Damn, did it really? I have no idea what could have caused that, though I'm looking now. I probably should have included some sort of error message logging...
Hey, I can't find what could be causing the problem, so I've made the application spit out a log file when it crashes. If you wouldn't mind, could you run the application again and send me the log file? Thanks very much for pointing the error out!
@gurvan would you be able to email the log.txt file that appears after the crash to me? Thanks!
Hey, I tried running your game, but it seemed to crash instantly. I have the log file if you need it.
Interesting game, the dialogue was a cool touch! (though the robot is pretty oblivious :P) It would be helpful if there was more visual or audio feedback for when you take damage.
Neat game, the memory aspect makes it interesting!
Nice game, I liked the creepy atmosphere. The laughing... things... were very unsettling.
Hey, I wanted to try your game, but it appears that the link doesn't lead anywhere!
Thank you for all the feedback so far! I agree that the game is quite vague and confusing, I realised I wouldn't have enough time to make a good tutorial so I decided to play into the idea that it is up to the player to figure out what to do. I just added somewhat cryptic instructions to the menu and made the starting difficulty quite low so that you have plenty of time to fiddle around with the available tools. Probably not the best idea for a Ludum Dare game, better tutorialisation would have been ideal.
@wolfrug Haha, thanks. It's about time right.
@jsmcag @mrserp Thanks! I do love Spirited Away's style.
@frostbyte4k @zchangvx I'm glad you enjoyed working out how to play, that makes me happy!
@frostbyte4k @dongle @mathiouza @joshua-w Thank you! Yeah, the difficulty could definitely do with some tuning. I am considering extending the game a bit and making a separate, more polished version. If I do, I will definitely take that into account. I'm glad you appreciate the cryptic-ness and figuring out the game, I will still try to include some aspect of that if I do go on with the more polished version.
I really like this entry, nice work! The way your perspective of the level changes as you grow is very cool.
Cool idea, it's like a more dynamic sokoban. The art style is cute too.
Awesome work, I like it a lot! It's cool how you have to force yourself to play the tetris game faster to shoot the robots in time. The art and animations are very stylish too, I especially like the losing animation when a robot touches you.
Awesome work, I love it! The presentation is perfect and I love all the creative hazards you came up with. So cool.
Cool game! I found it pretty difficult, but I'm also quite impatient and tended to charge in and bounce around all over the place.
Nice work, I love this idea! The way the window actually shrinks and responds to your attacks is so cool.
Cool idea, I liked the process of carving out your own unique playing space per run! The ability to uncover special tiles from within the virus could have been an interesting feature.
Nice work! The art style was cool, and I like how you used the computer account name in the intro. I do admit I thought it was a strange coincidence for a few seconds...
Haha, awesome work recreating Windows 10, I love it! I did not feel comfortable having those file names on my screen when I was playing this in public though...
Cool idea! It was very hard to shoot the enemies though.
Nice work, I really like this idea! It is very difficult though, especially since you have to restart if you make one small mistake.
I like the visual style, very consistent and cute.
Nice work, dashing across islands was fun, although I didn't like that you had to do the tutorial again whenever you died.
Nice work, the art style is cute.
Nice work, it could maybe have done with a little more variation in the mechanics, but I like the art style, especially the orc. His animations are great!
Nice work, the graphics are really good! I think the difficulty could have been tuned a little higher however, it got a bit repetitive after a while.
Nice work! I found the game pretty tough because I could rarely find the foods I needed from the orders, but the music was great.
Nice little puzzle game! I do not like soggy bunnies, but I like Soggy Bunny.
Nice work! I loved the intro, although the gameplay was a little repetitive.
Cool game, platforming upside down was very confusing! Unfortunately the giant death laser brought a swift end to any of my good attempts.
Cool idea! The player movement and wall shifting felt smooth and polished, but the walls were kind of hard to make out and bats were really annoying to chase down!
Fun game, I enjoyed it! I don't know what's with all these people who would jump into a pool filled with dead bodies though!
I tried to start the game but no buttons seem to work? Not the start button on my controller, not the enter key, nothing.
Ah right, thanks! I tried your game out and I like the art style a lot! I agree that the ship controls were a little difficult to use, making it hard to aim at enemies. The different weapon types were cool. Nice work.
I love the art and animations, the game looks great! The dashes at the start took a while to get right, and having to pull the sword out each time got old, but thankfully there was a checkpoint at the boss. The boss fight was fun, I liked how the character controlled.
Nice work! I especially liked the post-it note menus, stylish.
Nice work, I like this submission a lot! The levels ramp up nicely and once you start chaining mechanics together, it feels very fun.
Neat presentation! It started off slow, but the difficulty seemed to severely ramp up as time passed.
Nice game, I really liked the art and animations! Stylish.
Thank you for all the feedback so far!
@minibobbo Thanks so much for the detailed feedback, I agree with all of your issues. I wasn't able to balance the game very well before the deadline but making the sword stronger/have a longer reach would have been a simple yet effective change for sure. The ability to get trapped in levels is definitely not intended, just me being silly with the level chunk designs. I'm glad you liked the cursing part!
@duke Thank you too for your detailed feedback. I definitely agree with you on the sword swings not having enough impact, I would have liked to have added knockback to the player's attacks but the dumb way I implemented enemy physics would have made it a bit of a pain. The upgrade system could have done with a lot of balancing improvements too, I found myself skipping upgrades in most of my testing to win the game and I'm its creator!
I've been working on an improved version of the game and this feedback is very helpful. If the improved edition goes anywhere I'll post back on this page.
Cool game! I had fun exploring around your levels.
Cool game, the UI was a little confusing at first but it didn't take long to understand. I found it very difficult!
Cool game, there were some creative levels! It took me way too long to work out what to do on the long fading block path one :P If I would change anything, it would probably be those super unforgiving spike hitboxes.
Really cool game! I made it through the mines but only had 65 health at the 66 health reaper so I must have missed a flower or something. I loved the music.
Great work! I found the game really difficult, so I couldn't make much progress. Losing 10 sushi for just one hit is brutal! I liked the art style and effects.
Nice work! The dashing felt really good. If you don't only get the fame items you are a COWARD.
Cool game! Elementals are OP.
@kbzealous Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I had an idea for a game where you control squads like this a while ago so it was fun to be able to try it out here, even if it's not as complete as I'd like it to be.
Greying out the parts of the map you have already seen is a great idea. If I do anything more with this game idea, that'll be one of the first additional features I implement.
Wow, thanks for all the feedback!
@dob @dxk2294 I'm glad you enjoyed it! The mega-squad tactic seems to be very effective, which is not quite what I wanted, but oh well! There definitely could have been better incentives to use multiple squads.
@chaosed0 Some good points, thank you. Being able to move squads around together is a great idea, I could imagine it being convenient for travelling large distances. The stats could have done with an in-game description (Resistance was for defense against magic damage, you are right about Accuracy.)
@cdunham I did have enemy health bars enabled at one point but I thought it made the battles look too cluttered. Maybe it could have worked, though! Displaying the individual stats for each squad is for sure something I would have liked to have implemented.
Thanks again!
Cool game! The art style was really cute. I got stuck because the game was telling me to find the hat when I was already wearing it, but at least I still got to do some fishing in the pond of tears.
Neat game, nice work making a multiplayer submission! Unfortunately there was only me and one other humongous spider, but I can see it being more fun with lots of people.
Wow, cool game! The sudden change in mood when you unleash your plague upon the masses is great.
Thanks everyone for the feedback so far!
@slimabob A 1v1 multiplayer game is a great idea. I might consider attempting this... Thinking about it more, Lethal League is in the same vein, isn't it.
@jerripo I haven't played An Untitled Story but I do see what you mean! Yeah being able to dash while immobile probably should have been a feature.
@jakobthequizguy Hahaha, I'm glad someone found that ;) Yeah it does seem like once again I've not tuned the difficulty very well. The freezer part 2 is where it goes a bit overboard, I would definitely lower the wind strength in hindsight, amongst other things. Thanks for the kind words!
Nice work! If I had to change one thing I would probably make the player controls a little less floaty.
Neat game! I really liked the projectile deflecting mechanic too. I feel like the game just needs a better sense of progression, but nice work overall.
Nice work, I really liked the unique falling platform mechanic. The music and weirdness gave the game a kind of dreamy feeling too which I liked. I think there is potential here! If I could change one thing, I would probably make the player jump automatically, as I found myself holding the jump button down the whole time anyways.
This was great! I think your game is my favourite take on the theme yet. I love the amount of stress it generates. The spammed pop-ups were definitely the hardest thing for me to deal with.
Cool game, I thought the graphics were nice. I did think the time taken to fix a power source felt a little too long, and the camera was a bit buggy for me, but good work otherwise :)
I had a lot of fun with this one! It was on the challenging side, the wolf level and the thin path level in particular. I like how you innovated on the mini-golf formula by having the putter have to reach the goal too, you could do some interesting things with that idea.
Nice work, I liked the graphics! The controls felt good too.
Nice work making a multiplayer game! I reckon a way to see the status of your fire when it is off the screen would be helpful.
Wow, I love how everything looks, great work on the graphics! Climbing on the robot as it walks around is a very cool concept. The intro/tutorial screen was great too. One small feature I would have liked is the ability to control the player with the arrow keys.
By the way, I think I found a bug where I couldn't repair the room on the back of the robot.
Nice game, it looks and feels really good to play. Strong Crypt of the Necrodancer vibes!
Neat game, I liked the art! It does feel like something is missing, some sort of player progression would help I think.
Unique art style, I liked it! Flinging the character around was quite fun, I can see how you could get skilled at perfectly maneuvering it. It did take me a bit to grasp the cube targeting, I was expecting the cube closest to my mouse to be targeted instead of the one closest to the character. Nice work overall.
Nice game, I like the art a lot! I think some feedback when you type a correct letter would be nice, I found it a little confusing when there where multiple of the same letter in a row.
Nice work, the game felt very polished. I liked the music a lot, it sounded like it was straight out of a Final Fantasy game!
