xs on them during combat even though I had never lost a battle or messed up. Also got a game over after only a few successful battles.
Hey all, "Shoot or Move" composer here. Thanks for the great feedback! We did several rounds of playtesting ourselves with 4 PS4 controllers, and while the AI aren't bad at all, it is way more fun if you get a chance to play with friends.
@kambing powerups were a stretch goal we didn't get to implement during the jam!
Sacrifices were made. But we made it out.
That got dark.
2 hours to take my clothes out of the dryer??
That is a ruff final boss.
Creative! I like the mechanic, and there's lots of opportunity for puzzle design here. More polished graphics would go a long way here.
This is great. Tough to control, but don't change that – it's a boat, shouldn't be easy. Theme application is a bit loose, but game is fun. It would be nice if different kinds of enemy ships came in once in a while. Nice work!
Straightforward and clear application of theme, great. The gameplay was frustrating; hard to know when I was going to be hit by the enemy. A story would be nice, too; dialogue presented a quite generic scenario.
I like the graphics and concept. I played against myself, but nothing happened even when there was only one piece of one color left, and somehow I killed myself with spells. I didn't end up using spells until after the other color died, so I'm confused about the win state. Also was never sure whose turn it was.
Nice work, simple and straightforward; our team came across this kind of idea during brainstorming, but decided it was too dark... Otherwise an additional challenge (aside from adjusting speed) could've been different level designs. Or changing some parameter the more lives you collect.
2:36! Addicting gameplay, once I found out you can knock the other racers off the track (some car impact SFX would help for feedback there). Maybe it would have been better to hand design the course, rather than randomly place obstacles. But, alas, this is a jam. Nice job.
Web version doesn't work. Freezes as soon as I hit an enemy.
The purple guy is rough... Nicely done, runs pretty smoothly, and appreciated the leaderboard. The art definitely could've been higher quality, and that would've added to the immersiveness of the game. Very direct application of theme.
The gameplay was a little static, and a bit too predictable. That said, I found myself strategizing on resource management to decide what to buy or sell. At times, I wish I had the choice to buy a specific thing, but I suppose the randomness plays into having to be prepared.
Solid little submission and great use of theme! I really enjoyed the 90 year old's ability. I was actually expecting to stay older when arriving at the next level, maintaining that ability.
Really interesting mechanic! @sebastien-bourgeois you are swimming against the current! It wasn't clear to me at first either. Move outside the current to be able to go the opposite way.
I was able to cheese level 5, and I couldn't get level 6. Cool opportunity for puzzle-building.
@pepijn @no-grapes-games
You are made out of seeds, so that is your life. As you move, you "spend" them by planting them. The return on your "investment" are the seeds that grow from the plants, which, after picking them up, allow you to live longer.
Thanks for playing!
Nice work! Took me a while to get the coordination down to switch tools, keep water filled, and shoot zombies, but got it eventually. I wanted to know how many seeds I had left to plant, etc. There didn't seem to be any negative effect of the zombies to my garden, only to me.
I think I got the first level. It wasn't clear that I beat it. Then I couldn't get past level 2, even with the hint. It is not clear at all what objects in the environment you can interact with. The application of the theme is good, though.
Nice work, but it seems to be lacking in gameplay. This could be a fine educational game, though.
How much does that bike cost?? Nice job. Could use audio. I'm glad I discovered the upgrades. I thought I could stack upgrades, but realized I couldn't.
Our team toyed with this type of idea. Sometimes you have the same answer twice on the choices... And it didn't seem to matter what I chose, and there was an unpredictable result after choosing certain things, without an apparent cause.
I am not sure I understand why dead batteries bounce, but this game looks nice. It took me a while to get the hang of ground pounding, and was tough to make good use of the platforms. A little more DI might be nice. The music was a little repetitive. Good job with the theme – our team did consider the whole electronic things having a current idea during brainstorming.
Nice work! Fun concept, strangely addicting. I was determined to get the cats to sit still, but they do what they want. They actually look like mice to me.
Really great work! Immersive with the environment, sounds, music, etc. I got to the end. If I restart the game without exiting, I can't recollect the coins I've already gotten.
I beat the game without finding the owl/minimap. It took me a few tries. I think the 3rd try I got it. Actually, what really helped me the most was increasing the brightness. The first time I played, I didn't even see a passageway because it was too dark.
Otherwise, I think a little more direction might be nice at the beginning. By the 3rd time, I knew where to go, but only because I had been to each of the rooms several times.
There was that big room with all the snake statues in a circle and the big door... I was interested in that (and couldn't open the door).
I enjoyed how the sound/music changed when you went to different environments.
The first time I played, I got the metallic ball stuck in the rocks (which I also would have been interested to get past if it were possible).
I actually did try to push the snakes off the platform right away, but there sometimes wasn't enough room around the platform for me to push the snakes off, and they bunched up with each other. It's generally difficult to control how you push things.
One thing I do remember – when you break a vase, your character recoils. So if I'm on a ledge, and I break the pot, I might fall off the ledge.
Glad it's helpful!
Really great job! I kind of wanted something more at the end. But very clever overall.
Nice work! It's a good thing the foxes are not very smart. But who decided to put 3 foxes and one hen in the same fence?
Thanks, @joe-williamson!
You can traverse the world so much faster in this new mode of transportation!
Great job! I got a little over 7 1/2 min. Good thing I'm a pretty fast swimmer! I'd like a different sound effect for each type of item pickup. Also a way to cook more fish at once, like a frying pan or something. Or to keep warmer while swimming, perhaps a moving raft. I couldn't pick up items that floated by me while standing on the raft; I had to be in the water.
Great job for your 2nd game! It seemed like choosing a certain character allowed you to go further. I think it would be good if you could still go just as far with a different personality trait, but end up somewhere else. I would enjoy seeing the story more developed.
Interesting! I wasn't really sure what my objective was. I only progressed to "level 2" when I ran out of health in level 1, and then continued with 0 health in level 2. At first, it seemed like the ninja turned into a meatball when defeated. Some tasteful SFX would be nice. Heh.
Wish I was able to see what the other weapons were! Lost the pizzazz once I couldn't upgrade anymore. Is that a potato launcher at the beginning?
This is hard to play! Green guys are really fast, so it's hard to attack when they chase you, and there's no reward for beating them, so I just avoid enemies. There doesn't seem to be a lot of variety in the gameplay. I wasn't able to get very far, but it just seemed like a bunch of square rooms with randomly placed enemies. I wasn't sure which way to go. Funny concept, though!
Couldn't get all crystals and got stuck in floors/wall a bunch of times. I like the style, though.
Funny... I didn't see the purpose of wandering around the labrynth until I found the exit. Other than that I seemed to have infinite food/drink, so keeping the spirit alive wasn't really a challenge, just a chore. Great graphics.
Great idea for a little arcade game. I like the LED display as well. Some more fun SFX (think pinball or slot machine) or music would've been good. The boss felt the same as the regular level.
Took me a little bit to understand how to progress, but eventually got it. It wasn't clear the purpose of a builder, as I didn't see anything get built. Also, it'd be nice if the farmers went to the fields. Sometimes the people congregate in weird areas of the screen, and sometimes my sacrifices got stuck just before entering the conveyer belt. Good work!
Understand you were working by yourself. Straightforward concept. I just wish I had a little more feedback for actions. And sometimes I would shoot and the bullets would pass right through the enemies.
@ugghmaster it's a bottomless pit, obviously! ;-)
@johannimations so glad someone caught the Wilhelm scream reference!
@lairinlair Thanks! Hit me up (contact form on my website via my profile) and maybe that can happen in the future. I don't play any guitar-like instruments, so it's always nice to know someone who does.
@feingehacktes Normally in this circumstance (in this world), it would be okay if the outlaw died during capture (probably a shootout), and you'd still receive the reward or whatever for capturing them. In this game, you're not allowed to kill the outlaw, so you aren't given a gun. Gotta get him alive.
Great job! I'm impressed that this was only made in a weekend. The main music got repetitive quickly. Gameplay was addictive and built pretty well. I felt umbrellas were the best strategy.
Really well done! Excellent level design and use of mechanic with mini puzzles. Impressive.
Funny! I wish I could hire more interns. It wasn't clear what effect the duck had, if any.
@crashape ah, see if you take the duck to them without a red head, a bar still fills, so makes me think I'm doing something.
Funny... But the pug is already alive because of the capsule! Why do I need to bounce around? I am sure you tried to make sure there were no impossible situations, but I definitely got in some really tricky spots due to the pesky boost pads. Good job, though, funny take on infinite runner/bouncer.
Good job for your first family jam! Graphics are nice. Seems like you can only collect a relic from the side. I stood on top of it like a platform without collecting it. The sound effects are too loud and intense. The jump sounds like it's an 8-bit game, which it's not. No need to play the jump sound when you simply walk off a platform. This game has a bunch of potential to be developed and refined.
Nice job for your first jam. Twice in an row I got dust storm, followed by night, which almost surely kills the plant from lack of sunlight. I couldn't get past day 3 or 4 in general. Instead of the verbose control instructions, just say WASD/arrow keys to move, E to interact, etc... Everyone understands that. Also you don't need to write the word "empty" on a reservoir with no water in it. I can see that it's empty.
This game is tough! The ICKs move so fast it was pointless for me to try to defend against them. Blackouts happen really often. Good concept though. Could use balancing.
I could not find anything to do past the 1st room. Also, I'm sure the graphics look great on your end but they get really wonky inside the room with crazy dark shadows that make it hard to see where anything is. The background seemed to work though. The music seemed way too epic for the gameplay/story as far as I could tell (I know you opted out of that category).
Nice work! It could use some tuning. At first I didn't realize that low hunger was good. It is sometimes very difficult to keep them alive long enough to get old, and it wasn't immediately clear what any activity aside from fishing, sleeping, and cooking actually did.
Sounds like an automatic name generator lol. Sorry, I didn't know what to do! Also, be careful of the levels on your audio – it was constantly peaking and getting digital distortion.
Good idea! It was nice to discover I could put my own number in walk or wait, but once I got past level 2, it was just a numbers guessing game. I'd like to be able to zoom out and see the whole map so I can plan ahead better, otherwise it's just a shot in the dark and hope it works.
Nice work! At first I struggled, but once I got the hang of ducking/shooting, gameplay felt pretty good. Great use of theme.
Not bad for the time you had! I noticed that once I lassoed the cow, if I did nothing (didn't even try to drag it back to the barn), it would just slingshot back that direction automatically. Horse "driving" controls were a bit difficult to get used to.
Good start. I found that the strategy of choosing a particular explosive didn't really matter and I just spammed bombs in slow mo most of the time. It's basically a difficult game of "keep it up." Not related to theme, but why not.
Nice idea! I found it quite difficult and "grindy" on a keyboard. The keys for the colors and magnets were not intuitive and it was difficult to properly control the magnet platforms unless you weren't standing on them which then requires great precision.
Worked fine for me on Mac OS X 10.11.6. Nice little experience for your first jam. There wasn't really a challenge as you can't die and you only need to go one direction, but the idea can definitely be developed to create more complex puzzles (think the Lost Woods in the original LoZ, but where each screen doesn't look exactly the same).
Nice work, I got pretty far and got the hang of how to handle each color enemy. The most distracting parts for me were that the screen basically reloaded at every step, and that I could only see a few steps in front of me, making it easy to accidentally run into an enemy.
5/5 for graphics. And not too scary!
Also had no idea what was going on or how to play.
13 min 19 seconds, about 41 WPM. Looks very nice. Great work!
Fun! The anvil is really hard to use.
I gave up protecting camels and just foraged for resources. Worth it.
Odd as it may seem, I wanted more time so I could explore more of the "world" and encounter more creatures.
Odd as it may seem, wish I had more time to explore!
Clever idea!
379! I have no idea what that means haha.
Very well done! Beautiful, but dangerous.
No idea what's going on.
It wasn't clear during the minigame that I didn't need to worry about my driving. Nice mood, otherwise.
It didn't work for me. Couldn't move.
@Escape I am trying again now and it seems to be working so far! I'll let you know if I run into anything again.
Great work! It told me I saved all the cows before I had even gone into the 2nd portal. Also, sometimes when exiting an area, I'd get stuck walking one direction (up or down) for a few seconds.
I don't want to ruin it for the next player.
Would be nice with actual music! Addicting nonetheless. I got down to 1% waste with 100% happy people. Small town, though.
The physics felt weird. Other than that, an interesting mashup.
@metjm @fitz13 @Sean Oneil @nardandas @Evan Leibman @DraughtVader
Thanks all for the amazing feedback so far! The original inspiration for the first half of the genre mashup was surgeon simulator, so it was kind of intentional that the controls are a bit squirrely, so it's not too easy to place the houses and really easy to accidentally knock the buildings over. That is where the fun happens!
@Arqcenick @Dekobii @firellon @TechnoNugget
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments and for playing!
@YinYin I don't think they were expecting air-dropped houses.
@YinYin The desktop versions should run without crashing.
@Reivert That's not a bug. ;-)
I had to stop at the switching characters part, since I don't have a controller. Tried and true grindy puzzles are addicting.
Love the graphics! Music is annoying. When I exit the cursor I can't bring it back in.
Clever! Sound cut out on me after level 1.
Failed to load!
Good job for your first jam/solo game. I honestly lost interest after a while, seeing that every level was just more of the same thing. But with a few variations and faster gameplay I could see this getting addicting.
If you drive fast at a certain area of the surrounding trees and time the spacebar just right, you can launch yourself into the air. The grass was entirely black for me...
Windows 10 64-bit. I'm on Parallels, if that matters.
Not bad! Casual moves quite slow... The system of hearts wasn't intuitive. I collected them, but then when I got hurt, they were still there, but just the number went down... When I saw the obstacles change after gaining a new ability, it made me want to explore more.
Easy to learn, hard to master! Style points for the art.
