LD36 — Ancient Technology

PALEO by RIPPorkins 2016-09-20T00:54:00

Feels like civilization. Didn't play much, but I think it could be really good with more depth.

Pen and paper by RasmusErik 2016-08-30T01:52:00

I really love the creativity, beauty and uniqueness from each element.

SOS Snake by Pyrofoux 2016-09-19T23:22:00

It's so hard I gave up in a stage where the screen is somewhat diagonally divided. Really hard, but the concept is great, and the stages were really fun!

Random Access Aliens by edve98 2016-08-30T02:27:00

I really like what you did here. Fun to play, and I appreciate the tactics feel of it. Would love to see more content, though. Maybe don't let drones and grenades ignore walls, that'd create some interesting tactical ideas. But I realize the time constraint.

Again, cool game, really like the feel of it!

Flying Flip Phone by appleskin 2016-09-20T00:49:00

Got 16 and got frustrated, but it's a decent game. Reminds me of something that would come with old CDs with lots of games. Since it's a flip phone, some polyphonic songs would be cool :D.

Dig Dig Revolution by LittleDoomDevs 2016-09-19T23:08:00

I really like rhythm games, so this one was a good surprise. Would be even better with some penalties when out of beat.

The Trade Network by scriptorum 2016-08-30T07:38:00

Nice game with cool mechanic. Was really nice figuring out how to crack it. Also tried some random levels, one of them was an interesting challenge (but still easier than the pre-made one). Really awesome game, even more so considering the time constraints.

Now, if you intend to polish it up further, a couple things in the UI could be improved. It wasn't immediately clear to me that the brown tiles were mountains, and I also took a little while to realize I could start from any village. That's probably because I was too eager to read the instructions carefully, but still :)

Oh, and a level generator that would ensure the levels are beatable would also be great! But again, for the competition, having a level generator at all is already awesome.

SLATE and SPELL by junt74 2016-08-30T01:45:00

I like the idea, just want to know other words to test

Defence of eSTONEians by TMAT Productions 2016-08-30T01:35:00

I kind of like the door sound. I think that the first level is kind of hard compared to the rest. Also, I would make it jump only after it lands on a platform, and not when overlapping it. Good graphics.

Guidance by Avalanche Games 2016-08-30T02:48:00

Whoa this looks good! Good mechanic, everything works, and the soothing music is great. I could play a lot more levels of this. It'd be cool if RMB would rotate the mirrors counter-clockwise, but definitely not required. Experience is great overall.

Miky the Inuit by publicidadeba 2016-09-20T00:35:00

Hi there. That's a really cool game!

Gameplay is nice, gorgeous art and the music adds a nice bit of tension! It made me think of Don't Starve a bit... Main challenge was not freezing, and orienting properly to find the same hut every time, but I found that time was much more than needed to complete the task. Writing is also really nice, and the touches of "Reincarnate / Rest with the elders" are awesome.

Things I missed: Some better management of items in the huts, I had to keep shifting between pages and checking what I was still lacking. And also the possibility to skip the intro text.

Very nice and cool game, thanks for it!

S**ON by jakatpemadi 2016-08-30T01:27:00

The music is kind of cool.

Temple Balls by SiberianCyborgs666 2016-08-30T01:47:00

The game is really polished for such a short time!

Ninurta: Granary Defense by kraiom 2016-09-20T00:10:00

@Jordan @Fib @SiberianCyborgs666 @Draakhex2 @publicidadeba @LittleDoomDevs @g12345 Sorry about the difficulty! We intended to tune that up, but ended up not doing it. And since we were, well, playing it from the inception, it didn't seem THAT terrible to us. We will post an improved version soon, and that'll be better.

@justinooncx Unfortunately that is a limitation to our rendition of the seasonal powers (in particular, the first one is a bit useless in the beginning), though we didn't come up with something that would enhance it without totally breaking the idea.

@Guennor @BMacIntosh It really is lacking sound fx! We wanted to add it, but in the end we were unable to. We'll get that better.

@HeliosStudio Most of the art is by Sparklin Labs, so we feel slightly like cheaters to be complimented by it. We do hope to make graphics of that quality eventually :)

@jakatpemadi We really wanted to implement waves, but it didn't fit the time, unfortunately! We intend to make an improved version with fixes to the main issues we couldn't address during the challenge.

@Bogden Thanks! The power meter and the sound were the top two things we wanted to add but didn't. We're glad it was still enjoyable, though!

@Pyrofoux The idea behind the delay was to sort of emulate the time to draw an arrow to the bow. But without the power meter it wasn't really clear... The improved version will have it, hopefully it'll be better (and we might tune up the time before the bow is ready to shoot, too).

@SuperPokeunicorn Thanks! We commented above on the difficulty and the art, but on the other topics: the flying enemies were a late addition that we believe made all the difference in gameplay. Healing would be an interesting addition, even more if coupled with enemy waves... We're glad you enjoyed the special powers. And sorry about the reset bug! We realized it wasn't resetting properly, and tried to solve it, but apparently left something undone.

@appleskin Our original idea was to be able to move around (we also considered adding some mechanics to make that more meaningful, like having limited supply of arrows and the possibility to pick them up from the floor), but being on ground level with the enemies made the gameplay extremely boring. Then, having a fixed position at higher ground made it much better...

@Yngvarr Without the powers it'd probably be impossible mode... xD

@euske Ohhh that'd be a great way to spice things up! Thanks for this. We'll probably add this to the improved version :D

@vicious_br Você não conseguiu jogar mesmo? Não tivemos nenhum problema com Chrome ou Firefox.

@steph88 Sorry, we ended up not getting to it! Is there still time? We could do it now, but in any case, sorry again to not answer earlier.

@omid Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed it!

@PeachTreeOath Thanks, we really wanted to make something unconventional :)

@RIPPorkins It still is sort of impossible, but without the powers it's too unfair xD We're glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you all for playing, and for taking the time to give us feedback. You're awesome! We're really glad you enjoyed our game, even with all its flaws. As we mentioned here, we intend to make an improved version, at least correcting the major flaws, and maybe adding other stuff in! We'll add a link to it here, and should post it on twitter too: https://twitter.com/kraiomstudio/

Village Store by euske 2016-09-19T22:52:00

Got a score of $565. I must say, the combination of the box fitting game and the addition was really good. I was impressed with my ability of getting some crazy prices right, and some combinations of boxes were challenging.

COOT - Council of Obsolete Technologies by LandoSystems 2016-08-30T02:03:00

I never gave too much attention to LibGDX. I mean, it's Java, isn't it? I'm not even sure about how it runs in a browser. Anyway, I really love it, the level of polishing is astonishing for such a short time. I don't even know how to start to reproduce that in something like Phaser.

WindPowered! by Guennor 2016-09-20T01:01:00

Oh, I played this one some time ago and forgot to give feedback. It's one of the most polished games I've played in this jam. Not much to say.

To be fair, I'm not sure about the upgrade. Is it good to rise faster?

Loved it anyway

Vitruvian Man Goes To Heaven by EpaceGames 2016-08-30T01:58:00

I did mine in phaser too, but it was very far from this level of polishing looking at the images. At the same time, I'm not sure what to do. I click the rock in the bottom left corner but I'm not sure on how to proceed.

Vitruvian Man Goes To Heaven by EpaceGames 2016-08-30T11:42:00

I played it now knowing the controls and got to heaven. Really fun game! I will watch the timelapse later, it's really professional, and I guess I can learn with a fellow phaser user. The source code is a great bonus.

On a random note, did you see Superpowers game engine? I was thinking about using it next time instead of phaser.

Alchimancer by vicious_br 2016-09-19T23:02:00

Funny how I was sending feedbacks tho who gave our game feedback, and then I saw that I played this game today when looking at the front page.

Finished it, it's real good. Easy to kill everything with the bow, and the giant is king of bugged with the normal weapon. I think the game has great potential.

Babel by johnbjuice 2016-08-30T03:08:00

This is great!! Really fun, and the music combined with the lava coming up set a... nervous/worried mood to it haha. Falling off the tower was especially funny :) Loved playing this.

Slash em all! by Yngvarr 2016-09-20T00:38:00

I couldn't make it turn to the other side, and I don't have anyone else to play with :(. It's good otherwise.

Ancient Boom by Jordan 2016-08-30T02:33:00

After another libGDX entry, I'm starting to like it. It's well done, I'm just not sure about what the anger level does. The games get harder with time? Is that it?

It's also hard to see, but I guess that's intended.

Proxima by edgeofcode 2016-08-30T03:22:00

The game is just great. Love the visuals, the sounds, all of it. The speed at which I get thirsty and hungry is unnerving! All the texts are also really cool, especially the "honour of checking if the air is breathable" :)

Would be really nice to see the concept explored more deeply!

(ah, I also liked that the only safe berry is the one that wouldn't normally look safe to eat)

Pyramid Breaker by DifferentName 2016-08-30T01:30:00

It's really fluid for a gamejam. I don't know how people do that, or if gamemaker simply give devs superpowers

Ugh Machines by DivineOmega 2016-08-30T02:08:00

I like it, cool concept, the sounds feel satisfying, but the UI is not user friendly.

Total Irrigation by cjames 2016-08-30T02:36:00

It's similar to one of the brainstorm ideas we had before deciding to do something more generic (we thought something akin to making the water flow from a Babylonian garden). I like the simplicity.

Key Adventure by g12345 2016-08-30T02:05:00

Feels somewhat nostalgic.

Tombed by SuperPokeunicorn 2016-09-20T00:09:00

I'm really into your game! Art style works well with the theme, and the platforming is quite cool. I had some issues getting used to the inertia, felt a bit weird at first, but was okay after a while. Levels are really hard, but doable, in a way that makes me want to retry until getting the timing right (I haven't finished it, though... got to the 4th stage).

Cool game, thanks for it :D
