This game looks great. It isnt too complicated and is a cool idea that is very appealing. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this game and how creative it was. Overall it was a very great game. 10/10 would play again.

not bad i like the graphics and the directions were clear to understand what to do. about day 4 my people suddenly started dying in the field and im not sure why my guess is there wasnt enough food im not really sure what happened. sadly no one survived to slay a mammoth. thank god processed foods were invented i could never survive on this paleo diet
Loved this! The first time I kept sending them too far afield and they got picked off very quickly, but the second time I was playing for quite a while! Still didn't get to the mammoth though. Great concept!
Feels like the early game of a 4x game, that's a good thing. Unfortunate there's a performance issue for the web version though.
The art is nice. Good animations. No obvious bugs other than it doesn't agree with Edge. I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of micromanaging the daily activities of a tribe. It needs an indication of what you might find in each tile. Maybe some stats on the animals would be good. I kept losing people to bears and such. Sometimes 2 on the same animal. I don't know if it's on purpose or not, but your cave people all look like women.
This game has GREAT potential. I love this type of game.
I wish it had any kind of sound. Also, it's annoying that the log keeps resetting and going up and back to the newest entry.
Overall it's a nice game, and the idea is fantastic. I'd love to see a more polished version of this.
Surprisingly well balanced for a LD game, felt a lot like the opening stages of Age of Empires or Galactic Battlegrounds. Especially early on, I could have used more feedback (graphical and/or audio) as to what was and wasn't working, who was getting attacked, etc instead of having to follow the text going by while things were happening.
Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description. (you can already find several games from the jam there)
I love the idea and the execution. Got a bug that stalled the game for me 3 times in a row, so I couldn't play very far. With a little bit of post-jam polish, this could become a very fun game.
Interesting game but it might be a bit too slow/complex at first. I would suggest to reduce the initial members of the tribe by half (or remember the action from the previous turn, and apply it for the next if still available)
I think Pierrec is right, the complexity right from the start isn't ideal, also it'd be nice if you could color the background in the color of the action they are going to do instead of a 'confirmation green'
If you'd color the left half of the background you could also easily remember which action they took in the last turn.
But nice concept!!
@omid: thanks!
@TeamKawaiiju: many cavemen died for your review, we salute you!
@tintreas: the mammoth has a low probability of appearing, but once it does, you better make sure you have your master spears ready!
@PeachTreeOath: we fixed the performance bug! turns out rendering a huge 100x100 grid when you can only see a couple of squares is slightly overkill...
@hermetic: yes, yes, yes! we ran out of time, but will definitely be adding some more info on each tile once you select it, and show different portraits for each of your minions
@Guennor: Thank you! We completely ran out of time for any kind of sound effects. it's on our post-LD list!
@DaleP: thanks! we are working on some new activity indicators
@steph88: will do, thanks!
@nille: we definitely wished we had a couple of hours extra to do some bug hunting. couple mammoth ones slipped into the release!
@pierrec / @geruhm: stealing your ideas! we were hoping to have time for a tutorial, but got stuck trying to fix a WebGL bug. thanks for the feedback!
i really like this kind of games :D it is very prommising.
In the screen the text area is too big, it should be hide while im sending instructions, also i dont know why but i managged to survive without gathering food or there was a bug because i always had 0 food
@kingpirux you can hide it by pressing Day x / Tick x in the bottom right corner!
Very nice game, cute graphics and quite well balanced. I wish i know about log hiding before playing because I've played through it peeping through the log and mostly on the top side of the map =)
@VolcanicGiraffe: hope you were still able to enjoy it! We are working on a new version that takes care of the log issue and a lot of the other UI improvements we ran out of time for!
Awesome! Like the best part of Oregon Trail with a turn-based strategy twist. Love the simplicity, and the scale! Downloaded the Mac version, but there was only a .exe. Web worked fine in Safari. Unfortunately, all my friends are dead...
Polished and very innovative game. Art style is also nice. I like how you command many cavemen and every one can be a little bit different. It's fun to see how your tribe is getting stronger and gets controll of more and more area. With some more mechanics / game mods it could be a game that players can spends hours in.
Nice game! I like your graphics and the game is easily understandable. However, I didn't notice that each cavemen has different stat at my first play. I survived for 7 days, but some guys died I don't know why. I think kill a mammoth must be hard!
Hey man, a very nice concept.
I had a bug (or I think that was a bug) with a deer meat. I had that there to be gathered for almost 5 days. And I was sending 3 ppl to gather every day. Anyways...
Cool game, something that could be explored... ;)
Very hard for me.
But I appreciate the graphics.
Turn by turn allow to think about what to do. You have done a nice work.
But I'm too bad at this kind of game ;)
Congrats!
It would be nice to have some indication which cavemen was sent where i catch myself wanting to change decision but didnt know who was sent where. Also you need to fix that info findow it covers whole game screen and i dint know if im sending people to hunt wolves on rocks. Other than that very good concept keep working on it it will be great game.
Awesome game! U could add some kind of help or tutorial :)
Nice game with cool art! I couldn't find the mammoth before I lost my villagers. :( Is there a way to heal damaged villagers or get new ones? Sometimes I felt that I should've gotten more berries, especially considering all the master baskets I'd crafted, than I got - I don't know how I can plan ahead in regards of berry amounts?
Wow, well done! That was an impressive amount of features to get into the game. The UI is very intuitive and the gameplay is a lot of fun. Nice work!
A competent management simulation. Fits the theme nicely.
A few suggestions:
- The turn end log should mention any settlers who died and for what reason.
- Settlers collecting meat should always visually carry something back to the village. Now it seems like they are doing nothing, while in reality the food amount does increase.
- Sometimes the settlers die on a longer trip seemingly out of no reason, i.e. they had enough HP for the trip. Do different tiles and actions cost different amount of HP?
- Played for 35 (simulation) days and the mammoth just didn't show up. Had enough supplies for the kill, but not enough HP to explore further. An explore command could solve that (costs less HP to move) or some craftable item with similar effect. The mammoth could also have a movement pattern.
I really enjoy these kind of simulations (reminds me of my first LD!). Good job.
Feels like civilization. Didn't play much, but I think it could be really good with more depth.
