A simple HUD would be pretty good.
What's the point of going fast? The police cars never seen do catch up and it's harder to avoid the killing objects if you're faster.
Really nice game. A shame that you didn't get to implement other of your ideas. I think you should lock the gate so you have to collect at least one coin to open it and the rest for the stars. That would add some challenge/incentive.
(I found a little bug. If you happen to get out of the pokeball while the trainer jumps in you, you both get stuck and all you can do is starve to death!)
I can't lie, this game brought a smile to my face. Really simple, but really nice. I guess you shouldn't have made they fly towards the player, but it's okay. It's diferrent. I liked it.
@Robot Souls Games: I see! I'll try to think about it for future games. The game is kinda dull, I agree. There was more features planned, but the time didn't really help me out.
@cxsquared and @mekuri: Thanks! I really put some thought on the levels, as for then to introduce the slimes first instead of throwing it directly at your face.
About the collision, I followed some tutorials here and there, but due to the low res of the sprites (6x6, most of then) it caused some trouble. More than half of the time I spent on this game was trying to get collision to actually work properly and in the end, even tho it's very very far away from ideal, I think it turned out okay.
@kaype: Thanks! I'll be sure to get some better sounds intead of recording myself doing wierd noises!
@OnlySlightly: Thanks! ;-;
@Keon: Graphics where pretty simple because that's really all that I can do! Haha. Collision is just plain bad sometimes, because I didn't figure how to make it work properly. I made only one (seeing red) longer level, and I can really see why it's frustrating (no checkpoint + bad collision). I see what you said about symmetry, I had planned different levels but had to scrap it all due to time constraints and they're kinda improvised. Thanks for the feedback!
@all: You all have no idea how happy your comments made me noting the level design. I'm so glad that I was able to show how the mechanics works without having to write it down because that was just what I intended.
Thanks for you feedback and votes!
Yes, please. Consider adding a skip text button. It's specially necessary on games where it repeats the text
One of the best games I played.
Really simple and intuitive. I love how when new enemies show up I know exactly what it does. The controls works and there is enough challenge to keep bringing me back. I'll definitely keep this game on my pc so I can play it from time to time.
The only issue is that running it on double monitors the mouse kept escaping so I couldn't shoot away from one of the sides but I just dashed away.
Ah highscore saving feature would be nice but it's really good.
Really liked the concept. There is a few things that could be improved that would make the experience a lot better.
Make the menu controllable with the keyboard. it gets annoying when you have to keep switching between mouse and keyboard to restart the game.
Make the mines collision clearer - Sometimes I hit a mine that was just too clear for me to see and that's really annoying. It should be clearer that they are there already to avoid this.
But I really liked the idea. The music is nice, the graphics are simple but communicate what needed to be communicated. Keep on working and bring your ideas to life.
Really nice little game. Some things that could be improved:
- Maybe the ship is turning too fast, I don't know. Sometimes it was too hard to control
- The music really need to keep playing thought death, this way not only we get to listen to the whole song and not the same start over and over again as it doesn't "break" too much the flow.
- The checkpoint could save the direction you're going when saving, this way you don't respawn in the default position. This is specially annoying in any parts that you need to go backwards as it adds unecessary turning.
But I really liked the idea and how you used the different shapes. The music is nice even if I couldn't listen to all of it. The graphs are really simple and neat. Nice game!
I liked the idea but the execution not so much. Some thing that could be improved:
- Gosh please remove the falling on the ground sound. It's just annoying and provides really no feedback at all.
- You should be able to go through the platforms when jumping under then, this not only makes you able to use then in different ways as it makes it less frustrating when you make a climbing part because you don't have to precisely jump in order to not bump the head in a platform and fall to your death. I really wanted to be able to play the rest of the game, but I couldn't get though level 3 because of that
Other than that, the graphics are really clean and the backgrounds are awesome. The image you made for the game though really doesn't help at all. I was expecting a half finished horrible game and got something else entirely, some people may not give it a go because of it, tho.
