For a text-based-type entry, it was kind of neat and looked quite good!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD33 → Soul Hunter

Wow, amazing to such a deep text adventure in the jam!
I was really surprised how much you put in there.
Also it seems I am a really bad fighter, I even had problems with the tiny worm xD
There's a lot of luck involved, whether or not you hit your opponent - and how much you are hit. It's loosely based on a d20 system... If you have difficulties to fight, check, if the dagger you recieved at the start is equipped. (+2 for to-hit, and - most notably - +2 to damage)
This had a dungeons and dragons feel to it, especially the d20 hitting randomness.
wow, thats a lot of content.
i was a little disappointed at first that it was not a traditional roguelike (you know, @ and all that), but still found it interesting nonetheless.
if i'm being honest i feel like this has too much exposition, and not enough gameplay for a ld. there also isnt enough explanation of what i'm doing and how to play.
I included a text document for an explanation of the game mechanics... Actually, it should have been there since yesterday. In any case - thank you all for your feedback, you guys are awesome!
Amazing how much story there is in this game! I imagine a lot of planning and coordination had to go into it to be successful.
I tried to be diligent and read everything, but it seemed like I went from "a girl with a bright future who suddenly has a strange hunger" to "well, I guess this soul will do." I ran around for a long time before finally fighting something, but I wasn't sure where the motivation for fighting was coming from.
Overall, I was impressed a what you got done! I think a little bit of creepy ambiance music would've gone a long way.
I loved this game, it was really innovative way to take on a text game, the gameplay was fun especially soul suckin' 'N lootin', it suited the theme perfectly and in an interesting way, the graphics had more too be desired (pictures illustrating the story even?) and the mood was set well through story telling. Well done, terrific entry!
LOVED IT! Didnt really feel like i was a monster though...
Found the Buffy fan. :)
Very well made text adventure! Quite deep with lots of options.
Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
Nice text adventure!!
It seemed like a good idea, but my cravings got a bit too low in combat and I could do nothing but try and devour souls, which made me unable to kill anything to devour its soul. I couldn't eat the chocolate or drink a potion or soul essence, so that wouldn't fix it either.
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts :)
@Flaid: I really did plan to create music / ambient noise for the game, maybe some binaural/white noise stuff for the intro, a bit of filtering to mimic wind... in the end, I had nothing but a boss encounter track prepared... and didn't even have the time to include that one properly, so I just skipped the audio for good for this submission.
As for the fighting motivation... I played with the thought to deduct HP, once your craving meter was depleted.. however, I didn't want to make the game even harder than it already was. Decisions... decisions...^^
@Fenreliania: You need to press "X" while the inventory screen is opened - this will switch between wearing/wielding stuff and consuming items. You can even consume your weapon or armor for a small boost to your craving meter :)
Well written and enjoyable to play. It lacks music but the depth of the environments makes up for that. The combat is interesting, but I couldn't seem to find any weak enemies to attack. The soul sucking never seemed to work. Overall, pretty well executed and will look forward to other games of the same style you come up with in the future.
