LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Please Come Back by PapyPilgrim 2014-04-28T08:46:00

A small but interesting game. Very melancholic. The sounds are great.

Root cause by oal 2014-04-28T13:16:00

Thanks for all the feedback so far!

For the sound effects I used Bfxr, and for the music I used LMMS (Linux Multimedia Studio). The music was just about the last thing I added, and as you can hear, I'm not a musician. Some random key pressing and something called "Arpeggio", and boom, I had some ambient background music. :-)

Oligarch wars by enepomnyaschih 2014-04-28T08:23:00

The graphics are simple, but the game itself is fun. Good job with this one!

Dany's Room by Alexandre Szybiak 2014-04-28T21:14:00

Great visual style, but I was hoping for a little more things to do.

Wriggle Worm by gikdew 2014-04-28T16:55:00

It looks good, and I'm sure it'd be very addictive if it had some powerups (pacman like, so you could eat other worms for a few seconds, for example), or a leveling system. At least some more depth. Well done for a 48 hour project.

Fish Legacy: Beneath The Surface by Xeke_Death 2014-04-28T08:56:00

Great intro, it kind of set the bar for the rest of the game. Not sure if it quite lived up to it, but it's good for a two day job.

Tycho by markusfisch 2014-04-28T08:27:00

I like the graphics, but this game is extremely short. Either that, or I missed something. Still, it's a game, so congratulations with making a game in 48 hours!

Clean Them'All ! by Tipyx 2014-04-28T09:26:00

Fun and witty are the words I'd use to describe this game. You've taken a standard platformer concept, and combined it with killing germs and cleaning? Perfect combo. :-)

Whale Princess Rescue Expedition by zinfandel 2014-04-28T09:21:00

I don't know why, but I really liked this. You've gone with a "mining" kind of game, but still made an original and interesting game. One of my favorites so far!

Fish & Chips by Copix 2014-04-29T09:27:00

I died most of the times trying to get food, so I didn't get very far. But I like the idea.

Splitted by CodeHat 2014-04-29T13:53:00

This game is hard, but I think it fits the mood. Kind of dark and scary. The music is simple, but doesn't get annoying even though it loops very often. Good job!

Super Miner 2000 by ezombort 2014-04-28T08:39:00

I almost made it through. Not sure if I liked the rocket upgrade. It felt slower to use? Or maybe that was just because I missed a speed bonus block. Still a well made game. Good job!

Rat King by woodenrabbit 2014-05-17T16:57:00

It looks and feels really smooth, so good job on that. The gameplay was a bit confusing at first though.

(HTML5) Under YOUR Skin by luisfelipeart 2014-04-28T09:00:00

Wow, this game is hard. I love the visual style, it works really well. Well done!

deep down by Jan Peter (jpdev) 2014-04-28T08:33:00

Really nice cartoony look. Good job on the controls as well - it feels like you're under water.

C=AVERUNNER by MrShortee 2014-04-28T07:34:00

Great atmosphere. The graphics and sound effects are very good!

Falling by StrykerKKD 2014-04-28T09:30:00

Simple, but it works. It'd be nice if it had some music and maybe some powerups/bonuses along the way. Interesting to see that you used Dart.

To Surface by NeithR 2014-05-17T17:05:00

Haha, this is the first time I've played a game entirely in a PDF. I thought I had opened some kind of manual, but it was actually pretty entertaining.

Fappy Bat Cave Edition by laker 2014-04-29T13:14:00

Not bad for someone learning to code. Keep going, and code, code, code. That's the only way to improve. Good luck!

Swim by atterday 2014-04-28T18:28:00

Like flappy bird, but not as insanely hard. Not bad for a first LD. :-)

OVER/FISH by Farfin 2014-04-28T07:39:00

A simple game, but still very entertaining. Makes me happy!

Persona by GFM 2014-04-28T08:10:00

Very interesting concept, that fits the theme well.

Beneath the Trolls by Dreauw 2014-04-28T08:00:00

I really liked this one. The graphics and music is good, and the gameplay works well too.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Initial Conditions by reheated 2016-01-13T20:56:00

Woah, I decided to check out some of the top rated entries. This blew my mind. Really good!

Tama Battle! by midgard 2015-12-14T11:09:00

Ooh, first multiplayer game I've played so far. That's an interesting idea. Quite simple, though. I would have liked more than one way of attacking so that attacks depend on more than randomness. Still, I think this is a good foundation to build upon. Good job.

Frogtale by rzuf 2015-12-14T09:55:00

Good music and good use of the theme. The art is simple, but the focus on creating a story weighs up for it. You've achieved a lot in two days!

I must speak but there is only bongos by Ysty 2015-12-14T14:01:00

Very innovative, but gets a bit repetitive after a while. Cool to see games that combine both themes, and do it well. The voice acting is hilarious. Well done!

Auto Racer by ethankennerly 2015-12-14T14:09:00

I liked it. A nice progression in difficulty and the fact that the other cars signal before switching lanes works really well. If you crash, it's your fault, and not the AI's random behavior. Pretty addictive, but could have used a high pace soundtrack. Well done!

Snake Blaster by A.W. Apps 2015-12-14T13:54:00

Nice to see more multiplayer games. Mario kart battle meets space invaders. :-) Could have used some music, but at least there are some sound effects. The game play is quite fun. Well done!

Garden Grow by justinooncx 2015-12-14T09:28:00

Great music first of all. Nice power ups, and the controls work well.

Z4KM4STER - Zookeeper DJ by candlesan 2015-12-14T09:22:00

Very creative. I was afraid the notes would be repetitive after a while, but it works really well. It's a good idea to change instruments from level to level, and they all fit their environment quite well!

Space Elf by Farfin 2015-12-14T09:43:00

Makes good use of the two button controls. It's very easy to die, but the checkpoints help not making it too annoying. The transition from screen to screen is a bit slow at times so it's hard to judge what the best action is when enemies are approaching, before you start walking back again. But overall, I really liked the style and innovation.

Car Train by Duobix 2015-12-14T09:59:00

Haha, this is some flappy bird-esque difficulty you've got going here. Hard, but rewarding!

Potatiana Jones by Ildfuglen 2015-12-14T14:13:00

Haha, I thought it was Freestyler playing, but nope. Nice soundtrack and cool gameply ideas. The vine growing and seed shooting works great!

From the Deep by scorched 2015-12-14T15:45:00

Nice one. Everything is very small on my high dpi screen though. Good idea to use the same two keys for both jumping and running. It's still just two keys even if the two keys do two things each. Clever!

Terror Plant from outer Space by Tetha 2015-12-14T09:13:00

A nice, challenging game. I like that it's turn based, giving you time to think about your next move. Fits the theme well. Good job!

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-14T09:35:00

I got to one ending, some kind of music. I don't know exactly what I'm doing, but it was a relaxing experience. Reminded me of playing Flower on the PS3 years ago.

Yggshroom by Ghen 2015-12-14T10:54:00

This is one of the best games I've played so far. Not too hard, but still challenging. The graphical style is great. There's always something to do, and no down time. Either you go to the well, fix the machine or grow the mushroom. Well done!

Flower Power by RikkyPikki 2015-12-14T11:12:00

This was fun, and the music is nice. Good job integrating both themes into your game!

Grow Up! by sergear 2015-12-14T17:01:00

Good work with both themes, and I really like the graphics. Good sound too!

Accretion Disc by tgrehawi 2015-12-14T14:21:00

Cool, a fast paced Osmos! Pretty hard, but fun. Good work using both themes. And the art style is gorgeous!

Colony by Dust Cloud 2015-12-14T09:38:00

"ERROR — This project has been removed by the author. It may return later." :-(

Zombie Hammer-Smash Acrobatics by Khamekaze 2015-12-14T10:48:00

You're making good use of the theme. It's fun, but I think it's a little too sensitive when it comes to touching the zombies. I couldn't get very far, but I imagine it'd be quite fun once you get into the flow and fly past the zombies. The music was nice too.

Balloon Bullies by DivineOmega 2015-12-14T14:16:00

Something like this would probably work very well as a mobile game. Bonus points for using both themes. I liked it!

Wild Growth by Leon Möhring 2015-12-14T15:20:00

Woah, my favorite so far. Looks great, sounds great, and has a great atmosphere. Well done!

Micro Danmaku by makiki99 2015-12-14T10:03:00

Crazy hard, but it fits the theme well. I see why it shoots continuously, but I barely looked up at the enemy, keeping my focus just around my ship to try and slide past the bullets.

Chaotic Potato by drinkadriu 2015-12-14T11:03:00

Chaotic indeed, but I still felt like I was in control. The upgrades are nice, and I like that you provided a tutorial level to get started.

Pig Game by knason 2015-12-16T13:07:00

I like the art style, and the scream is hilarious. A kill counter and shooting indicator would have been a nice addition, but this is a two day compo after all. Good job!

Roll-Ball by mukult 2015-12-14T09:50:00

I liked the art style and sound effects. Felt kind of retro futuristic. Minimalistic gameplay, but challenging. Not bad for a weekend, but it could be built upon to add power ups and various effects when rolling on different kinds of tiles. It has potential.

LD35 — Shapeshift

QUADRISIC by oal 2016-04-18T09:29:00

Thanks for the comments and feedback so far! I really appreciate it. What I've found to work well is to try to get as many shapes of one type on the board by "consuming" shapes near the edges, then going for the biggest combos. Scoring high requires some kind of strategy, but I'm not sure if I've found the best one yet. I hope someone is able to get >800!

QUADRISIC by oal 2016-04-18T09:31:00

@wumpus: You can enable sound in the menu before starting the game. Music and click sound. I wasn't sure if enabling sound by default was a good idea or not. Maybe I should have, though. :-)

QUADRISIC by oal 2016-04-20T06:37:00

@M2ias: The tiles are selected in a diamond / 45 degree square, and any shapes within that selection will score you points. Not sure if this works, but:

__o__

_ooo_

ooooo

_ooo_

__o__

So if the piece you click is a square, then any square within the "diamond" will give you points. See the instructions for how many points each combination will give. :-)

Thanks for the feedback! It's really useful and good to know if I decide to take the game further some time in the future.

QUADRISIC by oal 2016-04-21T07:42:00

@curtamyth: Congratulations!

Subject 96 by wumpus 2016-04-18T09:40:00

Really good! Interesting take on the theme, and very well executed. The art is really good, and the sound effects are quite fun.

The Core by Syldarion 2016-04-18T07:01:00

Nice platformer, but I didn't get very far because I got an "out of memory" error, some WebGL thing, and the game froze.

Shape/Shift by GodsBoss 2016-04-18T06:27:00

A clever take on the theme. At first I thought it was a little generic, but then the shapes started loosing/gaining edges. Really cool innovation. Portals were a nice touch as well. Easy enough to figure out, but maybe some text instructions would be nice. Well done for a 48 hour game! :-)

Shifty's Shape Escape by grayhaze 2016-04-18T10:38:00

I really like it. Art and gameplay works well. Maybe this should be in the jam, not in the compo, because you used someone else's sounds?

The Amazon and the Cybergod (UNFINISHED) by Katamori 2016-04-18T09:15:00

Sometimes you make it through a weekend without almost any problems, and sometimes you run into roadblocks all the time. But Ludum Dare is all about having fun, and I hope you had fun making this. :-)

Shape Assault by thomz12 2016-04-18T10:48:00

Crazy! Art, sound and gameplay works really well. Very professional game for a weekend compo. Superb!

Casual Shapeshifting by M2tias 2016-04-18T08:12:00

What an eery experience. It works, for some reason, and it's challenging. Well done, and an interesting use of the theme.

Posthistoric Ooze by hunttis 2016-04-18T11:31:00

Challenging, but fun. Simple, clean graphics and sound. Good work.

Project - O by Blister 2016-04-18T09:11:00

I love the art and music! Really well made platformer for a 48 hour compo. Superb!

Pacifist Hill by wavertron 2016-04-18T12:07:00

Interesting take on the theme. Seems to be quite a bit of variation (plane, tanks, and the normal shooters). Good job!

Metamorph by RockhopperGames 2016-04-18T11:33:00

It ran a little choppy on my machine. The "dude" and his animation was well made.

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-18T06:57:00

Hard, but fun! Something quite different from the other games I've tried so far.

OBfu by zowesiouff 2016-04-18T07:50:00

Quite different, but still interesting. Innovation points to you.

MISCEO by crisp 2016-04-18T10:42:00

Hard, but a good use of the theme. Well done.

SUPER DEEP GAME BRO by Membrane 2016-04-18T07:16:00

Haha! This is so crazy and chaotic, but still manageable. Well done!

ShiftBlock by makiki99 2016-04-18T07:34:00

Simple, easy to understand. Nice!

Shapeshift by hildegarbage 2016-04-18T06:53:00

I took me a while to understand how the game worked, but with some instructions and mouse guides, that could easily be solved. The levels are quite challenging still.

Shoop-da-Poop by Dia6lo 2016-04-18T07:53:00

That was, well, interesting. A puzzle-ish game, but the graphics add a good bit of humor. Haha!

Tetrikado by mightymarcus 2016-04-18T15:51:00

I like the idea. It's like some kind of inverted jenga-tetris. Good job!

Block Shift by Templar3lf 2016-04-18T12:10:00

Really interesting concept. With some polish, this could become a great game.

Will it Shapeshift? by plantprogrammer 2016-04-18T09:07:00

Haha, the sounds and the overall look of this game! Good job.

Squarcle by bagface 2016-04-18T06:36:00

Good use of the theme! I wish the transformation from circle to square was a little faster, to allow for a faster and more intense gameplay. But that's just a matter of tweaking things. Well done!
