This is absolutely FANTASTIC! I can see that if you added more levels (and maybe a longer music loop, this could be up on Steam in months. It is super fun, and feels very stealthy, and also is hyper-creative. I tip my fedora to you, m8
I loved it. The audio was great, and the concept was well executed. Good job!
This is really great - very ambitious to try a stealth game. Love the graphics + audio, and excellent use of theme.
A really fun steath game. I really enjoyed playing through it. It is quite challenging though.
cool
Music SO good SO wow!
Very neat game, I haven't found any bullets when I was out of them, Am i blind or was that intentional?
This game is really fun! Nice work.
Beautiful execution, nice idea, great voice-over :p.
Cool game, nice music and graphics! Idea is also cool!
Good fun! :) Like the style and the minimalist audio. Good work.
Says "You did" when you die. 10/10
Anyway, really fun and polished game, well done!
Very fun to play, too bad the game type is basic.
(Google Translate, I'm French)
@edve98 Actually there is an E before the D... my fault for using a stylized font lol
Nice graphics and funny sound. But it lacks of interest. It's just another game where you shoot and kill stuff. Your take on the theme is way too cliché, yes it's an umbrella, but it still shoots and bang like a gun and a truncheon.
good game and work overall, very polished. congratz.
Phun. :-)
What a lovely little game - bonking the enemies on the head with the brolly felt great. Lovely lovely game!
Want more levels!
Really fun game... Audio fitted in very nicely
Loved it! Simple but effective, really enjoyed the weapon choice too.
Great game, very well rounded and a nice play on the theme.
Nice that backstabbing is instakill. Couldn't get very far though.
If anyone reads this, just a quick question; could you tell me how hard you think it is? I am thinking of building more levels; and this one was intended as a base line (easy) and it was going to ramp up from there. however a few people in the comments have said it is hard so just want to get some feedback, thanks!
cool game. I finished the mission with one intelligence.
Good luck =D
Graphics are pretty good, audio is nice too. The gameplay is pretty cool too but a bit lacking. I found myself just smacking enemies around easily.
Fun game with great graphics and music. However it is a bit hard to hit the enemies.
Wow, what a great game! I could easily see this becoming a full-fledged game. The art style is thematic and consistent, which makes it just as good as highpoly textured models.
Really fun, one of my favourite entries!
This was clearly one of the top games I have played so far. Nice job!
Amazing game! Great work, the result was great. Congratulations
Kinda wish the windows & OS X links were to actual binaries, not the web view :)
@agmcleod Unfortunately, io.itch doesn't allow for direct links. The Windows/OSX links are at the bottom of the page.
Very nice game! Reminded me of a slower Hotline Miami. Like you had with my Moss game, I also had a dev console pop up randomly for me in the middle of the game and had some enemies be invincible, or my umbrella wouldnt fire/hit people occasionally. I'm curious what this dev console business is and why it seems to keep popping up all of sudden in Unity games.
Cool take on the theme. Audio was a bit jarring, but the graphics are pretty cool and the level design was nice.
The view reminds me a little bit of True Lies on the SNES. Nice.
Interesting. Ran into a weird bug where after I died I continued to get shot and got scooched across the screen. Love the tone though.
@emmelineprufrock Actually; that was purely intentional. I was streaming the whole thing; when I went to make the game pause when you died, someone said they thought it was funny to watch the corpse slide around on the ground, so I kept it in.
I was thinking of using an umbrella as well in the end I went with a piano. I really like these types of games. It made me happy when the ai was able to follow me through a door and chase me down. Fun game and reasonably balanced for challenge/fun.
FANTASTIC LOOK AND SOUNDTRACK!!! WELL DONE!
Well played good sir, or should I say well made. Or better yet, Well met. En Guard!
Was fun.
Interesting game. I think the sfx is a bit too loud for the bg music. I was wearing headphones and the shot startled me. A cool little idea would be to let the player open the umbrella do deflect a shot. I really like the mood of the game...hopefully i'll see it more polished in the future. Keep up the good work. :)
OP GAME :d
That game was pretty amazing. I'm very impressed with the art style, the recordings (though low quality, they were all comprehensible, and added to the game's feel), and the gameplay was actually pretty well-balanced.
I did notice a few areas where colliders weren't placed on all the walls and such, but other than that it was just about flawless. Great job!
@destruktorr: The colliders were put there, but in my post after I finished I mentioned a bug caused by unity. well that is it. The mesh collider that is generatd by unity isn't particularly accurate, so even though my mesh is relatively simple; occasionally darts go through. It isn't particularly useful, but yeah sometimes tranqs will go through walls.
Honestly, if I were to take this game to full production, I'd go in and make a custome collider box for each piece to prevent it; but for ludum, I think that kind of small bug is acceptable, especially when it does'nt effect gameplay.
Good idea, well executed. I like that you can hit guards around corners if you line it up right!
Very cool idea, i loved the concept that you came up with, the old "spy umbrella", and you managed to turn that concept into a great game. Was a Blast!
I liked the cute graphics and walking animations, and the soundtrack. Guards sounded a bit like they were being pleasured when they were knocked out. Would be good to be able to look ahead to see more of large rooms.
I like it , but i think a "hold shift to look further" control or something like that would have been nice.
This is pretty fun if not a bit difficult. I like the simple music and the blocky graphics. Nice job
I really like the style of the graphics and sound. Stealth games aren't really my bag but I had fun with this one.
I liked the look of the rooms. Took me some time to figure out that the guards need to be attacked from behind. Hit animations or something to indicate a successfull hit would be nice.
Wait, you can shoot in this game? I beat it just by backthwacking everybody, and thought it was really very easy.
Interesting and entertaining game in a genre of stealth. I'd recommend to improve AI of the enemies because there is a simple strategy of running to another room after that the enemies return to the initial positions.
Nice little stealth game. Self derision definitely makes it up for the bad AIs to me !
@lebrokholic: Well the "bad ai" is actually intentional. This was designed as a tutorial level. So the enemies have short aggro ranges and slow reaction times; so moving out of their aggro range is quick, and usually you get out of their vision before they actually aggro unless they catch you while turning.
Unfortunately, I wanted a certain level of polish for the menus, and had to compose a song which ate up the time I was going to use to make a 2nd level (or more.)
Technically, all I'd have to do is knock down their reaction time and aggro range and the AI itself would be fine, but as it was the tutorial I wanted to keep it simple.
The art and concept here are great, needs some smoothing out, but 10/10 would play again!
Cool game. It's very well polished. I like the choice of weapon.
There's only Windows version in the zip.
@dos:Wow, first person to point that out, apologies @dos, will be fixed shortly.
Fixed, I had them all in one zip, but before I made it public had to make a quick fix, but I only compiled the windows version.
This is really nice. I don't usually enjoy these kinds of stealth games, but this one had a nice style to it. Movement felt pretty fluid, the environment looked good, the sparse guitar spy music was a pretty short loop but it sounded great and fit the atmosphere.
It would be cool to have more levels, but that one looked pretty big. And based on your timelapse, it's actually built in the scene, not data-driven, right? Using a level definition file might increase your level design throughput.
The umbrella animation was a little bit slow. I read some advice recently that said to make weapon attacks happen in one (maybe two?) frames and add some sort of trail or blur to the weapon to indicate that it moved. It sounded good to me.
I wasted my darts really early because I was just trying them out. There aren't very many; maybe there were parts of the level I didn't see where they were important?
Really cool, solid entry here. Nice work.
I thought it was easy enough, but I was cautious and maybe a little lucky. I don't think any of the guards ever alerted on me.
Difficulty might come from having more complex patrol patterns for the guards or remote tripwires or noisemakers that might make them come running. Losing because you alerted a guard you couldn't see doesn't feel as good as losing because you knew what to do but made a mistake in execution, I think.
Nice little stealth game, I quite like it.
Funny weapon, cool game! I included it in part 11 of my Ludum Dare 32 compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) http://youtu.be/ArGc_dQ-3Lc
