S.P.A.C.E – Stinky Purring Annoyed Cat Escape by limered 2018-08-13T23:38:45Z
Funny idea and pretty similar to a lot of gatherings irl where there's a cat or really any pet, everyone always wants to go to it haha. Good job.

Funny game! A bit broken though.
This was a ton of fun. Good concept and enjoyable game overall. There was a bit of difficulty too, which I definitely appreciated. Great job!
You took a concept that would be annoying and made it fun. I really liked it!
Very pretty and super easy.
Very well done visually! I loved the story elements they were a nice touch.
This was absolutely depressing but beautifully told. It was pretty captivating. Great job.
This was a really fun game to play! Awesome job on the graphics and audio, very impressive. Simple idea yet it works very well. Really great job!
All aspects of the game are really well done. Good job!
@handle The main boss can't be damaged till the tentacles are dead. We were supposed to create a graphic for that but forgot and ran out of time.
@trozen The trick is to let the tentacles attack first, then attack them when they are stationary.
@johnnydalvi The original design had a whole stage along with some story elements, but due to lack of time we had to trim it down to basically 2 rooms. We ended up focusing on the boss with the little time we had left. The boss is very beatable but really isn't conveyed clearly.
@kovakomes Very weird, I haven't seen that glitch D=.
@Wekaj I think I got really good at dashing from just testing, so when I created the path I made it too hard.
@lefinno and @kovakomes I need more information to fix it. It works fine for most people, maybe try a different browser. (I think firefox is worst)
The problem could be your pcs aren't capable of running it and are experiencing by products of lag. The images in the game a quite large because everything was designed with higher resolutions in mind.
@troligtvis Haha, that crosshair graphic wasn't supposed to be visible (It's the graphic that camera is tied to).
Fun, I enjoyed the random mutterings from the little old man. Great job!
Interesting concept! It was pretty fun to play, the music was enjoyable. Took a bit to get used to the controls but overall fun to play!
Pretty interesting to play. I felt like a dumbass though at the end, the ending line really sold it. Good job!
This game has a lot of personality to it. I love the music!
Great idea! It was really easy at first but then the difficulty ramped up to a level I was not expecting. Great job!
Awesome, I really enjoyed this! The music was really well done so bravo. It was a little difficult (or maybe I just have no rhythm) but it was really fun.
This game was a lot of fun. This was a really awesome utilization of the theme and it kept me occupied for quite a while. Really well done!
This was a pretty interesting game to play. Loved the music. It was pretty fun, and I liked the random events thrown in there too. Good job!
This is a very well-done game. Nicely executed and a great idea, also. The voice acting was done really well and sounded pretty genuine. Ending was good, and honestly I would not mind seeing more games in this style.
This was a really fun game. Really enjoyed playing this. The audio is top-notch and I quite liked the art/setting for it as well. I loved the weird babbling sounds for talking too, made me laugh.
A neat little game and nice take on the theme. Very well done, it was a lot of fun.
This was such a fun game! I love puzzle games and this was quite fun to play and figure out. I really enjoyed it and the sounds were extremely well done, really sounded like I was walking around in a vault haha. (idk I've never actually done that.) Great job! I'd love to see more of this!
Not a bad game! Enjoyed the music. Good job!
Pretty cool take on the theme, the music was really awesome too. It did get a little repetitive but not bad.
This was really well done! It kept me entertained for quite a while! I "died" embarrassingly fast at first but the second go around I got really far. The writing was fantastic and each event was intriguing. This was very nicely put together and I would love to see more games like this.
Interesting game, pretty weird but fun! I like the bent streetlamp, that seems kind of random but funny. I like the maze too, pretty cool.
@freso and @beritens You're right, ahh! I originally had it at where the small enemies only gave you a dollar when killed, but I changed it to 2 and didn't balance it correctly. I did that so that you can accumulate money faster to unlock the gun faster and at the beginning you had a good chance of running out of ammo. The idea was that you had to upgrade the enemies in order to afford the upgrade before getting overrun. Currently you can beat it without upgrading the enemies. I don't know if counts as game breaking but that's something that I'd like to fix.
Another thing I think I'd redo is to grey out the upgrades icon instead of hiding it so people know that they exist (a big silly oversight).
@namnam Thanks a lot! We appreciate it :)
@pestodesign Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm glad you had fun with it. We really didn't have much time to do a lot of testing on it so it's a little more broken than I'd like but thank you for your feedback!
@janik-h Thank you! :)
@omickron Thanks for your feedback! Happy to hear you enjoyed it at least a little :)
@chaos Wow thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you had so much fun with it! Yeah some things should have been made more obvious to the player, such as reloading your gun when you run out of ammo (as it happens fairly quickly) but I'm happy you were able to figure it out in the end. We may do so! Not sure yet but thank you!
Man this was a great game! The audio was on-point, catchy music and very excitable. I really enjoyed it! The collision detection was a bit frustrating as I'd get caught on random things all the time when trying to drive/navigate to the arrow. But otherwise it was a lot of fun! I really liked the look of the menu too. Great job!
This was really fun to play! It definitely gave me a chuckle. Great job!
Very interesting game. I liked exploring the different options and there were enough to make this a pretty cool experience. Audio was well done, overall nice game.
This was a great game! I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun. I liked how many different things there were. really great idea and well implemented!
Audio was pretty great for this one! I liked the voice acting, especially when almost getting caught by the policemen. It was a little difficult if only because there were a lot of cops and even when I didn't steal anything the cop would still "catch" me. It was still really cool! Good job.
Very fun game! I actually played through it a few times.
Must agree with all the other comments its a very cute game! I really loved the sound direction of this entry. Overall relaxing and thought-out.
One minor suggestion: Having the text slide in from the opposite direction. It would feel more natural because people read from left to right. Other than that not a bad entry! Solid sound design.
To be fair it says keep shooting where everyone seems to be getting stuck. I think the miscommunication happens because the first time you shoot an hourglasses it spawns you to that location, so most people probably expected to keep spawning to that location if they keep shooting the hourglasses.
Your entry still checks all the right boxes. -Super polished in almost all aspects -Good level design -Music that pulls on the heart strings -Soft magical sound effects -Puzzles simple enough not to be annoying -Classic use of theme -(Bonus)Great narrative
I played though it like 3-4 times.
Nah I feel like your approach was correct. Telling the player like that would of worked better, but probably isn't the best solution. Then again I can't really think of anything better than the level that you made without being to heavy handed. Example: A hallway with a hourglass in the center and not enough time to make it out. If you take away the vertical aspect of that room maybe it would read better? I really don't know that's a tough one. I totally get what you are going for though.
Awesome game. I bet all of LD can relate.
@ismael-rodriguez There is an anti-climatic end to the game, but basically we only had time to make the worm slug things. We had bigger plans for the NPC which is hinted at the end of the game. You'll know if you are going in the right direction if his dialog changes. Basically you pretty much summed it up though. Thanks for the feed back!
@anant-ahuja Yeah there is no sound! That first player was confused. I just addressed it in a edit to the description. Thanks for the feedback!
I love the art style. Perfect mood and sound design.
Awesome entry! Everyone who doesn't have headphones is really missing out perfect sound design! It takes a really long time to load but when it does you aren't disappointed. If you have trouble loading try refreshing the page worked for me.
Really cool!
Very cute game!
I love the narrative! The music fit perfect.
Solid entry! Not much more I can say that hasn't been said. I feel like it's strong enough to stand on it own outside of LD. You should really consider expanding this concept.
Amazing! This has to be one of the top entries for sure.
Breaking the game down into 2 phases like you did works! I was wondering what happened when I collected all the packages, and was greeted with a awesome little driving delivery game. Good job!
I don't really see it as a management game, to be honest. Also, I think there might be a bug with the upgrades, as they don't seem to have much effect. In fact, I was able to beat the game by simply spamming the "buy contracts" and "buy pigeons" buttons. I only had to buy food once and didn't need any other upgrades. Just thought I'd let you know.
The music was pretty good.
Broken.PNG
@paulhocker I feel ya. I think the upgrades not working correctly counts as game breaking in your case. You should be able to fix them assuming you're not adding new ones. If you want to.
I feel balancing for Ludum Dare is impossible, as some people want to play casual games while others like challenging nearly impossible to beat games.
I'd like to share my perspective on the other comments. Although it's possible that improving pathfinding or adding WASD controls could be considered in the future, the game seems to be functioning well as it is. The game's main objective is to progress through the story by buying and selling, which it accomplishes admirably. I think what you focused on was a good use of your time.
I particularly enjoy the gradual unlocking of new seeds for purchase, and it feels like the game's economic balance is well-executed as I never struggled with money or felt like it would take too long to purchase a new plant. Overall, it's been a lot of fun for me!
Really cool! I love the mix of 2d and 3d. The controls are spot on for the design. It was intuitive and fun. I haven't seen a game like this before.
Great entry! I didn't care for the running part of the game. Awesome story elements. I was able to break the game by jumping the fences at the top of the map, which was fun for me to see part that I wasn't supposed to see.
Nice game! Great puzzles. My only grip and it's minor, is that it's not colorblind friendly at least for people with deuteranopia, but I wouldn't expect someone to design with that in mind. Overall a good entry.
This was truly innovative! I didn't expect to see AI in games yet (beside art generation) especially in LD. Everything in the game was polished and as you would expect. You can tell your team is really skillful. Great entry!
Great job on the entry! The visuals and gameplay mechanics are really impressive and perfectly fit the theme. Keep up the good work!
Awesomely cute game! I was really expecting to take damage from the cats or get a game over. I love that it subverts expectation. The audio matches the game perfectly.
Wow, I have to say this game is absolutely fantastic! It's so much fun and each level presents new and exciting challenges to tackle. The creativity behind each level design is truly impressive! And don't even get me started on the stunning art - it's just gorgeous!
The audio cues a for how many pizzas you have left was perfect! The driving in the game was hard but really fun. Great job on the game.
Cool idea. I Love the background graphics.
@red-dino and @ha-kuro I think I fixed it? Thanks for letting me know.
First update!
**I also noticed that if your mouse if set low sensitivity the game becomes pretty much unplayable. I'm not really sure if there is a fix for that.**
@blo - Added a zoom with middle mouse in version 1.1
@paulhocker - Added a move with right click option in version 1.1
@pralista - Added a label to the post office and started the camera on the post office in version 1.1
@helen The game I was aiming to make is stressful. Sorry I know it's probably not your cup of tea. Thanks for playing and the feed back.
@argaf Sorry you had trouble the playing! The reason why you couldn't find where to buy and sell is because it's poorly communicated that you start with no money. You must do postal jobs to earn enough to buy other items to deliver. I hope that I can convince you to give it another chance with that information in mind and version 1.1 now has a zoom with middle mouse. If not thanks for the feedback and playing.
Thanks for your feedback and help to make the game even better than what it was.
@beebster-games I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy it!
My goal was to create a fast-paced gameplay experience, and moving the camera around the map is the quickest way to achieve that. I aimed to make a challenging tycoon-style game that focuses on management skills rather than movement skills. Even if I had included a player character, the game would have still been quite tedious, just slower. Plus, adding a player sprite would have required extra time and complexities, without adding much to the game without fundamentally changing it.
I hope this explanation helps you understand my thought process better. Thanks for playing and the feedback.
@mpk90 Added WASD controls in the newest update.
Thanks for the feedback and helping make my game better. I really do appreciate it.
@epicgamefan Thanks for playing! It makes me happy that you gave the updated version a chance, and the work isn't for nothing. I'm still struggling to find a balance to the game. I want to make it hard but not so hard the upgrades are unachievable, or the game feel like it outpaces you.
I want to re-release it after the jam on newgrounds to see how much of the feedback from others had improved it.
Thanks for the feedback.
@mpk90 Thank you so much for giving it another chance. You rock!
@farfadet46 I don't know why that happened?? I added a quit menu on Esc in version 1.4, just in case it happens to others. Thank you for letting me know.
@deadbydeath Thank you for playing and such a heart warming comment. I really do appreciate that you played the new version as I'm not sure how many people it's reaching and if it's even worth it. This gives me hope.
@blotosaur Thank you for letting me know how the progression was for you! I was most interested in how that part of the game plays for others. I need to work out a better balance as the whole game should feel challenging, but not grindy. Right now the I feel like it's exactly how you put grindy then super easy.
@vivyhasadream I definitely needed to give the player more feedback on which buildings a clickable and what you need to progress. Sorry for the game's poor communication in that department.
Thanks you all once again for giving me feedback and helping the game get better!
Wow, what an awesome entry! I must admit, I started off a bit slow, but once things started heating up, I was hooked and kept on my toes the entire time. The game idea is absolutely fantastic! I think there's so much potential here, and with a few more features and some additional polish, this game could become something.
One of the best entries I've played so far! Solid game design with innovative game mechanics. You guys did a great job on teaching the player. At first I didn't know how to control the stage moving around, but as I was playing through each room/puzzle it became apparent how everything works and what I needed to do to control it.
This one is my favorite entry, because of how clever the design is.
Nice simple cute game. Love it!
I played your game and I must say, it's both challenging and fun! It did take me a little while to get used to the shot speed of the enemies, but once I did, it became even more engaging. I also really enjoyed the song you chose for the game - it fit perfectly with the gameplay and added to the overall experience. Great job!
I'm sorry to say that locking the camera's rotation to the vehicle's rotation caused me to experience motion sickness. Even the slight tilting of the camera when turning made me feel like I was on a rocking boat, and hitting the edge of the road caused the camera to spin uncontrollably. Additionally, if you accidentally fall off the road, the truck becomes stuck.
After giving it a bit little time and coming back to give it another go. I think this game fits the theme well and is the speed of the truck and the controls are fun. Once I seen that there is restart button it really helps with overall experience of the game as when the camera gets too crazy I can hit the R. I think there can be something here with a bit of work.
If you expand on the idea I would really like to see how it turns out! Great job, you're really skilled for not much experience in 3d for sure.
Great job! This was a really fun to play. It's satisfying planning and building tracks. Overall a very solid game.
Simple yet fun. The game is quite hard. Great job on the game.
Fun but very challenging. Awesome game!
Super cute!
Pretty cool, although pretty short. Unique idea for the theme, good work.
The ending is awesome! I did not see that coming.
From my experience playing the game, I found that the gameplay felt a bit unintentional and the objective was somewhat confusing. At first, I was a bit perplexed as I seemed to be getting hit by explosions left and right, which made me think the game might have been bugged. However, after taking a step back and reading more about what was going on, I eventually figured out what was happening.
One thing that could be improved in the game is making the mines more easily identifiable, either through a visual or auditory cue, so that players can avoid them more easily. As it stands, it feels like the game is punishing players for exploring, which can be a bit frustrating. I was able to beat it and the defeating of enemies to level the attack was intriguing.
Overall though, I think with a few tweaks here and there, the game has a lot of potential!
Graphics are truly stunning and the dark, moody atmosphere really adds to the overall vibe.
I gotta say, some of those levels were pretty tough! But, I really appreciate the skip button you added, it definitely came in handy. That being said, when I did manage to figure out how to beat a level, it was such a great feeling of accomplishment. Thanks for creating such an engaging game!
Fun for how simple it is.
I played your game and I just wanted to say that it's really fun! The flying dynamic can be a bit tricky to master, what with the momentum and all, but it adds a lot to the game and makes it even more enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
Solid entry! Simple yet effective!
The link is broken.
I gave it a play and love the concept! A very fun game with lots of humor.
I love the big rat graphic and the song .
Funny, cute, simple and effective. Great game!
Impressive! You were able to accomplish a substantial amount of work in such a short period of time. Congratulations on your entry, it's certainly something to be proud of. I particularly enjoyed the art direction - it's playful and engaging.
The way you gather and shoot items reminds me of Slime Rancher.
While I didn't really see the "Delivery" theme present in the game, I must say that the mood and art-style are both fantastic! The combination of a typing game and a dating sim is a really unique idea and I enjoyed it a lot. Great job on creating something so engaging and visually appealing!
I love the hand drawn look. The chicken's design and animations are super cute.
Fun, simple, and very polished. Outstanding entry.
The map is huge! Great work in such a short amount of time.
