Entire Game on One Screen Original Title 1 by Derbdale 2014-12-08T18:21:00
I love that if you try to move out of the screen the window moves :D
Anyway, I think you should make this game harder

Anyway, I think you should make this game harder
Not a really good game. I found myself just jumping and smashing my spacebar
I love the graphics! And gameplay: it is simple, but fun!
I was playing this way too long.... Oh wait, I'm still playing it :D
Anyway, really awesome idea and game!
I think that it is too unfinished also, but I have 1 question: were you planning to add some kind of minigame at the end?
Do you see my old comment? If yes, don't mind it, because I got really confused by rating a few games at once, lol
Very nice story, but I don't really get it, can I do something else when I'm in her twitter/facebook?
Nice game with a really great mood! But it is hard to understand. Well, I've got stuck after clicking all of those fires in the right order. Btw, add in your game description for users to use control+mouse wheel, because it really sucks going up and down when I have to click outside the game for my mouse wheel to work.
Anyway, pretty nice game!
I finally got the ending! Really nice game, but I couldn't figure out that I needed to go to the top for the ending :D
Very nice style btw!
Nice game, but it's wayyy too hard for me, I tried my best, but I couldn't finish it :c
The puzzles are really interesting. Only 2 bad things in tis game: this does not really fit in thee theme(in my opinion), and music/sounds, I think that you should have those
Very nice game, this one is one of my favorites :)
It's sometimes very hard to change the blocks in the bottom if I need when building something. Maybe you could have added something like floating heavy cubos or something, just to make it a bit easier
I loved the animations! If you are going to update this game, I would suggest adding much more levels and making the particles a bit nicer.
For me the gameplay is a bit boring, but I'm not sure about others!
Anyway, graphics are really good-looking
In my opinion you did one thing in a really bad: theme. Im pretty sure screen could have been not moving at all, so that would be something
The idea is very good, but I think that player shouldn't slide that much, because a lot of times I died because I tried to move to another place and slipped
Wow, awesome game, one of my favorites!
Very dark theme, I love it!
Quite nice, but waayy, too hard for me :(. Good job on clean-looking game!
Fun, but VERY hard (I think my high score is 7)
Really good idea with the credits thing :P
But I think this might be just too hard. I finished game just by exploiting a bug :P
Nice game! But I thought it was not working on the Web, as it was loading really long(and with only black screen)
Pretty nice game! I have found bug though: if you press next wave the turrets won't attack the next wave's enemies, they will only finish the lst wave's enemies and will stop
Very nice game! I've reached 713 days and 11395 scientific data on my 3rd time(so I'm pretty sure I get 2nd place, don't I? :D). Anyway, you should really add more events and fix the scrolling bug. I can't really think what you should do more for now(or as you said, add some more planets, winning conditions, being able to interaction, etc).
By the way, why wouldn't you make port for Linux? Remember that you are using Unity...
Well, I am pretty happy about this game, as this is my 1st try.
But I guess that any game could be improved at least a bit. Just like @Jqmfg says, it needs FX's, a bit better player controller, and a bit better UI/explanation (mentioned also by @LittleThor).
Anyway, I think I will update this game a bit after the voting period ends, to make it a bit better.
Thank you all for the feedback!
Quite nice, but next time add some kind of sounds(use http://www.bfxr.net/ for best results)
I don't really get it how I should play this. And it looked quite laggy for me.
Very interesting game!
Great mood, great audio (but I guess it's not yours), great hit combo mechanic, and of course, great game :P
Why would you post only source?
It was quite crazy, because I played on stream :P
In-game UI felt a bit out of place
It's nice and all, but what about theme?? Where are the weapons? :D
Anyway, adding space bar between words would really help
Very nice! Just... A bit hard to understand what is going on... :/
A bit hard for me. By the way, where's the unconventional weapon??
One complaint: the Web link leads to a website which is not English and has no game? (Or I couldn't find it, as it wasn't in English)
Man, this is REALLY hard at first! I was not able to finish :9
Man, this is REALLY hard at first! I was not able to finish :(
Quite had to figure out what to do
I totally agree with Finn, it is really punishing to restart everything if you fail, and just print back to where you left off. Again, I was expecting to see a "detect liar thing". Sometimes the occasional load sound was too loud
Hmm, I don't know about others, but level 3 seems to be a bit broken, as I don't have space to throw that bow. Or is it intentional?
Gameplay isn't that good on train level(or maybe I just don't know how to play properly), but audio is just the best! :D
Art isn't too bad also. Quite nice game
Nice game. One thing could be better: I would like to controll my spaship with wasd keys too
You used Unity, why didn't you port to Linux??
Please make a port for Linux, because I can't play it
Too bad there is noone to play with :c
when the game loads it just freezes up :(
Same problem as everyone else: can't get it to run
yo, where is your source code?
You are using Unity. Why couldn't you port the game to Linux? (and Mac probably, lol)
I can't believe how good this is! It truly feels just like a full game. One thing that I didn't get: why does PALBOT have attack mode? It just feels a lot better to have him by your side so it's easier to dodge spells and everything. Anyway, it looks like you have been prepared a bit more for a theme "companion", haven't you?
But whatever, it is really awesome game, good job!
P.s. thank you for porting to Linux, it works great :)
I can't see the road on Linux version and I couldn't find how to exit if the game is not windowed??
I can't play it - there is only a rectangle where I suppose game should be, but nothing loads. By the source I think that you are using Unity. Maybe add standalone downloads to Linux/Mac/Windows?
I think that you did a very big mistake by not adding sounds. This game would be so much more with them...
Pretty much what everybody just said: there is not much space to move around, and I feel that I should be able to move diagonally.
Graphics are simple, but nice - his looks really polished.
One more thing: it feels weird when in order to restart I have to refresh the page.
All in all, a good entry :P

Really nice weapons! But the 2nd is a bit too OP...
@Chadivision thank you for the insights. I did upload a bit newer version of the game with some bug fixes(all I did was just compile the game on Windows, as on Linux Unity3d isn't that stable). The player shoots to the direction of your mouse, and you can shoot up/down/left/right - wherever you want.
Thank you everyone! Well, I have to say that I finished working on this game 1 minute before the summit hour. Only if I took a bit fewer breaks...
Thank you all for thse wonderful comments! Yes, now I really see the problem with player being very small/portal being somewhat too distracting. I am working on a post-compo version right now, and I'm adding stuff that didn't make it in 48 hours time windows/ fixing things. Constructive criticism is always welcome!
factorial, it remembers it even if you close your game ;)
reiknight, you can download the soundtrack on Game jolt if you want. Maybe listening to it a bit more will help :P
The game is wayyyy too hard for me. maybe you should port your game to Linux and also Mac? You are using Unity anyway...
Very easy- I was only waiting for the wave to pass so I could read what the fuss will be about next time - as citizens were killed almost instantly, and I had tons of cash
Very well-made game! I just loved the mood. Why did you went to Jam? Are some assets not yours or this game was made by a team?
I really like the game. The concept is really nice, and you really used the theme! God job!
It's pretty hard to understand how potatoes work. It's very weird that I have to wait for the cooldown to end, which wont because the weapon will run out of time. Maybe you should have at least have added cool down/weapon timers UI?
2 more suggestions:
*make camera bigger, so at least you could see where new potato has dropped
*add simple pause menu that would toggle with escape button
Says "You did" when you die. 10/10
Anyway, really fun and polished game, well done!
Very nice, but the button for 2nd(red) player to shoot is a bit awkward. I think it should probably be numpad 0. Anyway, thanks for porting to Linux!
I like the idea! But sadly it was not fun enough to keep me playing after the 1st try
Very nice job! This game is very nice: the mood, the gameplay... everything!
It stops working as soon as I start playing.. :/
I'm pretty sure that you can build for Linux with Unreal engine. Why didn't you do that? (yet?)
wow, why is this on the front page?
Very fun and funny game! This game is done very well, you should be proud! :)
Very fun, but a bit hard for my taste
Please make port for Linux! (and while you're at it, probably make one for Mac as well ;) )
why didn't you port to Mac? Just asking, I'm happy that you have ported to Linux :D
I did not find any way to quit the game, so had to switch to other workspace and kill the process. Also, the voice at the beginning of a level is kind of annoying.
I couldn't agree more with what jhell said. But still - nice landscape generator!
this game looks soooo good! It's a shame that it's Windows only :/
Aren't you supposed to provide source code if you participate in compo?
The audio doesn't play for me (Web version) :(
I agree with most people - there should be a tutorial (also put quotes on "Jaunty Gumption" in music credits, it looks weird that one song name has them and other does not :P )
can you upload your game somewhere else? Kongregate asks for flash - I have it on Google Chrome but it does not support WebGL. Firefox (which I have too) has WebGL but no flash since Adobe's flash player for Linux is a "bit" outdated.
If I were using Unity I would package up and upload all Windows/Mac/Linux versions and would add "(untested)" near those who I can't test.
Or just upload Linux version for me :P
A bit too hard for my liking
can you package Linux or openGL version of your game too? I can't play your game :(
P.s. If you are participating in compo you must provide game's source code!
Thanks for putting up Linux version :). Although it has _MACOSX folder in the zip - not sure why.
And now the game: I think that it is too hard. Remember that you play your game countless times when testing and have a lot of time to master it. If you think it's a bit hard for others it might be unplayable. Also I feel like the game shouldn't start until you press an arrow button - some people might not be able to read instructions as quickly (not sure who. But it's also possible that they check their phone while Unity3d logo is showing or something). But that's just polishing though :P
Also I didn't find any humor in your game - why didn't you opt out from this category? (also I didn't heard any sounds but that might be because I was messing with alsa mixer yesterday)
Everything is great but the controls are really bugging me. This could use some polishing!
Pretty nice twist. I just don't get it, do I have a limited amount of time to get as much score as possible or something? The game restarted even though I didn't lose(Web version). Also, it's impossible to lose if you only use the O (or cube) shape :P
Yes, my engine is open source (on GPL3 license, that's why my game is on GPL3 too) and is hosted on GitHub (so anybody can use it as long as their game is also open sourced with GPL3). I just forgot to add it because I posted this submission really late at night - sorry!
Just uploaded a project .zip where single 'make' command will build and run the game. If you are on Windows you need to have Cygwin installed though (not sure if MinGW would do it). I should have done this long ago but I was kind of busy. Oh well...
Sadly my engine does not support Windows yet - I'll get to work on it pretty soon though. Hopefully I'll finish Windows support until voting ends.
About the rules: it is said "If you’re using an internal library, to participate in the Compo, you will be required to share it." My engine would probably count as "internal library". But I'm not really sure, correct me if I'm wrong.
@Prudiiarca Yeah I know. I'm planning to add Windows support on my engine until voting ends. OS X version is not coming though - I have nowhere to compile it from (and compiling from Linux looks messy, I'd rather get Windows version going).
Also, if you're on OS X and have dev tools already installed all you have to do is run single 'make' command :)
@Upwily huh, I have no idea why would it do that. I'll have to look into that!
@remmy thanks for you comment! Yeah, the help page was a bit rushed and I forgot winning conditions. I also wanted to get something more done with score and gameplay but I just ran out of time. I'm thinking about participating with the the same (improved) engine on next LD. I'm sure my next game would be much more enjoyable :P
I must admit that there isn't much game depth. Most of my time went into making room generation (it's my first time doing somewhat proper procedural generation)
It's weird that it doesn't work on Mac. It builds and works on Linux and Windows with Cygwin. I'll try to take a look at it!
It's because I didn't have enough time to implement Windows terminal API into my engine. Who was responsible at Microsoft for not supporting ANSI escape codes?? (there's no compiled OS X version because I don't own a Mac or hackintosh)
Unfortunately the Linux version seems to be removed too :/
I think it's sometimes unfair as in the end it's impossible to go to a safe place if you are in a bad position.
Damn this looks soooo good! It's a shame it's Windows only :/
Very cool game! I was only a bit confused about where to find the controller
Really cool mechanics! Last level took quite some time for me. What tools did you use?
it's a bit hard to understand how you are supposed to move
only a Windows version? :c
Your "web" link directs to a Windows version :/ Can you add web/Linux version of your game?
for some weird reason Web version wasn't scaled properly for me (I couldn't see the whole word "Work" in the game). And since you didn't package Linux version I had to play with that :(
I loved the audio! Good atmosphere, decent gameplay. One thing I wish this game had (besides Linux version) is a nice animation of machine breaking down. Anyway, good job!
Cool concept. It's a shame you didn't finish it.
@Sun-Wukong Sadly no. At first I was thinking about making a few levels to beat, but I ran out of time :(
@Vaiaphraim at first I was thinking of giving some points for that (or killing multiple aliens with single grenade) but I really ran out of time - I was working hard until the deadline.
@DifferentName yeah the problem with aiming was not fixed due to time shortage. And !'s cannot be destroyed. The game thinks of them like walls :P
@amras0000 it does have numpad support, I just didn't add that to the game. When I think about it it makes a lot of sense to have numpad as controls.
Color is there in the engine but not for Windows so I didn't bother to add it to the game (even if I did I would've probably chosen the worst colors possible, haha).
And I was trying to add normal path finding but it didn't work as intended an hour and a half until the deadline. I Decided to scrap it and finish off things that were really important (like grenades actually doing damage).
Oh, I didn't make the the whole engine during LD. I made it *for* it a few weeks before it started (well, I continued with what I had since last LD). Did I say anything that suggest I made it during LD? English isn't my native language so that could've happened.
Gives error on launch in Linux :/
Error message if launched from terminal: http://pastebin.com/T6ZeHScA
Pretty cool game! I have to say that after a while I started cheating by placing my mouse cursor at the top of the window so I would know exactly when to drop the brick :P
gives me "k is undefined" error if I press E a few times :/
I have to agree with svyatozar that controlls are a bit akward. Also I found that just mashing D is a viable strategy (and sometimes stopping to geta bird or two). This game could do with some balancing.
Oh right, Runty has some sick tricks! ;)
Really well polished game, but way too hard for my taste :P
Awesome work! I too missed the ability to hit tab.
I wonder if you could actually make this on real Linux distro like arch, package up the whole filesystem and then tell the players to chroot into it? I think that would make an amazing game (I'm actually thinking about that for next LD :P)
I can't get to the ending (Heck, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just keep going, but clicking on different windows still closes the game). There are two problems tat I encountered: holding down the space makes jumping somewhat glitchy and that I am put to the new level instantly - I accidentally jumped off the first platform even though there was a file there.
Anyway, the idea with new fake windows popping up is pretty cool :)
Yeah I also think that key was pretty hard to spot (I figured it out only after looking at the comments). And what the hell was that body after I used the key? I'm not really sure about that.. Anyway, all in all it's a pretty cool game. Shame it doesn't have any music in the background.
Probably the best game I played so far! I guess opening the map and looking for games made by people in Lithuania was worth it :P
I also made text based game but it's not as good (and is played in the terminal).
So yeah, 10/10.
Great graphics! I think that latching onto walls doesn't work (at least on Linux) unless I have to get another piece of suit that I cant find.
Oh, and I think I can recognize that tune from one of my old LD game.. :P (here's link if you want to take a look http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-32/?action=preview&uid=45010)
Cool game (especially the terrain generation part! :P). But controls felt a bit weird for me (like why do I have to give orders to every single unit if I want to move my army?).
Awesome visuals and sounds! Sadly I find it pretty hard to play on laptop's touchpad. I think it would be awesome if you could shoot not only by clicking mouse but lets say spacebar too :)
On OpenJDK in Linux only the player character is shown - no ground, no platforms, nothing. I guess Oracle java is required?
hah, cool idea! The sounds make the game so much better. Also one suggestions: have you tried making the work day counter decrease only when someone is working? That would probably motivate the player to keep motivating the workers rather than defending from them :P
The music was awesome! Also the game was pretty hard (Although I was never good at these sort of games).
Suggestions: as someone already said background would have been amazing and I wish there was some sort of screen "You won" after you kill the asteroid - I thought that the animation would continue and I was pretty sad when it didn't (or that might be problem with Linux build).
Also I don't see how an ancient asteroid is technology :P
Wow, awesome visuals! I find this game very hard, I wonder if it's easier on mobile (can you move crosshair/player at the same time?).
Is it me vs everyone? I couldn't tell the difference if there were teams. Also it's a bit weird that you don't see the projectile/get killed instantly.
But if networking is working properly (I haven't tested it) it's pretty cool :P
Very cool atmosphere! I guess you could have added something to collect to make this more game-ish (if you even want to do that). Anyway, good job on your first 3d work!
It's pretty awesome that you made this! Music was great although I got bored of it pretty fast:/
Some interactivity would be awesome - letting the player change the scene would be cool (but it might take quite some time to do :/ )
Awesome game! Although it seems so long that I couldn't ever finish it :P
Loved the music and graphics weren't that bad either. The only thing that I missed was some kind of map or other means of navigation. Are that actual cities on the map?
Also, isn't it's a standard to measure everything against Debian and not Ubuntu releases? :P
I have to say I really liked this game! (Although I had to restart a few times until I got how to play it). Good work!
If I have to say which part should be improved it would be to make ui nicer because gameplay is pretty solid!
I killed 97. I guess that's pretty bad :/
I think it would be amazing if player could choose which traps go where before the level starts :P
Also I'm really sad there was no music/sounds - it would have made the game so much better!
Your link for "Windows, OS/X and Linux" is just Windows version :'c
Pretty cool, but I think that campaign gets too hard towards the end. I got stuck on 8th level :/
I can't look around or rotate on Linux version :/
Cool graphics! I too got stuck after a while. There should be some hints on what to do if you get stuck!
My god, I can't believe that you did all this in 48 hours. I wish I was that good haha
I get an error when trying to run your game. Should I be doing something differently?
http://pastebin.com/czbQQHs1
I must say that graphics are amazing :P
It's a cool game, although I found that the best strategy for me is to wait as much as possible because my brain can't handle that always changing delay.
I cant shoot too :/. And yes you should be able to rotate when moving because now it's really annoying. However, art looks really cool!
Pretty cool, but it got pretty repetitive after a few puzzles that had 4 rows.
For some reason FPS was pretty low for me. Anyway, pretty nice game overall. Would have been nice to see more randomness in how room looks. Also it was sometimes a bit awkward to rotate the paintings to get the cards from their backs. It was also not very intuitive to run into closed door to escape - I almost lost because of that! :P
Art and music is just great. I feel like the game is a bit too hard (yes, I know that you have made it easier already :P)
A bit hard to understand what is happening at first. I also didn't really understood where was I supposed to aim
There's no audio on Linux :/
Weird,I got stuck where I couldn't make one jump in time no matter how hard I tried :/ (also, are checkpoints supposed to make the whole screen flash so much? For me it's pretty annoying)
It gives me an error while trying to run on Linux:
Linux_Binary/Ludum_Dare_37: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0
I think you might want to give -static flag for your compiler or package SDL2 with Linux download
I see... Although this could get a bit painful if different distros started offering different versions of SDL2. I guess I might have to install it sooner or later to play other LD games anyway. But for now if you want to try to package SDL2 yourself I could test that :)
I get this error on Linux: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/90b4a6d368d0ced1e2c23ccebd613cfa
I imagine it has to do something with my openGL version?
Very nice graphics. Music and some more work on programming and gameplay would have been nice tho
Art is nice but I think the game is a bit too hard
The jam version is too slow. It's good that you have sped up the post compo one and made the game to be on one screen. Still, the post compo game page on my laptop looks a bit messed up with the menu on. Try out your game on different resolutions!
I'm not sure if I didn't understand the game fully or is this just too hard for me :/
I was able to stand in one corner and just wait, no one could get to me. Adding proper pathfinding would be pretty good.
Really nice mechanic! It's a shame that I got stuck on the second code door in chapter 2 :c
Amazing game, I really liked it. Good job!
Cool game! Although I think that camera is a bit wonky. For me it was a bit hard to control when W would turn left :P
I think the controls are way too sensitive
got 3/4 endings. Maybe you could post somewhere how to get all endings and link it here? (of curse say that that are spoilers :P). I also agree with others that timer would be nice (although it seems to me that it's actually how many "turns" you have left and not time at all).
Cool game! Though "painting" where the walls will be felt a bit awkward (the bit where the whole background is taggable)
Got stuck on Second level, don't really know what to do there. Graphics when in full screen on Linux bugs out, I had to use windowed mode. Also looking at the effects somewhat hurts my eyes so I can't play it for long enough to try to finish the game :(
Weird, the game says it failed to load after the loading screen finishes and tells me to restart. Well, at least there was that minigame so there is something to judge :P
graphics were nice but gameplay was too tedious. I don't think this game is form me
Nice visuals! also it's a cool idea to use tilt brush for graphics. I wonder how game like this would look with Vive... Too bad I don't have one :P
I couldn't really find a way to dodge enemies :/
Loved it! It was a bit weird to get used to controls but after that it was very fun. My best run was 5:50. Noot noot!
Nice, but a bit slower game would be even nicer :)
Probably the most polished game I have seen so far. Good job on graphics and music!
Wow this was hard. Some jumps felt just unfair :P
Great game, but it was a bit of a pain to play for me on my small monitor - the window was too large so I didn't see the bottom of it. I had to keep going to lower workspace to click on bottom buttons. Full screen or resizable window would have been nice :)
After a minute or so the game starts to lag. A LOT. (latest Firefox)
This game seems interesting. Any chance to bring it to Linux? (it uses Java anyway, right?)
It's a cool game but a bit too hard for my taste. I got stuck because I kept running out of time so maybe giving just a bit more would be good
I fell out of the world a few times :/. Still, this is pretty cool. Would have been fun to have a goal though (even if it's as simple as "collect X items")
Pretty nice game overall. Here are some things that I think could be improved:
- Difficulty. The last level seemed very hard while the first one was veeeery easy even with touchpad (second level was impossible with touchpad so I had to get my mouse). I think the game starts too easy and becomes a bit too hard.
- Timer. I think that knowing how much time is left until day ends would be very nice in this kind of game.
- Day-end messages. I don't believe it should say "fine" if you don't pass the level :P
- Background music. This would have made your game sooo much better in terms of audio and mood.
It's a really cool game for 5-6 hours. Congrats!
pretty unique game! Linux build seems to work fine too
Yesterday I updated the description ant released Windows version. Shame I couldn't do it sooner but I was just too busy this week. OSX version is still coming!
@sP0CkEr2 weird, it works for me. I'll add alternate link anyway.
@thedashdude
@thedashdude if alien touches the spawn point (marked as !) you lose the game too. I know it's not very intuitive but I didn't had the time to add in-game tutorial. Maybe I should make that clearer in the game description :P
Weir, I got one order which I couldn't finish. I'm sure I was putting in the right ingredients :/
best story ever! Also gameplay is very interesting as I haven't seen anything similar before
Can't do anything on Linux build :/
It's a shame that you didn't finish this. This looks like a beginnings of a cool game! One suggestion that you should definitely implement if you will continue to develop this: add some sort of cooldown bar that shows when will you be able to shoot again. Spamming mouse buttons is not fun :P
The graphics were nice but I didn't quite get the aim of the game. If it's being alone for as long as possible you just go to the edge of the map and be undisturbed for a pretty long time
ok this is pretty weird... I can't launch your game because the launcher photo is so big that it makes the whole window too big for my screen which means that I can't see the bottom of it where the play button is. Can yo build a version with a smaller launcher photo (or no photo at all)?
Wow, I haven't seen such a game. Interesting concept!
Amazing! Only bad thing about this is weird controls. Still, I got used to them after a while and had lots of fun!
The camera angle is very frustrating :c
Interesting idea but I almost instantly found a way to pretty much play for as long as you want: just go in one direction and keep changing the gravity. However if you stop something usually bugs out and enemies will get you. If you will continue to develop this you should find a way to discourage such player behavior!
For first jam and first time using Godot it's not bad, but gameplay is really lacking something.
Made platformer on my first try and made a decent game. On my second try I made MMORTSRPG and it was really messy... Pretty accurate :P
Hah, at first I didn't understand that this was pacman. Great idea! Although it's pretty bad that I could pretty much dodge all the ghosts while sprinting all the time. Also the game was a bit too dark for my taste. Anyway, good work!
I also agree that more liberal snaping would have been nice (at least showing where the piece is going to snap if you release the mouse would have been good). I also felt that after some time the game was too easy even on highest difficulty. I wanted it to gradually speed up or something
this would be so much better if fish had some sort of AI and there was a bigger tank so you could watch what happens after you press done :P
