Love the environment! Great construction and style of course... just really well done. Nice nice work!

Love the environment! Great construction and style of course... just really well done. Nice nice work!
Good stuff, Eka! Love the clean visuals and the little dude, lots of character and style!
After playing about 5 times I got to ~400 and figured I could have kept it going a long long time. But the first handful of plays I was ridiculously stressed (in a great way). LOVE the theme use, and the situation I've never really seen handled like that in a game beyond a simple "breath bar" that some games use as a side feature. Really cool. Thanks for all the tech help/advice through the weekend too!
Fun stuff, really enjoyed the general feel of the game. Never QUITE understood the mechanics enough to control it precisely, but that didn't really wreck it... I still had a good time with it. Nice stuff!
Hahahha, that's quite a bizarre setup for a game. Love it :)
Hahahha! Simply awesome. Too funny :) You're an inspiration!
Haha, I love a game where you can literally try to jump the shark. This is awesome, love the general theme and gameplay of jumping around on sinking chunks of ice. Well done!
Great visuals and style, and really love the circular environment. Wish the shooting was faster/more responsive and I wasn't sure if there was a goal. I got to the lower level and thought that was a great mechanic. Really slick though!
That was fun, even as simple as it was, I dug it. (har har)
Very fun, seems like the foundation of an iOS classic waiting to happen.
Very chill setting and gameplay, I really dug it. Something very OCD about it. Great work and use of a dynamic mesh like that!
62! RRWAR!!! Fun stuff. I loved the "blood cubes" hahahha, so cool. Felt awesome how everything was piling up, reminding me of World War Z (movie) zombie piles.
Thanks all, yeah the crash stabs at my soul... And I've only been coding for a month so I'm very poorly equipped to search it out easily. Will try to have a friend come by sometime and see if it's as simple as a flag set incorrectly somewhere and could qualify under the "typo repair rules" for a late change/update to a submitted game.
HEY ALL! I fixed the crash bug about a minute in. Typo rule in effect! It should play indefinitely now, so... woot!
It was, undoubtedly too ambitious, haha. Noob error #1, right? Half the game twice as polished would probably present WAY better. BUT, I had a reeeeeally good time creating it, learned a metric buttload about coding a project, and got my first gamejam experience.
Absolutely agree with your comments, zero offense taken :) Just didn't have enough time for a balancing pass really at all. Major scope lesson learned!
Whew! Would have been tough to come up with puzzles for that on such a timeline, kudos for tackling that. Super glad the central tower was there for orientation. Neat stuff!
Great stuff!!! Love the mechanics and theme.
Worked for me! Dig it! That hammer up there is so imposing, it's surprisingly stressful (in a great way) and a great fit for the theme.
Good stuff, was compelled to keep at it after dying quite a bit on some screens. Enjoyed it!
Fun, simple, oddly addictive.
Hahaha, nice! Totally satisfies that OCD thing you only get from mowing a lawn. Love it, great theme and scope! I really need to learn from your example next time.
Dig it... I always LOVE a game that operates of different levels like that, with submarine type "leaving" of one plane of play. That was really really cool. I could see that as a prototype for a full game easily. Reaaaally nice!!!
Also, can't really do more for the theme than that was!
One of my favs of the competition! Excellent work! Lots of great little mechanics to explore, I could totally see it becoming a full game. Great work!
Awesome! Love the classic vibe. Can't believe you got multiple stages and bosses in in the timeframe! Was playing with arrowkeys and space, need to come back with a keypad. Great job though!
It's not a huge deal, and I'm not a foagie, but I admit the clear drug naming of the modules struck me as a bit adolescent. *BUT* I really dug the game, it's not like it ruined it :) I was blown away with the first impression of the artwork BTW and intro moment. Very very well done.
hha! That's fun. OMG bumping a column is BRUTAL... was on a good run when I found that out :) Feels like a classic game that never was. Excellent work!
This is really excellent. The intro text totally works for setting the mood and making it feel like more than the sum of its parts. Really really cool!
Wow, very well done! I admit a dislike of puzzly elements to adventure games, so it's not my bag, but it was cool to see executed like this.
THUMBS UP! I admit I didn't complete it, but I dug running around in there and thinking through how it was going to work. Very cool use of the theme as well, getting multiple uses of the same screen estate.
Woah! How am I the first person to play this? It's EXCELLENT man, I really really dug it. Great feel, love the reveal of each level... played all the way through just to see each new basement area. Really impressive for the time given!!!
Go rate a bunch of other games, at least 20, and far more people will see your game as its "coolness" rating goes higher.
I reeeeally enjoyed this. It was simple and elegant, just really slick. My one issue was kind of that once a castle is built, it seemed really hard to take it back... seemed like the map got static pretty quick with emplaced strong positions. But still, very very nice work :)
WOAH! FREAKIN EXCELLENT GAME! Super ambitious, and really well done! I love this. Highest ratings I've given a game so far.
Haha, super bizarre, but the name made me check it out and I dug it :) Nice work.
Really great! Neat concept and well executed. Nice work!
haha, took a sec to figure out the flow, but man, what a trippy intriguing ride :) Tre' cool.
Excellent work! Have to admit the jumping physics were pretty infuriating, but the world and fog of war effects and variation as I uncovered the background was really really well done. Congrats!
I had some problems with the lag when near the enemies, but good attitude on sticking it through and making something! That's the ticket!
Yawn! Yet *another* zombie night club vr music fighting game? :) Hahaha, this is ridiculously well done, congrats to your whole group!!!
I liked it! The way the world changed between rounds was pretty excellent and rewarding, it had nice pacing based on that. I too wished the crosshair was more visible, but for a jam it was excellent. Good job.
Hahha, took about 4 tries to realize the gag. Well done :)
I can't say enough how much I love the pure intuitive nature of how you can tell visually what a character wants. That's so cool. Short of a little "thought bubble" over someone's head, this was a really great way to convey that info in a new way. Love it.
Oh man, well done! Love the resizing window dynamic for the level. Cool!
Pretty cool... pretty cool. Like the whole vibe, the music, the swiping and home... just a really neat little moment. Thanks for that.
HA! I really like how you have to conserve ammo to the point that you're making choices about who to save. Making quick prioritization decisions made it really compelling. Nice work!!! You should be proud :)
Hahha! The theme is hilarious. Well done :)
REALLY compelling. Something about the snug little apartment on one screen drew me in. Nice art and humor especially!
Haha, I got my ass beat, but you did a great job with the game. I dug the visuals and vibe.
Love the idea of multi-hitting health bar the hulks, that'd make for a great variant. Love the feedback of screenshakes and such. Super fun.
Nice work! I ended up at near 600K points and wave 15. For the last few levels I was just holding the space bar, but overall I had a lot of fun with it. The text was hilarious BTW. "No-bid overpriced swoopy jet incoming", haha... So good.
Oh man, this was a hoot, George! Played all the way through. It ended up being a solid but playable challenge and I enjoyed it!
Woah! SUPER well done! Love the game mechanic in general. I'm so impressed that for a jam like this you had time to make the puzzles so well done and clever. Such a daunting daunting task! Love it!
Nice work, really great use of the theme. In retrospect, stealing things and dealing with the issues of having more at once was something I should have tried, it only occurred to me about 2/3rds into the compo, haha.
Really nice!!! Turned out super polished. Loved all the menu and HUD work, consistent style, design of the areas, theme... just all came together really well. The music was slick too.
Hahaha, too cool. Although I never quite figured out the effective use of the bear "ROAR!", the animation for that alone busted me up. I had a legit good time playing this! On my Xbox style controller the fire button wasn't the trigger, but X button, so using both sticks and that random input for firing was rough... but I got used to it quickly!
Super props for making something physics based. That's like kryptonite for short time periods, it seems.
Nice audio and splashy effects as crates interact with the water :)
BAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! Man that was funny... as a fellow member of the "make stupid noises for sounds" club, I heartily enjoyed that.
The control scheme was really intuitive and it really NAILED the theme. I found myself playing it "just one more" over and over again. So good. Well done!
That was really slick! The different swirly effects and overall style was well done. I really dug that.
This game is SOOOO dumb. So dumb.
I love it :) I was laughing out loud before hitting play, from the title alone.
Lots of cool stuff there. I'm a sucker for the "petri dish playspace" thing, especially the blurring focus thing. Early on I was pretty confused, I admit... and if I could change one thing I'd make the forceps change art to a "closed" version when holding the button, so I knew it was doing something (some original confusion was from that)... *BUT* overall after figuring that out, I really like it. Good stuff!!! Hat's off!
Some good ideas and nice level design. Wall jumpy stuff was definitely finicky... but overall really enjoyed it. Love the simple little movement animation, haha.
Hahahha, I'm now quite comfortable with my role in life as a "sabagoose". :) Funny stuff, the voice was busting me up :)
Thanks so much, all!!! I really had a blast doing this one!
I knew the goofy humor wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but I giggled :)
Now, need to find some time to go review a load of other games!
Yep, was just super busy and haven't had a chance to go play others yet. Will shortly though! Thanks!
Oh, yeah, I'll add a mac build asap.
OK, link to the Mac build. Identical source files and content, just swapped to my MacBook to do the build.
Thanks!!! Much appreciated!
So, the water is just 3 separate disc meshes, each a little lower than the next... big round subdivided sheets, with some jitter on it, then smoothed... and they all spin slowly in different directions. I only got to the water in the last HOUR of work, and nearly panicked at how to pull it off easily.
Then I made like 2 big scattered debris meshes with a solid dark color on them, a shark and hammerhead, and just attached them to the lower most disk. The motion of the sharks is TOTALLY nonsensical, hahahhaa, like they're caught in some ridiculous underwater vortex or something.
Doh! Seems to be the wrong game in that vid?
Hahha, thanks all! Glad people seem to dig it!
Really slick concept for puzzle based gameplay. Definitely works for the theme really well, and super massive kudos for creating a puzzle game on a time limit like this. That's serious pressure ;)
Haha, I'm so lost with this one. BUT MAN!!! I *REALLY* love the aesthetic of it. So perfectly retro-lovely. The setting, the critters talking, the hex based stuff. Love it.
Good stuff, nice work pulling it all together!
Fantastic stuff! Love the visuals, the random characters, theme, the general scenario is awesome... it all really came together.
I wasn't quite sure if I was supposed to react to EVERY thing over someone's head? Like, the smiley face, etc...
The people "doing it" just killed me, ahhaha.
HA! Fun stuff! I'm dumb enough that it took me two playthroughs to realize the star position was the direction of the next venue... once that clicked I blew through a lot of them.
Great use of theme and humor :)
Good stuff! I really like how you have to back into the crates, well done. I tried always driving in reverse, and flipped the truck, haha.
HAH! This was awesome, REALLY well done :) Love the theme use so much, and the whole thing was clever and witty and humorous. Nice stuff :)
Hey, tried the link to the Mac build and get a "no file" error I'm afraid. Might check that link and update it? Cheers!
Really nice work! It totally ended up as "gory splatoon", which is such a great general idea for a game.
The super over the top UI elements still bust me up. Aaaaaaaall the subtlety :)
Man, that seems like a lot of work went into that. Well done!!! I'm a sucker for a good rogue-like :)
JUST BRILLIANT!!! Funniest thing I've played, best audio, SPOT on the theme... just a total slow clap all around!
Awesome! Loved all the polish such as the expanding UI instructions and such. Really cool. I'm always in awe of jam games that have puzzles to create while they're being made, that must be such a pain. Well done!
Interesting stuff, good decision making to be had. The slow pacing kind of helps as it's not immediately obvious what the effects are of your actions.
Really well done. I died SO often from the bouncing lava balls... but still was really well executed. Cheers!
Hey, great job, Jim!!! The character feels really powerful, especially throwing the hammer around and all manner of enemies being trashed by it. Well done as always!
This was awesome! Super retro vibe, some fun decision making, music was awesome... very unique. Well done, all around!!!
Super visceral feeling when you're bouncing all over the place! Fun little setting.
Hey! That is really cool, a great little gameplay twist and some neat polish to boot. Felt good while playing it, which is all we can really ask, right? :)
Thanks for all the comments!!!
Heads up that I had to leave on a 4 day trip right after submitting, so I haven't had a chance to play other games yet, but I will asap!
Awwww thanks so much for the praise, all!!! This Jam really feel into place quickly... not the usual, haha
Had an issue with the MAC build but fixed it (I think)
I love a good metaphor for game creation, haha. Some neat art/visuals as well. Really well done, congrats to the team!
Love how this came together, really well done. Playing with physics is always a plus in itself, but the art and setting elevated it even more. Good stuff!
Nice work! Took a second to figure out the weapon swapping, but once that was sorted out I was off and running. Really well done!!!
Great stuff! Really well presented, great critters :D
Holy crap... you all really went all out with this one! Really ambitious for a game jam, but you all pulled it off. Well done!
Had some issues sorting out controls initially... but really well done!
Neat stuff, interesting mechanics! Definitely a great use of theme and well executed :)
Oh hey! Nice work! I did the Clucked Up chicken wrangling game where you controlled a herd of the same critter as well. It's cool to see other takes on that. I dug this. After I realized the mouse was active and I could use it to help with controls, and also using other surfaces to align my robots, I really got into it. Bravo!
Hey, nice work. Good idea to have many game options in a single download like that. Well done.
HAHAHAH! Died laughing while playing this. Talk about nailing the theme! Had a lot of fun, even as simple as the controls were I was pretty fixated on it. Bravo!
I super love the bouncy little animations :) Well done.
Wow, intense and interesting stuff! I like the kind of possibility space this setting allows, lots of simple actions creating neat little moments. Really cool. Art is awesome, sound turned out great, love it!
Wow, this turned out great. Love the retro art style, very well executed. The animation of lighting the torch is a rewarding payoff. Just all kinds of great little polish, like the UI, etc... Awesome.
Suuuuper slick! Nice art, smart use of assets and theme, good writing, amazing sound... just solid all the way around. I wasn't quite sure what the heart on the left was doing, at one point it died but the game kept going? But, really cool stuff, well done!!!
Man, that was super ambitious, and well executed. Awesome work all around!
Man, ship that puppy, hahahaha. Great theme, vibe, just the whole package really came together. Bad ass.
Super super slick!!!
Fuuuun! Really love the art style and general design. Great balance of style, humor, and art... nice work!
Man, what an amazing love letter to classic graphics... really nailed the whole vibe. Loved the NPCs dialogue and general silliness!
Honestly, out of some 6 ludum dares I've participated in, I think this might be my favorite project. I'm a dog fan, so maybe I'm biased, but this is one of the most touching games I might have played, much less for an LD entry.
I really loved this. Seriously great work.
Very strange and interesting, kinda loved it! Took me a little bit to figure out what was going on, but I really loved the whole overall vibe. Great art! Good stuff overall.
We've seen this sort of "move bits of the world around" gameplay before, but this is done exceptionally well, clever puzzles, and generally slick execution that it's really out of the ball park for a Ludum Dare game. Really great.
Way slick... I'm always so blown away by people who are able to make games with puzzles involved in such a tight timespan. Awesome.
HAHA!!! Super fun! Was really neat to see that design concept executed so well!
Very cool stuff... as I mentioned on someone else's game I'm always amazed when people make short game jam games that have puzzles in them!
Awesome work, as always George! Once I realized the raindrops were individual things to be avoided, I had a LOT of fun with it. Really damn cool. Great mood, great use of the theme.
Very cool. Great art especially. Took me a long time to figure out that you drag the specific potion art onto the dragons to apply them. But, once I got that down, it went smoothly. I can see how this would escalate in difficulty well.
Thanks so much for the comments all. Mostly I'm sorry the time ran out before I worked in a really satisfying "SMACK!" sound effect and some sort of "DEAD!" alert to sell that moment... but I was pretty happy with the result.
Thanks Space Wiz!
If I had to make it more involved, I'd probably try things like giving you fixed "phases" of a specific time to survive in, so it's a taste of victory often. Then maybe upgrades for performance? Different levels having different ratios of food, some food having a smaller limited lifespan, etc... so just "make food more interesting".Also perhaps sticky areas that have food in them, but make you slow down a bit.
Also, I'd consider attempting to make eating a function of rapid clicks, so it's more baseline interactive and you might feel more tense if you're actively doing something while being nervous about the next attack.
Just brain dumping though... Mostly I try to make game jam games easily digestible and quick. I know so many people have such short attention spans, haha. :)
Thanks for the feedback, all! Glad you liked it!
WOAH, just excellent! Loved this so much... the music in particular synced so well with the art style to create a really unique environment. Also using the phone as the key object in the game was hilarious. Well done!
This turned out really really well, especially for the time involved! I love the simple art style and general vibe of it. Nice work!
Great stuff, man! Very cool art, and neat vibe, for sure. Good luck!
Great theme tied into the gameplay so well. Awesome work.
Hahaha, this was as funny as it was brutal. Great production values, writing, etc... well done!!
This was simply bad ass. I loved it. Clever and artistic, easy to pick up, full of interesting little moments. Just awesome, really well done.
Puuuuuurty! Amazing work, especially given the time limits. Well done!
Holy cow... ship that! Really top notch stuff!!!
Had a lot of fun with this, although man, the challenge was crazy on the dipping/cooling level with figuring out what to do. I ended up having to play on easy mode after flailing at it for several attempts not understanding how the beats were intended to work.
The art was way cool, very stylish, and the general vibe was excellent. Really great stuff!
Man, some really slick polish elements in there! The audio in particular was excellent, and I tip my hat to the modelers and UI skills for sure. Nice work!
