Couldn't find the browser version?
Great game! Loved the style and theme fit. The controls were a bit much to get used to. I also felt that my shots weren't going far enough to stay near my island and not have new land fall on me whenever I get a kill. Keep on jamming!
Cool idea! It was very hard to shoot the enemies though.
Good game, but is not easy to get used to its shoot pattern.
Neat idea, had a really hard time with the controls though. Nice work on the audio and music too, good job!
@thecommonthug The filename for html5 is break_web.zip. Ill fix the itch.io page to show the web version
VIM controls aside, really neat concept and the difficulty is fun :D
It is very difficult, but the concept is very cool and unique! Very neat twist on the theme. Good work!
Pretty clever take on the theme to grow your land by killing the baddies. No idea how to handle when walls of them come from multiple sides at once, I was having enough trouble with only 1 side that changes every now and then :P.
Great job!
I really liked the concept. The main point of difficulty was getting squashed under falling blocks and then being blocked from shooting incoming enemies. It's the physics that makes it extra difficult.
Getting used to the controls was difficult at first, but once I had that understood it was really fun to manipulate the perspective.
Made a few improvements based on the feedback. Hopefully this will help reduce the difficulty! Bullets travel farther and faster. The player movement has been increased, and added alternative controls for rotating.
Good game!
Very interesting take on the theme, quite different from most of the others. The movement and spinning of the island was quite disorientating but it was still fun to play. Maybe you could automagically restart the game when the player falls to far away from the island.
Ended up removing the HTML port. It was not as performant as the desktop versions.
The game is very fun to play! The rotating mechanic is very interesting and the game kept me engaged for a while spinning around like a mad man once I got the controls figured out. However, I got a game over because there where no stationary tiles, however I had a row of 4 stationary blocks left. Not sure if this bug has appeared before, but now you know. Nice work overall!
@markd Thanks for checking out the game! I think there might be a bug affecting the end game condition (unsure if its the same one you encoutered), but haven't had the chance to patch a fix.
Very fun actually. The gameplay is simple too once you figure it out. Only feedback would be more details on the controls when you start it up, and maybe a way to remap them.
I feel like swapping jump and shoot buttons would help a lot. I kept getting finger lock from trying to mash shoot while moving. That said though, this is one of the cooler ideas I've seen and one of the best uses of theme. If I could play with a gamepad, I might lose a few hours to it. Might give it a try later with Joy2Key and see how it feels. Solid work though. Well done!
Thank you for sharing your game with me. I played it on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298728142
It's a cool idea, but it's realy hard to stay on the planet. Controls are too complex, it's not easy to use it. Maybe change your player with a small ship, or something like that, witout gravity can help. With better controls, your concept can be realy cool.
@larnin I do agree that the controls have been a common difficulty among players. I am still thinking of ways to make it simpler or more intuitive. Maybe make shooting automatic? That way the player only focuses on movement and rotating.
