LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Eiradirian Wormfare by blay09 2014-04-29T19:27:00

really nice game although i didn't play it much as i am really only into puzzle games it seems really cool, the intro scared me away a little though... and it was a bit anoying that esc stopped the game instead of showing a menu screen

Gravitas by m12y 2014-04-29T12:55:00

it is a very nice principle but could have had some smoothening with the detection and it should have some sort of velocity system, but very cool idea anyways

The Ascent by guimonpa 2014-05-01T19:23:00

really cool concept man, would have liked some checkpoint system though. i was just at the part i needed to make the huge jump with the laser gun but glitched trough the ground there so i got stuck....

LD35 — Shapeshift

Subject 96 by wumpus 2016-05-01T22:10:00

Amazing game! the concept is really nice and simple and the graphics and sound go well with it! I had a few minor details that could be improved though. First of, the level was too difficult, But I guess that was because you didn't have time to make multiple levels? And then there was also the jumping. If you press down and your body is on a block but not the center of the body, it wont jump when letting go, though this might be somewhat realistic, it was kind of anoying.
but even with these little annoyances, it was an amazing game, good job!

Terrain Shifter by AshkoreDracson 2016-05-04T20:22:00

amazing game! you must have know a lot about unity/opengl because those are some advanced physics you have there. Fits the theme very well too! :D

Boyd, P.I. by TTFTCUTS 2016-04-25T14:53:00

Really good nice, simple mechanics but goes well with the theme. Only 2 problems I had is that the controls are too slippery in the air imo and the loading when restarting takes way too long, a problem that I had with my own game aswell.

rain contact by remmy 2016-04-21T16:01:00

Dang, that is some cool stuffs. More an story than a game but it looked really cool that is for sure. could maybe have added some more game elements, but I really liked it nonetheless.

Laser Town by Hectigo 2016-05-01T22:24:00

for me it was a little hard to only move the towers up or down 1 level sometimes, but other than that it was a great game!

ANTI-VIRUS by Kitty553 2016-04-25T11:04:00

hmm, really cool game, it is a shame that it has to install though. wasn't very clear what to do at first either. Still great concept and execution

Slimon Sways by Fanatrick 2016-04-21T22:00:00

damn man, that is some epic stuff! really fits the theme and is fun to play too, kinda amazed at all the things you managed to put in, even the 'where are the other blobs' indicator.

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-28T23:09:00

amazing game, all aspects of it! tiny glitch though, you can shift while in the cut screen, and it wont be able to cut the newly added body.

ˈSHāpˌSHift by GogglesKitty 2016-04-21T21:46:00

intereseting idea, fits the theme well. Must say that I was done with it after about 5 min though, could perhaps make it a bit less boring with a proper leveling system. But really nice work anyway!

Shapeshifting Slime by pianoman373 2016-05-02T22:24:00

for some reason this doesn't appear to be working for me? http://puu.sh/oE7vH/552b701cea.png this is what I get and it all seems fine, but all i can do is move left and right...? I also didn't have the resolution option of 1280*600 :/

Shapeshifting Slime by pianoman373 2016-05-02T22:29:00

oh nevermind, I didn't understand the controls yet. Interesting concept, would like to see a finished version of it :D

Retry by MadmenProductions 2016-04-21T21:35:00

I really like the looks of this game! I dont think it is that much fun to play currently, but it has a lot of potential. I really like the dash button and also the animation for it, good job!

Agent Shapeshifter by Theseus101 2016-05-04T17:34:00

this game could use some better instructions :(
It looks like fun, but I have no clue how I can eliminate targets.

Greedy Miners by RafaSKB 2016-04-24T07:32:00

cool game, interesting use of the theme too. The graphics are amazing!

Split Decisions by NPC23 2016-04-22T21:13:00

Contains a few little bugs, but great game! It was a lot of fun to play and fits the theme well.

P.A.M by brunopdias 2016-04-24T07:25:00

really good looking game, fits the theme well too. I personally didn't really enjoy playing it, it was a bit frustrating, but that was probably because I suck at it.
Also, its a shame that you didn't want to be rated on graphics, because that is the best aspect of this game in my opinion.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Rescuing Atlantis by Austinat 2016-09-01T11:55:00

Really nice looking game. The gameplay itself wasn't too interesting though, apart from the twisting of gravity.
I am not sure if that was intended to be in there, but it sure made the second level a lot easier. I defenitly couldn't have done it with only jumping, the controls are quite difficult. I really enjoyed the controller support though!

Guidance by Avalanche Games 2016-09-01T11:32:00

Nice game, didn't use the theme in a too interesting way, but still amusing. I would have loved a few more levels though!

Helepolis : Make It To the Siege by olkeencole 2016-09-01T22:13:00

Interesting physics game, I like this simple 3d art too :)

Journey of a Robot by Chokapik 2016-09-01T21:17:00

Man, I really like this game!
I originally clicked it cus it kinda seemed to have a similar approuch as my game.
It still is quite different though, and I just love what you have done with this, gj!

There is no instructions!? by nitroix 2016-09-01T21:08:00

Man, this looks great!
I thought I understood what the idea was, but apperently not, nothing happened :(
I would love to know how to actually finish this though, will you release a solution video eventually?

Chronolabe by itslenny 2016-09-01T12:50:00

Really cool game! good looking too! I couldn't pass the boiler thingy though. For some reason the pipe didn't stay up, it might be a bit buggy, or I was just doing it wrong. There also is a tiny mistake in the walking animation, where it doesn't loop correctly. Anyways, really good concept and good execution too!

LightBringer by Rakart 2016-09-02T20:22:00

Really nice game. Awesome graphics, and nice controls.
I personally always struggle with getting the controls to feel right. And in this game they certainly do :)
Was a bit confused on how to finish the last level though.
Not sure if there is a bug, or if I am just missing something.

Into the Pyramid by Galan 2016-09-01T11:43:00

Not really my type of game. Still interesting though, and nice funny looking pixel art :)

Blocky Hill by SweatyChair 2016-09-01T12:21:00

Man, this was one awesome game. It was a lot of mindless fun. pretty good looking too!

Words and Wide Spaces by Move127 2016-09-01T21:43:00

Wow man, This game is great. It took me a while to get going, needed some hints from the comments. But once I understood that they were numbers I was able to finish the puzzles slowly, quite cool that you didn't use decimal but a 12 digit system

Words and Wide Spaces by Move127 2016-09-01T22:07:00

I am happy that I added an any base to any base option when making my binary to decimal converter on my calculator, first time that turned out to be usefull XD
But man, I understood the numeric stuff, but the language got me confused, I finished the game nonetheless. BUt I would love to see a explenation of everything at some point.

2D Battle Simulator by Sina 2016-09-01T14:00:00

Lol, this is one incredibly derpy game, I think it would be quite fun with some refinement.

Cryptoglyphics by Bogden 2016-09-02T14:11:00

Interesting idea, I love the option of creating glyphs.
It is unfortunate that the nature of the game makes it so you will prettymuch always need a 'hint' or probably a few.

Ancient Kingdoms by tGiant 2016-09-01T20:55:00

Really nice looking game.
I liked playing 1 battle, but there is too little going on for to keep a second one interesting.
Anyways, loved the looks and fits the theme well :)

cognizance by managore 2016-09-03T09:41:00

Holy shit this game is awesome. I would like some save system though XD. I gathered 5 cogs but had to continue on with other business before I could finish the game. anyway, great work!

Antikythera Mechanism by thegunmaster 2016-09-01T22:14:00

@cottontrek That is because we just looked for simple puzzle games online, so we actually just made it after flow XD. Hour version is a bit worse though ofc.

Antikythera Mechanism by thegunmaster 2016-09-01T22:16:00

our**

Antikythera Mechanism by thegunmaster 2016-09-02T14:15:00

@n42k that sucks, I don't have any Linux system myself, so I am not able to test it myself unfortunatly. I think the error you sent me I could fix, but I still would have no idea if it works afterwards :(

Aquadrata by Four Quarters 2016-09-01T13:00:00

Really interesting game, a bit cumbersome though as the controls are very slippy. It makes sens though, being underwater. Great graphics too!

Tappy Catapult by Mordokay 2016-09-01T12:39:00

Man, insanly hard game, I only finished 2 levels.
Was quite fun though. I would say the graphics could use some work though.

LD37 — One room

How many employees are needed in a factory? by ThCortezZ 2016-12-17T22:11:00

Pretty fun little game, for me some of the text was cut off at the bottom though.

Mouse House by MacDocBros 2016-12-13T20:54:00

Very nice simple game, fitting title too haha

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Capture the Essence by explorer 2018-08-15T18:15:32Z

I would assume not, but does this by any chance have VR support? When I started it, it launched my oculus launcher. Anyhow, the game was interesting... Somehow polished and unpolished at the same time. Game play was a little boring in my opinion, but it looked very nice with the animations and ragdolls :)

LD42 — Running out of space

Scrap Field by ping78 2018-09-01T00:17:00Z

I too would have liked a tutorial. Game play seemed a little slow (as far as I understood it), so it isn't really my type of game. But everything seems very polished and I really liked the graphics :)

Pusher by notime4games 2018-08-25T19:41:39Z

This looks kind of interesting, but feels a bit unfinished. But that seems to align with your description so that's alright. I think you did a decent job non the less, could just use some finishing touches :)

Magic Cam by Marcel Egle 2018-08-15T15:59:37Z

Very neat concept, fits the theme very well. It was a little too difficulty for me personally though, I kept dying.

The Return by seizethedia 2018-08-16T13:40:09Z

Very interesting game! The graphics could have used some work in my opinion though. the art style itself is fine, kind of cool, but I would have made the game less static. For instance by adding sliding transitions when you move, and animations for tacking and delivering damage. But pretty cool game none the less :)

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-14T11:37:09Z

@tednesday Ye, the controls aren't precise at all. That's mostly due to the cellular structure of the code. There is basically no global data tracking the player, each cell just checks both the controls and their neighbor cells each tick. So if the controls don't fall in that 1 tick, they won't be registered. So ye, part of the gameplay (including performance) was compromised by my idea of building it entirely as a cellular automata. I am glad to hear you liked the looks though, that's always a difficult aspect for me :) And also thanks for the nice feedback @lsd , @steffo , @huskitch and @tednesday

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-14T16:04:02Z

@skyrex can you be more specific? I haven't had that issue myself yet. Are you holding the spacebar constantly? (edit: I now made the player shoot by default)

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-15T19:30:52Z

@player-2 thanks for your feedback :D I too liked the music quite a bit. Selulance (the guy who made it) is a friend of mine, so I just ask him if he has something that fits my stuff and then he sends a bunch of songs to pick from :)

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-19T22:37:17Z

@prodigalson Thanks for your extensive feedback, glad that you liked it :) Initially the space behavior was totally reversed, so basically you had to hold space to shoot, not simply tap it. This is understandably something many people found annoying, and people that didn't read up on the controls often didn't even figure out how to shoot. So I thought the simplest 'fix' was to just swap it.

And @mediyaz indeed, it was really hard taking distance from the code I spent so much time on. And the sunk cost fallacy comes in play even more if you only have 3 days of course XD. I do think the ideas themselves worked, just not the execution. And that was not something I could fix in those 3 days.

Flat Builder by Drauthius 2018-08-18T16:22:05Z

Interesting idea, not sure if you pulled it off too well though honestly. It felt a bit clunky to me. But I kind of assume you didn't have enough time to make it perfect, it was an ambitious idea I think for something to make in 3 days.

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-15T19:08:49Z

Very nice game, I too had been thinking about making some game where the window itself becomes smaller.

Pillar by arcadonauts 2018-08-14T14:54:18Z

Oh wow, I did not expect this quality of game play when starting this. Only a few mechanics but they are very well balanced and are very interesting. And it fits the theme super well! Only complaint I have is that the sounds were a bit annoying (but this is my opinion ofc), so I am happy you added a mute button. Also, the webpage has a scrollbar that gets activated by pressing space for me on chrome: https://puu.sh/Be7eR/c54efd9f76.png. simply adding html, body{overflow:hidden} to the css would probably solve the issue.

Nooooo! by YANIV 2018-08-16T21:44:50Z

Oh, nice idea, needing to balance the collecting stuff and protecting the land.

Tetris with Physics by gord10ahmet 2018-08-15T19:21:13Z

Ha! very cool adaptation of a classic game, many classic games like tetris also jumped into my mind when I read the theme

Human Powered Rocket by EggshellDog 2018-08-14T10:38:47Z

Interesting idea, very original, inspired by minecraft's old mob packing by any chance? It did get rather easy once I understood the controls however, reaching every goal with the first attempt. Could perhaps have tried to add some more difficulty.

Human Powered Rocket by EggshellDog 2018-08-14T11:30:10Z

Ha okay, if you still want to know what I was talking about: https://youtu.be/5NvkhOTxtYQ?t=127

Rise and Shine by Jakub Panek 2018-08-14T10:47:40Z

The constant rotation made me a bit dizzy (Which I get easily) so an option of some kind would have been nice. Other than that it is a nice looking game, but probably would have worked best on mobile. It is rather simple for a desktop game.

Personal Space by ProdigalSon 2018-08-18T16:33:06Z

Very nice game, fits the theme very well but does have original game play.

Nether Flood by Ever 2018-08-15T18:25:19Z

Very sweet game! It fits the theme well, and the visuals are very nice despite being simple! The controls felt really good already in my opinion, but maybe could be improved a bit more, like variable turning speed depending on movement speed, or something along those lines, not sure. Very nice entry overall :)

Who Z For Dinner by talisra22 2018-08-16T21:50:53Z

I really liked the graphics of this game, with the wonky 'animations'. I assume those are more of a time choice than a design choice, but it is pretty cool none the less.

Manspreader by Rob White 2018-08-13T23:20:55Z

This really made me laugh. Very simple game which by itself wouldn't be too interesting in my opinion. But together with the art style and the funny theme, it makes for a very nice game. And even though the game play isn't too interesting (neither is mine) it somehow is still enjoyable to play.

LaserJuice (Top Down Shooter) by NoTime4Name 2018-08-15T19:03:03Z

I wasn't able to play the game, so I just judged some aspects from what I saw from your post. But this game is very similar to mine :D it is quite a simple formula though of course, shooting a spreading virus. But your version looks very cool, it's a shame I wasn't able to try it :(

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-15T15:51:40Z

Pretty good game, seems to me like you ran out of time though? There are some details that I would have changed, but I assume you just didn't get to them; The end screen is rather boring, The characters don't face the movement direction, the rocket launchers don't have explosions. The art style is very nice too :)

Defrag by mediyaz 2018-08-17T23:00:12Z

Very cool game, love the classic trail that you put in there :)

Quibble Quarrel by TJ101010 2018-08-14T15:34:03Z

Very nice game, controls felt very good too! Just the choice for the button that is used for the attack is a little questionable in my opinion.

Night Shift by TomekS 2018-08-14T11:11:43Z

Wow, very nice game! It is both a puzzle and a skill game, I love it! I wish I would have thought of this (Though I wouldn't have pulled it off as well anyhow).

Void Worker by sotark_ 2018-08-14T14:11:55Z

I was not a big fan of the controls either, but will provide some more concrete remarks: I would rather have used A and D to turn, and W and S to move forward and backward in the direction you are facing. I liked the fact that the controls were a bit slippery though. Apart from that, it did fit the theme very well. Just the controls and the graphics could have used some work in my opinion.

Dystopia Tycoon by Hare Software 2018-08-14T09:59:01Z

Interesting idea, I however really sucked at it, so the 'out of space' aspect didn't even come into play for me. But I see how that would have worked :)

Jelly! by rowanqueue 2018-08-14T14:45:10Z

Cool game, I think this would work very well on mobile! The spreading rules seem too difficult though, if they were simpler I would try to do things strategically. Now I just try something and observe how it reacts, which still works decently.

Stack City by HEXIEZ123 2018-08-14T14:27:57Z

Not really my type of game, but I like the idea. Execution also seems decent, but I didn't play for very long and wasn't very good at it.

42 Toy by Pavsel 2018-09-01T16:11:32Z

Pretty good game, looks very polished, as had been noted by others. The game play is quite simple, but it is that addicting type of simple. It did feel a little too easy though, you might want to tweak the difficult a little. The game fits the theme rather well also, so good job overall :)

Running out of Space by 314owen 2018-08-14T15:13:36Z

Very nice game, I too thought of going with this interpretation of the theme at one point. The block movement mechanic works very nicely and makes the game interesting (It is unfortunate that the game play mechanic has nothing to do with the theme though, which is the main reason I didn't go for this interpretation). Anyhow I think this made for a pretty nice game none the less :)

I am kind of interested in what tools you used though, as I am surprised to see that you have collision detection between the moving blocks. Is it something you made yourself, or just a standard library?

Claustrophobia by deformhead 2018-08-16T19:52:40Z

The incorporation of the theme was not great in my opinion. I mean, you achieved this by making it a small screen, but that is kind of a shallow artistic thing, I prefer the theme to be incorporated in game play. And you game play is more like 'running out of moves' kind of. With that out of the way, this game is actually awesome! Super fun to play with really neat art style. It is very unfortunate that you couldn't make more levels, I would definitely be interested in playing an extended version.

Leaving Room by LastLeaf 2018-08-25T19:58:17Z

Oh wow, this game is great! Super fun to play and quite unique. Seemed like just a copy of that unblock me game at first, but turned out to be rather different. It also fits the theme super well and has very nice graphics, good job!

Arrows by JimmyC 2018-08-14T14:02:31Z

Very simple but enjoyable game :) Only thing that I can really see being improved are the visuals, but that's just my opinion. Apart from that I am wondering if you can make this work for mobile, because the simplicity of it it could work out great on a mobile platform. Only issue is to figure out how to make proper controls for that, so it might not be doable. Very nice entry anyhow, fits the theme very well!

Snake the platformer by ArtlessGames 2018-08-12T20:19:12Z

Man, I wish I would have had an idea like this. Super simple but unique and fun to play! I would personally have tried to make it look a bit fancier, with some actual textures or shaders or something, but that's partially a matter of taste.

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-16T13:47:05Z

Damn, that's a cool game. Super polished too! It is quite simple, but very nice. The only slight complaint I have is that the controls don't feel super nice in my opinion. But that is very subjective of course.

Tile League by do the dog.avc 2018-08-15T18:41:17Z

Very nice idea! Execution isn't bad, but could have been a little neater imo, it feels quite static as it is. Adding some slight velocity to the controls is always nice I think, and proper rotation instead of 90 degree increments would look nice as well. But the idea is the most important part! And of course you might simply disagree with my opinion, it is an opinion after all :)

ChromeStuck by Inferture 2018-08-31T18:39:16Z

Mhhm, it looked cool, but only the 'a' button worked on my computer with my xbox 360 controller, so I didn't manage to play really.

Blast Off! by heidelbert 2018-08-17T12:01:11Z

I thought the controls with the mouse were a tiny bit annoying, but other than that it's a pretty cool game :D
