This is sort of like a 3D version of Snake. The music is quite relaxing and fits the theme well. But my biggest issue with the game is the camera. I feel like I'm constantly fighting it, because every time I turn it re-orients. I want to see where I'm going, not where I came from.

Nice work. I filled up 42, not to much :D Logical game.

burnedkirby 2016-08-29 11:32

The windows version is too slow on linux wine to play, but I somehow managed to connect one aqueduct. Seems like a really neat game in 3D.

themightysice 2016-08-29 11:46

I didn't reach a single city and couldn't think of a good tactic, so I failed a lot. But the gameplay itself is nice and the music awesome.

Love the idea and simple models. Good job!

ninja00283 2016-08-29 11:51

Okay...
I didn't expect a 3d snake but,

it was great!

In the menu i was a little concerned because there was no help, but it worked out.

Also the...music?...did add at something.

So yeah to add up it was realy cool.

ninja00283 2016-08-29 11:52

O sh*t, the view that's my only minus...

rafacp 2016-08-29 11:57

Awesome game!
Interesting concept.
The music was great too, I was really pleased by the vocals.
It took me some time to see the F key maneuver.
The camera is a little bit strange, but I really liked the tile system you used, that made a lot easier to understand where you (the aqueduct) are relative to the reservoirs.
Congrats!

Interesting game, had trouble starting the game trying to click on things in the menu then I realized that I had to press G to start the game. :P

Also resizing the window with the config file works great. Music and singing were a nice touch to really get in the mood of building aqueducts.

The mechanic of the game is interesting. The controls are a bit wonky, if you press a button down for the fraction of a second too long, you will do a 360 degree turn and crash into yourself. Also, because the map is randomized, you can start in a position, where you are pretty much already screwed, right into a mountain side. However, I love the concept :) And the music is fantastic as well. My game also features aqueducts, but I like your mechanic with them better actually.
PS: A version that is not 200MB without dependencies would be nice ;)

Great Idea ,Good job

edve98 2016-08-29 21:21

Awesome game! Although it seems so long that I couldn't ever finish it :P

Loved the music and graphics weren't that bad either. The only thing that I missed was some kind of map or other means of navigation. Are that actual cities on the map?

Also, isn't it's a standard to measure everything against Debian and not Ubuntu releases? :P

blinry 2016-08-29 21:46

We really enjoyed this, cool interpretation of the theme! We liked how the music syncs up to the movement, and learning the rules by trying everything out! Also, we discovered the "F" key just after connecting to the first city. At first, the game seemed hard, but with a little practice it got a lot easier! Possible bug: Although we connected to a "highlighted" basin in the center of the city, the ending screen showed "0 cities connected" - were we supposed to do something else? Nicely-done intro screen/logo, as well! :)

Thanks for playing "20000 Pixels Into The Sea" and giving such detailed feedback! <3

Pretty neat. did you create the graphics in Panda?

leondryaso 2016-08-30 11:49

I love the idea and gameplay, the orientation is a bit difficult and the GUI could be better.

eott 2016-08-30 15:14

This is a lovely idea and the execution is fine too, though a better overview over the terrain while "snaking" would probably help. Keep up the good work! :)

glokon 2016-09-01 16:17

I like the simple idea, I feel that you could have changed the controls a bit. I like the art style of the characters really simple Good job.

glokon 2016-09-01 16:21

lol forget the comment I did above it was for another game my mistake XD

anyway for this game I did like the idea it reminded me of snake but in a new idea, it was hard to control until I got the hang of it, really good concept and art style well done

hermetic 2016-09-03 02:24

The idea is really good; very thematic. The controls were a little touchy but worked. 3d snake game is a good idea. It really needs some more feedback when you are too low, or some indication of alignment with the openings on the water troughs. The music was great.
Well done.

puppetmaster 2016-09-16 20:15

Very relaxing game!
The background music fits the game theme. Congrats!
Keep up the good work.

I liked it a lot, about the only problem I had was that it was pretty laggy for me, but that might have been my computer's fault. Also it wanted to go bigger than fullscreen so I had to mess with it. Fun game though and if it played a bit smoother and a bit faster I think it would be really good. If you could somehow do a 2D overhead version (that still had a height dimension) I think it would be an awesome tablet game.

Score: (because I like scores)
Overall 4/5
Innovation 3/5
Fun 4/5
Theme 4/5
Graphics 2/5
Audio 3/5
Humor 0/5
Mood 3/5

@AWOL nope, it's all blender. I had to cut back on a lot of the fancy near the end because I'm apparently awful at texturing. Panda's pretty good at dynamic geometry but with the 29 hour time limit I didn't think I'd have the time.
@joe40001 You know how it is with optimization and ludum dare :P I'm wondering how you'd imagine representing the vertical axis on a 2D game.

fraanns 2016-09-18 13:39

cool game. It was a bit hard and the UI could have been improved a bit but still, it was a cool game. And the music is awesome!

joe40001 2016-09-19 06:03

@amras0000 to represent it in 2D maybe you could just have a number with the height above each tile and you can just see the highest tile in each spot that is at the same height or below your current position (basically if you drop below a path the path becomes invisible)
