I liked it, The one thing that I don't like is how in the first indoor level, which is as far as I got, It said that I couldn't save My Comrades when the bar was at half. Also, I do find it odd how you can shoot while holding your comrade :P . Other than that the game was Amazing, I especially liked the bouncyness of the animations. Good game ppl!

pirhana 2020-04-21 02:38

Oh my! I totally forgot to fix the shooting while carrying bug! Thank you for playing! I'll look into why the bar did not work well for you. Which level did the bar do that? @gamesnitzhel

Very nice entry! I loved the art style and the music is top notch. The gameplay was also very nice and smooth. Especially liked the way player deaths and respawns are handled.

My only one slight complaint is that you stop when ever you shoot a bullet, which slightly messes up the game feel because im used to running and gunning in top down shooters, but this is a very minor complaint.

Overall, very very good.

hare-software 2020-04-21 15:59

Good graphics and a good take on the theme. A few things that could be better is where you respawn after you die, having to walk all the way back to the mission you died in without anything happening in between is not so much fun. Collision of walls and bullets was also not always behaving how I would expect them too. These are however minor things, overall it is a very solid entry!

svenerik 2020-04-21 17:55

Somehow the music was super loud for me, maybe the sound levels were off, or my computer acted weird, though I played several other games beforehand and it was okay. I really digged the graphics, simple yet not so simple, gave it a good look! Besides that the sound itself good once I lowered the volume and the gameplay was pretty nice.

ryannielson 2020-04-21 17:57

Neat little game, I quite like the pixel graphics and the exaggerated squash and stretch animations in places. It'd be great if the movement was a little faster and when you died you just had to redo the room not the whole level. I think the idea of a medic saving fellow soldiers could be a interesting one if expanded upon.

Good job!

riftpoint-entertainment 2020-04-21 17:57

Very cool game! The pixel art is amazing and very polished! The music and sounds are also very well done. Good Job!

jefvel 2020-04-21 17:58

Great graphics and neat chiptune music! I couldn't manage to get through the first level though, I think either the timer or player movement is tied to display refresh rate or something, since it runs out way too fast: https://streamable.com/rcffxp

Or am I missing something?

hegemege 2020-04-21 17:58

Nice graphics and music (it was way too loud, though!)

At first I had trouble in the second area with the timer, because it seems to be tied to frame rate and with my 144hz monitor I couldn't finish the level, so I had to play on my other 60hz monitor. My bullets didn't seem to do any damage to the enemies, and only having one shot per picked up ammo was a bit tricky. The running animation was nice and moving around felt good.

wxzuir 2020-04-21 17:59

I love the music!

pirhana 2020-04-21 18:07

@Hegemege i will look into this, this is definitely not normal! what kind of computer do you have? Mac, PC, linux?

maggardjosh 2020-04-21 18:08

Music and art are great in this! Really like the concept as well. Like others have mentioned, wish the player would move faster and having to respawn at the beginning and walk to where you died was not fun. Overall enjoyed this entry!

hegemege 2020-04-21 18:12

@pirhana Windows PC, played the WebGL version

hegemege 2020-04-21 18:18

@pirhana To re-iterate the problem: the timer went too fast in the second area so I couldn't save all 4 in time

pirhana 2020-04-21 18:18

@hegemege can you try the downloadable version? and see if the problem still remains. That would help me figure out if it is a build problem or code problem

hegemege 2020-04-21 18:32

@pirhana Yeah the same thing happens in the windows build, this happens sometimes in Unity jam games that haven't done proper Update/FixedUpdate distinction in logic, but Unity tricks don't apply here unfortunately. I also realised the enemy hitbox is at their feet so that's why my shots missed.

mccheesebob 2020-04-21 18:32

Some great pixel art and nice music! Pretty fun overall as well.

rufson 2020-04-21 18:32

very cool and hard game but repeating room is annoying and would be cool to have more bullets insted of just one when anothers fire you like crazy

pirhana 2020-04-21 19:09

@hegemege thank you, i will make sure to dig at the issue. and you are right, the hitboxes are at their feet. I should fix this eventually

roboimuri 2020-04-21 19:12

Great game! The idea of having only a few ammo was nice and gave a lot of weight. Atmosphere was great.

phlip45 2020-04-21 19:12

Amazing art and music. I feel like the hit detection is a bit off, though I'll chalk that up to playing in the browser.

leonardo-fraga 2020-04-21 19:19

That's incredible. Very polished, beautiful and good mechanics. The biggest problem to me is, that when you die, you need to walk all the way back again. Really, really great job!

debuggerpls 2020-04-21 19:29

Enjoyed the art and music. Cool game!

derek-volker 2020-04-21 19:32

Whoa. Absolutely incredible graphics. Nice music and sound. Cool mechanics. Fitting the theme. Don't know what more to say.

It runs smoothly, even in the browser and is really fun to play.

Excellent job. Really.

Beautifull aesthetics, comrade! I got killed even when behind the walls. I like how the gameplay changed for a fast decision to an analysis of the whole perspective to get the rescue done. I really liked the game! Well done!

jin9310 2020-04-22 08:44

Really nice pixel-art and the overall idea fits the there well. Foud it bit tricky to find a way how to avoid bullets in order to get further and the game is not forgiving that :) Can imagine that it would be great to have some checkpoints as going the whole thing from the very beginning again can be a pain for some players, but I like it, as it reminds me of old arcade machine games that were not forgiving as well and still wanted another coin from you. And that is the same with your game, I am willing to drop another coin into the machine in order to see the end. Good job!

jeroenwimmers 2020-04-27 20:16

that was quite unique! well done.

I found carrying the comrades a bit slow, but luckily you can drop them, walk to the edge of its hitbox and pick em up again. rinse and repeat, and you and you can get them to safety pretty quickly. not sure how much they like being thrown around, but it worked.

not sure how much I like the shooting being in there. there wasn't much ammo, which was good, but there was enough to take everyone out and then do the boring task of dragging the bodies back. the enemies could have introduced some more thinking about how you deal with the bodies, but that doesn't really happen now. unless that's different in later levels, but I stopped at level 3 I think. still enjoyed myself for a bit and the atmosphere and visuals were good

aaron-taube 2020-04-27 20:39

Really great way to stick to theme and the aesthetic of the game is fantastic. My only real frustration is going all the way back to the start room each death. That made it apparent how slow you really are.

wans24 2020-04-27 20:42

Interesting concept with good execution, also liked the graphics and animations. Good take on the theme. I added your game to my list https://wans24.itch.io/he-needs-healing/devlog/140983/what-ludum-dare-46-did-to-me

ilikescifi 2020-04-28 08:04

Wow. Ok this is the next 5 Star game for me. Super great job for the Jam. I guess it´s a game you guys are and will be working on, right? If not: do it! It really has potential and the helpless "insanity of war" feeling is transported very well. The music is great and motivating but not to "8-bit-ish". Fantastic concept. Thx!

animaster 2020-04-28 12:01

Thats really looks cool, but i feel that bullets colliders are bigger than it should be. Maybe i'm wrong. Good job anyway!

blubberquark 2020-04-28 14:54

5/5 on mood!
