The idea has potential maybe you could add doors and a better AI :)
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → Users → Mouch

The idea has potential maybe you could add doors and a better AI :)
I like the concept but the controls are a little bit odd.
Also it is really hard to dodge the obstacles because they are often in two or three lanes at the same time!
Cool game. Great art style.
Needing to press one arrow key repeatedly instead of holding it down is quite annoying though, especially if the player needs to get back after dying. I think the time constraint is too restrictive. I would have preferred to take my time to think how to dispose of all enemies instead of rushing through.
Great in every Aspect. I personally would rather not have a respawning helmet, so that the player needs to get it, before throwing it again.
Innovative idea, nice graphics!
But unfortunately, I could only hear sounds (no music). I was using Firefox on Linux Mint.
Really funny idea to make a game out of a pdf, but tt worked out in the end.
Better AI and levels with puzzles and the game would be awesome!
Strange game. It took me 5 min to figure out how to control unicorns, because the game ends way too fast. A life counter would have been nice. Other than that, everything's fine.
Very nice art. I can't choose the fly away option at the man, though.
I really like the modern graphics...
Nice mate!
Funky Game!
I love it
Looks amazing.... Fitting abscure music and I think I spended far too long time in this game than I should have:D
Good Job
Great game overall. Only little innovation. Instructions would be nice.
The supervisor will haunt me in my dreams!
I don't know if the supervisor comes again or is something else happens, because the game crashed.
Great game!
But really hard on a keyboard layout other than qwerty.
Whoa.... that was good!
I love it!
Keep it up mates!
The game is a rather standard platformer, but with a great graphic style. The greatest throwback is the structure of the level, which makes you fall back to an earlier position on the stage if you miss a jump.
Still have sticky hands!
10/10
Keep it up mate!
Cool game mechanic. Keyboard controls are odd though. It would be way easier, if slash and grab/throw would be the same key (you can't hold the orb and slash at the same time anyway). For me the jump sound was mildly annoying. (Maybe turn it's volume down?)
Couldn't figure out how to play this game....
:(
Does the slingshot make any difference to the single hand weapon? What are those money ghost that are super tough? The game mechanic is a nice idea, but I think endless survival games lack diversity.
Thanks for the compliment XtremePrime :)
But the game IS a local coop game, and not a singleplayer game :D
@Tangible_Games @lanza sry we couldn't test the os x version because we dont have a mac to test it on :(
But we will soon upload a webplayer version :)
Great story with fitting music. But the gameplay is not much fun (May not be the main focus, so ok);)
Awesome Story! Awesome Music! Awesome Graphics! Awesome Puzzles! AWESOME GAME! .... but a bit too easy :D
Well done mate!
I love the graphics, especially the intro. I like the console idea too, but i think gameplay can be improved, but absolutely acceptable for LD.
SPAMMING "punch -s" ftw !!!
Somehow, better gameplay needs to be implemented. Running away is too easy. It is also very strange to run in water for the most time, only seeing the peoples shoulders and head.
I'd really like to hear some sounds, especially from the filthy men.
I like the models and animations of the characters and the title screen. Fitting music.
This game is too easy, or at least up to the point I've played, it freezed at some point. I don't really see the point in locking a target, maybe aiming with the mouse would have made an improvement.
I LOVE the idea of crushing people with pianos. Nice graphics and hard to play(positive :D).
According to the others comments, there must be some bugs in the linux version. The words are coming way to fast, impossible to dodge. If I want to jump, the player is jerking around in the air.
A little short but quite entertaining game. Only 3 stars in innovation and theme, because spike balls have already been used in video-games and medieval reality.
Nice game! I like the graphics very much. But it definitely needs some balancing.
And I don't think the farmer knows how to protect his sheeps correctly:D
Oh man, this is the best game I've played yet.
- The gameplay is so funny
- It has sooo nice pixel art and graphical effects.
- The music, characters and environment build a perfect cowboy, wild-west feeling
- The game fits perfectly to the theme
5/5 Awesomeness!!! Do more games! :DDD
Nice Artwork and a good idea but the movement is buggy on the linux version.
Great game. The only thing i can complain about are the characters that don't look like anything.
A bit unpolished.... but a crazy and funny idea! :)
Keep it up mate!
Looks absolutely awesome... feels very polished but is a little bit frustrating, should have some checkpoints.
Noice Mate!
Nice and crazy Idea! Nice graphics!
I love Pinball... but this is a bit hard to controll.
Good job mate!
Nice Graphics. Cool mechanics. But a bit confusing...
Classic bullet hell, shoot'em up. It kinda needs a focus mode, where by pressing a key, the spaceship slows down to maneuver between the bullets. I don't think the wrecking ball alone is enough to fit the unconventional weapon theme, because it isn't needed to finish the game.
Great game overall.
The gameplay is a bit confusing maybe a tutorial would help!
But the graphics are nice (however animations are missing).
Great concept and I like the graphics but the audio is really buggy on my system (linux , Firefox).
Love the music, small puzzle or trick levels are a nice addition to the formula.
I like the graphics and ui and it feels polished and finished but I would replace the song you have used (luckily there is a mute option).
The game needs much more complexity, more choices to make, therefore it is not challenging.
I have one more question, what about autumn? :)
Great idea. Also I'm dizzy now @.@
The game looks pretty good. I think the game is not hard enough though, so maybe add a time limit/moving obstacles and faster enemies.
I love it! But the ceiling is buggy in the web version.
My Highscore: 120
Great first entry and very fitting music!!
I wish it would be more transparent how the score is calculated, because you say in the description that the score is made out of health, collected coins and remaining time. But this does not tell what's the best strategy, should I run as fast as I can to the door to have more time left at the end or should I collect as many coins as I can before time runs out. I think that the second one gets you the highest final score.
Also, maybe the position of the exit should also change, to prevent the player from farming coins right next to the exit and implement some kind of risk-reward mechanic.
Yep, jumping. Other than that, great. I would have gone for "pushback" lasers like in Portal 2 instead.
BOING!!!
I don't think deadly lasers hurt less when you don't see them, but that's probably just me.
The concept is really interesting and well executed.
Simply amazing. How does one make such a game in only 48 hours?
Oh no, the corgi died. Fantastic music and graphics.
I also had the idea to make a game with a chat room, but I did not know what to do, but you guys had a really awesome idea and I think it really has potential. I wonder if there is already a similar game like this. Also, you have very nice music.
With many users the game becomes very chaotic, which is not bad, but the chat always autoscrolls, which makes it very difficult to click on the download links. In addition to that if your desktop is full with files then new files are placed outside the desktop and moves everything up, which can cause the chat window (and other windows) to move outside the screen unable to move them back or close them.
Would like to see this as a full game!
Wow, I really liked this entry, we also thought making a game with a chat room would be very fitting to the theme, but we didn't know what to do with this approach.
I guess you don't really have the possibility to make decisions in the game, which is a point that should be part of the game, but two times I thought I had. I suggested the name "AnusLicker" and it was very fun to see the game changing the name to "analFan" XD and when the second person was killed, I wrote "Saw" into the chat and she was killed with a bone saw. Coincidence? I don't know, I guess I have to play it a second time.
I really enjoyed it, great use of the theme!
I think it would be very interesting and maybe fun (for you), it the game would send the entire chat history to you after each playthrough, so you can see what the players wrote.
I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, I cleaned Room 753, ... then I ran out of towels, wet floor signs and do not disturb signs.
I don't really know what to say, it was a strange experience and therefore liked it. The glitch effect was nice and I just couldn't get enough of the squeaking.
I'm sorry, I could not get it to work on Ubuntu, I had to install the libSDL2-image library first to be able to execute the game, but it does not render anything.
For a person "not being good at puzzle design" this is a really awesome entry. You should have more confidence in your skills. But please make the cat sound less annoying X.X.
At first I thought that you have to dodge them. Without that the game is a lot easier. I died at wave 16.
I don't think the hunger/thirst bar adds anything to the game. I would have loved the story you had in mind for sure though.
@dlweatherhead
Ok, we did not know about that game, but since you brought it up, I took a glance at it. I must say that even though the games look alike by basic mechanics (hex-grid-based, turn-based), in the end they achieve totally different end results.
Let me explain:
Hoplite on the one hand is a strategy game in that you have a lot of options and have to think in advance for long time spans (getting different upgrades to health or abilities) and errors in judgement will lead to some punishment, but not completely stop you.
Dungeon Protector on the other hand has few clear defined solutions to each level (only 1 in level 6), not finding one of the solutions will result in stopping the progress completely, making it a clear candidate for the puzzle game genre.
I apologise if this sounded rude.
Having multiple planets to micro manage can be so confusing. Really good work though.
Oh yeah I too thought about making such a game.
Didn't he mean by "not 100% accurate" that when you look at a wall and turn - for example - the left block of that wall to the bottom, that the whole left wall isn't turning with it like it would in a rubik's cube.
Great to see a terminal game (I made one too for ld35 posted with the user account "PixelRetro", but usability suffered because I didn't have time to look into curses/ncurses)!
The different weapons and planning where to go makes it a strategic game, which is fun to play. I'm sure this has potential and can be extended very well.
While the animations look great, they really slow the game down and makes it tedious to play.
It's interesting to see, that you have used a square for range calculation, but I think there is no problem with that.
This game has a really repressing atmosphere. Well done!
Game-play-wise this game has a few missteps (stealth section with too little sight, ...) and is too easy in my opinion.
Other than that, this game is on point. I loved the graphics, laughed at (most of - you can't get them all - ) the puns and the music was blending in perfectly.
Cute little top-down shooter!
Sound and graphics are consistent and fitting, but the music is a bit irritating because it feels too arrhythmic.
Also, I lost most lives, because enemies spawned too close to me. There should be some sign where they are going to spawn, or simply spawn with an appropriate distance to the player.
If possible make it so that the music doesn't restart when you start a new round.
Really good game. Would be perfect for mobile platforms.
So beautiful! However the fast rotation made me sea sick (maybe increase the radius of the world).
Why are enemies not spawning faster over time?
Nice puzzles, I wish there would have been more. And the music is really good too.
But the jumping mechanics are uncomfortable, because you lose your current horizontal velocity when jumping.
Nice entry!
That mother-fucking color machine. Also this is a really good game for that platform, you should continue working on it.
Really good game, especially for a compo. The audio is almost perfect (steps little too fast & no sound when interacting with objects - still 5 stars -). I would have preferred a true stealth game instead, as the fights are a little clunky.
Can't stop playing!
I don't think this is the right place to promote your games not made in this game jam!
I think you should make destroying the towers harder. Really good first compo.
It's great to see games made for old consoles at Ludum Dare! I'd like to try that some day too.
But the platform mechanics have room for improvement, jumping just feels strange. Also the third level was a bit frustrating, because in order to beat it you have to jump at the right time, shortly before running into the pits.
Whereas the last level is much more fun and rewarding. (I guess the boss is a reference to birdo from super mario bros 2/Super Mario USA ;))
Cute graphics, sound would have been nice, but I know how short Ludum Dare can be (especially if you make the challenge harder by making a NES game :))
Lost my torchlight every time, fuck my Waifu I'm getting out of here!
