Maybe include a list of possible words somewhere, or give hints to the player about what those words are. Pixel art is nice. Could be a good educational game :)

Yes, definitely needs a list of words. Maybe each time you kill an alien you get shown/access to a new word?
I think @Traf d-Lo's idea of giving you words when you loose will draw people into the game. Its not often that losing could lead to progression :D
@btwj_ @Traf d-lo @Will Edwards thank you guys! I'll try to implement some hint system on post-LD version :D
and what feature I coudn't implement is combination of objects. for example, you invoke "powerpellet(not implemented)" first, and invoke "pacman(implemented)" makes pacman stronger.
The thing is you really don't have time to try words. If we could type them directly, we might, but then you would need some diminishing returns or variations in enemies/outcome to prevent spamming the same word over and over.
Interesting concept, not very satisfying as-is, not very in tune with the theme, but could be worth investigating further post_LD.
I managed to find 4 different words. It was kinda fun in the same way as scribblenauts, but I definitely agree that it needs something extra to keep you typing.
I agree with everybody else that It needs a word list or hit system and different kinds of obstacles. I tried a lot of words and the only other one besides beam was laser. I read pacman in the comments and after that it was just spamming pacman. Has a lot of potential though!
The game is really nice, fun idea and nice to play.
But I didn't know what to write, so I only wrote BEAM.
Also the graphics are really good and simple.
I like the idea, just want to know other words to test
Love the idea; execution is a bit lacking. Two things about Scribblenauts: you have a very large dictionary of words to use, and you aren't necessarily rushed in choosing what to do. So you end up with time to solve a problem creatively, rather than just needed to solve the problem in any way or die.
Kudos for Pico-8 btws! Cool concept, feels like a learning game from the 80's, but yeah would be nice if i could type in LOVE, or HEART or similar and love happens haha.
