A few beeps and boops for sound effects, a separate sprite for dead enemies and a restart button would've gone a long way, but the core game itself plays very nicely. I like the look as well, very crisp graphics
Very nice looking game - a fun, challenging (if you're a wheel, that is) experience. A bit frustrating at times, but generally a good experience. Nice music too, an all-around very polished game.
Incredibly pretty, really like the aesthetic - and the round window gives it a really special look. I don't mind that there isn't that much "going on", it would probably just detract from the experience. Sounds also aren't that bad, I like the minimalist theme, fits the visuals.
Incredibly cathartic carnagefest, very enjoyable. Simple, yet effective in terms of sounds and spritework, liberal use of screenshake makes this game.
Chaos!
Very nice game! Terrific gameplay - it took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed it enough to play the entire thing and want more. The music, though simple, fit the games relaxing atmosphere very well. Graphics were a bit simple, but it did nothing to detract from an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Nice graphics, sounds and gameplay - it was a very polished experience! I couldn't get past the second level myself, but maybe that's just because I'm not too great at these kinda games. Good work!
Very polished experience! Great music and smooth gameplay. The puzzles themselves often lent themselves to guesswork for me, but then again I've never been good at these kinds of games. A few text bits as to the objective of the game might've made the introduction a bit smoother, but it holds up completely without.
Rather floaty controls, makes platforming quite difficult. Could've done with some simple animations. The music is neat, though, and the minimalistic level graphics have a certain austerity to them.
Really liking the minimalist aesthetic. The game itself was a bit simple, but nevertheless enjoyable enough to keep me to the end of it. Personally I would've enjoyed a simple story along with it, but that's just me.
Cool game! Very neat basic idea. Could've gone for a step-by-step tutorial or something like that - I felt a little uncertain as to what I should be doing. Some sound effects for stuff other than shooting would've gone a long way too, but now I am nitpicking - besides that, there is a very nice core game, would love to see it elaborated more
@Khud Of course, I'll put it up asap. I thought source code was only obligatory for the compo, but I don't mind sharing it - though its a mess, I gotta warn you :)
@Khud0 Source should be up now :)
And thanks for the feedback, everyone! I am painfully aware that it is a bit rough around the edges, especially as the difficulty goes - the deadline crept up on me while programming the upgrades. It would be lovely to iron out the kinks and make the gameplay a bit more substantial.
Fun, simple gameplay that is very well excecuted. Presentation is a bit simple - I personally think it could've improved the game experience quite a bit to have a bit of context to the jumbing (ie. "you're a little dude collecting coins" or whatnot) but I understand why the focus is on other things, tight gameplay with simple graphics is often better than the other way around :)
Very cool take on the sidescrolling shmup genre, the cooling element and short levels gives it a kind of puzzle-like feel. It is a very fun mechanic, though it took me a while getting used to, being a trigger-happy guy :) Graphics and sound are both very polished.
Nice looks, and very enjoyable variation on the theme. A bit on the difficult side for me, I wasn't able to make it very far. Enemy corpses or some kind of persistance would go a long way for the game feel, I think. Enemies on the fast side.
Does it end rather abruptly in the room after crushing the tomatoes or am I off my bonkers? At any rate, what little there is plays alright, simple but working.
Very fun, good looking and tight controls. Simple, but simple and good beats complicated and sloppy :) I would have liked longer breaks to heal up and buy guns, but that's my subjective taste, I suppose. Other than that, solid product
Really nice looking game, loved the atmosphere and feel of it. Unfortunately, the controls were quite floaty and unresponsive, which together with the rather brisk pace of the death-wall made it very difficult to get into. Maybe it's my computer or maybe I'm just not MLG enough, but its a darn shame because everything seems absolutely top notch.
Really fun, polished experience. Great gameplay, looks good and feels good. Only complaint is the bad quality of the sound recordings. Other than that, a+ product!
Difficult and fun, just as I like it! Crisp looks and nice sound, only complaint would be that it'd be good to get back into the action a bit quicker after dying, but that's really a minor issue. Good game!
Incredible entry! Very cool way to weave gameplay and story together, assuming that you're in the shoes of a zombie meat robot trying to masquerade as human. Cool idea and top notch excecution. Only complaint is that the progress(/distance between choices) is a little bit too slow to encourage several replays.
Fun mechanics, the bosses scale well in difficulty and the entire thing is a nice take on the whole bullethell thing. Graphics are sufficient and sound is, while not bad, quite something of its own.
Very fun game, challenging but enjoyable. Graphics are neat and work well with the gameplay. Terrific entry!
very neat little game, looked and played good, nice mechanic. Simple, but enjoyable.
I liked the look of it, and the basic idea seemed fun, if a little simple - the gameplay was too quick for me to enjoy, though. I would've prefered longer times and more complex decisions, I think, but lets chalk that up to personal taste. Solid effort.
Nice little arty piece. Gameplay bordering on walking simulator-territory, but I do prefer a game thats heavy on story and light on puzzles rather than the other way around. The aesthetics are really great and make the game worthwile in their own right.
Nice looking and very heavy atmosphere, I like that. Gameplay was a bit... absent. I feel its something that could be the basis of a great game, with a few more mechanics/more content.
Very fun main mechanic with the sword - a fullscreen mode would be nice, though, I found it very easy to move the mouse out of the playing area by mistake. Also, I accidentally managed to move Pepe out of the map, making it impossible for the zombies to hit him. Mission accomplished, I guess.
These things aside, though, it is a very fun little game, nice entry! Will Pepe turn out to be the villain all along?
Great little piece, found myself lingering in it longer than most LD games. Very nice graphics and feel, and even though it was mighty repetitive, it had a nice, engaging field to it. I would love to see this turned into a more realized game with more complex crafting.
Very fun take on the (admittedly, as of yet, quite narrow) 'Papers Please'-genre - it was simple, but I found myself having a good time with it. Controls were a bit floaty, but the game managed to shine through that.
Gorgeous spritework, and I love the lighting/whatnot effect on the floor, very nice looking. Please finish the game, I would love to try it out! The walking animation is the only slightly stilted thing in a very pretty game/tech demo/whatnot.
Fun, good looking and very difficult! Music gets a little hard on the ears after a while, but a solid game nonetheless
As have been said, the controls and music are a bit off, but I feel like there is the seed of a great game in there, so please keep refining it! Some kind of interaction with the world besides the zombies (building barricades, stuff like that) would be cool.
As for music, try to make sure that the notes are in the same scale, that makes it far more listenable - in Reaper (technically free) you can toggle scales on the midi sheets, so maybe check that out. sfxr is a lifesaver for sound effects.
Simple, basic, but plays solidly and looks sufficient. I'm not much of a tower defence guy myself so I cant really speak on the gameplay, but I did enjoy having physical traps rather towers/turrets that shoot.
