It's a very creative idea, and it seemed as though a continuation would even further improve its quality. My only complaint is that the audio was a bit lacking, try and add some more varied or additional sound effects, but the graphics looked great!

I was a little confused by the "totems". Seemed more like "trampolines" or "springs".
The big eyes on the little guys were funny. :-)

Very clever! Played it through. It's an interesting twist on the Lemmings formula and I really enjoyed it.
I also really appreciate the hotkeys to skip levels and speed things up (didn't skip any, but sped up a lot). Stuff like that is really great to have in an LD.
I did find the portals a bit confusing. The entrance / exit spin at different speeds, but I could never remember which. Differentiating them by colour would have helped quite a bit. That, and everything felt very zoomed out so I felt I couldn't appreciate the graphics as they're quite nice.
All in all I really enjoyed it. Thanks for making it!

Thanks for rating my game! Now it's my turn.
Not sure when I saw a game last time that made me rate 5 for Innovation within 30 seconds, but you did it! Amazing idea, which is addictive enough as well!
Bonus satisfy for restart button, this game REALLY needs!

Bonus note: replayed and analyzed it by trying various possibilites. I must say, this is a golden example of perfect game desing: small complexity, extremely huge depth. Problems can be solved in several ways, not often as it's intended but still working, giving a lot of possibilities to explore.
5/5 in every main aspects (O-I-F-T), and even Mood gets a 4.

Nice. The music fits the game too.
It would be nice if there would be some way to remove placed totems though. I tried to change one totem to another, but apparently the old one stayed behind the new one because the old effect still happened.

This game is really great. Fun lemmings-feel, nice mood and a bug-free experience for me, good stuff :)

It gives me a real oldschool lemmings feel. The soundeffects the ooze makes is adorable. Great little game :)

Overall, very, very good game. I enjoy puzzle games myself, so the fun factor was there for me. I like that you can speed it up, because once you solve the puzzle it becomes boring. Good game play idea there. Audio fits. Graphics fit the concept well. Story line sets the mood. Great job!

Challenging, but fun. Simple, clean graphics and sound. Good work.
Very nice game. Relaxing background music, neat sound effects and visuals and a bunch of engaging (although a bit easy) levels.
I especially liked that it was possible to find several solutions since e.g. a rhinos 'run' can be used as a large jump.

10/10
Lovely little game, I must confess I didn't manage to complete it! Was there a way to delete totems? That would've been very useful.
Great job.
You got me hooked to this game.

Awesome. Music is nice. Use theme and gameplay is also neat. I just wish space key sped up everthing. Not just spawns. Well done!

Cheers for all the comments, people :)
TLansdale: no, sorry, I actually thought of it at some point, but a few hours later I had forgotten :D I think the levels are short enough for the level restart (R-key) is not too punishing. I'll probably make a post-compo build and fix it into that one :)
Mantlair: I thought of having a fast-forward button, but the thought of doing that with physics scared me, so I concentrated on finishing the game :D

sol_hsa: I think that would be handy, I'll write it up for the post-compo improvements.

fun game! works fine...
missed a hint where the creatures will come out (startpoint)
zooming would be cool - things are so small
great job!

Takes me back! One of my earliest memories is playing Lemmings on my Sega Genesis
Really enjoyed this game, felt a lot like Lemmings. One criticism though, I would like to know which portal is the entrance and which one is the exit to the levels
An interesting take on the Lemmings formula! Took me a while to figure it out, but once I did, it was very satisfying! Did you ever consider letting totems change the oozes out of the various forms too?
I kept having trouble with them getting stuck in a certain form for just too long, due to placing a totem just a little bit off. I could see if that could cause troubles though.
I also have to agree with A Little Red Panda too, a better indication on where the oozes would start from would be nice too.
A new approach to a classic game. Well done!.

Good commentary on the issues with the game. I'm working on fixing them in a post-compo build, I'll post a link on the page once I have one ready :)
The "not changing while in other forms" is intentional. If there is an effect going on, the creature will ignore totems. It was there to prevent totems from triggering many times (they actually hit the frog totem like ten times when they get the effect). But maybe the effect could be linked to an ID or something in the totem. So the same totem only triggers once each time for that creature.. Definitely stuff to think about :)
RockHopperGames: I did think that an interesting thing could be comboing totems for various effects. One idea was that maybe the bird totem could be placed in the air, since it could make for some interesting levels combined with the fish totem effect. For the sake of the scope, I had to ditch those ideas, but now the world is open :D
Super cool idea but it took me a while to figure out what to do! It was awesome once I did though!

What an amazing shapeshifting take on Lemmings! Waiting for all the ooze to jump/fly with a confused look was a little bit boring (might require a speed up button), but other than that - perfect :)

Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description

I really enjoyed this one. The gameplay reminded me of Lemmings and worked very well. The graphics are nice, as is the music. The replay button is very handy, but I was a little sad when on one level everyone died and I did not have the option to restart the level but had to begin from the beginning again. A speed up button would've been nice, but just watching is pretty entertaining too. Good job overall!

Erkberg: Thanks for the comments and D'OH! :D I didn't even remember that losing a level takes you back to the main menu! I'll fix it in the post-compo build :)
I'll try to work in the physics fast forward too :)

How do I solve the first level to feature the eagle totem? I can't place totems in the air and neither that or the frog totem let the little ones reach the other platform.

Awesome story, and graphics of each type are so cool. Some stages have not a single solve that is good, but it really looks like Lemmings :P (I love it)

MINOR SPOILERS :D
Godsboss: You only need the eagle totem in the level. The eagle totem placed on the edge should allow the blobs to fly across to the goal.
They don't pop out of form in the middle of the air, do they? Does the game run fine on your computer?
Nice gameplay. I love the lemming style. Good entry! Please have a look on my entry, too.
Entertaining puzzle game that brings back pleasant Lemmings memories, but with its own personality. The post-compo addition of the fast-forward button is very aprreciated.
I would have loved to play more levels and I hope this will get developed further. Well done, congrats!
Ahh, thanks for the insight into the backend of the game! In 48 hours, fixes like that are necessary!
A really nice progression of mechanics and difficulty! Really relaxing to play, too.
Some of the sprites were a little unclear as to what they were due to the size (I didn't clock that it was a frog totem/transformation until the story said so), and I would personally have the entry and exit portals as different colours, just to make things a touch more intuitive.
I like the story and gameplay! I included it in my video compilation series of Ludum Dare games, if you’d like to check them out :) https://youtu.be/_jtEhCyw5p8
