LD42 — Running out of space

Gravity Hook by GlacierEclipse 2018-08-14T18:46:23Z

Oh man does this game get hard further on. I got to level 11 before I had to put it down. Very fun though once you start getting the hang of shooting around objects (appreciated the level or 2 where swinging around 1 object was the entire level to teach you how that works). Too many times near the end though I ended up with just too much momentum, being able to use some oxygen to slow down would have been much appreciated :P

Great job on this!

One of the best games I've played so far, such a simple little idea polished to an awesome degree. I did have some small issues with trying to select the right block to move sometimes, especially if I removed a block somewhere in the middle of the level with buildings in the way, but beyond that little thing I loved playing this. Great job!

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-15T18:34:19Z

Pretty neat idea, and as others said impressive given that you pulled it off in a day. I was at times a little lost while spamming shots around the level when it came to keeping track of where I was or how many bullets I've fired, since the bullet trails are very similar and it's a little hard to see where one ends and the next begins. Other than that though a pretty solid game, nice work!

Castle Custodian by ectucker1 2018-08-14T00:34:23Z

I like the take on the theme! A little odd though that once you lose you can't restart within the same session.

Castle Custodian by ectucker1 2018-08-14T11:36:16Z

@ectucker1 huh, when I play through it again I see the game over screen. Before my screen just went black other than the HP and wave UI when I lost.

Trapista by Matsudasu 2018-08-16T03:02:39Z

Nice little polished platforming game, I like it! If I had to offer any criticism it would be that things get pretty repetitive after a few hundred points, would have been cool if the path started snaking more left and right to make navigation a little more challenging than hanging out near the middle most of the time. Great work!

Really enjoyed this, especially how the difficulty creeps up on you after you do a wave or two or combinations. I will agree that the rules for 'what combines with what' feels like it kind of falls apart after a while, but in the end it doesn't feel like it hurts overall too much, since by the time it really hits you you're near the end already. Nice work!

Pretty clever take on the theme to grow your land by killing the baddies. No idea how to handle when walls of them come from multiple sides at once, I was having enough trouble with only 1 side that changes every now and then :P.

Great job!

Well that was definitely something magical to stumble across.

Fruit Shack Frenzy by CosmicCrystalGames 2018-08-15T01:06:28Z

I wasn't really sure if there is supposed to be a definitive 'end' or not, but I did get through about a week and a half of levels. Things did end up getting to the point though where after the first 4-5 customers per day the backroom was so full you couldn't even hope to get back there to get items you might need (looking at you happy carrot and magic cherries). Pretty solid application of the theme :)

Storage Overflow by Andreas Roschal 2018-08-15T00:40:14Z

Watching the warehouse descend into chaos as your little dude spins aimlessly to get to the box in the far corner is an awesome feeling, great use of the theme!

ShortServe by G4MR 2018-08-15T01:24:27Z

Very solid/polished game. Agreed with the comments about similarly colored things making quick scanning a little more difficult than expected, but otherwise a very fun time.

Soggy Bunny by rexpeppers 2018-08-15T01:44:39Z

I actually said 'aww' when I beat the last level, was really looking forward to playing more of this one. Loved playing it, solid application of the theme and the art style fits great with the mechanics of it all. Fantastic work!

The Custodian of ZX-42 by Darkphnx 2018-08-16T02:51:38Z

Really liked the art style for this one, and the player nav across each side was a nice touch. I did find it a little odd that you can only heal with enough kindling, but you turn that in at the same spot as where you end the level. Meaning that by the time I did need healing, I had to scrounge up 8 or so pieces. Before then I just figured the growing end was just a signal that you beat the level, unless it was healing me 1/2 a heart or something each time and I didn't notice, heh. Also I wish I read the comments here earlier about if it was endless or not, I got to level 15 or so before I started wondering about it :P. Great job overall!

ShipIt by cbenoit 2018-08-14T11:28:15Z

Ah! sorry for the late response @sauski, thanks @seafishelle for helping clear things up for them :)

ShipIt by cbenoit 2018-08-15T01:30:57Z

@g4mr yeah I tend to agree, I only ended up with enough time to do a handful of full playthroughs to check for general balance, and things definitely end up piling on a bit more than they might need to with just not enough to spend it all on (besides the upgrades) :P . I was aiming for something similar to a clicker, where it could be a thing left to its own devices in the background. Happy to see that some of those themes came through!

Ramboom by Holy 2018-08-16T03:33:33Z

Love it! Good thing the bow was there, I was getting nowhere with the original weapon. Some really nice graphics too. I did notice that enemies were dropping upgrades and things, but I was always too late to snag them and had to just stare at the extra hearts sitting in the blown up area :(. Very nice work!

Orenji-Shima - Orange Jelly Puzzle Island by Tekugare 2018-08-17T01:42:19Z

Oh wow, I think this is one of my favorites that I've played so far. A clever little puzzler that introduces and hints at mechanics as you go, all while looking wonderful and feeling great to play. Really great job!

Warehouse by Monstr 2018-08-15T03:29:36Z

Pretty neat take on a tetris game, where you can choose blocks to completely ignore and take the ones you really need. As @superpokeunicorn mentioned though I did accidentally find out with the L blocks that you can block the conveyor belt and take your time/have no penalties for picking and choosing. Other than that it's a pretty solid game, great work!

Dora De'athsplorer by Phantom Dinosaur 2018-08-15T03:57:21Z

Wow this game looks and plays super clean. Very impressively polished and has a pretty great use of the theme, now if only I can get more than 50 points, great job!
