LD28 — You Only Get One

Juggle by Wekaj 2013-12-16T06:26:00

I am not too sure about why the game would be crashing when you select a level, have you tried both versions of the game? I'm not very experienced with XNA or C# yet, sorry :(. Thank you for the feedback, everyone!

Juggle by Wekaj 2013-12-16T08:04:00

Apparently the ClickOnce version should install the required versions of .NET and XNA if you run the setup.exe. Have you extracted the .zip containing the setup.exe and Juggle.application before running them? If so, I honestly don't have a clue, sorry :(.

Juggle by Wekaj 2013-12-16T09:03:00

I had a look around for similar issues and it could be that you don't have Windows Media Player enabled?

"Control Panel \ Programs \ Programs and Features \ Turn windows features on or off \ Media Features \ Windows Media Player"

Juggle by Wekaj 2013-12-18T09:10:00

What happened when you tried to run the game, and which version/s of it did you try?

Juggle by Wekaj 2013-12-18T10:45:00

Someone above had the same issue, and enabling Windows Media Player fixed it:

"Control Panel \ Programs \ Programs and Features \ Turn windows features on or off \ Media Features \ Windows Media Player"

Hopefully that works :)!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Socketbound by Wekaj 2017-07-31T12:58:07Z

Damn, did it really? I have no idea what could have caused that, though I'm looking now. I probably should have included some sort of error message logging...

Socketbound by Wekaj 2017-07-31T13:15:07Z

Hey, I can't find what could be causing the problem, so I've made the application spit out a log file when it crashes. If you wouldn't mind, could you run the application again and send me the log file? Thanks very much for pointing the error out!

Socketbound by Wekaj 2017-07-31T21:12:39Z

@gurvan would you be able to email the log.txt file that appears after the crash to me? Thanks!

Jumping Jehosaphat by jharler 2017-07-31T11:48:21Z

Hey, I tried running your game, but it seemed to crash instantly. I have the log file if you need it.

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-01T06:30:34Z

Neat game! I reckon that different socket types would have been cool, i.e. sockets that move and require you to chase after them or sockets that give you different weapon types/effects.

The forgotten mission by stoffe 2017-08-01T06:47:35Z

Interesting game, the dialogue was a cool touch! (though the robot is pretty oblivious :P) It would be helpful if there was more visual or audio feedback for when you take damage.

Delivery Drain by Thorneto 2017-08-01T06:42:06Z

Neat game, the memory aspect makes it interesting!

Shadow Crawl by Connor Hagan 2017-08-01T07:26:22Z

Nice game, I liked the creepy atmosphere. The laughing... things... were very unsettling.

DRAIN by LERPish 2017-08-04T23:02:17Z

Nice game, I liked the graphics! I think it would have felt a bit better to play if you could rotate the camera in the other direction, and maybe even added strafing, but otherwise, cool submission.

LD42 — Running out of space

The Dome by Lintfordpickle 2018-08-13T12:36:36Z

Hey, I wanted to try your game, but it appears that the link doesn't lead anywhere!

BoilerMan by Wekaj 2018-08-14T04:23:23Z

Thank you for all the feedback so far! I agree that the game is quite vague and confusing, I realised I wouldn't have enough time to make a good tutorial so I decided to play into the idea that it is up to the player to figure out what to do. I just added somewhat cryptic instructions to the menu and made the starting difficulty quite low so that you have plenty of time to fiddle around with the available tools. Probably not the best idea for a Ludum Dare game, better tutorialisation would have been ideal.

@wolfrug Haha, thanks. It's about time right.

@jsmcag @mrserp Thanks! I do love Spirited Away's style.

@frostbyte4k @zchangvx I'm glad you enjoyed working out how to play, that makes me happy!

BoilerMan by Wekaj 2018-08-14T22:49:13Z

@frostbyte4k @dongle @mathiouza @joshua-w Thank you! Yeah, the difficulty could definitely do with some tuning. I am considering extending the game a bit and making a separate, more polished version. If I do, I will definitely take that into account. I'm glad you appreciate the cryptic-ness and figuring out the game, I will still try to include some aspect of that if I do go on with the more polished version.

BoilerMan by Wekaj 2018-08-14T23:10:40Z

@frostbyte4k Haha, will do!

Growing Out by superpokeunicorn 2018-08-13T23:17:31Z

I really like this entry, nice work! The way your perspective of the level changes as you grow is very cool.

Box Co.® - Monster Storage by Tyler Funk 2018-08-14T03:07:45Z

Cool idea, it's like a more dynamic sokoban. The art style is cute too.

Rusted Robots by benjamin-l 2018-08-14T04:03:08Z

Awesome work, I like it a lot! It's cool how you have to force yourself to play the tetris game faster to shoot the robots in time. The art and animations are very stylish too, I especially like the losing animation when a robot touches you.

Typewriter by boddiul 2018-08-14T00:07:12Z

Awesome work, I love it! The presentation is perfect and I love all the creative hazards you came up with. So cool.

AQUATIC SUBGAL by neontropics 2018-08-13T23:23:01Z

Cool game! I found it pretty difficult, but I'm also quite impatient and tended to charge in and bounce around all over the place.

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-14T23:05:32Z

Nice work, I love this idea! The way the window actually shrinks and responds to your attacks is so cool.

Re: Growth by frostByte4k 2018-08-14T03:00:10Z

Cool idea, I liked the process of carving out your own unique playing space per run! The ability to uncover special tiles from within the virus could have been an interesting feature.

BulletMan by Grewoss 2018-08-13T00:20:13Z

Nice work, the bullets-becoming-obstacles mechanic is really cool! It forces you to be more careful about how you shoot, I like it.

Binary Odyssey by Falk Bruskeland 2018-08-13T11:27:35Z

Nice work! The art style was cool, and I like how you used the computer account name in the intro. I do admit I thought it was a strange coincidence for a few seconds...

Space Invader - File Explorer Edition by MadreDeDios 2018-08-15T02:01:58Z

Haha, awesome work recreating Windows 10, I love it! I did not feel comfortable having those file names on my screen when I was playing this in public though...

Break by starhacker 2018-08-15T01:46:29Z

Cool idea! It was very hard to shoot the enemies though.

Crumbling Dungeon by JSMCAG 2018-08-13T12:02:37Z

Nice work, I really like this idea! It is very difficult though, especially since you have to restart if you make one small mistake.

Arc by machrom 2018-08-13T11:47:08Z

Interesting game! I liked the general mood, and the intro was cool, but the gameplay seemed pretty easy once I worked out which components were needed for each event.

Beach Time by Stephano 2018-08-13T11:14:06Z

I like the visual style, very consistent and cute.

A Fight on the Waves by MarkoPoloDev 2018-08-15T01:01:51Z

Nice work, dashing across islands was fun, although I didn't like that you had to do the tutorial again whenever you died.

Fruit Shack Frenzy by CosmicCrystalGames 2018-08-15T00:55:45Z

Nice work, the art style is cute.

Sky Dare by zchangvx 2018-08-14T03:21:08Z

Nice work, climbing into the sky with that music playing felt pretty epic! The mechanic of your health being tied to the platform size was cool.

Weapon Warehouse by ConnorThompson 2018-08-13T12:24:24Z

Nice work, it could maybe have done with a little more variation in the mechanics, but I like the art style, especially the orc. His animations are great!

Ice Blocked by Nerobius 2018-08-14T23:19:51Z

Nice work, the graphics are really good! I think the difficulty could have been tuned a little higher however, it got a bit repetitive after a while.

BulletJam by C.Even 2018-08-14T00:20:26Z

Cool idea! I liked the boss's entrance and attacks.

ShortServe by G4MR 2018-08-14T03:47:06Z

Nice work! I found the game pretty tough because I could rarely find the foods I needed from the orders, but the music was great.

Soggy Bunny by rexpeppers 2018-08-15T01:42:07Z

Nice little puzzle game! I do not like soggy bunnies, but I like Soggy Bunny.

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-13T23:30:50Z

Nice work! I loved the intro, although the gameplay was a little repetitive.

Space-Stricken Love by bigda 2018-08-15T01:36:44Z

Cool game, platforming upside down was very confusing! Unfortunately the giant death laser brought a swift end to any of my good attempts.

Temple Trap - The Game! by Jasper Hansen 2018-08-13T00:12:04Z

Cool idea! The player movement and wall shifting felt smooth and polished, but the walls were kind of hard to make out and bats were really annoying to chase down!

Pool Watch by Plukers 2018-08-15T01:55:32Z

Fun game, I enjoyed it! I don't know what's with all these people who would jump into a pool filled with dead bodies though!

Devil Warship Makujin by Ceuteum 2018-08-14T03:34:05Z

I tried to start the game but no buttons seem to work? Not the start button on my controller, not the enter key, nothing.

Devil Warship Makujin by Ceuteum 2018-08-14T03:56:19Z

Ah right, thanks! I tried your game out and I like the art style a lot! I agree that the ship controls were a little difficult to use, making it hard to aim at enemies. The different weapon types were cool. Nice work.

Void Eater by Dongle 2018-08-14T03:29:33Z

I love the art and animations, the game looks great! The dashes at the start took a while to get right, and having to pull the sword out each time got old, but thankfully there was a checkpoint at the boss. The boss fight was fun, I liked how the character controlled.

ZombieEnclosure by bovandenberg 2018-08-13T10:28:15Z

Nice work! I especially liked the post-it note menus, stylish.

A blob with a destination - LD42 by Dries Vuylsteke 2018-08-13T12:17:32Z

Nice work, I like this submission a lot! The levels ramp up nicely and once you start chaining mechanics together, it feels very fun.

Garbage Disk by Tenik 2018-08-14T00:27:35Z

Neat presentation! It started off slow, but the difficulty seemed to severely ramp up as time passed.

Elevator Maximum by happyhour 2018-08-15T00:51:43Z

Nice game, I really liked the art and animations! Stylish.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Curse of Volgax by Wekaj 2019-05-01T23:55:59Z

Thank you for all the feedback so far!

@minibobbo Thanks so much for the detailed feedback, I agree with all of your issues. I wasn't able to balance the game very well before the deadline but making the sword stronger/have a longer reach would have been a simple yet effective change for sure. The ability to get trapped in levels is definitely not intended, just me being silly with the level chunk designs. I'm glad you liked the cursing part!

@duke Thank you too for your detailed feedback. I definitely agree with you on the sword swings not having enough impact, I would have liked to have added knockback to the player's attacks but the dumb way I implemented enemy physics would have made it a bit of a pain. The upgrade system could have done with a lot of balancing improvements too, I found myself skipping upgrades in most of my testing to win the game and I'm its creator!

I've been working on an improved version of the game and this feedback is very helpful. If the improved edition goes anywhere I'll post back on this page.

Heart Knight by mutt 2019-05-01T06:24:49Z

Cool game! I had fun exploring around your levels.

Blood Cards by wrimo 2019-05-01T01:26:49Z

Cool game, the UI was a little confusing at first but it didn't take long to understand. I found it very difficult!

Wu-Wei by luckyDaisy 2019-05-01T06:36:43Z

Cool game, there were some creative levels! It took me way too long to work out what to do on the long fading block path one :P If I would change anything, it would probably be those super unforgiving spike hitboxes.

Arrow of Light by sylvie 2019-05-01T01:02:40Z

Really cool game! I made it through the mines but only had 65 health at the 66 health reaper so I must have missed a flower or something. I loved the music.

UFO Fishing by pvp 2019-05-01T02:03:00Z

Great work! I found the game really difficult, so I couldn't make much progress. Losing 10 sushi for just one hit is brutal! I liked the art style and effects.

Glory of the Gods by vladirien 2019-05-01T01:36:57Z

Nice work! The dashing felt really good. If you don't only get the fame items you are a COWARD.

Chess Adventure by MoonLens 2019-05-01T01:08:23Z

Cool game! Elementals are OP.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Commander by Wekaj 2019-10-08T23:45:36Z

@kbzealous Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I had an idea for a game where you control squads like this a while ago so it was fun to be able to try it out here, even if it's not as complete as I'd like it to be.

Greying out the parts of the map you have already seen is a great idea. If I do anything more with this game idea, that'll be one of the first additional features I implement.

Commander by Wekaj 2019-10-16T00:15:26Z

Wow, thanks for all the feedback!

@dob @dxk2294 I'm glad you enjoyed it! The mega-squad tactic seems to be very effective, which is not quite what I wanted, but oh well! There definitely could have been better incentives to use multiple squads.

@chaosed0 Some good points, thank you. Being able to move squads around together is a great idea, I could imagine it being convenient for travelling large distances. The stats could have done with an in-game description (Resistance was for defense against magic damage, you are right about Accuracy.)

@cdunham I did have enemy health bars enabled at one point but I thought it made the battles look too cluttered. Maybe it could have worked, though! Displaying the individual stats for each squad is for sure something I would have liked to have implemented.

Thanks again!

MeebÜ WeebÜ by saucygames 2019-10-15T04:30:29Z

Cool game! The art style was really cute. I got stuck because the game was telling me to find the hat when I was already wearing it, but at least I still got to do some fishing in the pond of tears.

Hungry Hungry Spiders by bendmorris 2019-10-15T04:16:03Z

Neat game, nice work making a multiplayer submission! Unfortunately there was only me and one other humongous spider, but I can see it being more fun with lots of people.

Lost Soul by d3garcia 2019-10-15T05:26:46Z

Cute little game! The evil pumpkin's sprite was very well done.

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-15T04:42:35Z

Wow, cool game! The sudden change in mood when you unleash your plague upon the masses is great.

Bird game by KBZealous 2019-10-15T04:08:15Z

Cool little game! Breaking out of the egg was a neat way to start.

I found the flappy bird part really hard too. Maybe it would have been better if the hitboxes on the terrain and cat paws were a bit more forgiving?

LD46 — Keep it alive

Torchkick by Wekaj 2020-04-20T09:14:46Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far!

@slimabob A 1v1 multiplayer game is a great idea. I might consider attempting this... Thinking about it more, Lethal League is in the same vein, isn't it.

@jerripo I haven't played An Untitled Story but I do see what you mean! Yeah being able to dash while immobile probably should have been a feature.

Torchkick by Wekaj 2020-04-22T09:50:19Z

@jakobthequizguy Hahaha, I'm glad someone found that ;) Yeah it does seem like once again I've not tuned the difficulty very well. The freezer part 2 is where it goes a bit overboard, I would definitely lower the wind strength in hindsight, amongst other things. Thanks for the kind words!

Torchkick by Wekaj 2020-05-11T09:36:40Z

@jupiter-hadley Thanks for checking it out!

You can shoot! by adjo 2020-04-20T07:47:24Z

Nice work! If I had to change one thing I would probably make the player controls a little less floaty.

Guardian Lich by svntax 2020-04-22T08:19:49Z

Neat game! I really liked the projectile deflecting mechanic too. I feel like the game just needs a better sense of progression, but nice work overall.

PIZZA was plentiful and nothing hurt by niklasriewald 2020-04-23T09:32:39Z

Nice work, I really liked the unique falling platform mechanic. The music and weirdness gave the game a kind of dreamy feeling too which I liked. I think there is potential here! If I could change one thing, I would probably make the player jump automatically, as I found myself holding the jump button down the whole time anyways.

Pug Panic by Alex Davies 2020-04-22T09:12:36Z

This was great! I think your game is my favourite take on the theme yet. I love the amount of stress it generates. The spammed pop-ups were definitely the hardest thing for me to deal with.

Lights On by henriquecanella 2020-04-22T09:42:18Z

Cool game, I thought the graphics were nice. I did think the time taken to fix a power source felt a little too long, and the camera was a bit buggy for me, but good work otherwise :)

Ponk and Sheeply by jerripo 2020-04-23T09:06:02Z

I had a lot of fun with this one! It was on the challenging side, the wolf level and the thin path level in particular. I like how you innovated on the mini-golf formula by having the putter have to reach the goal too, you could do some interesting things with that idea.

Forest Guardian by JakobTheQuizGuy 2020-04-20T08:26:35Z

Nice work, I liked the graphics! The controls felt good too.

Ignited by The Blue Hatted 2020-04-20T04:25:29Z

Nice work making a multiplayer game! I reckon a way to see the status of your fire when it is off the screen would be helpful.

Crumbling Home by Becher 2020-04-20T08:09:25Z

Wow, I love how everything looks, great work on the graphics! Climbing on the robot as it walks around is a very cool concept. The intro/tutorial screen was great too. One small feature I would have liked is the ability to control the player with the arrow keys.

By the way, I think I found a bug where I couldn't repair the room on the back of the robot.

It Lives by Sbug 2020-04-22T10:44:17Z

Wow I loved this one! The art style and mood was great. A good commentary on parenthood too.

Rhythm Rifles by BlakeGameDev 2020-04-20T07:21:58Z

Nice game, it looks and feels really good to play. Strong Crypt of the Necrodancer vibes!

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-20T07:36:11Z

Neat game, I liked the art! It does feel like something is missing, some sort of player progression would help I think.

Postcard Ninja by CarlOfAllTrades 2020-04-23T08:41:39Z

Unique art style, I liked it! Flinging the character around was quite fun, I can see how you could get skilled at perfectly maneuvering it. It did take me a bit to grasp the cube targeting, I was expecting the cube closest to my mouse to be targeted instead of the one closest to the character. Nice work overall.

Keep My Keep Alive by Thooom 2020-04-20T07:59:11Z

Nice game, I like the art a lot! I think some feedback when you type a correct letter would be nice, I found it a little confusing when there where multiple of the same letter in a row.

Extraterrestrial Dinosaur Savior by Trace 2020-04-22T07:56:28Z

Nice work, the game felt very polished. I liked the music a lot, it sounded like it was straight out of a Final Fantasy game!

INFLAME;Z by wareya 2020-04-22T08:31:24Z

Nice work, the torch checkpoint mechanic was a great idea! I did find the start of the second level a little unforgiving, with the tight water jumps and the spike that kept trapping me. Great game though, the graphics were nice too.
