controls are really interesting and kinda addictive neat game!
Very nice art style. After getting the item in the bubble though there didn't appear to be a way of getting back, just an infinite line of trees.
super cute art style
weirdly interesting game
neat idea arm controls are really cool
cool implementation of the theme!
it crashes before i can start mating :(
I'm a big fan of games with dual-layered gameplay systems (such as X-Com), so I really like the idea here. I did find it sometimes difficult to tell if I was killing people or if I was saving them, but I like the idea. Would be cool if there was more to do during the solar system phase.
This is the next Ace Attorney.
monsters are terrifying
Worked fine for me in Firefox. Really cool visual style. I feel like it's kind of a loose interpretation of the theme, though. With a different control scheme I feel like it could actually be a really fun game!
super cute game! clever idea!
cute cat = good game
cute graphics and cool gameplay. nice little browser game!
super fun and good music but its kinda impossible after a while which sort of ruins it.
oh my god it is so cute! simple but fun gameplay and good use of both themes!
Very nice. I was a bit confused at first but once I got the hang of the controls it actually felt very satisfying to expand the bridge. I feel like the pieces freezing in place (sometimes at the last second!) really adds to that. If you have android export functionality in your copy of Gamemaker, I'd totally suggest expanding this a bit and doing a version for phones, as it seems perfect for the mobile platform.
super good game bonus points for cats also music and humor is great!
great use of the two button theme!
Awesome idea! The gameplay is fast-paced and addictive. Graphics are pleasing to look at and dammit Carl will get his Foosball table if it's the last thing I am tangentially responsible for
was confused because it required more than 2 buttons :/ song was pretty good though.
I like the idea. I feel that bouncing off the walls going left and right is actually more effective and thrilling than just going right. Very cool design!
cool idea good use of theme but takes way too long to finish a level only to find out there shall be no rain and my people will starve :(
Pretty fun! I like RTS games and I felt like the controls worked pretty good. The path drawing element worked pretty well, even if it was a bit difficult to use, controls-wise.
This was really cool! I don't think I've ever played a game that actually involves moving the game window around as a game mechanic. Incredibly innovative.
I liked the gameplay idea. Having individual parts of the character model get bigger with each item picked up was a nice touch, too! Graphics were amazing and the music is very catchy.
Interesting concept-good game!
This is awesome! I have a mame cabinet in my basement and I'm definitely going to be playing this with some friends on there.
neat idea! but pretty difficult having to quickly glance at the new shape set before every wall and still click the proper key. I would recommend keeping the controls the same shapes then start adding in more keys and shapes as the game progresses because its pretty hard keeping track of the controls.
I'm not sure how I started the game (I just mashed my keyboard until something happened, haha). Overall, gameplay was okay. I felt at some points, though, that I was aimlessly wandering. You don't really have much to go on as far as where the items are. The world did feel very large and detailed though.
@siege: Yeah.. I realized that after I designed that puzzle. There were a few other issues like that in some of the other puzzles that I unfortunately didn't have the time to fix.
@pogo: I found the box-stretching segments to be the most satisfying, as well. The long corridors were supposed to have some kind of story explanation or something in them, but time happened, unfortunately.
whilefun: I was going to have a checkpoint system in place, but I didn't have the time to implement it. I had a lot of trouble coming up with a way to make sure that the player brings the pink buddy with them through each room, but ultimately, I couldn't. And yeah, I feel like one thing I could've done with the time given would've been to at least decrease the speed at which the turret rotates. I'm glad you enjoyed it for the most part, though!
Thank you for the feedback everyone! Really appreciate it!
couldnt get it to work-downloaded as a .7z and cant open it
This is a great cookie clicker-esque game! its really well polished and the graphics are super charming. i have a weakness for cookie clickers so i thought this was really fun got to the turtle before my hand started hurting but will probably let it run in the background just to see how far it goes. -also eff that buttton
Flying up is a bit janky, but the mechanic is very cool, and you utilize it in some pretty interesting ways.
The sound design is very atmospheric. It was interesting, as well. The overall gameplay got a bit repetitive after a while though, as there's a lot of exploring without much to do.
Very fun to play! The three types of gameplay all work very well, though I noticed a glitch that would mainly affect the standard side-scrolling gameplay where I would be somewhat wedged into the ground, making some platforming sections a bit difficult. Great job though!
super cool idea and great use of the theme. the art is also really nice and looks very polished. the controls are feel a little slidey though
This was great! Tons of fun and I'll probably be playing more of this in the future. I did feel that the squares were a bit hard to place at times, but that could've been due to lag or something.
decent game a bit frustrating in spots where you have to hit just right but its a solid game
Congrats on finishing your first game jam! I noticed there was some kind of mechanic with jumping, where certain jumps were higher than others, regardless of how long I held down the spacebar. Might have been a glitch though, haha.
As far as level design goes, it's all pretty much one way. Would be nice to have a bit of directional variety. Overall, though, I had fun playing it! Nice work!
cool graphics and innovative use of the jam theme. controls were a little awkward but still a cool game for the timeframe!
not bad i like the graphics and the directions were clear to understand what to do. about day 4 my people suddenly started dying in the field and im not sure why my guess is there wasnt enough food im not really sure what happened. sadly no one survived to slay a mammoth. thank god processed foods were invented i could never survive on this paleo diet
very cute game! i had trouble playing it on chrome so if anyone else is having trouble fighting the first two dinos be sure to try switching to an up to date version of firefox!
pretty neat i managed to find out the name and cause of death but got murdered after asking about the chair they became fixated on. wasnt sure how to help them move on since all they said was want to pass on without offering any insight.
interesting take on a clicker game. i felt the gui was pretty cluttered and many of the graphics would layer on top of the informational text which was a bit annoying. clicking the slaves seemed kind of needlessly tedious having them run around and evade clicking was just kind of a pain.
the art and colors were really cool! The music was kind of bland and i muted it after a while. The quests were clear enough to understand what they wanted but i had trouble finding some of the objects like the tin and copper ore which i passed a half dozen times before eventually finding. i ended up getting the ruby and flint but got stuck after that. i wasnt sure what to do next there was a hint with the alphabet and i assume the etched stone by the tree is a translation but im sorry i dont have the patience to sit down and decode that :) good game though!
fun game with good music. its a bit addictive clicking the birds and watching them explode took me a while to figure out how to make the turrets i think that could use more directions.
nice little narrative adventure! i liked being able to interact with the items like put the cassette in the player but the floppy disc didnt seem to do anything aside from open a window so that was a bit disappointing. the music was nice on the cassette and went well with the games mood. the style was nice and the story was interesting to uncover so overall i'd say good job!
I didnt think the music was too bad-didnt have headphones on though. i did have a problem with the arrows having no effect on the big goblins though i peppered them but nothing happened.
i also had the cursor bug on the webgl i tried to download the windows version but the resource folder seems to missing. even with the cursor bug i tried to play but i kept getting trapped in that text screen and then after putting down the cube couldn't figure out what i needed to do next.
@Drumsmasher17 and @simple_blue, the trick is reading the darker glyphs on the wall behind the xylophone. We were very concerned about this puzzle being too difficult when we were planning it.
@olkeencole Image effects are a beautiful thing. I didn't know they existed until this weekend, haha.
-Jeff
@simple_blue, thanks for the feedback! I may go back and look into making some adjustments.
