LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Senilescape by Xaychru 2014-04-29T18:02:00

Daring! Amazing! I loved this. I think it's the best I've played so far. I can't think of anything critical to say. I guess the controls aren't my favourite (too slippery I guess) but the game is just great. I loved it, and I beat it. It felt amazing, the feeling of running away is great. 10/10

our god lives underground by Andrew Shouldice 2014-04-29T00:17:00

Beautiful, amazing mood/atmosphere. I love the large grain sizes and awesome shadows. You really know how to put together a game

Burrow Down by danbo 2014-05-01T01:08:00

Man, this is really really good. Don't dwell on the things you didn't get in, it's a jam, it's bound2 happen! What you have here is really fun. You mostly said what can be said about it in your comments (ie the mind blade is over powered). I guess I really wanted to go in those doors/up those stairs and they were just walls which kinda made me sad. But you did an excellent job in this. Top marks for most categories

Burrow Down by danbo 2014-05-01T01:12:00

Oh yeah, I also started following you on twitter because of that end screen

The Sun And Moon by managore 2014-05-05T21:54:00

Absolutely AMAZING! Great job. Genius gameplay mechanic and some genius level design in there. Also your difficulty balance is superb (not too hard too fast and not too easy). Only wish was there was a better ending. And maybe a different looped song every now and then :P

Great graphics too btw.

Le Ver by GamerTaters 2014-05-01T00:44:00

Very good! I loved this. A very cool experience. Also I love worm games LOL! The noisy camera effect was very good. Great music and narration. At first when I saw the shiny dirt surrounding me I was hoping there'd be a creepy twist that he was like on the inside of a human or something. But I guess it's for the best that didn't happen...

Dig Hard by petey123567 2014-05-03T18:20:00

I won!

I loved this game. Had to play till the end. Hilarious, controls well, very very fun.

I think i found one bug where I could keep shooting the lava and it could keep blowing up.

It Came from Beneath the Surface: Wormgun by BoneDaddy 2014-04-28T21:57:00

Thanks for the feedback! I've noticed the game controls terribly with the keyboard (dunno how i missed that) so if you have a controller available PLEASE PLAY WITH THE CONTROLLER! Sorry about that...

It Came from Beneath the Surface: Wormgun by BoneDaddy 2014-04-30T01:53:00

It is beatable. I have done it many times

UNDERQUEST by Tweak 2014-04-29T00:32:00

Great looking game! Love the style and concept. Could be fleshed out a bit stronger and I'd be looking forward to playing a post jam game that takes the game a bit further. One thing I didn't realize at first was there's a timer, and I hit a door right when the timer went off and thought the door had killed me.

Magnum by jsspiegel 2014-04-29T01:43:00

I've actually never played a typing game in my adulthood, so congrats on getting me to finally play one! Love the graphics and sounds. Very very short though. Also why is the file size so large?

I really need to watch zoolander again... in my adulthood

It Came From The Sewer by Catman 2014-04-30T23:34:00

The graphics are absolutely delicious and they work really well with the sounds. This makes for a great mood. The little girls are absolutely hilarious and adorable, I love the way they laugh when idling. The game is unfair though and sometimes I didn't understand why what I was doing wasn't working (aliens would go down a weird tube, or I wouldn't know how many "hits" a girl would take before she was eaten). Pretty cool stuff though

Treasure Orgy by NukeTheBunnys 2014-04-29T01:36:00

I love this kind of stuff. After a long night of playing and rating LD games, it's great to get something like this to relax me. Thank you so much

RoboCopter Bomb Squad by RARoadkill 2014-04-29T00:48:00

700 mb later... Space quits? Or did it crash?

I unfortunately didn't drop the bomb. I found the game pretty hard and difficult to control. Great effect though when shooting and the explosions are really nice. Also the lighting is great, so it's a pretty good looking game.

Escape from the depths! The ascension of the almighty one! by randoman 2014-04-29T14:42:00

Extremely difficult precision platformer! I unfortunately couldn't get past level 2. Very smart how you worked in the moonwalk. Great job!

Under a Martial Artist's Skin by jujule 2014-05-03T22:22:00

Hahahaha, the text to this is great. Especially the winning text. Hilarious. The dithering can made the screen appear wavy to me (loved it, some may find it irritating).

I was absolutely confused how to play at first, but then I figured it out, probably by reading the controls better. The second level doesn't off much in terms of forgiveness and I died on it a number of times. The final boss had much better pacing and was fairly easy. I found the music a bit silly for the theme.

Loved the jiggle physics, the narrative and the graphics were cool. Thanks for making this

Descent by alyphen 2014-05-01T00:27:00

I HATED the controls at first, but eventually I got use to them. I loved the style a lot, pretty good atmosphere. Really good job on the music. Amazing number of features for a jam game, really impressive what you put into this. I think the difficulty this game has is mostly from the unusual controls. That's kind of this game's thing though. Making them easier would get rid of the difficulty. So I think you're kind of in a tough spot on how to further develop this. One control option would be to allow for the controls to based on where you're facing (ie if you press right, you turn right instead of swinging all the way to the absolute right as it does now). But then again that may get rid of the whole feeling. Hmm... you could make it so pressing right turns you clockwise and doesn't stop turning you till you're facing the other direction completely (as it does now). That may be an option to consider.

Inside Look Activity Book by rylgh 2014-05-01T02:06:00

This is beyond awesome. The lighting on the tile is really good. The creepiness of the maggots and the spiders! I LOVE IT! I think it might be a bit glitchy though

Castle Engineer by KayZ 2014-04-28T00:52:00

36! I like the green sonic. I think the difficulty could ramp up a bit quicker in the beginning as it can be pretty repetitive at first, but once it starts getting fast it gets funner.

Wriggle Worm by gikdew 2014-04-28T11:41:00

Worm games FTW! Great looking graphics. Fun simple game. Love the style

Wriggle Worm by gikdew 2014-04-28T11:45:00

Having read through the comments, I have to say I do like the flashing and don't mind the sounds. I guess the sounds could be softer for a more mass-appeal but whatever

Gubble Quest by Somfunambulist 2014-05-01T01:30:00

I say this on every game that has the Yoyo installer, PLEASE just use the .exe. I don't want to have to install stuff! Click'n'play baby!

This game is adorable. You have a really good way with the dialogue with the player. The gubble is really cute especially his idle animation. The lightning is really good. I did find a bug on the opening screen the first time I played it where I pushed space and then it didn't let me do anything. I also got stuck (and it seems before other people.. I couldn't even get the lighter...). I had the cup and the boots on, but I couldn't figure out how to get anything else. Oh well... I find it a bit funny that you have this really good looking room switching system and lightning effect, then funny little things like using dialog boxes (show_message I believe) for the dialogue, and GUI rendering under the table bug. But those are completely excusable this being a jam. Also your gubble on the start menu looks a lot like a dick drawing. That opening effect btw when you bang off the key is beyond good. Great job on that

Gubble Quest by Somfunambulist 2014-05-03T18:24:00

Yeah when you click "Create Application" using GM now you gotta make sure it saves it as "Single runtime executable" instead of "Windows NSIS Installer" under "Save as type"

UNDER by ENDESGA 2014-05-04T23:11:00

Love the graphics. The paralax is really cool. The fade at the bottom is cool too, and the variety of enemy looks is great. Interesting control scheme. Sometimes I wasn't overly sure why I was getting hurt (think they were just popping up beneath me) and would die pretty quickly sometimes. Very cool concept though, great work

Sea's Bounty by jayemjee 2014-04-29T00:53:00

Nice I beat it! I feel really fat when I'm carrying too much treasure LOL! This game also reminds me of an old Mario party game. Nice mermaid

The Golden Bean by Greg Power 2014-04-29T18:26:00

really really cool. love the sounds a graphics. I find it really hard to wrap my head around and I haven't managed above 6 bops yet. Really glad I saw this one though, one of the more unique jams I've played

Super Plumber Brothers by arrogant.gamer 2014-05-01T01:46:00

I couldn't stop laughing at this. Really funny. Got stuck in a block once though. Also could use with way smoother controls, some variable jumping maybe. I got 8 flowers. Saw 3 more before i got stuck though. So I kinda matched your highscore

Icesome! by DNA Yarn 2014-05-03T21:21:00

Pretty cool. The graphics are nice. It took me two tries before I realized what I was suppose to be doing. I was a bit confused by the sound of just hitting the ship (thought I may've been damaging it when I was damaging myself). In the end, I didn't really get the hang of it.

Bubble Dream by denvil 2014-04-28T01:22:00

The graphics are pretty nice, especially that bubble rainbow effect. It took me a while to get a hang of jumping, but once I figured out how to do the high double jump consistently it made the game a lot funner (relative velocity for the jump). The physics could be better, you get stuck on stuff all the time which doesn't feel great. Jump through platforms would be my go to for this style of game. I managed to beat every level. However I thought the last level was a boss that I could kill, and with ctrl as attack, I hit my windows key and chose to shutdown my computer by mistake! Not my ideal choice of key, but to each their own. Later figured out you didn't have to beat up the guy... It's nice though that all the scores are saved! Is there anything suppose to happen after all levels are beat? Maybe I didn't beat them good enough

DrawL by hoqjed 2014-04-29T18:33:00

Great graphics and audio work. Never played a game that made use of the scroll wheel like that, so I gave you full innovation marks. However I did find it rather tiring. Also it seemed like I died more or less in the same spot everytime. Is there a refil on your sun eventually? Or are you suppose to just die? (Even when I avoided the orbs I still died)

DrawL by hoqjed 2014-04-29T18:33:00

DrawL by hoqjed 2014-04-29T18:34:00

Whoops, sorry for the double post. I meant to add that a restart when you die would be really useful.

pod by TomCooper3D 2014-04-30T01:30:00

Tom, you did great on this game. One of the best of the bunch. Understanding of the "objective" would be better although that kinda defeats the purpose now doesn't it

Exile by elliottd 2014-04-29T00:26:00

Really good work on the stair climbing and ledge grabbing. The chest opening was pretty amazing too. Wish the physics were a bit smoother on wall sliding. I have to wonder, was she exiled for being too human?

Scratch Ticket Fate by XenosNS 2014-04-30T23:24:00

Debt freedom! Bankruptcy!? BAD ACID TRIP!? Chronic illness and homelessness.... what kind of prizes are these!?

I love the flashing stars on "You Won!!!". The scratching is pretty cool too. I think this is the cleverest use of the theme I've seen.

Sundiver by kmakai 2014-04-29T17:32:00

I really like the whole corruption being represented by corrupted/glitch graphics. Reminds me of Space Funeral a bit. I have a soft spot for that kind of stuff.

The jam game is really difficult. I don't think I got past the second level ever. The fading light mechanic when you get hit is really cool. The only thing is it becomes super small pretty quick and it really pushes you into death at that point. Maybe a regeneration of it (besides collecting the teeny tiny green squares) would make the game funner and less hopeless when you've gotten hurt.

It Came from Beneath the Surface of the Sea! by JavadocMD 2014-04-29T00:36:00

Loved taking down all that is wrong with this world! I accidentally skipped the intro though. You can kinda just run through it as well to get to the end, won't do much for getting a hiscore but people could abuse it.

Beneath the City by deepnight 2014-04-29T18:56:00

Very well put together game, extremely nice graphics and audio. Great job on the jam!

I'm not who I am by Tik 2014-05-04T23:29:00

I played through it twice, got ending 1 and 5. Was a nice idea, done fairly well. A lot of spelling mistakes though.

It Came From... Beneath!! by Deozaan 2014-05-01T01:58:00

Worm games... worm games forever ya'll!

This game is surprisingly fun. Very simple and fun. Excellent decision regarding the camera. I think if you combined the way your worm gets cut in half with the mechanic of multiple worms from this game (http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-29/?action=preview&uid=527), you'd have an amazing combo. Imagine instead of ever hurting the player, you're just giving them more worms to have running around! You know, cause don't worms have like 5 hearts and like live when you cut them in half?

Mind Hacker by Martin Senovsky 2014-04-28T11:57:00

Love the graphics, especially the animations. The people getting knocked over are hilarious! The voices were cute. I completed all the objectives, but nothing really happened. Is there an ending at all?

Hair Spirit Adventure by messthem team 2014-04-29T18:18:00

"Bad file length."

Didn't load for me either :'( You should include source

Divernaut by Garris 2014-05-03T22:56:00

Hilarious opening text.

Got stuck going down on the crab (lost to the crab, then went through the alternate entrance to get to him). I found him too hard so I gave up there. It was a good throw back to the classic Zelda GB game with the whole overhead and platforming. I think it could use some health upgrades and the control could be faster. Cool game!

Candorem by slumber 2014-04-29T01:29:00

ughh!! I keep falling off the edge right under that big ghost after the first yellow health checkpoint!! I must be getting too tired, will have to try to beat it again in the morning (I feel like this is something I should be able to do!!)

The menus after the reset are really annoying. Be nice to either use keyboard instead of mouse clicks to navigate or to reset within the level (preferably at a yellow checkpoint, perhaps I didn't get far enough to find a checkpoint though).

The graphics (background especially) and lighting are really nice. Great job on the special effects, especially the shots. The music is cutesy but doesn't fit overly well :P Great job guys!

The Puddle by lonewookie 2014-04-29T17:41:00

very cool concept. Love the use of theme in this one. A valuable life lesson to be learned as well! Really makes ones remember their childhood imagination.

The game could really use some effects for when you die. It'd go a long way to making it feel better. Also I couldn't reach the fourth key and I am unsure if there's an end to this. It's pretty funny seeing the guy stuck in the top of the puddle!

The Puddle by lonewookie 2014-04-29T17:43:00

Also wanted to say that even though I usually HATE water levels, I didn't hate this one!

Underground by Nnoel 2014-04-30T02:06:00

Very cool. Really good work on the upgrade system. You did a good job on this.

At first I didn't know you could press right click to dig, not sure if there's an easier way to address that to players who are stunned like me. One thing that was a huge problem was I kept clicking off screen and losing focus of the game. The difficulty ramp was also too slow at first and then too steep for me. Died on the second or third yellow level.

I think this game would work really well in the metroidvania genre. if you were to continue making it, consider how you could mix in digging and upgrades with exploration rather than just having the same repetitive action levels.

Free Fall by Warzone Gaming 2014-05-01T01:35:00

The effects are super good in this. Great work on that, plus the audio works great with the game. The little guy is hilarious to watch. I think the game is unfair though. Like you're not able to get past all obstacles. And sometimes a rock will just come out of no where and kill you. Controls could also be smoother. Really glad you had a great time making this, you done good

Avenge Them! by BoTreats 2014-04-29T00:14:00

You gotta get both endings to get the full effect of this game. Clearly you're a man who understands honour. I liked the smoke puff effects a lot.

Escape from Rigel 12 by Damian Schloter 2014-04-29T14:38:00

Very cool game. The digging mechanic is amazing. I got up to the top but there was only a locked door. Wish I could've gone through it. Probably a pickup I missed...

Beneath the Surface by Milktoast 2014-04-29T01:03:00

A great look on the classic! I loved spamming the air with missiles to see those beautiful colours. Personally I find the game a bit slow for my tastes (includes the original) but I think that says more about me than it does about this version

Gems of the Deep by FyberOptic 2014-04-29T00:56:00

That screenshot looks so good, but unfortunately I cannot play it. It won't work on my PC (Windows 7). Nothing happens when I click run... :(

Dungeons and Bombs by visard 2014-05-04T23:06:00

I escaped the dungeon! But it just portaled me to another one. Damn portal... Did that a few more times, but I quit after a while. The controls are tiring to the hands. The bomb's fuse is so short and the game doesn't seem to have a timer for how often you can make moves, so it basically comes down to pressing buttons as fast as possible, which is tiring. The game is like an adventurous bomberman, which is pretty cool. Needs a bit more variety though, some level design could help instead of what appears to be randomly generated levels.

Take Root by HatCat 2014-05-01T00:13:00

I love this style of game. I completely forgot you could move the camera and only grew up top for the first few rounds of my first play. Perhaps having the mouse move the camera when you're near the edges would make it a bit more obvious. The graphical style while really simple was clear and understandable. I think the game suffers from lack of variety... I'm trying to put my finger on it, but I think it's because it's too easy once you figure out all you have to do is dig down. A better combination of economy effects (not sure if that's the right term lol) would do this game wonders.

Cubic Caves (Ludum Dare 48 Hours) by FileCorrupted 2014-04-28T11:37:00

very pretty! I agree with Crefossus on the F5/F6 controls being hard to hit. The defend in the centre concept has a lot of potential, be nice to see you elaborate a bit more on offense, possibly upgrades and stuff in the vein of "Hold off Red" by MattMakesGames. Great job for puking all weekend!

It Came From Below! by TowelKing 2014-05-01T01:49:00

Extremely difficult. I'm always getting killed very quickly.

Deep Water by nagual 2014-05-04T23:34:00

No idea how to pick up the treasure. Although I did get one once. The audio in this is amazing! Really good job on that. The camera work could be much better though

Coral Caverns by Chronoberry 2014-05-03T21:33:00

That opening was hilarious! The controls were fairly loose, but it never became too much of a problem. I did manage to win in the end. I like the imaginative use of the theme (saw another game where the theme was used with puddles which I liked aswell) A nice short simple game. Well done!

Magma Shuttle by Kentiya 2014-05-04T22:56:00

The introduction text was very good. Set up a nice little setting. The game itself is pretty barebones, your basic avoid obstacles forever game. The controls are decent (nice slidiness to them) and the graphics are decent too. The one (I think) sound effect is fitting. The game needs variation though. Also is pretty boring until the speed picks up, but once it does it is entertaining.

Reading the comments, I think what rorycooke says would improve the game greatly. Maybe not so fast to begin with, because you don't want it to get too fast too quick. But certainly something to speed it up (maybe even powerups to speed you up/increase your score)

Aqua Nick in Deep Sea Danger by Bad Dog Studios 2014-04-29T00:42:00

Please don't use an installer when distributing game maker games. I know Yoyo claims people don't like seeing .exes, but zipping those and sending them around is much more accessible.

Game quit on me almost as soon as I started it up (went to the boat by mistake). It'd be nice if it didn't quit but just restarted or something. Same with when you run out of oxygen.

I like aqua nick's dog paddle a lot. Also the gradients are nice. The game reminds me a bit of an old Mario Party minigame. Could do with some sound effects when you hit the enemies (took me a second to realize they were taking a way my oxygen).

Good job!

Thirst by TeamPurpleDolphins 2014-04-29T01:58:00

wow, very cool! PEOPLE! Play this in fullscreen!

Normally I hate games with forced narrative like at the beginning, but I found this one to be very compelling. Great job! Loved it!

FoxyTank by matthias_zarzecki 2014-04-29T01:16:00

Ah I somehow knew this was an Icarus Tyler game the moment I clicked on the page. I've been a huge fan of your Vertical Void game, play it very often and am always interested in seeing what you do next.

The game is a lot smoother/softer than your other games, and in a good way. It looks nice and sounds nice and plays nice. However it lacks the edge that makes Vertical Void or that Drill game you made fun. Maybe those games were somewhat broken, and this game is not, it's very rounded corners. It means you're improving as a game maker which is great. I'm just hoping your next game will be the one that blows me away like Vertical Void.

As for the gameplay itself, it's very easy to get lost. I'd like to see a radar or something to help me get back to my ship at the end. I did manage eventually, but I had started a grid search. Perhaps some better visual ques would be good enough. Also I didn't like the end, wish you spend a bit more time on that.

Anyways keep making games, I love you man!

The Transgression by increpare 2014-05-03T21:17:00

Very cool little game. Great use of the theme for sure.

Wyrmery by Jonathan Whiting 2014-04-30T01:52:00

Finally another Worm game! I was getting worried. When I was making my worm game, I had originally planned on doing something more in the vein of this with chompin on people, but instead took a simpler level based approach. Really glad you made this.

The game looks great. I love the style and the colours. The worms move beautifully. It's very powerful when one of your babies is wriggling next to you. Also the wiggle to go faster is genius and really well done. I got to 4 worms I think and couldn't really make anymore due to the ground being too broken and me getting hit by bombs a bunch. I think a bit of sound and some juice could take this game a long way, score or something would be nice although making it more objective-based may clash with you style. Great job!

The Oubliette Within by Dietrich Epp 2014-05-03T21:44:00

That was EXCELLENT! I love the graphics a lot (could do with some animations). The core gameplay mechanic is a bit lacking, could be funner. But the use of theme here is great. A few months back I did a take on exploring one's fears at a jam (platformer as well), so I can really appreciate what you accomplished here. Love this kind of stuff, very good work.

Iron Descent by Cactose 2014-05-03T21:28:00

The game froze on me in the third level. I was shooting the cannons a bunch. And then again in the fifth level (I think).

The intro was pretty cool, really set the mood well. The background in the first level was also cool. The game is rather simple, but fun enough once you get the hang of it. Also liked the use of slow gravity.

Nuclear Arms 3: Atomic Reckoning by Logicon 2016-12-13T12:39:00

Killbane has some sick arms Commander President. Good to see more first person games without the shooting kind of guns. Hands for life.

Found the interacting of objects (E to pickup) to be jenky, could be smoother. Eventually I was overrun by aliens.

Galactic Petting Zoo!!! by BoneDaddy 2016-12-13T11:59:00

@NotExplosive: Holding down the mouse button should stop your movement, it should then allow you to move the hand with the mouse. Try going out in the open (don't be near any walls or creatures). Then move your mouse up and to the left (sometimes it can go offscreen on the bottom/right). As well use W/S to move it in/out of the screen.

If you're still having troubles, mind telling me what platform you're running it on?

Galactic Petting Zoo!!! by BoneDaddy 2016-12-13T12:00:00

@Birke: To pet more animals: Once you pet an animal enough (in the case of the first animal, you have to pet both its head and body to make it happy), the door you came through will re-open. Then you can leave the petting zoo. If you start again, there'll be a different animal.

Galactic Petting Zoo!!! by BoneDaddy 2016-12-13T18:25:00

To see other galactic animals, you have to pet the animals enough until the door opens. The first animal you have to pet both its head and belly to make it happy enough to open the door (that's why it takes longer than the others).

Galactic Petting Zoo!!! by BoneDaddy 2016-12-16T22:28:00

@Sean: My idea for the final room is that you're the one who is now the animal to be pet, trapped inside this room. It's really interesting to see how other people interpret (my dad had the same idea as you with petting the walls, and then tried petting himself). In case you didn't stick around long enough, the level will end eventually (just timer based). I was originally planning on having other ways to re-open the door (such as moving the animal onto a button) but decided due to time constraints and also to focus more on petting, I'd just make everything progress by petting except the last room. As for the floating hand, I wanted to add more stuff outside and just decided to re-use that model. Didn't think anyone would look at it hard enough to realize it was your hand!

I agree about the intro audio, wish I had at least turned the volume down on that one.

Cyborg Ninja Training Room by MrErdalUral 2016-12-13T16:33:00

Pretty cool concept with the melee attack. Needs a bit of refinement, but that's jam-life. Sometimes I didn't know why I was getting killed.

Great idea, funny concept, but I am way too lazy to pass this essay.

Freeze & Crush by levubivenatus 2016-12-13T17:28:00

This game is hilariously fun at first. I think if you made it a bit smoother it could be something

Live to Die Again by FisherG 2016-12-13T02:23:00

I see someone's been following their art of the camera shake ;)

Had a bit of difficulty switching weapons occaisionally. Think it could use more punch with the sound effects. Would be interesting to see what unique features you could add to this style of game.

Khaos Arena by TheFlyingSatan 2016-12-13T17:53:00

353 beasts. Pretty decent. Sometimes the enemies don't freeze during the upgrades. Sometimes I lose a lot of health without realization. Are the upgrades cumulative?

Space Junk by imphenzia 2016-12-14T15:31:00

Really good graphics. I especially like the way the astronaut died. It was fun finding all the different ways to die. The game itself seems pretty relaxed. Pretty good for a web game. I did find the restart took too long though (be nice to just be able to click through it).

keturi by mitkus 2016-12-13T18:17:00

Really cool. First PICO game I've seen for this jam. How many levels are there?

BossRoom by Doomdad 2016-12-13T17:46:00

This is a really great idea for a game. Was surprised after my first death, good variety in characters you play as. It is pretty hard to play as the skull. Could also use a bit more polish/emphasis on attacks/inflicting damage. At first I thought I could pick up the sword on the right.

Creeping Darkness by sunesson.emil 2016-12-14T19:00:00

I like this kind of game. Overall pretty simple. Took me a long time to realize you had to press "Start" to start the game (also it was offscreen at first), might be a good idea to make the game loop within itself. Sometimes I'd get hiccups where it'd freeze for a bit then run very fast and I'd end up losing control of the character and die.

One Night by freyby 2016-12-13T18:14:00

Really good graphics and decent audio. The gameplay is really slow and really difficult

Vespias: Battle for the pentacle by Xwilarg 2016-12-16T23:04:00

Hmm the control scheme was pretty confusing to me. Is there any reason you went with that scheme vs WASD? I'm not sure I fully understood what I was ever doing.

Good job for you first jam!

LocusLudi by AcuadoyStudios 2016-12-23T01:28:00

Really wanted to try your game, but I couldn't get it to run. I've had this trouble with other jars (although some have worked), so maybe it's something on my end. Sorry. But good job completing the compo! That's an achievement in itself.

LocusLudi by AcuadoyStudios 2016-12-31T04:28:00

Hey, I tried the .exe and it still won't work on my computer :( I'm going to try it again on a different one tomorrow.

COHAV Culmination Of Hatred And Violence by Lord_404 2016-12-22T18:44:00

The feel is pretty good. The platforming is a bit heavy for me though. I think I like games that are floatier, just a personal preference

Tower of Doom by Levin 2016-12-13T02:05:00

The fact that you don't die when getting smacked around by obstacles is great. Love having fun ramming off stuff and watching the physics unfold, need to see more of that. I think you might have a fun concept here if you expand on that idea more. Less punishment, more fun and whacky movement.

Keeping track of the high score would be an easy way to improve the game significantly.

Down the Cave by CandyCreep 2016-12-13T12:49:00

Cute graphics! Sometimes the controls would mess up (or at least feel that way, like the character would start moving in a direction I didn't intend, or wouldn't respond. I was using FireFox, playing the web build). I think the game could use more "oomph". The tiny graphics make it feel dainty, when I kind of expect to feel more powerful from this kind of game.

VaporArenaWave クール by Tilemapping 2016-12-15T01:01:00

Very cool aesthetic. I played the post-compo version and I am rating based on that AND I DON'T CARE WHAT THE CONSEQEUNCES AR#E

Laser Panic by ACCBDD 2016-12-13T01:59:00

Woah nice job on the rope. I like the movement. Fun to get into the groove of grappling around.

Escape The Room by DevilLime 2016-12-16T15:20:00

That was pretty cute. The two codes are cleverly hidden (especially the second one).

INF by jack-lance 2016-12-15T02:43:00

This game is nuts! I love it so much. Amazing job

Furnished by m.v. 2016-12-14T18:56:00

The voices make this game. I played this with my girlfriend, and we were pretty confused as to what we were doing. Definitely an interesting concept.

Dodge, Dash, Dip, Dive and Duck by Maffew 2016-12-14T21:56:00

This is a very interesting movement mechanic, I don't think I've seen it before (although I guess you can think of it as just top down, but for some reason it doesn't feel that way). When I grabbed the ducky in the top left corner, I thought I had beat the game because I went up into my hat (didn't hear the death sound effect). Only when I went to play the game again to explore the rest of the tomb did I realize the vines are what killed me.

Conștiență by Uliana Galich 2016-12-13T17:32:00

Hmm I got stuck a few times I tried this game. Not really sure how to progress in this one.

One Room Rush by cesisco 2016-12-14T18:42:00

This game is seriously awesome. One of the best I've played for this jam. The graphics are juiced up so well, great job!

the room by rogueNoodle 2016-12-13T12:58:00

Very stylish, and very interesting. I am really glad you decided to finish this. We hear stuff like "fail faster" so often that we sometimes end up scrapping stuff before we put in enough effort to realize what the concept could be. Spending that extra day to finish this and putting in the needed effort was a good decision.

Obelisk by Almax27 2016-12-17T18:44:00

Really good looking game, excellent presentation. The gameplay needs some work, hitting enemies isn't fun and the sound effects on it aren't great. The story is excellent, overall one of the best

Really good idea here. Gameplay could be better. Couldn't find any other players, expect a Hello Games style lawsuit in the future.

Tempus Machina by Pickens Inc. 2016-12-19T22:30:00

The switching mechanic reminds me of an old Matt Thorson/Dex game, Dim (http://www.mattmakesgames.com/, second from the bottom). There's was more puzzley while this is more actiony. Actually thinking about it, this reminds me of the first DuneWorld game we made (and is very bad, don't play it).

Good graphics, the concept of switching has a lot to be explored still and it's good to see more games do it. I think this game lacks a bit of a gameplay loop, didn't really find myself engaged enough (this is a very hard thing to figure out for an action game like this).

TILT Service by Birke 2016-12-13T12:29:00

Really cool. TiltBrush looks awesome. Very classic sci-fi. Also nice and short, perfect for a jam game.

Room Kingdom by Oxeren 2016-12-14T18:31:00

Pretty good, great length for a jam game too. Some of the graphics are a bit glitched (going through doors for example). I didn't like having to switch between mouse and keyboard, although I guess you have to for the computer stuff, the interacting stuff that required click probably didn't need it.

The Legend of ROOMBA by limmmmm 2016-12-13T16:27:00

Hilarious but frustrating to control. My high score is 57. I took the bar in the top left as a challenge (thought it would be a special of some kind), so I was pretty disappointed to see what happened when it did fill it up. Especially because it's not easy to fill it up.

Dizzy Danny by XenosNS 2016-12-13T13:02:00

This is pretty fun! Sometimes he doesn't shoot in the direction you're facing though. Kind of reminds me of BlastAbout

Very good concept. The choice of First Person perspective is interesting.

Puppertrator by NotExplosive 2016-12-13T12:23:00

The game runs pretty slowly on FireFox, should've used Chrome like you suggested. I loved the snap sound effect at the beginning. Very cute game. I'm not great at mysteries, ended up guessing it lol.

Subway Taxi by ambi 2016-12-14T18:45:00

Machina by Drtizzle 2016-12-14T22:10:00

This is pretty darn cool. I started playing the web version, but then downloaded. Definitely recommend everyone download this. The atmosphere is great in this game, I especially liked the time machine's effect when turned on. Great work with the audio overall.

Is there any specific reason you chose F for interact over the standard E?

Tim in Time by Alexbrainbox 2016-12-17T01:55:00

This is an extremely good jam game! The writing is superb, so funny. Looks great and sound great too. I did manage to get killed by dinosaurs while talking to the big one and have the dialog continue after restarting. The variety the platforming bit adds I think adds quite a bit to the game. Even though the ending is a cop out it kind of fits. I laughed the first time I read the note was from God. Great work, definitely one of the best I've played so far.

Santaur's Workshop by tweedle 2016-12-16T15:41:00

This game is hilarious. Loved the graphics and audio. Sometimes clicking the stars will put down defences where I wouldn't want them. Also I had no idea how much anything cost, so it was kind of hard to manage my resources.

ISS - Infuriating Space Simulator by Scruffy 2016-12-13T01:44:00

Love the idea of this game, absolutely beautiful. But I spent 5 minutes unable to get that door open. Tried restarting. I'd like to come back to it and play it some more later, especially if you ever decide to change the controls.

Christmas Factory by fauche_j 2016-12-13T18:00:00

Merry Christmas :) I'm surprised we don't see more holiday themed games considering the time of year.

I think Help should probably be up all the time. Also I am not sure if I broke it or not, but I kept clicking the #1-3 and then things seemed to have got stuck...

EntROOMpreneur by Pajama-Llama 2016-12-16T15:31:00

This is a really good idea with absolutely excellent art. It breaks really easily though. I'd like to play a version that is a bit more stable.

AREA 51 by Megalink 2016-12-13T02:40:00

This game is seriously bomb. Great jam game man, something I would've loved to have made if I were more competent at graphics. Really dig this.

GhostGun by pyokoanarogue 2016-12-15T02:35:00

Victory! Great art style, love the guns. Would love to see some indicator beforehand as to where the ghosts will spawn.

Mega Mecha Control Room by rburema 2016-12-14T22:50:00

Really good idea. I think the jump should allow for movement mid-air (sometimes it feels off).

SwapOrDie by theJoh 2016-12-16T15:46:00

A bank is a dangerous place by JK5000 2016-12-31T04:37:00

Great use of the theme! I found it pretty funny myself. Is it possible to beat?

Daedalight by Sundr0 2016-12-14T22:45:00

I beat it! That was pretty cool. I found the head bob after a while to be nauseating. I don't think I ever had any spatial understanding of the layout, just sorta brute forced my way through it. The story and aesthetics felt personal to me.

This Is The Only Room by Zeriver 2016-12-13T02:46:00

I only got to level 9.

I know you'll get a lot of "it's a clone" comments, but I don't think I played a top down version of this and you did some neat stuff in it. Overall a really enjoyable jam game

The Perfect Murder by Uruca Games 2016-12-13T02:31:00

I like the character models and shaders a lot. I think the game may be slightly buggy. One time I picked up a knife and the girl saw me, then I did a weird animation behind the guy I was suppose to kill, but it didn't complete, and then I couldn't kill him anymore. Kind of reminds me of those Nintendo Land mini games (or maybe it was Game and Wario).

DOOMTANK by djfariel 2016-12-13T01:51:00

Man this is great once I got into it. 26630 high score so far (probably pretty low, only played about 3 games). Definitely keeping this one around to play some more. Great job.

The controls I think would be smoother with mouse aiming, although that may go against what you were trying to do

DOOMTANK by djfariel 2016-12-13T02:49:00

Oh yeah, got the mouse working. Definitely going to be playing this some more.

Speed square by Josho 2016-12-14T18:36:00

43 deaths, 106 seconds. I keep commenting on games saying that I like how short they are (which is wonderful for rating games) and once again I really appreciate this being a challenging skill based game I can beat quickly. Pretty fun, great job!

Spacedoor by Ant0nin 2016-12-22T18:38:00

This is a great idea, really glad I played it. I would like to see the FPS controller be a bit smoother. Also would like to see more polish on the interactions (like LordSK was saying). Great mood, good job

[Almost] One Room by theck 2016-12-13T17:24:00

I managed to get the first combination, but I think I'm a bit too dense to get the next one. The massive file size is kind of annoying.

Mouse House by MacDocBros 2016-12-13T17:48:00

Great art and sound, camera needs work. The jump is also hard to control

Bat Cave by schizoid2k 2016-12-14T15:34:00

The audio is pretty scratchy. I like the addition of the jump, changes up that classic Space Invaders/Galactica gameplay. Sometimes playing the web version I lose control of the game due to the controls.

Orb Protector by MrJoshuaMcLean 2016-12-13T18:09:00

I LOVED the presentation (although it does get annoying having to wait through it). Made it Wave 5. Is there any point in being able to drop your weapon?

Geometry Encounters by hlavik211 2016-12-22T18:29:00

Love the menu title graphics, really good font. Think you did a great job with keeping the graphics simple. The game like you said isn't finished, so it's really hard to judge it. The lack of a restart is particularly problematic, something as simple as SceneManager.LoadScene(0) (might have the wrong function, just going off the top of my head) after a few seconds after your death would go a great ways to fixing the lack of ability to replay it without quitting the application and starting it up again.

I remember when I was 14 and making games. It took me so long to actually finish my first game, I don't think I ever completed one till I was 22 or so. But once you figure out how to wrap a game up, you start seeing how to wrap other games up. I'd suggest you finish this game up, add an ability to restart it, some simple sounds, and a score counter and you'll be done. Good luck!

Will you exit ? by tommarx69 2016-12-13T17:41:00

I've Won! Really good entry guys, especially considering your ages and the fact that you did this in Java, it's particularly impressive. Good jam game all around.

I think one time the life counter glitched out on me (said I had more life than I did). Also the hit box on the green/red deathpits is too big (you hit them when you're clearly not on them).

One Room Factory by Zgragselus 2016-12-16T15:37:00

I love this game. I think it's amazing. Exactly what I am looking for in a jam game.

White Room by MementoGames 2016-12-15T01:12:00

The right mouse button to focus you on the ball is really interesting, I don't think I've seen that before. I find switching colours difficult with 1,2,3. I think right mouse button or the mouse wheel would be a better spot.

Really great concept, and I think if I could switch guns faster I'd love it.

Survive the Barbaric Vikings by ObsessiveNotion 2016-12-14T20:46:00

Neon no Nakama by SimonHutchinson 2016-12-14T22:33:00

Yay I beat it. I liked it when the maze appeared. I think the speed of the character could be faster. I liked the simple graphics a lot. Overall, I enjoyed escorting my group of neon friends around :)

LD59 — Signal

Echo by japes 2026-04-20T10:31:41Z

Fellow "hold mouse to charge" gameplay dev! Really liked what you did here, it reminded me a bit of those invisible levels in Splatoon single player. I think it could really benefit from having the obstacles and goal emit a different sound when hit, so the player can get a sense of where they are from the echolocation (maybe that'd make things too easy, but it was something I was thinking about).

Lost Signal by williambsm 2026-04-22T00:42:47Z

After playing so many jam games in such a short period of time, it's nice to come across a grappling platformer. One thing, I'm not sure the right click is necessary, it might be better to just have the left click to do the grapple?

Alpine by RenD 2026-04-22T15:42:13Z

Definitely has that Celeste style (being a mountain platformer and the artstyle and dialogue), although totally different in story of course. I really enjoy coming across nice platformers like this during the jam. Unforunately I couldn't see the ending:

Screenshot 2026-04-22 124120.png

I think maybe because I grabbed the wire during the cutscene. Gonna try again!

EDIT: I went back and beat the game but it just gave me controls. I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a !>ziplining cutscene, because last time it said he couldn't feel his face, but I walked back to the beginning and nothing happened

Ludum Dare 59 - Cell The Signal by baknik 2026-04-21T19:23:07Z

This is great, would love to see this finished up a bit. I could see myself spending a lot of time playing it (especially if you went for more of an idle clicker route where you never lose, you always gain). It wasn't always clear to me why I couldn't get people onto my network, but I enjoyed the mechanics and graphics a lot

Signal Weave by alexhonor 2026-04-22T09:53:17Z

This is a great concept, fits the theme well and is presented well. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out how combining colours work >_< It'd be good to play a post jam version of this where you fix some of the bugs (panning doesn't work well on the embedded version, sometimes the visual connections between nodes disappears even though they aren't actually gone)

Signal Weave by alexhonor 2026-04-23T19:50:23Z

@alexhonor I can't reproduce it now! Weird, I'm not sure what happened before but it was like if I zoomed in in the bottom right it'd be offset wrong, like trying to zoom to the top left. Anyways, it's not happening now, so not sure if it was some weird embed issue when I was trying it or what, but it's panning and zooming well now

Beacon by CodeChomper 2026-04-20T12:05:50Z

At first I thought my screen was too dark for this game, then I realized you need to press the [SPACE] bar to light up (and attract enemies) the screen.

There is something so inherently fun in the short gameplay loop this has. At least one level I'd die and have memorized part of the level, and it was just so fun to re-create my steps. When the levels become longer it becomes less fun of a thing, so I'm unsure how to balance that for a longer game (I did beat all 5 levels), but I think this idea has a lot of potential. Actually feel like I learned something about gameplay/game design by playing this game. Very good!

Signal Steve by Isaac Hisey 2026-04-20T14:25:29Z

Sound the Horns by kr4ft3r 2026-04-23T12:39:16Z

SpaceRider by BlueCalx 2026-04-21T21:38:22Z

This game is wild. I also love the hippy artstyle on the fonts and things. Really cool

Mr. Signal by Ismael Rodriguez 2026-04-27T12:06:15Z

This game is SUPER cool! Took a minute to get used to the inverted controls. The final signal that I could send off in the wrong direction when holding shift but did manage to get into the sun. I really really like this gameplay and setting, it's a very fresh take on a space game (makes me think of starfox a bit and maybe they could do more with that game). I think if you put a little bit of a story in it then this game could be amazing. Really glad I played this, thanks for making it

Monolith by William Corrin 2026-04-20T10:47:04Z

This is very well done! Really nice job artistically setting up the landscape/composition and having a compelling drive forward for the player. I think this could be really nice if you tuned the combat a bit. I find the monorocks a bit overwhelming given how fast they were (actually it made later sections easier). I never died though, so maybe I was just too afarid

Alien Delivery Service by Minus 2026-04-21T18:16:35Z

Hey, this is a great effort. I didn't really understand how to use the wave signal machine, but I really enjoyed the little world you built and walking around it.

It's a shame not many people are rating this game, so I want to leave a meta comment/feedback. For Ludum Dare, you should go and rate as many games as you can. Then others will see your game more and try it out. Actually, it's really a good way to get people to try your game, since most jams people won't even be incentivized to play your game. But you also have to go play (and rate) others games, and probably a good idea to leave a comment with relevant feedback. Basically go to https://ldjam.com/games and try to rate 20-30 games before the jam is over in 17.25 days

I see you all have done LD before and got ratings on your games, so maybe what I'm saying is uncalled for and you know how the system works and possibly haven't had time to go rate games. But in case you didn't I felt I should let you know. Anyways, good job on this game!

Nowhere Station by JCoMcL 2026-04-21T12:48:16Z

GAME OVER: Earth by The1 2026-04-24T11:13:11Z

That opening screen, what a mood! Fun take on the missile command style game, really gets the theme/mood down. I thought I was getting into the flow of it, but then day 6 became a bit overwhelming. Survived 10 days in total

Aye Aye, Can't See! by Avhatar 2026-04-23T13:44:48Z

Very well done! Great mood with the artstyle and audio, and the gameplay is quite impressive

Cave Man Conversations by SirLich 2026-04-21T12:11:00Z

The fact that I can get the answers so easily by typing them out shows how well you did designing the puzzles. It's very intuitive which really shows how well you did communicating the puzzle

Escape from Cornfield by Sagamore 2026-04-20T12:40:18Z

The HTML isn't loading for me. The loading bar gets 90% through, then I see the following error in the console:

Uncaught (in promise) Invalid binary data file size! (offset=376, size=20152104, file length=16658439)

Do you have an itch.io or other link for a web build?

Escape from Cornfield by Sagamore 2026-04-21T11:35:38Z

The HTML was working again! That was really good. "If I see you around these parts again... I'll take you out for lunch". I was one square away before I got stabbed like a pig

Wave Rider by Sariiger 2026-04-21T15:15:46Z

I love this gameplay!

In Control by MelissaL 2026-04-21T11:50:40Z

This is a fun concept. I got stuck in the second level (couldn't get past the second honk sign, where the robot blocker goes to the left a bit too far for me to reach, couldn't figure out if there was another puzzle there)

Awaiting Response by DzejPi 2026-04-21T19:39:43Z

This was really cool. I did manage to escape, almost couldn't figure out the giant empty room

codevibes by gdman 2026-04-22T15:19:18Z

Pretty impressive you managed to vibe code this in 12 hours (I'm never able to get anything so complete from vibe coding). I found it difficult, it's definitely something I could get quite into if I didn't suck at it so much :D

Astral Pilgrimage of Sound by auxiliarymoose 2026-04-20T10:53:19Z

Hearing what you did with audio in this game makes me wish I focused more on audio. Strong use of the theme, feels very fresh/innovative to me. I did a space game as well with similar movement controls, I like seeing how you did things here totally differently than how I did things (I might take some inspiration for next time)

More Signal, More Control by ZMiner 2026-04-23T18:06:07Z

I like the rotating gameplay, I found that really interesing

Fading Echo 余音轨迹 by JerryWest 2026-04-24T13:10:40Z

This is a very nice little platformer. I made it to the end! I really like these kind of jam games that are both unique (the various moves), easy to play, fun, short and completable.

DO THE THING! by Fredrik Andersson 2026-04-21T17:46:25Z

This is a really interesting game, it really touches on something very human (the kind of interaction a response with the creature, even if it's as simple as hot and cold) you don't see in games too often. I'm probably going to be thinking about this game long after the Ludum Dare is finished

A game about a radio, vessels and bombs by harujam 2026-04-22T10:41:50Z

This was so intense. I was quite engaged playing this.

Trailwork by sudocoffee 2026-05-07T10:23:57Z

This is pretty inspiring, although I'm not sure how far I got along the intended path (I think I broke things and got to watch a few level transitions). The concept of this kind of "cinematic" gravity, where the level re-arranges like this, I don't think I've seen done before (or at least not in a way that had an impact on me like this game). I think there's something really interesting in this concept. I wonder if the 3D gravity towards the beacon could be removed, at least while the player is moving along the intended paths (like control the gravity while they're on the ramps, maybe like how Mario Galaxy has different shaped planet gravities?). The simple shapes and formations you made had a pretty big impact on me, like they felt very intriguing. I'm really interested in this cinematic gravity now

Finnicky Fourier Toy by nathmate 2026-04-21T17:40:34Z

Took me a while to figure out, but this is pretty well done!

Outpost by henk 2026-04-21T20:48:51Z

Firstly, I really liked the perspective, like visually it was really nice (and soft). I enjoyed the story as well, although I didn't figure out when the proper time to leave the escape pod was

Sci-Null Runner by WeGlove 2026-04-20T12:45:09Z

This is so hard :D I love the concept, really makes me work the brain. I couldn't get past the final guy after the first music/sound signal section, he doesn't have a button on him (has a back looking arrow). Any tips?

Morse Fishing by JonaGameDev 2026-04-20T10:23:06Z

I think this is a cool concept, but you should really put some instructions on this page as to what you're supposed to do. Maybe even some hints on like what you can type in. I managed to get the guy to tell me to let him know when we're ready to dive, but putting in stuff like "OK" or "DIVE" didn't seem to do anything. I'd like to try it again when it's a bit more clear what I can do

Radar Runnings by tenthousandfireants 2026-04-20T11:32:55Z

~~This game has potential, in a kind of Sim City like way. It took me a while to figure out how to add groups and drag the light (names, not graphics). It could also be clearer how to beat a level, because I'd get the pass time met but only once did I beat a level. I'd like to play more if I knew what counts as level complete, it's fun!~~

Radar Runnings by tenthousandfireants 2026-04-21T11:39:52Z

@theoratkin Gah you're right I did. I was so confused when my rating on that other page didn't show up. Sorry about that! Thanks for pointing it out

Rogue Signal by SourceCodeSorcerer 2026-04-20T10:58:18Z

Great use of the theme. One thing I kept thinking, it might be better to have the wave you're adjusting be centered as opposed to left aligned (like 0 be at the center of the screen). I also think you should give more time for the player to read what was uncovered (and don't have that time count towards the count down). I did manage to succeed (saw green text at the end), however it was quickly replaced by the red "time expired" text, so I couldn't quite read it. Just a minor bug

Bantam: Beyond the Nest by naru 2026-04-22T10:04:40Z

This is really cute. I've been thinking a lot about chickeys and hatching (hence my profile pic) so this really resonated with me. You have an artstyle that invites me to explore

Traffic Jam by MountainGoose 2026-04-20T12:08:36Z

I thought I left a comment on this earlier but not seeing it now. Not sure if that's a site problem. But I enjoyed this, felt there was a fun in there like sim city. It took a while to understand what to do. I also only passed one level because I didn't know what the level clear conditions were (I'd get below pass time but usually it'd just keep going). It's a good jam entry, there's some potential in this one

Signal, Frog by SteveOfStevesGames 2026-04-21T23:14:33Z

I like this. Squishing the frog is funny. Took me a while to figure out how to play, but once I got into the ryhthm of it I quite liked it. 211 is my best score, that guy who got over 400 is crazy.

Peace : 165 by OasisGreen 2026-05-08T12:26:43Z

Very nice art! Once I understood what I was doing I had to play till I made it to the end. The story was captivating

Deep Fall by qmdev 2026-05-04T13:31:40Z

Really like the graphical effect. This reminds me a bit of a game I played for an LD 12 years ago. I made it to "The End"

MORSPELL by arieare 2026-04-20T11:33:55Z

Game page is restricted, cannot be played on itch atm

Find the path by Sebas Martinez 2026-04-21T23:51:16Z

Doesn't look like it embedded properly

HeartW@rd by NE-Aquilon 2026-04-22T23:44:03Z

This is a very cool and unique style, really nice jam game. I got to the end

Qwadrant by glem-fumeno 2026-04-22T12:11:06Z

This is good, although I didn't understand it at first. Strategy wise should I be holding down the left mouse button all the time? Is there any point in trying to time attacks? Wondering if Vampire Survivors auto attack may be warranted, but maybe I just didn't get the tactics of timing attacks

Lost Signal: Network Warfare by Gahlammon 2026-04-21T23:58:55Z

I agree with the others, this is a really cool concept. I also struggled losing towers. The game looks great for a jam game. I think if you fleshed it out a bit and fixed some of the bugs (I had -1 towers at one point) I would play more

Trot in the Poly-verse by spooooodermon 2026-04-22T16:59:53Z

When I was a child, my dad had a black and white laptop. It had this robot game that had robot faces similar to this game (although it was on a grid, it had a similar 3D style). Scared the hell out of me. This game really reminds me of that retro style which I like a lot

I think you should probably have a permanent battery at the start of the levels so players can restart faster. Also either a coyote time or a larger downward check for jumping, because in level 2 when I try to jump off that first platform it often doesn't register.

Signimal by FrowsyFrog 2026-04-23T18:57:29Z

This was super cute. I don't know why but it took me a while to realize I could use WASD to move despite having read the controls. It's a lot like a one-dimensional Frogger/Crossy Roads

Echo by FlameSeer 2026-04-23T23:06:20Z

I didn't realize that I could use Q/E to rotate till after I hit 500 :D First run: 554. Nice game, it gives me fl(0)w (an old flash game) vibes

Dignal by Rafa Fiedo 2026-04-21T20:54:49Z

My kind of gameplay :D

I found this pretty fun. It can be a tad finnicky given how precise you need to be sometimes, maybe making it less precise the longer you're on one signal would help. I could see myself playing it more if I could get the time to not run out so quickly. Great style too

Inside a Sun by bonedaddy 2026-04-21T00:52:32Z

@william-corrin I actually just used Godot's CSG combiner node with a few cylinders set to subtract! It worked surprisingly well (a bit of lag as the beam bores through the sun, which is kind of why I have you wait so long between shots (and you only get 5 holes at a time, not sure anyone will notice unless looking, I don't even notice it))

If you're into Godot, the source is there if you want to take a look (the code is really messy mind you). InsideASun/Sun is the CSGCombiner with PlayerBeam1-5 being the beams

Inside a Sun by bonedaddy 2026-04-21T19:45:45Z

@henk There was a bug I found where if you clicked when it was near empty it'd bug out (probably from relying too heavily on tweens for logic...), I kind of made a work around to ignore it but I wouldn't be surprised if it's still there and that's what you ran into. Really sorry about that. For the prime directive I'd like to explore that a bit more, it's an interesting concept to me (survival in space requiring no contact with aliens and any detection meaning eradication, which seems logical but is so inhumane, I think there's ways to explore the idea with accepting adaptation and change).

I definitely pushed the CSG usage to the limits, it's a jam so why not. I think their main intention is for quickly prototyping things and then not changing the geometry at runtime (which I abuse :D)

Inside a Sun by bonedaddy 2026-04-22T09:37:07Z

@isaac-hisey Sorry about that, I hardcoded the sensitivity. I was a bit worried that would happen for people. Next time I'll put more effort in to add a sensitivity option (or if anyone has suggestions on how to automatically adjust it that might be better)

Inside a Sun by bonedaddy 2026-05-06T19:20:58Z

@sudocoffee Thank a ton for that comment! Really means a lot (and I feel the same way about the jam games I played during this LDJam, my favourite games were experimental and unpolished and this jam kind of reignited my passion for indie games). There is in fact no way to escape the implosion in the game, although if people interpret that they did who am I to deny that :D
