LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-28T21:08:00

Really cool :D

A Galaxy United by MarekkPie 2014-08-25T02:53:00

Felt like movement and collisions were bugged. Good idea though.

Worlds Collide by Beanalby 2014-08-25T02:42:00

Good concept and prototype, but nothing more. I liked the charge sound, disliked the fact that birds once they start chasing you are impossible to evade. Could be nice with more gameplay mechanics that involve actual skill.

Stories in the Sky by frosty 2014-08-25T02:55:00

The start got me a bit psyched just to find out it's more of an application than a game. Well made, the intro was nailed too.

Dreamshift by AgentParsec 2014-08-25T03:42:00

Cool concept, however it's 21mB in size D:

The Unfortunate Potato by Longarmx 2014-08-25T03:02:00

"In the end, Potato came to a realization..."
Good puzzle, good mood, well made :D

Or Else They Will Disconnect You (for Oculus Rift) by Dark Arts and Sciences 2014-09-02T14:40:00

True that. Don't expect too much feedback :/

Chromasis by jwin 2014-08-25T03:34:00

Polished and cool. Nice concept however it's thematically not fully on point. Great piece nonetheless!

Epic Galactic Conquest by madk 2014-08-25T03:40:00

Getting a "not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous" on chrome. It's a false positive, the game works fine.

Travelling Spirit by thedeadlybutter 2014-08-25T15:00:00

I love the tune, the game is cool but the controls are a bit sketchy.

Honko's Worlds by FrankieSmileShow 2014-08-26T01:50:00

Really great piece! I love the rpg feel, graphics and audio blend really well. However the game suffers from having no checkpoints. Definitely one of the better submissions.

Switch Off by ghostinthesoft 2014-08-29T18:13:00

A bit glitchy, but interesting idea.

Greener Grass by CogentInvalid 2014-08-25T15:35:00

The theme was missed, however I'm glad I played this!

Universe of Color by Elforama 2014-08-25T02:49:00

Nice and colorful. I wish there was something that "threatened" the number of bodies acquired, like a dark hole kind a thing. Would work for some trippy colorful game.

Gingerbread Odyssey by RookMage 2014-08-25T14:51:00

I claimed revenge. Fun little platformer :D

Outer Threat by ypr 2014-08-25T14:55:00

Good concept, however there's not much to do that really affects the gameplay.

Robot Smuggler by DvigubaiPiktas 2014-08-26T02:08:00

Quite good and fun overall, it blends really nicely.

Her by GreenyUk 2014-08-25T03:36:00

Well designed, fun gameplay. The characters aren't synced properly but it doesn't hurt a lot.

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-09-02T14:50:00

17 people already voted while the game is not even playable...

Parallel Island by alastairbreeze 2014-08-25T03:09:00

Good but expected take on the theme. Voxels are nice, everything runs smooth. Enemies take too long to be killed though.

Nonomnia by robodylan 2014-08-26T01:59:00

I cringed a bit when I saw Comic Sans font, but the game is ok.

SpaceMail by Denisre3 2014-08-26T02:04:00

I like the gameplay, but graphics-wise 2 different styles collide and it doesn't blend well.

Black Box Bandit by BillToWin 2014-08-25T14:44:00

Cool entry overall.

Astral Crossroads by zdonkeyx 2014-08-28T21:15:00

Loved the mechanics! Puzzles were a bit based on trial and error, but it didn't hurt the gameplay. Really fun jam game :)

Close Your Eyes by nonetheless 2014-09-11T03:53:00

Completed on unfair mode. A really good ride, although a bit too short. One of the best games of the jam.

This Little Piggy... by InfectionTeam 2014-09-11T04:01:00

Amazing ride!

Nomoj by pvtroswold 2014-08-25T15:17:00

Really cool! I especially like the RPG setting :D

Harmony by LeftRight92 2014-08-25T15:30:00

Cool concept. It loaded for me perfectly in under 3 seconds. It's also pretty fun but since so many people opted for space games I'll deduct some theme points.

Garden of Oblivion by Traumendes_Madchen 2014-09-02T14:42:00

Beautiful art!

Invaders From Another World by Love Albatross 2014-08-25T15:25:00

Got to 40,000ish and died. Fun, but when a player dies you should show the score.

Invaders From Another World by Love Albatross 2014-08-25T15:25:00

Got to 40,000ish and died. Fun, but when a player dies you should show the score. Pixel art was cool too.

GPS: Galactic Parcel Service by lakael 2014-08-26T01:37:00

This is good and polished. It shows that you're well rounded as a duo. I would rate it even higher but there's an abundance of space games already flying around.

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-25T03:13:00

It's a .zip file containing an .exe and a .dll. It's a false positive. Go to settings -> advanced -> privacy and disable malware/phishing protection. I'll upload a sandboxed version...

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-25T03:23:00

If sandboxed doesn't help maybe check this out:
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=614454

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-25T14:37:00

It's great to hear you guys didn't give up! I was scared people would label it as too hard and just quit early, but luckily that's not the case :D

I highly appreciate all the feedback!

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-25T23:31:00

Thanks. I understand the game can be really difficult. I personally completed every level before releasing it. Obviously programming and heavy-testing the game myself I grew accustomed to the mechanics, but that also means everyone else is capable of beating the game as well :D

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-26T04:11:00

I definitely know what you're saying about the cruelty of the level design! I tested them so much myself till the point where they started being easy. Just play testing this one took an enormous chunk of dev time, but it was time well spent indeed.

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-08-27T23:13:00

@KevinZuhn:
Moving enemies (spiked balls) can be killed with fire with mouse buttons. In later levels killing them becomes simpler than evading them.

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-09-01T01:23:00

^ You didn't read the info, that's the whole point of the "Connected Worlds" theme. The world is different in the reflection.

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-09-03T14:26:00

The movement is too precise. You press the key the character moves, you release it he stops. Problem is, he's moving too fast horizontally which makes it hard to aim platforms. If the movement wasn't this precise the game would've been even harder.

Ignis by Fanatrick 2014-09-04T19:20:00

Pretty much spending 5 seconds in any of the levels lets you experience what reflection does. In fact you can't complete the very first jump of the first level without using the reflection......

Saman by koalamo 2014-08-25T15:13:00

The character reminds me of Tweek from South Park. There's a bug where you move 2x faster if you hold both A and LeftArrow for example.

ULTRA DEATHSTORM by Simplexcity 2014-08-26T04:06:00

I enjoyed this one so much! Thanks based pixel gods.

Between Worlds by Eduardo 2014-08-25T22:12:00

Good but spent most time on randomly roaming spamming spacebar. There is a bug where you jump outside of the level
http://i.imgur.com/ioySsnQ.png

Good conceptual material, enemies or hazards would help.

TEST by CrazyDud00 2014-08-29T18:16:00

Yep, link broken...

Diorama by Nooner Bear 2014-08-29T18:14:00

Pretty good, doesn't have any major cons.

6 Dimensions by Fanttum 2014-08-25T03:46:00

Very neat concept. The characters don't interact a lot, you basically complete every character's own set of puzzles in a level.

Inspirational Planets by Skywilly 2014-08-25T22:24:00

It's new and innovative. Love both the music and art.

Badland Quest by Hempuli 2014-08-26T04:02:00

Wow. I enjoyed this so much. Best submission I played yet! The bike riding and combat was ridiculously fun, you really made this challenging and fun to the max :D

This Way! by Accidental Rebel 2014-08-26T02:22:00

Very cool, polished gameplay. Feels pretty complete!

Pulley Planet by Patacorow 2014-08-25T22:03:00

Looks great but becomes quite repetitive.

Simple Realms by mramaizng 2014-08-26T02:36:00

Yeah those bears are creepy as hell. Overall pretty nice and fun for a while. Beat the big bear boss before closing.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Aaargh! by schnerble 2015-08-28T01:28:00

I'm glad our game wasn't the only stealth game in the submissions!
Looks really cool, I dig the idea, as someone else mentioned the UI could definitely see improvement, other than that and a little bit sketchy graphics this is a very well rounded submission :)

Carrot Capers by phaze0 2015-08-28T01:04:00

that redneck voice *chuckles*

humor would definitely be it's strong point, the dynamic control index at the beginning of the game is just not convenient.

Monster Factory by UntitledQ 2015-08-25T15:07:00

Quite cool, cool play on the monster theme with the energy drink.

Stompy stompy giant robot (failed game) by Boberro 2015-08-25T14:50:00

Glitchy, needs a proper tutorial I think D:
The monster model made me chuckle tho :D

Eyewall by SaintHeiser 2015-08-26T11:34:00

Challenging and well made all-round.

Milky Helps People by reheated 2015-08-29T00:51:00

Veeeeery creative, I enjoyed it, especially the humor and the general idea behind the theme. Awesome entry :D

Scare Them All! by blurryroots 2015-08-25T02:53:00

Looks great, but I guess it's mostly due to builtin Unity shaders. The gameplay was good, however it's in need of a proper tutorial or readme for people to fully enjoy :)

Black Licorice II - Return of the Salt by swinestudios 2015-08-29T02:42:00

Fun after 2 minutes of being really annoyed and clueless.

Human Zoo by NuSan 2015-08-26T12:01:00

Nice concept and take on the theme, high theme and innovation rating :)

Monster in cuadrada by Jet Spy Dragon 2015-08-28T01:47:00

The gibberish english! Humor +10!!

Soul Eater by Almax27 2015-08-25T15:02:00

Played until bugged out, then lost interest.

Well made, glitchy jump motion was also very neat in the end. The hits that lower the health need to be much more visible. How did the monster acquire arms before the sword?

Raiders of the retirement home by jojocanard 2015-08-26T12:04:00

Bit plain since you can't die, kills the challenge part of the game. Pathfinding and mechanics were ok.

Gruesome by metranil 2015-08-29T02:45:00

Liked the simplicity, disliked the lack in gameplay.

Don't Crawl by NikB 2015-08-26T12:45:00

This felt sooo nostalgic, it's amazing! Played the game with my sister, high grades all around from the both of us! :D

The Monster Files by Literal Games 2015-08-25T02:56:00

Holy crap this is polished! The motion and feel is perfect for a detective game. If it followed the theme better this would get straight 5s all across the board from me :)

The Virus by okmmjyygv 2015-09-03T18:10:00

Great production value!

a Spirit Awakening by StrayCat 2015-08-29T02:43:00

Bit hard for the eyes o.o

F*ck Nature by granut100 2015-08-29T00:47:00

Very nice choice of palette for the pixel art :)

Shifting by Vacso 2015-08-25T02:39:00

I played it through, the powerup lasts for too long. The concept is alright but 100+ mb seems a bit much.

El Chupacabra by marcosromero 2015-08-25T03:06:00

Controls a bit sketchy.

Illuminati VS Namaste by Zephyr Raine 2015-08-25T03:03:00

Cool concept, I got to a million before closing the tab. I usually dislike when people create space games for every LD theme, but this was an exception that was really fun for a while.

The Void Beast by Nichii 2015-08-26T11:40:00

That light going through walls is not appreciated =P

Rise of Nosferacula by vitorlanna 2015-08-28T01:14:00

The enemies just bummed my castle day 1 even after the hypnosis D:

MOONSTAHR by benmcnelly 2015-08-26T04:07:00

Looks and feels awesome, there's not much gameplay but the great tune and cool graphics left me playing for around 15 minutes just searching around. Well made. I would've rated audio highly, but for some reason you disabled it D:

No Harm Monster by lion123 2015-09-03T18:11:00

I liked playing as the "peaceful mosnter" :P

Stealth Yeti by cottontrek 2015-08-29T00:54:00

Very cool, I was hoping there would be more stealth games since I opted for one myself D:

Manster Ltd by burjandedy 2015-08-26T11:48:00

Kinda lackish, I liked the programmer graphics in this one :D

Legendary by marvalgames 2015-09-03T18:36:00

Bit too clunky on the technical side, the controls are clunky on the keyboard but it shows promise!

Flesh & Fish by metalchouchen 2015-08-29T02:43:00

Too crazy, I like it D:

Cruelty Free by dydx 2015-08-28T01:41:00

Breath of fresh air in seas of topdowns and platformers this time around :D

Village Mayhem by Windmill Games 2015-08-26T13:02:00

Very polished for the short development timeframe!

A Heart between Parts by LeafThief 2015-08-26T13:05:00

Strong art game, very sick for the limited timeframe! o.o

You are the munchster! by Fanatrick 2015-08-25T14:35:00

The feedback is appreciated!

@SoulGame:
Most of the time the winning condition is just baiting someone near the object you're hiding behind, then biting without moving and making sound. If you try sneaking behind targets the dark won't help much since you're making too much noise.

You are the munchster! by Fanatrick 2015-08-27T02:45:00

I added a youtube video showing a bit of gameplay and how the biting works. Obviously you'll miss the bite first few times, but it gets very easy once you get a hang of it :)

Angry Bull by Maxxim 2015-08-25T02:37:00

Proper ragdolls would've made this game really really fun! I scored 650 :)

A cup of tea with my Aunti MICROPHONE REQUIRED by Team Klappermann 2015-08-26T13:06:00

Effects made this very pleasing :)

Thursday the 12th : Lake Polygon by bossmojoman 2015-08-29T02:46:00

Very well put together, 5 in mood :D

Haunt by thedashdude 2015-08-29T02:47:00

Started to become very difficult after a while but I enjoyed it for 10 minutes or so.

Village by Pierce_Z 2015-08-28T01:18:00

Looking gorgeous, even though it's mostly engine based. Would be a lot more fun if you had more time evidently.

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-09-13T13:14:00

I kinda miss the point of the theme in this game. It's just another rhythm game. Overall well rated but I had to go low on the theme part, I didn't get to the 3rd song but I watched the video and I guess it was very cheap.

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-09-14T19:54:00

For my previous comment I don't want you to take it the wrong way, I rate this game high 4s and 5s across almost every aspect, I just realized with the positive feedback you got you would actually benefit more if I pointed out what I thought was negative.

To clarify, the game is focused on rhythm, which I find lackluster in this sort of theme. I said it was cheap because only the last level has anything to do with being a monster, sure you could say it was the drummers adventure of becoming one but I just think it was lackluster and some other setting would easily net this 5s :)

DragonScriber by Twinters 2015-08-25T14:31:00

Very well made, got to wave 11 before finally giving up.

The Jig Is Up by Odefus 2015-08-29T02:50:00

The dialogue and the low movement speed got the best of me. I didn't stick for long, but I appreciate the pixel art.

Abandoned Monster by BSODDevTeam 2015-08-26T11:36:00

Too clunky and doesn't focus on gameplay properly. Incoherent art style hurts my eyes.

Shark Swimulator by Karai17 2015-08-25T03:07:00

Not much to do, but impressive development values!

Fired by Evergreen Games 2015-08-31T03:25:00

Controls are a bit shaky, other than that quite an entry! :D

Eat Free by Team Myopia 2015-08-28T01:38:00

Nice tribute game :D

Home Alone: Ozzyla by TajamSoft 2015-08-26T13:07:00

Interesting take on the theme featuring simple but fitting graphics.

Pirate RPG by Ershany 2015-08-28T01:22:00

The art is just ugh, mixing great pixel art with programmer graphics like that makes me cry. Aside of that I liked the simple mechanics.

Kibjow by Zeriver 2015-09-03T18:14:00

Very cool, the detective sprite reminds me of Gunpoint.

Monstrous Bosses by Drauthius 2015-09-03T18:13:00

Pretty simple, I like the premise.

All That Glitters by cgmorton 2015-08-25T02:33:00

Very funny and enjoyable, even thought it's a bit simple on the gameplay.

Mike The Mediocre Meteor by peecestudios 2015-08-29T00:43:00

Very simple and fun, overall a pretty good entry, well done!

Scaring 9 to 5 by QuestionableQuality 2015-08-28T01:39:00

Lacks in the gameplay department.

AM I? by DruhinM 2015-08-26T11:46:00

Cool message for the drunk driving and monster theme. A bit weak on the development value tho...

Tentacles by crafteverywhere 2015-09-06T14:27:00

A bit too imbalanced gameplay values. Ships start spawning a bit too much and the damage received from them is too marginal for a mistake to really feel as one. It's not satisfying enough to level up and wreck ships like I hoped, but it's decent.

Groop by Demetz 2015-08-25T02:49:00

Cool tower defense game. A bit uninteresting turn on the theme but it's well made nonetheless.

Dark Entries by MechaTofuPirate 2015-08-25T02:32:00

Very good for the ratings, I've played through the whole thing even though it looks much more suited for the female public. The part where you mentioned the club was "bitchin'" got a kick out of me :)

The Days at Florbelle by kalinova 2015-08-26T11:54:00

I watched the youtube video at 200% speed just to follow the narrative. I did like the narrative but failed to see the challenge in this game. It was hanging on the monitor on the left and when I did take a glance the narrative was fine but nothing was really going on. The perverted things in the books are worth it tho, high humor rating from me.

Storm the Castle by MasterZenith 2015-08-28T01:37:00

Unfinished and a bit lacking in all departments. I see you worked on the mechanics much and it's sad you didn't have enough time to polish this up :/

I'm a Monster Rawr! by bakakyo 2015-08-26T11:41:00

Rawr >:3

Soul Hunter by Vaiaphraim 2015-08-26T11:59:00

This had a dungeons and dragons feel to it, especially the d20 hitting randomness.

Monster Run by TicZo 2015-08-25T14:46:00

I wanted to test it and give feedback, but I was stuck on the menu screen with nothing to do. Also your upload seems a bit wonky as you need to put the Monster_Run.exe outside its folder for it to work properly.

Dungeonbane - Dungeon Master & Escapists by Silverfyre 2015-08-25T14:43:00

Played this a bit with my sister, she liked it but I wasn't satisfied. The dungeon master is a bit overpowered like you said haha. Even for a Jam I'd go against the asset store, it's a cool project but goes nowhere near what can be accomplished in 72 hours.

Just Wanna Go Home by snarl 2015-08-29T02:44:00

The main character's face makes me giggle like a schoolgirl x)

Trouble in Werewolf Town by Dibasis 2015-08-28T01:44:00

The wolf sprite is very funny, especially when facing the perspective camera x)

Super Monster Escaper 703 by Brelx 2015-08-28T01:44:00

More gameplay aside of just simple movement is very necessary to keep this fun.

Host by Ferret 2015-08-28T01:45:00

Very cool idea, I wanted to make something similar but opted for something different in the end.

Deap Sea Monster by bumbu 2015-08-25T15:04:00

Athmospheric and cool, but is hard even early in the level.

FLCL Fight! by iplusplusteam 2015-08-28T01:24:00

Well done, good game about a good show ;)

Fear me! by NidzaKornjaca 2015-08-25T02:21:00

A simple puzzle, not much innovation but very good development value!

Drill Defender by DrYitMat 2015-08-28T01:20:00

Cool enough for the time you had considering you switched the game.

Tricks and Treats by Coruja 2015-08-25T14:10:00

Very nice, everything is smooth except for the main movement engine, which is a pretty big deal. You get stuck in walls a bit too often when running from the lady.

APT - Advanced Persistent Tabby by MagnusFurcifer 2015-08-28T01:35:00

Playing this with better graphics would be satisfying :D

Slime Hunter by Ardy 2015-08-28T01:33:00

A bit dull, but nice try, I'm glad to hear you learned a lot on the way :)

You Are the Alien by kakarotsan 2015-08-28T01:52:00

IMO you could've brainstormed up a better idea to go with a theme. There's really too many space games every LD just because people don't even try to innovate.

Fez propably ate my princess by komilll 2015-08-28T01:50:00

A bit poorly done, usually I appreciate the programmer graphics but this is just rushed to the very end x)

The Zombifier by axoona 2015-08-28T01:54:00

I'd say innovative but there are already many games that rely on this mechanic. Aside of that it's well done for the limited amount of time.

Aliensche! by HiVE interactive 2015-08-25T14:37:00

Amazing development value, if it wasn't a space game the theme rating would be much higher from my point of view.

You Can't Touch the Devil Game by DragonGino 2015-08-28T01:53:00

The menu buttons hurt my eyes. Aside of that I enjoyed the mechanics.

Global Thermonuclear War Simulator 1995 by jsbluethree 2015-08-28T01:55:00

This is very neat! Cool to know people make stuff like this for older platforms :D

BullShit by Meadgard Games 2015-08-25T02:17:00

The mechanics felt nice, it's a simple game but it was well made nonetheless. High grades in the audio and humor department!

Monster Olympics by lemer 2015-09-03T18:24:00

I wish there was more. The throwing game was nice, but I wish the sign that told you to hold space would've shown earlier. Well done!

Treasure Keeper by jelch 2015-08-29T02:48:00

Very nice, the devil sprite looks like the devil from south park x)

DECI-Mation by zodiacgames 2015-08-25T03:05:00

Too much content to give a proper grade. It features cool gameplay, but alient or space games tend to overoccupy every LD theme..

Bastetzilla's World Destruction Tour by LFelip 2015-08-25T02:47:00

When the Stars are Right by LTyrosine 2015-08-29T01:18:00

The physics are amazing, even though it's just unity physics I loved how you put it together. Wish the monster had more power to be destructive, whole game I could only eat the divers which was kind of annoying.
Really well made but the potential was a bit misplaced, wish the monster was more powerful.

Melody Muncher by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2015-09-13T13:24:00

Nice rhythm game. The graphics were just derivative works from other games, so you should really note this in the "Features" part. The music is amazing, but it's questionable to me if it was really made during the 48h period, just because it's so damn good :D

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2015-12-21T16:35:00

Great pixel art, I wish there was more to the zombie gameplay, at the moment it's like every rhythm game but with one key only. Well presented though!

Express Bonsai Cultivator by OddballDave 2015-12-16T16:51:00

Was really soothing. Really cool concept but no real gameplay besides being a sim. The game is aesthetically pleasing, but I wish the leaves didn't grow instantly.

Nice presentation overall.

Good little farming sim. Cool cel shading as well.

Light Drifter 34 by Thought Reactor 2015-12-15T03:17:00

Great overall presentation. The graphics were amazing and the puzzles were on point, although I wish the game was more balanced towards the puzzle aspect rather than being fast paced. Combining the two leads to a lot of trial and error gameplay.

Golden Goose by Delicious Code 2015-12-19T12:45:00

Edo Arena by PowerSpark 2015-12-17T17:12:00

Nice entry. The ragdolls are messed up but I appreciate the effort. I wish the game difficulty was better balanced, as soon as you beat one of the big dudes the game starts spawning 4 normal ones each wave. Overall it kept me busy for half an hour total, good job!

Bellows by TaylorAnderson 2015-12-15T01:43:00

Oklahoma Tempest by Fanatrick 2015-12-15T02:51:00

@amorphous
Thanks for the feedback. It has been patched.

@Thought Reactor
It failed to load shaders. If you're on a laptop with a dedicated gpu, try right clicking the exe -> Run with graphics processor -> choose the gpu that supports shaders. The game will now let the player know if shaders didn't get compiled.

LD38 — A Small World

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-04T10:38:59Z

I didn't expect to play it for how long I did, considering it doesn't offer much in the audiovisual department. But I'm glad I checked it out, 'cause I'm still playing it! I loved the details and the vibe (the line "n of your members are sitting on their asses"), humor was on point. Well done!

A Small World Cup by rujo 2017-05-04T13:11:19Z

Awesome! The dot interpolation was a cool aesthetic. The game has no sound whatsoever which is a bummer, gameplay is good but I'm always taken from the action when it starts getting good, and the goal screen is lasting too long. I don't like the constant menu pauses, if there was some sound I guess that would've been more bearable. Overall, I had so much fun from it but it has it's own downfalls and shortcomings.

Llama's World by fancy89 2017-05-05T09:38:21Z

Came for the llama, stayed for the voxels! :D

EAT by djfariel 2017-05-04T13:44:08Z

Nice, but how does this work with the theme at all?

A Small Planet by rayriver 2017-05-04T10:35:50Z

Kind of defeats the purpose of the "small world" theme when it's a game situated in the universe. The game is good but I don't see how it fits into the theme we got this time. It's very unfortunate because if this was anything else it would be one of the better games I played during this voting period.

Attack of the Planetary-Vampires by Rolle 2017-05-04T17:57:32Z

Very retro feeling, reminiscent of the snes era. Had a blast :D

Until Tomorrow by MSiddeek 2017-05-03T23:49:02Z

Very atmospheric and creepy, I especially liked the feeling when the wise man tells the player how he never tried pushing someone to "the edge" while slowly creeping behind. The end is also very cool, but don't want to spoil it, props on this submission!

Binary Glitch by JOrbits 2017-05-04T18:27:09Z

I had a blast playing your game on stream. It was fun, it was fast, it was thematically unified. One thing that was off was the bgm track, which was too slow (if I remember the bass was very repetitive as well). Gameplay was great, I liked the original take on the field slowly regenerating as time went by, but in the end my enjoyment was dismayed by the ridiculously high difficulty curve, almost from the very start.

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-04T00:20:01Z

Loved it :D

Small World Collider by tylerraz 2017-05-04T18:29:24Z

The gameplay was cool, reminiscent to DX ball DOS era arkanoids with a twist. I played and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I just wish the graphics were better.

Ultra-ninja VS falling zombies by gaspard 2017-05-03T10:59:56Z

This was too much hahaha, had fun with it but quickly became annoying. It served its purpose for what it tries to be. I'm usually more critical towards "Space" or "Planet" games but I looked the other way in this case.

No Minor Task: Party of a Lifetime by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-05-04T17:55:45Z

Fun game, maybe sometimes too chaotic with the number of things on the screen, but overall very decent. Loved the humor, although maybe a bit corny at times. The graphics were okay, they served the purpose, but nothing too great in audio-visual department. Very nice indeed.

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-04T00:04:09Z

Easily one of the better submissions I've rated so far. Very polished, excellent production value, I dig the video! :D

Diminishing Lands by drazil100 2017-05-03T11:17:27Z

First impression - the loud and random noises made me close it in panic <.<

I liked the movement, maybe it was a bit too slow for my taste, but the platforming was nicely implemented overall. Walljump being so limited is maybe not feeling good, but I can see why it's a necessity.

The autotiling and tile shifts were really cool, the way it progressively changes is very satisfying to see.

Overall the game was good but it became boring pretty quickly. Maybe if the movement was fast-paced it would alleviate from the problem.

Deep Bottom by LMG613 2017-05-04T12:54:31Z

I agree with a previous poster, the saturation and contrast from the visuals didn't really fit the game thematically, after reading the synopsis I was expecting something much grimmer and dustier. The audio department was fitting in nicely, but overall I was expecting more from the tension you tried to build since the game is very short.

Asteroid Hopper by yyam 2017-05-04T00:07:48Z

I love it, but feels a bit empty at times. Could've used more graphical elements, especially since you sort of tease us with the existing pixel art being so smooth.

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-03T18:28:01Z

Thanks for the feedback so far!

- The key scheme is weird, but it was made with multiplayer in mind.

- Yeah, we're aware the game can be beat by mashing the swing button and I tried a few things. In the end, it still felt a lot better and faster without a long cooldown, I didn't feel like murdering the action by increasing it.

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-04T10:24:17Z

I found inspiration from an old flash game called something along the lines of "atomic baseball" or something similar. Never saw Lethal League until you guys mentioned it, but now I can definitely see the resemblance <.<

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-04T13:21:41Z

@Jabba Your GPU doesn't support shader model we're using. I'll prepare a version that doesn't use shaders in a few minutes.

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-04T13:39:14Z

New download link update, nothing changed in the game but it now checks if the machine supports shader model 3, and if not - turns shaders off so it's playable (but way uglier :P).

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-05T09:16:48Z

@simple-blue The ball does get faster, that's the point of the game. Also there is a multiple ball option, and AI, I have a feeling you didn't play the game thoroughly enough :P

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-09T09:59:20Z

@sean-s-leblanc thank you for your kind feedback, although I'm puzzled how is the dome inconsequential to the gameplay? Without the dome this game falls flat, it makes the ball trajectory hard to predict. Our very first idea was to make an arcade game in a dome, it took us some time to figure out what we want to put in the dome and what exactly could reinforce the theme with gameplay and vice-versa. The game would clearly be very different if the characters were batting inside a box rather than dome.

Classical Conditioning Cooperation - [CCC] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2017-05-04T17:40:20Z

Steep difficulty curve, otherwise a very polished experience. 5/5

Exhaust of Earth by Lipsch 2017-05-04T10:30:49Z

Good but difficult, my team member had a lot more patience than me while playing it. We love it but we have a feeling you got too used to the mechanics and were tailoring the game to your gameplay, so by the time it was about to be released you were pro at it and didn't notice how hard it would be for others. We would love to see something like this getting a post-jam version.

Escape from Tiny World by KyTn 2017-05-17T11:54:22Z

Concept was nicely executed, but I felt the graphics weren't unified and the game sort of just played itself, mostly in a trial and error fashion.

One Small Step by Tetristar-Interactive 2017-05-04T10:33:07Z

A bit plain, but I guess that's how space games tend to be in LD. I wish this was thematically something else, anything but space because it kinda defeats the purpose of the "small world" theme.

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-03T11:03:31Z

Fun stuff, but yet another "space" take on the theme. The graphics are overly saturated, but it works in adding visibility in this case. Gameplay could use some tweaking, but for what it is I'd say it's the game's strongest point. Weak audio feedback, like someone already mentioned, but overall I was very happy with it.

Jetpackman VS Bouncy World by r8berto 2017-05-04T00:21:26Z

Feels new and innovative, the zoom out is really cool but becomes tedious after a while.

The SSS "Little Hope" by Vladimir Gordiychuk 2017-04-29T12:52:57Z

How does this suit the theme at all? You've done the opposite, it just sucks to see all these space games on every LD just because people lack imagination.

Planetary Garden by joatski 2017-05-03T11:21:07Z

Had fun with it, although the art was hard to look at at first. You're using a cool approach to drawing the decals which I can appreciate even though the graphics are mediocre.

LD55 — Summoning

VOC by cogcomp 2024-04-17T00:54:45Z

I appreciate these puzzle games, a two day jam doesn't do the gameplay justice, time constraints are just too much and cool puzzle configurations are tough to create. Well done!

Robo Climb by zubspace 2024-04-17T01:03:14Z

Love the physics although I lose my mind playing games like these. Doesn't adhere to the theme at all though.

Summoners of the Rings by Thoastbot 2024-04-17T00:59:14Z

Wish there was more to it but the overall production value is already pretty high for a compo submission. Awesome stuff.

Grishnek Legacy by D0vid 2024-04-17T12:03:59Z

All hail Grishnek, took him to wave 10. One of my fav submissions yet.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

MechaSnek by bluescrn 2018-04-27T13:17:50Z

Call him Kek the Snek and I'm giving this max stars.

Jokes aside, From the intro screen it was apparent to me that this would be a very polished game. Aesthetically it's pleasing and consistent, the particles complement the high contrast design. The shaders did it justice, especially the lighting. The only thing that tanked in quality was the UI which is to be expected, with submissions of this quality it's easy to forget this is a Jam game.

Gameplay-wise the game is simple but kept me involved nonetheless. Everyone knows "Snake" so few things like collecting power-ups and the grid movement are very clear from the start. What pushed it was definitely the shooting part. There's not much in terms of it and I encountered a few bugs but it's actually polished to the point where it's more than enough to keep it interesting. The camera however should see improvement. I appreciated the camera locking when the mouse button was pressed, but I still found it working against me half of the time.

There's an issue where the first enemy that explodes causes a half a second freeze, likely from loading the texture data for the particles. You can remedy this by doing it off the main render texture in a loading screen so it's preloaded once it's needed. Another issue I had was the shooting would sometimes persist even though I'm not pressing the mouse button. I made sure this wasn't due to me spazztically moving the mouse out of the game's border. Max I got was 32 before getting completely outnumbered and demolished.

Thematically it's alright. Honestly I'm clueless how to rate games properly following the theme this time around. A lot of submissions seem to be of games that don't really change in genre but on the other hand are a mashup of different games. So in that regard I'd say it's pretty well thought out.

Audio is sparse, if a bit lacking, but it's never crossing the line of being annoying. For a jam game that's a huge success in on itself.

tl;dr this is a very fleshed out submission, very polished and cohesive in what it's trying to be from start to finish.

Gone Clicking by hiki911 2018-04-26T18:18:19Z

This was aesthetically VERY pleasing! Love what you did with the atmosphere. It was a bit all around the place gameplay-wise though.

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-26T17:57:03Z

Really well thought out my dude.

Dachshund League by Lorthal 2018-04-27T15:13:29Z

Whoa an Unreal Tournament Rocket League mashup :O

This is very cool and could potentially go a long way. Few things: - Wish the ball was bigger, softer but lost horizontal speed a bit more to circumvent it. That way it would allow for more more aerial play to cover that huge space in the arena - Bonus pickups like speed boosts, etc. - Different weapon types could push it further

Overall an ambitious submission, wish you folks would continue pimping this one up.

Harvest Doom by Fiote 2018-04-27T16:30:11Z

My grandpa's farm succumbed to the lag of wave 40 :(

Wizsnooks by kroltan 2018-04-27T15:39:48Z

Took me a while to realize that disenchanting equipment gives health. Even after that I wasn't able to progress much, managed to only clear 2 maps and only had a helmet to my name before the physics ruined me by bouncing me straight into the lava. Talking about physics, they're very inconsistent and it drags the game down. Combining that with a very strict health limit makes it very frustrating to progress.

That being said the audiovisual quality of this is superb. Rarely do I see pretty much everything done right, especially in Jam timelines, in that regard I can't really ask for anything else, this is as good as it can get for the time you had.

This is how far I got before getting eaten by a dragon Screenshot_9.png

tl;dr Very polished audio and visuals, inconsistent physics drag the gameplay down a fair bit.

Action TCG by fanatrick 2018-04-27T02:09:13Z

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@milkShake @hiki911 You're both spot on, there's quite a bit of depth and complexity even at the very start, and while we agree with you, we also think that's a very necessary thing in card games. The very next thing I would make if I had the time would be a proper tutorial.

@siuler-lm The controls are always an oddball in all our submissions. Will read some neat books over the summer, or will masquerade it as "our thing" :P

@oxygenium It's done that way to make remembering the cards you queued another challenge. I'm actually not too sold on it myself. In fact, I hate it now. Should definitely be reiterated.

@auxc Wow, thanks a lot! I'm glad you had fun with it and I'm sure my mates are as well! Keeping it simple at first should be the goal, but unfortunately in Jams it's always a challenge to keep the player occupied in order to try out all the cooler and more powerful cards. The controls were Space Shift and CTRL before I changed them, so I'm doing the same thing but for an entirely different reason 😅

Last thing to add. We fully invest ourselves in jams and we always end up going an extra mile. That being said, our runs are always stressful and the aftermath is never pretty. I had work the morning after, the artist had a college presentation, and due to other reasons we were half-minding skipping this jam as well. We are sort of still recovering, the info page was finally filled less than a day ago. We will rate other games as the time goes by until the last day. I might as well stream it at twitch.tv/cavecoder. But for now I'm hitting the bed

Action TCG by fanatrick 2018-04-27T12:12:17Z

@Cyrdach Hmm.. I don't know what you mean? Every card is explained. There are only 35 cards in total, for a tcg game I'd say that's a pretty small pool. Your deck also starts at only 5 different cards and we thought that was the right approach. I do have a feeling it gets complex pretty quickly though, it would definitely need retuning.

Tetriphys: The Thing That Should Not Be by kr4ft3r 2018-04-27T15:45:06Z

Love the feel of this, kinda reminds me of old early 2000 games. Unlike others I believe the shake being limitless was a necessary thing to do considering it's a jam game. In any case the mechanic was appreciated.

Axe and Roses by Hippunk 2018-04-27T12:25:49Z

Holy hell. I honestly never wished there was more of something this simple. Honestly think if you did this thing episodically and with certain consistency it could turn into something great!

Dirty Pink by Carpin 2018-04-27T15:19:46Z

This was b*itchin'. I love the vice city groove, it's sort of reminiscent of Hotline Miami. It's quite a refreshing concept so it took some time getting used to like people previously mentioned. Aesthetically it's superb, rarely do I find titles with this much pimp to it, especially in these short game jams. Congrats :D

ASM Hell by vilix64 2018-04-26T18:01:32Z

Really cool, very reminiscent of Human Resource Machine

It's charming but it has issues. The BGM doesn't play until you access options, so a lot of people don't even know it has one. Sometiems Sanic wus 2 fast. Cherry ghost does no damage. Chess rook tickles as well (even tickles the obnoxiously tanky queen piece). Kongs seem to be the only piece worth a damn, and their barrels sometimes can't catch Sanic, cuz he 2 fast. Once I figured out most of the pieces were useless, I found a nifty bulldoze button at the bottom. To my dismay it worked as well as the rook piece before. So I had to keep my horribly positioned goomba wall and work with what I got.

Last thing to add. It's not really following the theme, but don't be put off by it. Like someone already mentioned, it's a nice start.

This is how far I got

I feel like it's just two different games mashed up to fit the theme. Also for better or worse I can't understand what most of the monster sprites are trying to represent.

This was great albeit a bit easy. Ramping up the difficulty would be nice. Audio would definitely do this justice, as someone else has likely pointed out already.

I saw the gif, I laughed. It's a nice minigame, the physics make it funny as hell. The audio is incredibly annoying at first, but it grew on me as time went by. I wish there were combos and I wish there was no charge meter to make the game more action packed. Still a very fun submission nonetheless.

Mine Your Own Business by Artiko 2018-04-27T14:38:09Z

It's a really cool submission and could potentially be fleshed out in the future. It's currently very simple but it has things going for it. The mining aspect pushes it a bit in that regard, and I think if you manage to make the fights more interesting it could turn out to be a really cool title.

Don't lose heart! I've read that this is your first finished game, so that's already proving you lots of things. Keep jamming dawg.

There's so much stuff in here it's hard to give it a proper review D:

I thought the rules were simple enough as they were, the description sort of explains everything..

This was good, but aesthetically (and for clarity sakes) I wish it had more contrast between the colors and background/foreground layers.
