Great execution on the theme. Gameplay is challenging but not too difficult. It gets hectic as the plates fill up.

addvector 2018-08-13 17:42

Really fits well with the theme. Engaging and difficult, the music is perfect for the mood. Really enjoyed it!

akaneiro 2018-08-13 17:45

I really like the gfx! Fun and simple idea. Also: a plus that you made a tutorial info :)

chocolat-endive 2018-08-13 17:45

Quite fun, and perfectly in the theme!

nexusviper 2018-08-13 17:51

loved it... great work

manusaiz 2018-08-13 17:51

Nice idea, art was cool too! Maybe a bit hard at the start, but fun at the end :dog:

rafael-endo 2018-08-13 18:10

Good game. I have only one question, Supposedly it was for foods to have similar colors?

Since the foods have similar silhouettes, I have to take some times to find and see the food I want to click.

Beside that, the game is good.

g4mr 2018-08-13 18:27

@rafael-endo that's actually great feedback, I wish I changed the color of different foods or maybe plates to make it easier on the eyes so you can find things quicker. If I continue with this project I definitely will take that feedback into consideration.

rafael-endo 2018-08-13 18:31

And a hint, if use a color as element of the game, please considere the color blind people. For future games too.

greenboxgames 2018-08-13 18:59

The music is relaxing and the game play is enjoyable, the only problem i had with this game was that the food all looks the same. Maybe in the future try using more distinguishable sprites.

g4mr 2018-08-13 19:03

@greenboxgames yeah, I agree.

guladam 2018-08-13 19:03

It was fun and challanging, I liked the pixel art and clean game UI. Nice work! :)

taner 2018-08-13 19:03

It was actually a hard game because there are so many different foods which look very familiar. But design and idea was good.

sthor726 2018-08-13 19:04

Really cool game! music was on point. I got mixed up between the foods (Since the sprites are so similar) but otherwise it was a great game.

raziyya 2018-08-13 21:27

Great looking game and an interesting concept. The food sprites and the UI look gorgeous. Did find myself just waiting for certain food to appear at the start of the game, and then at the end I had too much to do. Maybe this could be smoothed out by increasing the chance that food on an order appears?

paulloz 2018-08-13 23:01

The music is so chill, I kinda want to leave this open in the background. The concept is quite simple but it's quickly challenging so I had fun playing.

wekaj 2018-08-14 03:47

Nice work! I found the game pretty tough because I could rarely find the foods I needed from the orders, but the music was great.

calixjumio 2018-08-14 04:11

Nice art and music!, couldnt find my foods tho hahaha, if theres a way to enforce that missing items would be available at least when 50% of the space is filled I would have enjoyed it a hell lot more

lauren-kaehler 2018-08-14 04:46

I have mixed feelings, the music I literally started humming and bobbing along to = perfect! But it was randomly extremely difficult at times. I would get 350, then have 4 turns of under 60 points as the food that I needed didn't load, and swapping the menus didn't seem to improve my odds during some turns. NAILED THE THEME.

kyle-kaehler 2018-08-14 04:52

alot of the game feels polished. Not sure if its intentional but it feels like the randomization on left to orders on the right makes this game harder than it needs to be. I really liked the music, me and the wife were humming and head bobbing to it. The UI had a really great look to it again i would say polished. controls were VERY smooth. Great work!!

tomi 2018-08-14 08:05

Nice music and pixel art, but I felt there are problems with food appearance order. great work!

pixelstuff 2018-08-14 09:11

I like this game for the atmosphere, but the sprite are difficult to recognize (but this add some challenge !). Nice choice of music !

nickthesic 2018-08-14 17:03

Good game, but I would recommend a smaller starting point and less food at first to give the player some time to understand how the game works. Then slowly add more plates and food as they get a higher score with the ability to start at a higher level too. I had fun with the game!

hayroljr 2018-08-15 00:32

Good Game, it's fun and a good execution of the theme, nice.

mandarad 2018-08-15 01:23

This was pretty nice. I liked the clean look of the UI.

It definitely does get hectic if you let those items pile up.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but it might be nice if when a new dish pops up it doesn't just appear, but the plate gets a light highlight or something for a second.

Overall this was a really nice game jam game, good job

cbenoit 2018-08-15 01:24

Very solid/polished game. Agreed with the comments about similarly colored things making quick scanning a little more difficult than expected, but otherwise a very fun time.

g4mr 2018-08-15 01:35

@mandarad oh like a little flickering notifying that it's going to spawn then spawn? that'd be cool. could give you a little more time too.

bmopapa 2018-08-15 03:24

Nice Job! The game really fits the theme and the art is cute! Looking for the right combination is hurting my eyes because they have similar colors. :P

boopsgames 2018-08-15 04:59

Addictive! Does it make sure there's some orders you can fill before it fills up or is it just random? Cause, man, it's pretty tough!

manbeardgames 2018-08-15 08:36

I've only played the jam version so comments and feedback are based on that.

This is one of those games that I could spend hours playing trying to do better and better each time. It is a little unforgiving in how fast everything fills up, and it seemed to not roll out enough of the items needed for orders. I believe you said you fixed this in the other version.

Visually the only feedback I can think to give is to maybe add some more variance to the colors of the items. So many of them are very similar in color, it gets hard to find what you need once it starts filling up.

Also, pointed it out on the stream, but the small bug was found. You can submit just one item for an order that has multiple and it takes that and gives full score for it.

Overall solid entry and with some polish this would be a really fun game to play, especially on mobile.

Here is a link to the play through from the stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297566873

I played both the jam version and the updated version. The game is super fun and addictive, the graphics are really good and overall I think it has enormous potential. My only problem, and it's a big problem, was with the balance of the game. I feel like most of the time I keep getting stuff I don't need and just sit there watching the board fill up (I played a bunch of times, and it keeps happening). It's really frustrating. I don't know if it's intentional or just random, but either way it could use some tweaking. I think with a better balance this game could be really really great. Great Job!!

even-games 2018-08-15 11:41

Very nice idea, good music, and mood. The only problem I found is the spawn of the ingredients. I think it could be handled in a better way, as you find yourself given ingredients you do not need at all for several turns and cannot progress in any order. If not a smarter spawning system, an option that would allow you to skip or refuse some orders could be a nice fix in my opinion.

hauo 2018-08-15 12:38

Very lovable. Such a simple concept, with great music, a very minimalistic presentation and awesome pixel-art. I do however, suck so bad at the game, I found that the items just became so cluttered that I could find any good combinations and got rather stressed :P While it's not my type of game, it has a great design and I can see a lot of people loving this type of game. Really fits will with the theme. Great work.

afendar 2018-08-15 14:15

The game is nice, the graphics are great and the music fits well with the concept. There is just one thing I would add that would be to put a progressive difficulty with the orders to be made to avoid the direct frustration. I have also noticed that at times, there are no ingredients that are related to the orders and we sometimes remain all the party waiting for these ingredients to fulfill the conditions. Overall, it's a very good prototype. It just takes a few adjustments. Congratulations and great work.

Oh and the management of the max score is each time reset when we click on new game.

dsqowl 2018-08-16 02:35

Out of all the games I've played so far, I definitely spent the most time on this one (in a good way!) The music is so fanciful and delightful and just carefree even as the screen is piling up with orders. I appreciate the in game instructions, I just wish I had read that I could dismiss orders by right clicking them! I definitely played the first couple times dismissing no orders and and getting a little frustrated that some items were never showing up on screen. Overall, I really liked this!

crave 2018-08-16 02:49

Im loving the food art! Its also pretty loyal to the theme so thats a great plus

tomg 2018-08-16 02:59

Nice work, did you do the art? It's cute. I love the style. The UI is okay, has that minimalist feel. The music was excellent. Nice to see a game made in Godot as well!

Some criticisms / suggestions - Chicken didn't come up once! - I was getting full points for giving 1 item to a person who wanted 3 items. I get that you should give them max items to clear space but a bonus would be good to the points. - Since you only have 3 items max at any given time, I'd say don't worry about the RightClick + Shift function, and just have RighClick = drop all items. Make it a 2 button game. I didn't use the shift key at all.

g4mr 2018-08-16 03:17

@tomg I did the plates, shift key, order bubbles. The art for the food items are from opengameart.

jack-maxwell 2018-08-16 04:49

Fits great with the theme, Ive always liked those restaurant managment games and this one is no exception, its intense and the art style is good. Great work!

ndhr-productions 2018-08-16 04:56

Simple, extremely well done, and fun!

diego-escalante 2018-08-16 05:13

Simple but effective! It was a good challenge! I was looking for some food items for a long time, but they never appeared (or maybe I missed them!). Do you just use a standard random number generator to put out random food items? Have you ever considered using a [shuffle bag](https://gamedevelopment.tutsplus.com/tutorials/shuffle-bags-making-random-feel-more-random--gamedev-1249)? With it, you can ensure that every item appears at least once. So maybe you won't wait for that one item in vain. Although take this with a grain of salt. Maybe it doesn't work well for this game! Anyway, good work, I had a lot of fun playing this.

g4mr 2018-08-16 11:46

@diego-escalante yeah this version is completely RNG. I made a change in 1.1.0 where it spawns an item 50% more often from the items on one of your plates now. As well when you reroll orders the items in the order have a 60% chance of having something already on the board. Making it less frustrating. Give it a try and let me know if that was the improvement you were looking for

2018-08-16 14:27

It's a fun game and an awesome idea. I didn't spot any bugs (however I am not the best at doing so). The only thing I found a bit off was that all the foods were the same color. If this was suppose to be like that, idk, however it did make it a lot les fun and challenging for me.

rend 2018-08-16 14:35

Cool take on the theme. It was harder than I expected, especially because the foods that appear didn't seem related to the orders and I sometimes had to wait for the good one to pop up. Also, I found it a bit strange to get all the points for an order by only selecting one of its food and not all of them. I understand it clears less spaces to do it one by one but with the timer going, I'd say the best strategy is to go with one plate per order, but maybe I'm wrong:) Cool entry anyway, really fits the theme!

kinsei 2018-08-18 09:11

Super simple (in a good way) and fun game! Graphics are really nice, the tiny sprites managed to make me hungry haha. I like the fact that you can still "fulfill" orders while not having all the food. It's a clever way to make the player strategize between earning points and making room to avoid the gameover.

Tho at some point a lot of food look very similar in shapes and colors. It's nice to set a few traps for difficulty and challenge, but it gets a little too overwhelming right now. (but as a pixel artist myself I understand how hard it is when you have so few pixels to work with  )

The music is fitting and enjoyable. Super fun and polished game overall!

joe-sycalik 2018-08-18 18:36

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I didn't really have much fun playing the game. The randomization of spawning foods should definitely be tweaked to skew towards spawning foods that are in your current orders at least a bit. I find that most of the game is spent just waiting around and hoping that the right foods spawn, which gets old rather quickly. It tends to just feel like the game is playing itself.

The game felt rather polished, but I do wish you had the option to make the window fullscreen.

rahim-pxr 2018-08-27 22:23

Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a
