This game is amazing.
couldn't figure out how to jump up the second tier of platforms in the alien cube, but I like the idea of the weapon upgrades.
I love the graphics. Very impressive!
That's a challenging game! I would have appreciated some UI telling me how many pearls or starfish I had.
Hilarious moles! Great song, does a lot to raise awareness.
Nicely complex.
That was intense.
A good concept! Definitely ripe for further development.
I thought the dialog was hilarious.
I love the idea and would definitely play an expanded version.
Thanks for the cats!
Great entry! Looking forward to the full version.
I love the music! for some reason my brain wanted left to be right and vis-a-versa.
Looking forward to the secret. The panning is slightly disorienting but the core gameplay is smooth.
Good music!
Best vole animation I've ever seen. I would play more levels of this in a heartbeat.
Ha, this is great! The controls feel tight, and diving towards your enemies is just a fun mechanic. Nice job!
That's one talented shark. Nicely done.
Love the use of stereo. Great job!
I like the simple controls. Combined with a nice sense of speed make a great experience.
Really good stuff! Amazing polish for the allotted time.
Not so easy! I especially like the penguin sound.
Is there any way to close the help menu?
Love the music.
Incredible art!, Very challenging because the controls feel a little floaty.
Didn't find any health, but made it to the end. Nice concept.
Great graphics and extremely challenging. Well done!
Very atmospheric.
Nice twist on an old classic! I like the burrow effect.
It didn't seem like any of my shots had an effect on the octopus but the fish looks cool!
Tough to tell when you're about to lose or which leaks are a priority to fix. That said, I like the concept and the graphics are pretty good!
Tough to control which direction you're attacking. would be nice to be able to spin in place. Smooth graphics though!
@pandavigoureux, sorry about that! We'll definitely include alternate control schemes in all our future games.
I won! Short and sweet, a great effort for 5 hours!
Talk about high stakes! Nice atmosphere.
Apparently I don't type very fast. Interesting idea.
Very atmospheric.
Nice graphics! More feedback about how you died would be good.
Really nice use of theme and streamlined controls. Great job!
Good effort, I like the upgrades.
Unique idea, but I was never really sure if I was doing well or not. Didn't seem like there was any way to lose, so I just kind of lost interest after a while. I like the Player vs. AI resource management concept -- I hope you get a chance to build it sometime :)
Great idea, and adorable graphics!
Great game! That big guy unit is a scam tho.
nice shooting action!
Cyberspace is a dangerous place! The guards voices were extremely difficult to understand but the art and concept are awesome!
Too bad you didn't hit your goal, but you should keep developing it. The models and textures are interesting.
This is my favorite so far. Fantastic graphics, tight mechanics, and a few surprising twists in the level design. Solid job!
Creepy! I liked the audio a lot and the hand drawn art was a great idea.
The art is absolutely stunning. Well done!
Awesome level design, surprisingly lengthy, and I love the fact that you restart immediately when you die.
Good humor and nice graphics!
Interesting gameplay.
Love the music. Also love skating around with a jetpack shooting the crap out of things with unlimited ammo. Great work!
The jumping is a bit sketchy but the music is solid!
I love this art style so much! The bullet hose is really fun. I died on the third wave (maybe a bit more of a ramp would be good?) but I really enjoyed playing. Very impressive for 48 hours.
Interesting concept. Are you going to keep developing it?
Well done!
I had a tough time making this game do anything, but I really love the concept of the story book coming to life. You should continue development!
Hold
Off
Creating
Matter,
Alright?
I'd like to know more about what the intention was here. It seemed interesting and I stuck with it until the organism stage until I just lost the will. Great voice work though, there was clearly effort and thought put into the whole concept, I wish that was a little more accessible.
Huge fan of the music, especially the way it screeches to a halt when you mess up. Bravo!
Beautiful artwork, but I agree with most of the other commenters that the difficulty is too much. It might just be that your hitboxes are too big?
Cool mechanic and great music. Extremely challenging though!
Heh, I really screwed myself up when I moved the camera - It was hard to keep track of which keys mapped to which directions! Neat game though :)
I think there might be a bug. The first time I played I made it to 7 points before the game showed no more matches. The top row showed only one type of symbol and the bottom row showed only another type of symbol, even though I waited for a good minute. After refreshing the page I was able to progress.
Amazing stuff for 72 hours. Took me way too long to figure out how to switch weapons. The resource distribution could have been a little more even, I wasn't able to upgrade anything for way too long a time. But I like this game! you should continue development.
Wow, really nicely paced. the screen gets pretty crazy full in the late game which makes it tough to tell what's going on, but I guess that's probably the point. I enjoyed it!
I like the concept a lot. I made a mess of that song.
Very nice music, a very relaxing experience.
That music got a bit repetitive after a while but I like where you are going with the game. Some of the imagery was not too obvious but it all made sense in the end. Are you going to continue developing this?
Great mechanic and the art is awesome. Those fireballs feel powerful.
Those double blades are really rough. Good effort for a first compo!
Wow, great atmosphere! I love how you integrated the theme.
Simple, clean and fun. Awesome work!
It's a good idea, keep developing it!
Nice music! I was confused at first thinking the icon you used for the right arrow key was the ">" key. Other than that it was pretty fun!
Good character art. It took me a while to figure out why I was failing at first, those birds are pretty stealthy. But I triumphed in the end. Nice little story!
Interesting idea and plenty challenging.
Those worlds are totally connecting! I like it!
Holy crap that's hard! The portals close a little too quick for me but I really like the graphics and sound. Well done!
I don't have GameMaker installed, is there any way to get a standalone version?
This is truly great! Fantastic graphics, intuitive controls and a pace that gets challenging without getting frustrating too quickly. I just wish there were some way to place the block you want immediately, instead of having to cycle through them all.
Great graphics and music. That's a lot of clicking!
Well, I spent about 45 minutes on that last level. Damn your eyes!
The controls are really sensitive! In order to be able to play at all I had to choose option 4 at the beginning to set my own speed. Anything other than 1 was unplayable. Also, consider giving the player more headroom on the first level. I found that unless I'm really fast the click of the play button will register in the game and I will crash immediately into the ceiling. With a little work this could be a pretty fun game!
Took me a bit to figure out what was happening but once I did I really enjoyed myself.
That's really fun! You should think about continuing development.
I like the concept!
Really interesting concept.
I'm not so good at timing those kicks but I really like the concept.
Really cool way to teach your daughter about programming. I hope she had fun :)
Great concept. The controls were a bit weird -- I couldn't get "z" to do anything even when it was called out in the dialogue, and ctrl+up on OS X launches Mission Control. Made the fight with the big blob pretty awkward :P
Really fun! Some of the audio cues seem to fire without a related event (the new town sound happened a lot when there was no new town) but I still found the game to be very enjoyable.
Slow to maneuver and slow to find enemies but I really like the idea and the atmosphere. Though I must say that white page background made the game really difficult to see! Once I manually adjusted the page color from white to black the game became a easier to play.
I love tinker toys! Those hit boxes on those tinker toy pieces seem a little wonky though.
Awesome! Great difficulty scaling -- just enough time to get all the mechanics down before it really started going nuts on me :)
Challenging!
Good effort! I only ended up using the z gun, didn't find much use for the x gun.
Great effort! I love the idea of the puzzles but I don't have the reflexes to pull them off.
Wow, very cool! The music is great and I love the shooting animation. Nice job!
Nice graphics and solid gameplay.
That was insanely tough. Well executed though!
I guess the goal is just to stay alive for as long as possible. Contrary to the name, I found that getting the planets between me and the enemy was actually the best defensive strategy. So much for heroics ;)
Interesting. I like the idea but it would be nice to be able to zoom-in and out and/or rotate the camera. Sometimes those asteroids come in at angles that give you no time to react. Also, moving the camera to find other planets to explore means leaving all your other planets completely defenseless, and since the asteroids spawn so frequently that meant I just didn't explore those other planets. You should keep developing this, it's pretty impressive for 48 hours.
Great level design, but there wasn't enough challenge to keep it interesting for more than a few stages. Even just adding a timer would go a long way.
Fun game! I had an easier time getting packages to their destination when I just ignored the enemies and focused on getting there faster. A nice departure from the usual shmup :)
Most amazing noodle I've ever been. I won!
Love the music and the graphics are amazing. The only thing I would have liked is some kind of score at the end and maybe a ramp in difficulty, but other than that this game is amazing.
Best audio of any game I've played so far. The game is rudimentary but challenging. Well done!
Really impressive stage layout! I got stuck a couple of times, but always managed to find a way out. Cool game :)
Not so interactive but hilarious! Great work!
Really pretty graphics. I have to admit I kept the "shift" key held down the whole time, just to keep myself entertained :P
Super-fun game! As soon as I saw the lava I just started furiously tapping the spacebar hoping to outrun it. Took a couple of tries, but I made it!
Quite a challenge!
I think this game is really good, it would be fun to see multiplayer. Do you have plans to keep developing it?
Great work with a great message.
Ads destroyed my attempts to play in Chrome. Had to switch to IE. Played pretty smooth after that though.
Nice! It's challenging, but not unfair. Moving for the first time surprised the hell out of me ;)
Nice mechanics! I had some trouble with the planet phase feeling a bit too floaty and hard to control but still managed to beat the stage.
I like it and would like to see this developed further.
Poignant.
An interesting choice for entry in a game competition. Good job on creating something.
Wow, love the different powerups. Brilliant!
I like the graphics, but I can't seem to do anything? Are you meant to be able to move boxes between areas somehow? I think I managed to get a letter into the letter box but it exploded.
I love everything about this game! The poetry was a really fantastic touch. Bravo!
Looks fabulous, extremely tough to play. Excellent work!
Great game! The core mechanic was simple enough that I was able to figure it out right away, and I had a ton of fun figuring out the best strategies for linking up with different people.
Awesome looking game!
Intro was hilarious and the gameplay was challenging. Well done!
Looks gorgeous, well done!
Absolutely stunning. Well done.
Love the sound and graphics!
As others have mentioned the font is a little tough to read but I like where you were going with the gameplay.
Very atmospheric. I love the slightly bendy theme tune. Please continue developing this!
Great entry! Unique mechanics that are still pretty easy to pick up. I wish there were more levels!
The pulley system adds a lot to the gameplay, and the music is great!
I think Larry said it best when he said, "WHAT THE ****!?" I like the sound and being able to fly. Great effort!
I love the art style. I'd love to see under the hood a little bit more, but I really like what you've done here.
Wow, awesome game. Very unique and very polished. I wish I was good enough to beat that second guy!
A bit depressing, but well executed!
Extremely awesome. Great visual effects. Loved the dialog. 5 stars. Would play again.
Great atmosphere, story-telling and stage layout. I really appreciated the pathway and arrows guiding you through the first area -- they didn't seem out of place or in your face, just a gentle nudge in the right direction. Good stuff!
Great work for 48 hours, I really like the story and atmosphere.
I wish there were either a way to skip the intro, or a way to restart when you die. I couldn't seem to damage any of the evil badguys :(
Wow, really impressive! My only feedback is that I can't play very effectively with a track pad, maybe adding keyboard controls would be helpful. Other than that, this is a great entry!
Singing those songs must have been a blast. That was hilarious!
Very moody, and very cool!
Nice idea!
The art and effects are good, there's a lot of good stuff going on here. What tools did you use for this?
Looks great and plays nicely. I love me a good shmup, and this is pretty impressive for a mere 72 hours!
Really fun and it looks great!
DIfficulty ramps up pretty quickly, it would be nice to have a few more upgrades, but it's enjoyable for what it is. Well done.
Nicely done! I agree with others that the mechanic for finding materials could have been more interactive, but it's a neat little puzzle game and you've got some great artwork in there.
The web versions controls are a little mushy, but I love the theme and the level design is good. Great job!
Very nice graphics, and great job keeping the concept simple while meeting both themes!
I like the game but hitting both buttons can be a little tough to do without flipping around. Excellent try though!
Wow, great work guys. I guess the pigeon butts got you flagged, but the game looks and plays great!
Nice start to something, Are you going to continue to develop it?
Nice! The controls are pretty loose, but it was fun to play
Interesting concept, the implementation is a little confusing, but I like the art.
I like the idea but it can be tough to judge relative sizes of the other fish. Good execution of the theme though!
Nice job! I really like the bullets = health concept, and there's no need for a health bar when your character's representation makes it so clear.
Neat concept!
Creepy, but I loved the mechanic. No win condition, but I guess nobody really wins when it comes to pulling teeth
I'm no good at it but it's really good for 5 hours!
Clever writing. I ended up drinking too much, messing things up for everyone, and leaving feeling pretty damn proud of myself :P
I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy reading that as much as I did, but you did a great job!
I'll admit that I had some trouble with the movement. I think I expected the ship to center itself on my mouse pointer, but instead it anchors its top side to my pointer when my pointer is above it, and its bottom side to my pointer when my pointer is below it. That threw me way off to begin with, but once I figured out what was going on it was all good. The simple graphics are stylish, and the music is nice and zen. Good stuff!
Really creative idea, and it mostly felt very smooth. I got used to the isometric controls found a rhythm quickly.
Can't say I ever saw the point of refusing someone -- the travelers were pretty unlikely to run into each other anyway. Maybe I just didn't play long enough to get a heavy flow of traffic going.
The purchase menu was the only thing that felt unfinished. Probably could have left it out and been perfectly fine. Nice job, and kudos on making it through the jam!
Neat game, and definitely gets full marks for mood. By the end I was kinda wishing I could just set everything on fire with the lighter :P
Easy to learn and play, and the pace that the challenge ramps up at is perfect. Nice job!
Love the artwork, and I'm amazed by how much you managed to fit in there. Awesome!
Fantastic artwork, lots of interesting puzzles, and a wonderfully creative theme. This is great, and your team should be proud :)
@drludos -- You're right about the shooting sound. I've gone ahead and disabled it for the time-being. Thanks!
I agree with @bplane2 about using the mouse to shoot -- it would make for a much better gameplay experience. That said, Dragons don't have turrets, so... :P
I liked the special abilities. Some were hard to use (the rings of fire) but I found myself relying on the speed and health boosts a lot. Cool game, needs a bit of polish, but pretty great for a weekend effort!
Really fun for such a simple concept -- I could probably sit here mindlessly clicking for hours :P
Incredible graphics, especially the cutscenes. I can't believe how much you managed to get done in a weekend -- feels really polished!
Awesome! Great pacing, and a really unique mechanic. Like @Flaterectomy, I learned to hit my opponents in the back of the head, and spent most of the time dodging and looking for opportunities to strike.
I'll admit, the first time my flashlight ran out of batteries I thought I'd encountered a bug. I figured it out quickly though, and learned to play blind as much as possible. Great concept, and really well executed!
I played the web version, so this might be specific to just that version, but I found that if I held an arrow key down to hop in that direction, I would continue hopping in that direction for another square or two after releasing the key. Really threw me off at first, but was easy enough to deal with once I figured out what was going on.
Nice graphics, and neat idea. Super-hard, but I guess that just means I need to GET GUD!
I'll be honest, it seems like the game mechanics are incomplete. I couldn't figure out how to control the direction of the attack, and waves seemed to clear well before I'd killed all of the enemies (not sure if I met some other condition).
I love the idea of purchasing attack power and HP with the same resource you use to "feed the room." Reminds me of Dark Souls, making you choose between levels and items. Cool concept, and congrats on getting through the jam!
Cute idea, and congrats on finishing! I'm afraid I had a really hard time with the floaty movement though.
