LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Generic Adventure Game by Jezzamon 2014-04-28T02:27:00

By far one of the most unexpected delights I've come across. While the gameplay was a little offputting (walking slow is not as fun as you think it is), the wonderful humor and charm of this game is incredible! Great job!

ants by justinmchase 2014-04-28T02:20:00

Your game ceases to boot with the error "ant_Data folder required next to executable" Please fix!

Sub-Reality by TheH 2014-04-28T02:32:00

While the game had very interesting core gameplay, I found myself stuck on the second level. Still, if expanded upon, you could really make something great out of it!

Castle Engineer by KayZ 2014-04-28T17:45:00

Incredibly clever! I was quite surprised and really enjoyed the game!

Jupiter Lander by IvanDashSmith 2014-04-28T01:29:00

I REALLY liked this game! Hooked me for a good 10 minutes! 8/10 would play again! (Seriously though, pretty damn good.) Perhaps you could check out mine when you get time? http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-29/?action=preview&uid=36494

Beneath The Surface by adamwoolridge 2014-04-28T00:46:00

Awesome game! Like arcade games of yore, the game is easy to learn yet hard to master, and looks nice! Perhaps you could check out my game http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-29/?action=preview&uid=36494

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Freedom Isn't Free by Almax27 2014-12-17T00:19:00

Nice game, but you might want to check your description, "Left lick - shoot"

Orbitalis by acerunox 2014-12-17T00:43:00

This is my favourite type of game, one where it's incredibly hard to do well, but incredibly easy to try over and over again. Bravo, sir. This is a very good game.

Maybe a bit easier next time though?

Screen of Infinite Detail by Snicklodocus 2014-12-17T00:40:00

Very well done, looks very nice, I was a little confused about the goal at first, but it made sense once I was through my first level. Very cool idea for sure!

Frostbite by ShellfishGames 2014-12-17T01:12:00

This is actually really awesome. I got some serious Portal/Antichamber vibes from the 3D sections of the game. The 2D parts don't really work, but the jumping and gravity switching works perfectly, and feels incredible. I think if you were to develop this further (which you really should) you should take out the 2D part and replace it with some sort of story elements as reward for the puzzles. Also, you own a rollercoaster because rollercoasters are AWESOME!

One Epic Fury by Dejsan 2014-12-17T00:48:00

One-button games are always a hoot, quite fun to play with friends this game is, good job! One quip? Learn to draw.

Thieves' Honor by Mach60KAS 2014-12-18T02:54:00

Very good game, but I think you should have mapped shooting to LMB and used that charge thing on RMB.

Terra by Canyon 2014-12-17T00:12:00

I liked it, but I felt a little confused at first over who I was controlling. The graphics are simplistic, but lend the game a nice charm. Overall, I liked it but I feel that more work could have come out of 72 hours of work.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Space Trash! by RARoadkill 2015-04-21T00:45:00

Surprisingly polished for a Ludum Dare game!

Black Beam Blaster by Xgor 2015-04-20T15:49:00

Holy crap, that was really hilarious and awesome!

Attack on Castle Tubswicks by Jokerbomb 2015-04-21T01:20:00

Seems alright, but I ran into a game-crashing bug whilst moving into a room. Also, why'd you need an installer?

Extinction Explosion!! by sugarbyte 2015-04-21T00:39:00

Sugarbyte, Sorry to bug you but you posted in the comments section of my game that the Linux version didn't work. I'm sorry to say I've little experience with Linux and I just used the default option to export from Unity. I'd like to apologize for the broken port.

ink by quill18 2015-04-21T00:21:00

The graphics, sound and such are all very well done. However I have a big complaint with how movement was handled as I had trouble targeting an enemy as the game always moved me when I was trying to target an enemy. The procedural generation was done very well also.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

DESEEDER by Zanzlanz 2015-12-14T07:20:00

The tutorial was harder than the actual game. The actual game was great.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Revolutions by CrazyMatt 2016-08-29T04:15:00

This is one of the most poorly constructed Ludum Dare games I have ever played. The controls are never fully explained (at first I thought it was a glitch I couldn't walk forward; also A and D turn you instead of, say, the mouse?), the goals are poorly defined (the printing press suddenly moved my forward in time without me doing anything but printing more copies?), and the game is incredibly poorly made (The character controller is set up in a way that allows it to rotate on an axis that makes you fall over?). I also wouldn't be surprised if the forest scene in the beginning is taken from a content pack instead of made from scratch, which is against the rules of Ludum Dare.

Revolutions by CrazyMatt 2016-08-29T05:06:00

Also, your source code download is empty.

Sir Serell Saves The World by imogiagames 2016-08-29T04:05:00

The game itself is enjoyable, and some of the artwork is absolutely excellent, but there's a major failing of the controls. Almost every twin-stick shooter relies on the left side of the controller to move and the right side to shoot, whereas this is inverted. Makes it very confusing to someone just playing for the first time.

Egyptian Death Ray Of The Sun Blessed By Ra, Forged To Destroy Apep on the Eve of Destruction" by AurynSky 2016-08-29T04:02:00

Hey! Caught your development stream Friday night, excited to see the game done. Overall it's enjoyable, but the pace is a bit slow and the sound design makes the weapon seem a bit wimpy (also, the recharge sound is far louder than the others, hard on the ears).

RAM by Evilperson77 2016-08-29T04:33:00

Actually pretty enjoyable! Could benefit from adding some kinesthetic related things such as screen shake, animation blur, and better feeling sounds (that punch sound so weak).

Pocket Worlds by systencegames 2016-08-29T04:19:00

Short and entertaining. The controls need to be explained better however. I managed to pick up on the controls for the archer but still don't understand the controls for the melee character. Would it have been that hard to build an additional level or two?

The Operator by Gipzo 2016-08-30T00:32:00

Overall a fun and enjoyable game. Certain parts were a bit confusing to pick up at first, even though they were explained (Didn't realise I would get penalized so harshly for listening to calls). The mixing of the music could be improved slightly, make it more diegetic.

L.M.V. Edison by killthealias 2016-08-29T04:35:00

@manabreak I want to make sure that's not a bug, could you record a video of what happens and send it to me?

Retro Player by justinooncx 2016-08-29T04:23:00

This is probably one of the more interesting games I've played so far. The exclusive focus on mouse-based gameplay is really unique and makes what would otherwise be easy into a difficult challenge (in a fun way). Biggest complaint is the break from tone when the piano comes in, would have been better to have actual chiptune music.

The Switch - Worker by Ghen 2016-08-29T08:16:00

Surprisingly fun! The graphics could stand to be a bit better, as well as the audio, but the actual gameplay is very entertaining; especially for something with the format of Ludum Dare (best suited to quick, easy to learn, quick to finish games).

Atomic Reconstruction by Teekeks 2016-08-29T04:43:00

Couldn't get it to run (probably my Java installation, I'll try again later) but I put in a vote for you on Greenlight :D

No Man Has Gone Before by KevKevOnFire 2016-08-29T05:51:00

This is an excellent game, kept me engaged and interested. Would have liked it if there were some sound effects associated with the interface, just to give it that extra hint of polish.

No Man Has Gone Before by KevKevOnFire 2016-08-29T08:36:00

BTW, if you plan on releasing a post-compo version of this I'd love to do a soundtrack for you. Hit me up killthealias@gmail.com.

Artifact Hunter by CMLSC 2016-08-29T01:09:00

Fun arcade-like game. Clever way of allowing the player to get used to the controls before presenting any hazards. Button prompts instead of a help menu would be better for introducing the controls. Enjoyable music.

Archio by Capt Nemo 2016-08-29T05:41:00

Somehow manages to turn a clone of Simon into a fun and engaging puzzle game. The way the blocks behaved and sounded felt very enjoyable and relaxing. The Fez-like rotation after solving a puzzle was a nice touch.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-16T20:36:25Z

As a musician myself, I can confirm that this is totally how acquiring fans is done. Excellent art, sound, and gameplay. Good on all fronts.

Rattletrap VR by _for_science 2017-12-16T20:26:15Z

Excellent. The various ways you have to interact with your ship are all very engaging (having the cables above your head was particularly good). Shooting feels nice and snappy.

BOOTY LOOTER! by MrLeePerry 2017-12-16T20:46:47Z

Good job with making the act of moving the pirate around fun to do. The audio was well done and added nicely to it. Fun little game ^_^

Rocket Jump by RahmKota3 2017-12-16T20:53:49Z

Very interesting turning a rocket into more of a puzzle mechanic than anything actually dangerous. Sound and actual rocket projectiles moving when you fired would have gone a fair ways to making this feel better.

Junk by jjjjason 2017-12-16T20:42:45Z

For something so simple, polish in the way of game-feel-y stuff or sound would go a long way.

Space Dungeon by bbaf 2017-12-16T20:14:56Z

I will admit, I have a distaste for bullet hell games. However, I feel this game is significantly lacking in the sort of game-feel "juice" needed to make it enjoyable. Movement feels far too slidy and shooting is not enjoyable (partly due to the way the bullets travel, partly due to one-click-fire, and partly due to mediocre sound design).

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep The Vibe Alive (VR) by killthealias 2020-04-21T18:24:05Z

@mantaraytv-games Glad to hear it works well on the Vive! I built it using the Rift CV1 but I wanted to attempt to make it compatible with as many headsets as I could through SteamVR.

Keep The Vibe Alive (VR) by killthealias 2020-04-22T14:32:49Z

@purpledartfrog None of it was prepped in advance! In fact, I spent the first day or so procrastinating really hard and having a few false starts. The only thing that wasn't made within the 48 hour time limit was the hands, since they came with the SteamVR libraries. I hope that's not *too* much of a stretch of the compo rules.

Feed the Tree by Outfrost 2020-04-21T18:03:46Z

Good audio is one of the single greatest things you can do to set yourself apart from other submissions.

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-21T17:30:23Z

The game freezes on a white screen after the opening text from the main menu, the cursor draws repeatedly to it but I am unable to proceed otherwise.

Edit: switching to Windows 7 compatibility mode seemed to fix it?

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Abyss. by Darylsteak 2021-04-27T23:32:48Z

The atmosphere, graphics, and sound are all pitch perfect, however I feel the game is difficult to understand for a new player.

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-28T00:46:11Z

Really fun, but also a carpal tunnel simulator

Soaring Under by jitspoe 2021-04-27T11:10:14Z

Enjoyably tricky to get the hang of, just like a classic arcade game. Might have benefited from an arrow showing your velocity? The way the glider swooped upwards without the correct finessing was hard to get the hang of, but so satisfying once it clicked. Loved the comedic piano impact noises. I wonder if there are any hidden easter eggs?

Shotgun Viking (LD48) by Roikku 2021-04-27T23:54:31Z

Incredibly entertaining and enjoyably simple, just like a jam game should be.

LD59 — Signal

Ludum Dare 59 - Cell The Signal by baknik 2026-05-08T18:45:46Z

Really lovely visuals, made it feel like a Sim City minigame of some sort. I only wish the game was a little bit harder!

Metric Relay by xotraz 2026-05-08T19:03:23Z

Super cool idea for a game. I really enjoyed it, especially the presentation. It felt so slick. Wish I could rate it for the audio too since it really added to it. Simple and elegant.

Cadence of Glob by Orjan 2026-05-08T18:22:17Z

Ball is life taken to the extreme.

Checkers: Under the Radar by Placeholders 2026-05-08T20:45:55Z

I'm certainly not very good at checkers, but this was a really fun take on it.

Signal King by Tetramollaxx 2026-05-08T18:26:48Z

Really cool and unique style going on here. Exactly the sort of gameplay idea that feels like it could only come from a jam game. Fun and clever.

RedFlag:SOS by ReiMi 2026-05-08T18:37:27Z

I wish the game was better able to explain the gameplay during the course of the meal, instead of having to rely on reading the developer's notes, however I was instantly won over by the hot evil woman.

Read My Signal by Shivvvy 2026-04-23T23:49:45Z

Really cute! Excellent art style and simple, elegant design. Occasionally difficult to understand the ratings I was being given, uncertain if I was doing well or not.

Small Among Storms by ShanzPro 2026-04-23T23:53:57Z

Really nice pixel art, and great atmosphere, but understanding how I was meant to react to each signal was difficult, I feel like I ended up brute forcing it too much.

While You Were Here by jpat 2026-05-08T18:30:59Z

Very classic puzzle game shenanigans, tied into the theme nicely. I found myself wishing I could execute my ideas faster once I had thought of them. The platforming occasionally felt more difficult than it should have.

i love you, too by tolviere 2026-04-24T00:01:43Z

The perfect mechanic for a game jam like Ludum Dare. Felt really engaging for the whole length of the game. Very enjoyable overall. Concerned for these characters! Could totally see a sequel work with an x-y oscilloscope ala the music of Jellybean Fenderson.
