Played it for you on stream. Pretty awesome.

This is my favorite entry so far. The idea is amazing. I don't have much to criticize other than the lack of eye candy. :P

This game is great and fun. With some levels I'm not entirely sure how I won them, but I guess that's fine. ;)

The sound effects are clearly the best part of the game. Okay, maybe second best after the highlight mechanic.

Very creative. The gameplay was solid. I initially thought there's a bug that a door opens randomly, but it was the enemy pressing the button. Neato.

The sound effects were funny. The level design worked really well for the game. There's not a whole lot to say, since there isn't anything the game does wrong and despite being fun to play and mechanically interesting, it's not particularly complex. You got everything right, polished it up, and made a solid game. Good work.

One thing, though. "Blind-friendly" I can accept, but "visual game" is not a genre.

the idea is nice. Too bad I only get to the 3rd level, and even 2nd level was difficult since I couldnt see anything / died many times during the testing...

Loved it! The sound effects were funny and the difficulty was well balanced. Didn't take me long to get used to and I'm always a fan of simple ideas with a twist.

I really loved the concept. The idea is really good and creative, and seriously man loved the sound effects... "yaayy".."oooo" hahaha!. I really enjoyed playing the game. Well done!

Btw if you wanna try a horror + comedy entry, try my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/memebumps dont forget to leave a rating if you like.

I enjoyed the 7 levels ! I'll take your game as an example later on, as I always tend to complicate things. The concept is neat and your level design is on point. Mouth sounds are always fun too. Very nice entry !

Very nice idea and well executed. I especially loved the sound effects.

Cool game, and great sound effects! Doesn't seem to fit the theme from what I can see, but fun nonetheless.

baconsenpaii 2018-04-28 21:09

That was a really fun game! Would have nice to have some music but those sound effects make up for it. It also looked really nice, even with two colours.

deprecat 2018-04-28 22:14

Such a cool concept! It definitely tests the players ability to remember the room and I like the spin on accessibility.

Another feature that could be cool would be a sort of sonar ability, where a sound wave reveals the whole room very briefly. It could be just a one or two time use item that prevents your from just spamming it, but would be helpful in later levels that become more complex.

Amazing work!

Neat concept and fun to play! I like the difficulty of the levels, I could easily see hard levels ruining a game like this. Great mouth-made sfx too, haha.

Fantastic work. I do web accessibility design/dev in my day job and I've been thinking for a while about how cool it would be to play a game that made sensory disability a part of the mechanics. The hovering mechanic is really simple here but it adds a great layer to the puzzle platforming. Especially in the last level, I had to really pay attention to figure out what the right order of events should be. My only real issue is that some of the earlier levels just sort of work out automatically without the player needing to pay too much attention (i.e. I hit a switch and an enemy I didn't know existed sets off another switch).

Also kudos for the first scene where you hover to read out the text. Very clever way of introducing the mechanic.

Edit: Oh also, an interesting thing to pursue for this would be a blind-accessible version (not sure if it already is)!

tsjost 2018-04-29 03:47

Thanks @evan-minto! A couple of levels basically solve themselves, yes, if you happen to be standing in the right place. I didn't want to make the puzzles _too_ hard as I wasn't sure how much trouble people would have with the "you can't see anything" mechanic.

I would love to make something that is _actually_ blind-accessible, but I lack the knowledge about the topic -- I have no idea how accessibility works, how/if blind people's lifestyle differ that one should apply in game design, what screen readers/other equipment they use and thus what the interface to the game should be, etc. It seems like quite a complicated topic.

gafblizzard 2018-04-29 03:47

The braille is an interesting idea, though the scan area could be a bit bigger. I'm glad you don't have to hold down the button.

I beat all 8 levels.

lyrcaxis 2018-04-29 15:04

I loved the sounds! The game was well done too!

Good decision to scope low on features and polish them! I enjoyed playing every second of it!

neontropics 2018-04-29 15:57

Very nice concept, and good execution! I am a bit lazy and mostly just started jumping towards the right, and then would "read" more tiles afterwards to figure out why I died. Charming sounds and lofi graphics.

It reminds me of a bit of navigating the later levels in the obscure but awsome Kula World / Rollaway for the original playstation, where blocks would fade in and out of being visible.

odd1in 2018-05-06 21:25

Wow this is a very innovative game. I also really enjoyed the sound effects.

commanderstitch 2018-05-06 23:36

https://www.screencast.com/t/CjkByhp8ReCI I beat them all. yay! sound effects are hilarious. i did feel blind. My favorite part of the whole game and what i really wanted to see was the intro screen. That was so interesting. My mind was flying across all the possible implications of having to hover over a thing i didn't understand in order to know what was going on. pretty cool stuff.
