LD30 — Connected Worlds

Doki Doki Planet by Moonkis 2014-08-26T18:48:00

A really nice little game, I was looking forward to play it when you showed your progress in the chat. The visuals are very clean, I like that. Unfortunately there seems to be something wrong with the randomizer when go exploring as the game sometimes throws an error when going on an adventure (see PERECil's comment)

Shattered by ThatSamu 2014-08-25T18:31:00

I didn't know how much fun it is to carefully put together shards before I played this game. With a bit of music in the background this would have been even better.

Steamed Worlds by chocobyte 2014-08-27T18:25:00

Unfortunately almost unplayabale for me. The game had consistently 4fps or less and I'm certain it's not due to lacking hardware. However the visuals are very sharp and clear, I like that.

Drop of Light by Snuux 2014-08-25T18:08:00

I could not quite get the hang of controlling the ball with the tail, but from how far I got it looks like a fun little game. The "in place" tutorial is a nice touch.

Yggdrasil by rex64 2014-08-29T19:21:00

Nice game, it has surprising depth due to the "progression shift" mechanic. As others I first thought that's a bug, but it's a feature alright.

Steel Saviour by Aifryz 2014-08-29T16:18:00

Nice touch with the link to the real world and I had to laugh a bit at the enemy AI, as it produced some unintentional humor when mirroring the player movement.

Tiles at the Juncture by porglezomp 2014-09-15T18:31:00

I like the design, it's very clean and communicates the gameplay well. I even found a bit of unintended humor, when the tiles got a bit crooked and glitched out: http://imgur.com/1x8LhoM

Two Lonely Robots by Simon@LD 2014-08-26T18:29:00

Wow, that is a really great game, not just because it was made during the jam. With the right polish (I am looking at you, weird jumping physics) and more levels, I'd say that's a game worth spending money on.

Disconnected Keyboard by Aomeas 2014-08-27T18:00:00

I think I'll never write a movement script again without thinking about this fun little game.

A Ludic Proof of the Difficulties Inherent in Finding a Proper Skull by JackDegree 2014-08-29T16:38:00

It's good to know that text adventures are still alive and kicking.

A Dance of Fire And Ice by fizzd 2014-08-25T19:02:00

Great game! Like you realized, the game is a bit unforgiving, but fun nonetheless.

Bridge to the Moon by Zigsfi 2014-08-25T18:00:00

I felt the enemies distracted too much from the goal of the game. I never got any progress done on the connecting part. But I liked the comic(y) visuals.

Worlds Collide by Rage Paint 2014-08-30T10:48:00

Nice game, clear gameplay and pretty graphics.

Out Of Place by HisShoes 2014-08-30T14:41:00

A great game! The colors, the graphic style and the audio are all solid. My only gripe are the controls. I can't count how many times I switched worlds when I actually wanted to jump. Also the "running start" to jumping wasn't always consistently working like expected.

Der Klappermann by Team Klappermann 2014-08-26T19:19:00

Note to self: Do not dash into trees.
Amazing game and very atmospheric.

Into Hyperspace! by eott 2014-09-15T18:36:00

*wave* Hi porglezomp, I bet you saved me a solid hour with your help.

Thanks for the feedback to all of you. Next time I definitely know what to look out for... if I can translate this to other games.

Operation Ad-Hawk by Clyde 2014-08-25T18:44:00

The game glitched out on me on the last level (a lone dachshund cornered me after I used him to catapult me upstairs again), but it was fun get so far. The music got a bit repetitive, but it was still bearable.

Alice Anxiety by jukimv1986 2014-08-29T16:59:00

This game has really potential, but I suppose the limited timeframe made it impossible to expand it further. I really liked the mood and music, but I wish it would have been more clear that you can walk around while dreaming.

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-13T14:13:00

Terrific game. These two minutes stretched across half an hour until I gave up (the inertia combined with the hitbox was too much for me, though the post-compo probably fixes that). Almost made it through, so the difficulty is right on the spot.

Gunship Diplomacy by blubberquark 2014-08-27T18:10:00

Great game, I really like how dynamic the game really is. Alliances and may switch at the drop of a hat and even the battlefield changes (in contrast to be conquered by the player alone as in so many games).

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Sugar Shot by Anakiro 2015-04-20T19:27:00

Let's start with the best part of this game: It's finished. No seriously, don't get me wrong. That's what Ludum Dare is all about: Finishing a game. You should be proud that you started to make a game and have seen it to the end.

That being said, the controls need to be much more responsive to player input, which is important for platformers.

The game is also a bit short, but that's as much a result of being created in a very limited timeframe as it is of anything else.

Overall, don't be disappointed if you feel like you only got the participation medal. Don't tell the winners, but that medal is far more important than the other ones.

Lollihop by Hemuuuli 2015-04-21T16:16:00

Gorgeous game, I love the art style.

I know that a controller is recommended, but the game is almost unplayable on a non-QWERTY keyboard layout, so I'd say it is mandatory. The camera, despite the options to look around, could have been at a better angle. It was very difficult to judge distances.

Overall, good work!

Super Vegetables by Yakka 2015-04-22T18:51:00

111 points, because that's a nice number to lose to. Interesting concept, nice game.

Space Boy by Hyoga-3D 2015-04-21T16:50:00

A great game, not just for being made during LD, but in general. Unfortunately I could not see much of the theme in this game.

Into The Fray by Naked_Samurai 2015-04-25T08:41:00

Short, but sweet.

I think it would have helped understanding if instead of just the node the whole blocked path would grayed out. The nodes look like gates, but actually just block the entrance to a path.

I really liked how crisp clear the graphics were. Looks like a UI professional was at work.

Revenge of the Clones by BraindeadGeo 2015-04-21T16:01:00

Nice concept and I like the over-the-top gore levels, especially when the view zooms back across the level at the end. THe controls need a bit love though.

carena by TomBoogaart 2015-04-21T16:24:00

Aaahh, what's happening?! Oh right, nice game. Very, very fast-paced.

IFF by eott 2015-04-20T18:13:00

@cgmorton

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, most of the issues can be attributed to time constraints. Colliding bullets with walls was a huge performance drain and I couldn't figure out how to fix it in time.

IFF by eott 2015-04-22T18:21:00

Thanks for all the feedback fellow LDarists!

I guess I should have made the limit of three conversions much clearer, but I think three is about the right amount. Any more and the game becomes laughably easy. Still, I'll consider it if I make a post-LD version.

Candy Factory Simulator 2015 by Eggplant 2015-04-25T08:31:00

I could not run the packaged version, but I was able to run the python "raw" with python 3.3 + pygame, strangely enough.

I liked the concept and the game played well and feature-complete (for an LD game, I mean). Unfortunately the game explained itself rather poorly and seemed unbalanced. Eventually I figured out the relationships between the stats and the buy options, but a short info screen or tutorial was amiss. I realize the timeframe probably forbade it.

The pixel art for the factory was kinda cute, but scaled up too much, I'd have prefered a smaller view for the factory and the stats being more cleanly organized.

The sounds were okay, but the music stopped after switching to the ingame view and only played on the title screen. A bummer, because it's good.

Overall I'd say a solid game, that would have been a good game with a few turns and tweaks.

The N.I.D. Project by Somnium 2015-04-25T14:15:00

The game could have been a bit longer and more challenging, but I do like the concept. Nice work.

The Rock the Paper and the Scissors by BIZM 2015-04-25T14:07:00

Absolutely amazing. I don't find any flaw with this.

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-22T18:18:00

I really like the mechanic of moving to grow big. I would have liked a bigger and more varied level, but given the time constraint it's better than nothing. Nice game!

Umbrellespionage by Ilseroth 2015-04-20T19:17:00

Wow, what a great game! I could easily see this becoming a full-fledged game. The art style is thematic and consistent, which makes it just as good as highpoly textured models.

Zombinball by PanKamil 2015-04-25T13:44:00

Great game! It's funny and well made. Unfortunately the starting corridor has a slight bump which causes the ball to jump over the paddles. Other than that, the controls worked fine.

Kill 'em With Kindness by DaveCarlile 2015-04-22T18:42:00

Awesome concept, solid execution and witty dialogue. I like it!

Sometimes it felt a bit random as to what was effective and what not and I wish there was a checkpoint. Still, overall a great game.

Seismic weapon city destruction by tito2b 2015-04-20T18:51:00

Nice game. Two game modes for the price of one!

The destruction sound was very satisfying and the music not too bad either. I agree that the text was a bit hard to read, but I know how difficult text can be with C++ frameworks.

NO TIME TO EXPLAIN: GET IN THE LLAMA by Nidar 2015-04-21T16:32:00

Unconventional weapon? Try unconventional arsenal. Very silly, but fun.

Ants by cgmorton 2015-04-20T18:26:00

Oh, I like this concept!

At first I didn't think the levels would be all that different and challenging, but just the different types of sprayable surfaces made it worthwhile to continue to play past the first level. Good work!

Black Hole Cat(sun) by 2ndHatch 2015-04-20T18:56:00

What a silly game :)

The sound effects were very nice, especially when hitting the cats with the broom. Though I suspect hitting them did not do all that much to delay the unstoppable advance of the Cat Of Doom. Still fun.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Elixir by rupazero 2016-04-18T20:05:00

I really like the mood of the game/story. The infernal language is an interesting feature too.

Subject 74 by chobrah 2016-04-18T11:53:00

Surprisingly complete for a compo entry, nicely done.

Shifty's Shape Escape by grayhaze 2016-04-23T14:53:00

Nice idea, solid execution. I like how it gets faster and faster so the last stretch is also the hardest. Keeps the player coming back for another round ;)

(Mono no) Aware by ThommazK 2016-04-23T14:46:00

Lovely artwork, great mood. Overall, nice game! :)

TerraShift by Leon Möhring 2016-04-18T14:05:00

Wow, what a great game. :)
It's very fun to play, trying to make the most of the given cards and fighting off monsters with godly fury.

Public Opinion by Finn Stokes 2016-04-25T16:49:00

Ha, I like the clever interpretation of shapeshift and I also love simulation-type games. Well done!

Zophon's wizard by zophon 2016-04-25T16:43:00

Even if the game is not what you hoped it would be, you managed to pull of the most important work: You finished a game. Be proud, come back, do better. :)

String Theory by SemiColon 2016-04-20T12:13:00

Wow, what a great game! Clean up the audio a bit, make it longer and you'd have a commercially ready game. :)

55 Days by V4lesti 2016-04-19T13:30:00

Wow, what a polished game and very fun to play too. Nice work!

On a sidenote, I'd disable voting for Humor and Audio, since neither are applicable/attributable, which in turn might increase the overall score. Though most don't care about the score :)

Mr. Purrgalar by KairosXIII 2016-04-24T16:35:00

Interesting concept, solid execution, overall great game! :)

NeonDX by neondx 2016-04-25T13:17:00

Nice concept, great game. :)

The Witch & The Witcher by PixVox 2016-04-19T12:13:00

Very lovely artwork!
Unfortunately the collisions were a bit wonky, causing unnecessary frustration. But otherwise a great game. :)

LD36 — Ancient Technology

The Unreal Odyssey by cushycode 2016-08-31T08:08:00

This is a really cool idea! It took me a minute to figure out how to actually use the starmap to read my position, but it was actually fun to navigate by this method once I knew. Well done.

Explojan Horse by cottontrek 2016-09-03T09:53:00

Woah, this game looks gorgeous. The control keys were a bit awkwardly placed (or I'm not used z-x-c controls), but otherwise this game is well made.

Bird Flapulator by Karai17 2016-08-30T08:15:00

Oh, this game. I can't wait to play the post-compo version!

The current version has a few flaws and bugs, but I really like the potential that's in it. The game is about the gameplay, but has a surprising amount of story in it. The voiced dialogue is a really nice touch.

The Trade Network by scriptorum 2016-09-03T09:37:00

This is a really fun game and it's well done too. Good work!

Stoneheart by raspofabs 2016-08-31T10:32:00

A great and lovely game. The puzzles are great and well thought out and the graphics, sounds and controls all play well together. My only complaint would be that it took way to long to find out I was supposed to press Z. Maybe simply update the description? Just a quick hint "Press Z". Otherwise, awesome game.

Ogo and the Block by Latis Games 2016-08-31T08:26:00

Nice game! I thought I got stuck until I realized you could interact with the trees, then it became straight-forward. It's unfortunate you didn't have the time to implement the rest of the items, that would've been cool. Still, good work.

Ghosts In The Shell by xgeovanni 2016-08-30T09:09:00

Wow, this game is exceedingly well done. It contains exactly what it needs with nothing more or less and I can't find any rough edges. A clear 5/5 if I ever saw one.

My house is over there by kyyninen 2016-08-31T08:45:00

I like the atmosphere of this game! The entire time I was waiting for a cheap jumpscare, that didn't come, haha. I'm not sure if there was supposed to be an ending, because I found my house after I collected four lights, but nothing happened. Apart from that, I like this game a lot. You captured the atmosphere of a night stroll very good.

Old Man's Sky by Geared Games 2016-08-30T10:59:00

This is just amazing. Perfect capture. However you're doing this, keep doing it, because it's awesome.

Lorem Ipsum or Engineering for a Civilized Age by amras0000 2016-08-30T15:14:00

This is a lovely idea and the execution is fine too, though a better overview over the terrain while "snaking" would probably help. Keep up the good work! :)

Fire Quest by Sheepolution 2016-08-30T09:21:00

I like the concept, but unfortunately didn't advance beyond picking up the stick. A few pointer to the available commands would've been helpful. Still, I think the game is well done apart from the difficulty.

Mead Boy by blubberquark 2016-08-30T09:32:00

Oh very nice work, this a really fun game. Usually I'm annoyed by unresponsive controls, but when it's part of the gameplay like this, it becomes funny instead,

LD39 — Running out of Power

Rush by Shinmera 2017-08-01T18:52:04Z

In principle I like this, but didn't get to see a lot of it. I got stuck at the first walljump section. A couple of times I got almost to the top, but fell down again. I tried again and again, on controller too, until my fingers started to cramp, but no dice. I guess the difficulty needs to be scaled down for those sections? Maybe the walljump could be improved so it allows for a larger margin of error for the exact timing of jumps. Or maybe I just did it wrong.

Apart from that, the game looks very cool and atmospheric, the minimal outlines enhance the effect of the fading light and the red highlights are nice too. The controls are also okay and smooth.

Rush by Shinmera 2017-08-03T22:25:51Z

@Shinmera Oh thanks, that cleared my problems right up. Guess I was really just overthinking things.

Despotism 3k by NikolayKuznetsov 2017-08-03T19:29:03Z

Wow, great game! Graphics, mood, gameplay; everything is good about this game. Finished in 25m6s, if anyone is keeping score. Literally my only complaint is, that it needs a "remove until empty" and "add until full" key, because in the later levels my poor wrist had to suffer a lot of clicking. ;) Otherwise this a polished game that does exactly what it sets out to do.

Funhouse Blackout by AndideBob 2017-08-01T19:32:35Z

Nice work, the game is well made. I don't particularly like horror games, but it's fine for LD. The energy levels are a bit too closely balanced for my taste, though. Take a picture or two too many and you need to restart again. Maybe we could keep the map between saves?

Overall solid entry!

There's No Place Like Home by Remzo 2017-08-01T16:48:19Z

Very nice game! I think the difficulty is just right - I died twice but escaped on the third attempt due to strategic switching between the shield and the spaceship.

The graphics are also good and help build the atmosphere. What I was, pleasantly, surprised by are the controls. They're minimal and do exactly what one would expect. I hadn't to think about it for a second.

LD42 — Running out of space

Asteroidvania by blubberquark 2018-08-14T14:29:55Z

Nice little game :) The way you have to switch between directions and the different routes within the same zone is a good combination of exploration and puzzle. The bonfires are also placed just right so the game doesn't get frustrating when you miss a jump but not so frequent to trivialize the platforming part.

Vita Magicae by Anuke 2018-08-15T21:31:50Z

Nice, a very polished game. I was ready to give up at the first boss because I'm not very good at bullet hell games but found a way to cheese it (the little alcove on top) but then got stuck at the second boss where you wisely made the pillars destroyable in the fourth phase, rendering my second cheese tactic invalid. :D

Space Taters by Jan 2018-08-14T14:46:16Z

Very nice game, I love how much there is to do and find and randomly interact and spurious details and funny mails/memos and... In short, a lot of things for a game jam entry. Nice work! The only slightly annoying thing is that there is no reason to ever not use the sprint button, so the normal, slow walking speed was redundant.

Night Shift by TomekS 2018-08-14T18:51:40Z

Wow, what a great game. A lot of humor that's sort of self-inflicted by the player crashing into things. I also like that the gameplay is a balance between the puzzle of finding non-overlapping routes and actually managing to drive these routes. The u-turn corners always got me...

Shipping Error by runner_alien 2018-08-14T17:09:39Z

An interesting mechanic and the game is built well around it. Almost got 74 points once, but it was 68 in the end. Good work! Although I found that the incoming pieces often covered the playing field making it hard to figure out what shape is landing.

Help!! My Cauldron's Conjuring Trash!! by zozol 2018-08-14T15:52:18Z

Lovely game :)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

MechaSnek by bluescrn 2018-04-26T07:52:08Z

Woah, this is really well done! You can be proud of this game. :)

Dear Clicker by blubberquark 2018-04-23T17:51:50Z

I can't believe how well this works. You captured the essence of both genres perfectly. The pointless clicking, the pointless poems, the drive to finish the game regardless.

Forest Groove by eott 2018-04-23T17:16:56Z

@blubberquark Damnit, I thought I had this issue fixed. Thanks for the info, I'll look into it.

Blind Vision by tsjost 2018-04-23T18:20:02Z

This game is great and fun. With some levels I'm not entirely sure how I won them, but I guess that's fine. ;)

The sound effects are clearly the best part of the game. Okay, maybe second best after the highlight mechanic.

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T21:03:50Z

Nice little game with an amusing combination of genres. I can't add much to what others have said already, so just keep up the good work!

Graveyard dates by Adrien Dittrick 2018-04-24T21:19:42Z

I love the concept, it's genius!

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the game (HTML5 version), because the memory leaks got so bad it ate 6GB of RAM. The gravity was also much too light, it made the jumping a bit annoying.

Super Slime Slasher Ultra by sebastianscaini 2018-04-26T07:43:44Z

I noticed two smalls issues. For one it's easy to get surrounded by slimes and the way hits and knockback work can turn this into a stun-lock that drain the entire remaining life. The other thing was that it was a bit straining to mash the attack button instead of just holding it.

But these minor problems aside, this is a great game! The characters were cute and it even had voice acting. Awesome!

Carried Away by Treeboater 2018-04-26T18:25:42Z

I feel like this is exactly what the person suggesting this LD's theme had in mind. Well done!

A Carpenter's Tale by DeadlyMidnight 2018-04-25T21:16:15Z

This is a great game, good scores all across the board.

Field of Skulls by thegreentofu 2018-04-26T18:36:20Z

I must not be playing this game right, because I can't seem to progress. During the fight I shoot the baddies and get corn for it, but eventually the spawn rate overwhelms even the frenziest clicking I can put out and I die. Did I miss something?

Otherwise, looks like a solidly built game that has all the components. Farming game/shooter is an amusing combination of genres, too.
