LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Glyph Valley by recursor 2015-04-21T21:56:00

Very nice world to explore, liked the rocks and mountains rendering.

Varying the voice was a nice touch as over already commented.

I had some difficulties to reach the ending, which was satisfying in a sense. But sadly, I opened the *spoiler* chest from the wrong side and did not see its content! Was there any?

Thanks, nice experience anyway.

Asterpoids by NMcCoy 2015-04-23T21:10:00

Sadly, that game is too hard for me.

That being said... I love the graphics, star field, very nice particle systems! The ship is very pleasing to control, actually it was so fun I spent most of my time fooling and boosting around.

Having a small ship is a nice touch, it gives a nice feeling of "deep space" when playing in full screen.

Having "soft borders" instead of invisible walls made sense (can't get too far of the warp gate) and improved immersion.

Nice back story too!

Lost Fame by joe40001 2015-04-28T20:08:00

Gosh, what a strange game! I could not gather the patience to collect all the orbs, but the mood is great. Loved the music, and the "travel" feeling when using the "weapon" is fantastic. Loved your "playmobil" little NPC too!

Magnets, How Do They Work? by Lizzip 2015-04-24T19:51:00

Kinda hard, definitely funny. Nice music, I like the voxel-based models too!

Robo Limb by ThreeUp 2015-04-22T21:23:00

The walking cycle was very nice, is this a standard Unity asset? I liked the quality of the animation, and the global look/shading of robots. The games seemed fun, but the camera was painful (too slow in tracking player movements). No sounds? Some walking sounds and shooting noises would have conveyed some urgency, which was a little bit laking. Oh, I loved that there were bots/teams. Felt like unreal tournament :)

Matter of the void by Dynad 2015-04-23T21:16:00

I propably did not understand the rules, but I liked the visual style and animation. Was there sound? I felt like there was some faint background music?

Crowd Control by CriticalMammal 2015-04-25T12:44:00

Well, it's a very sad game... I like your visual design, the audio too.

Echoes of the Forest by Midnight Creators 2015-04-25T12:30:00

Very nice art and music, but the movements are difficult to control. Great atmosphere.

After Glow by AmyDee 2015-04-25T16:13:00

Great blade-runner-esque city design, love your graphics and lighting. Music adds to the atmosphere.

Utensil Attack by TheBurningHat 2015-04-24T20:01:00

Nice to see a Java game! I felt like basic enemies should kill faster, that would have felt more empowering. I like how the battlefield gets slowly more cluttered with weapons and power ups.

Fathom by Joe Williamson 2015-04-28T20:23:00

OK, loved the music and sounds. Controls felt a little bit "low", especially the double jump. The upgrade mechanism was a blast; loved also the feeling of power when you "get" how to use the power and take down multiple turrets at once. I took the time to finish it.

Swing Slash Slice by Jakub Koziol 2015-04-21T21:58:00

OK, rather fun to play. Was there any sound? I like the minimalistic/geometric look.

GAMUBòRU GUMBALL!! by Robber 2015-04-21T21:27:00

OK, very funny! Liked the rendering too. Would have loved to have a goal.

I had the impression that I could not steer and accelerate at the same time?

Serial Mother by Agram 2015-04-21T21:15:00

Nice rendering of the stress a baby can put on you :-)

I think I've won by putting the bay in the wardrobe? Is this possible?

Hug Arena by Benjamin 2015-04-23T20:53:00

The LD32 game I've spent the most time playing so far!

Love the perks which help in developing a strategy, the cancel mechanic to move enemies, the visual SFX, the end of level animation!

The "power of love" take on the theme is great too.

Badass Inc by deepnight 2015-04-21T20:57:00

Sébastien, this game is great! The music is nice, I love the general atmosphere/look. Very nice particles and "glow" touches. Liked the non-politically correct cigarette and bowel humor too.

Being able to do flashback-like gunfights brought back good memories!

The story is enticing and definitely made me want to get to the end. I had a hell of a time finding the fuses, though.

Angler Cell by PlasterPhantom 2015-04-22T21:13:00

The graphics, animation, and general visual mmod (shaders, choice of colors...) are fantastic. But being propulsed in the game without any introduction/menu is strange (I thought it was a presentation screen at first until I noticed the health bar decreasing). and the controls feel strange. Anyway, great atmosphere!

Snake Is Over by Langouste 2015-04-28T19:28:00

Loved the menu and levels modeling, so I was a little bit disapointed to discover a pong/breakout game. I also struggle to find how this fits the theme. Particle effects were nice!

Genemon by Pietro Ferrantelli 2015-04-25T07:59:00

My kids loved you visual design! The game is nervous but not too hard at the beginning, which is good. Was there sound? I like the possibility to choose the order in which I "unlické" the "weapons". Solid title!

Sinner Party by Zemmi 2015-04-24T20:17:00

Genuinely disturbing; very nice work on the mood. Liked your modeling a lot, too. Balistics under pressure is too hard for me :)

Castle Cake by RaysAndLazors 2015-04-22T21:30:00

Hey, very funny, and I liked the low-poly modeling. the game is a little bit too fast-aced too soon, though, and would benefit from some variety (would have loved to see other units, or bosses). The sound and music were fine too.

They Come from Behind by nonetheless 2015-04-23T17:32:00

Good idea, and I like your take on the theme. A little bit hard to time shots so as to touch enemies; gives some feeling of randomness/luck-based gameply. Or I'm just too bad at it ;-) Your graphisms are nice, love the background!

Audio Assault by Docjekyll 2015-04-24T19:56:00

Gosh, I'm so bad at rythm games! Very nice tracks!

Sock Ninja by monkeedude1212 2015-04-21T21:35:00

Liked the weapon mechanics (how I could grab those to use them again). Felt like towerfall ascension :)

The shinoby-like ending was fun too.

Scary Rocks by Pat Kemp 2015-04-24T20:39:00

Very solid, I love your graphical style (low poly and particles, yum!). The music was great too. Please add a very small tutorial at the beginning so that I don't have to read the description :)

Tanks vs. Bicycle by petey123567 2015-04-25T08:17:00

Very nice entry, and already fun as it is! I like your choise of colors and camera, and the voxel design obviously. The bicycle is nicely animated, if a little bit too hard to control. The music fits nicely.

The Hand That Feeds by Skinny Jean Death 2015-04-23T20:40:00

Nice art and music! I has some difficulties with the camera though.

Charge Negative by Leaghorn 2015-04-28T19:43:00

Once I read the nxtructions, this was definitely a very fun game to play! Some strange initial "dance" avoiding the other orb, always moving, and then a final "kill"... very original. Perhaps the screen is a little bit too shaky at times, and I would have liked to play fullscreen. The graphics and VFX are gorgeous! Nice music too, gives quite an atmosphere.

Floppy Man by Selzier 2015-04-23T17:40:00

Funny music, great graphics (liked the shading a lot) and physics (the protagonist of course, but also the glass and blocks). My kids laughted their xxx off at the view of the player movements :)

The Bunnysher by etherealWhisper 2015-04-24T20:23:00

Hey, nice work on the models and colors! I would have liked to have some control on the camera. Liked the fights and music!

Mein Sheep by Detocroix 2015-04-25T16:06:00

Very nice rendering and animation! I'm not sure I understood how to win the levels, though.

Giant Spiky Ball of Death by RobotHoboDanceParty 2015-04-25T08:08:00

A very good compo entry! Simple graphic design, but some nice touches (the background with instructions I like, its texture gives some sense of solidity), sound is present but not disturbing, the physics is fun, and there are multiple kinds of enemies. What's not to like?

Grazed by AJtheprogrammer 2015-04-24T20:50:00

Haha I mean what? Do you expect me to beat this game? OK I had some fun in your bullets hell

Catch Pet by Nibble Bits Studio 2015-04-23T21:25:00

Nice menus ans splash screens, did not find much of those in other entries. Liked the music and lighting. Controls where very smooth, and the gameplay is nice.

Sadly I have no one to play it with at the moment; bots would have been fun but I understand the harsh time restriction :)

Aquavi by Naxanria 2015-04-24T20:28:00

Nice little game, I liked the core mechanics but I don't think I was able to kill any enemy. Being so small on the screen game a nice feeling of scale.

It Overtakes Them by purenickery 2015-04-24T20:34:00

Great entry! Love the player design, and wall jumping? Particles? A nice concept (I like how the enemies are pacified and turned into "weapons")? What's not to like?

Oh, how am I supposed to survive night time, though?

Je Suis Charlie by Paulozz 2015-04-23T20:59:00

Nice Idea, cool voice acting ;)

Concrete Escape by Davikin92 2015-04-23T17:45:00

OK, played with my kid, we had great fun! Was able to progress by pushing the enemies off the border, did not really have to use the concrete mechanic.

The Song of Aria by sydan 2015-04-26T09:50:00

Thanks, I very much liked the audio ambience and the general graphics. Lighting is subtle and graphics are sharp, very pleasant. The daemons are interesting with their dash movements and fighting mechanics. Thanks for the checkpoints and bandages, which enabled me to get to the end of the game.

The levels discovering mechanism became a little bit tedious after a time, since it was just "spam click to reveal the current room". Perhaps some gameplay mechanism (your song attracts the daemons, or your memory of rooms fades after a while) would have made this more rewarding.

Oh, the mood/story is good and rings true too.

Evil Nightwasps versus Flashlight by rplnt 2015-04-24T21:05:00

I liked your take on the theme and on colors. How cruel of you to not provide us with a way to pick up extra batteries, though ;-)

The incubator by TheLocust 2015-04-25T13:05:00

Easy to understand, and nice visual design (I like the main asteroid shading and the abstract surrounding, gives a strange "deep space" mood). I'm not sure I understand your take on the theme.

MagDef by jhell 2015-04-25T12:58:00

Pluto is boring, then things get interesting. Can we die in this game? I liked the idea of upgrades and the general graphic design.

Magnetic Fields by oparisy 2015-04-23T21:30:00

@Docjekyll: I'd like to understand why the game does not start on your computer. What version of java do you have installed? Could you type "java -version" in the command line and give me the result? I'm afraid this will not work under Java 1.7.

Also, do you only have this error message, or can you provide me with a full stack trace?

Magnetic Fields by oparisy 2015-04-24T06:52:00

@Smiley Thanks for you feedback! I coded this from scratch (no engine) so I am very interested in fixing issues on various platforms.

I uploaded a new version which should not halt with this error message on your system.

Magnetic Fields by oparisy 2015-04-25T12:49:00

@CriticalMammal Thanks for your detailed review. This is my first LD compo and I spent 80% of my time coding the underlying rendering code and interfacing it with physics. This definitely lacked playtesting and adjusments.

I designed most of the game with basic placeholders (cubes and tores) and quickly did some modeling at the end to replace them; hence perhaps the mismatch your perceived.

The movements of the enemy are force-based but this is not supposed to model a gravity field; the player/wrenches interaction does, though.

Move Them by remiv 2015-04-21T20:22:00

Hey, funny game! But I cannot get past the third level :)

Music is appropriate, I like the home menu too.

From a gameplay point of view I think a beam-like effect would be nice, since I have difficulties to judge at which distance the space key is still effective.

Magnetic Pirate by player_03 2015-04-23T17:20:00

The slowness of the character makes him hard to play.

Nice concept, fits the theme I think.

I liked how you have to manage your "budget": you need to keep enought coins to be able to kill enemies easily.

ScarKrow by Carduus 2015-04-21T21:08:00

OK guys, serious greatness here. Love the animation, the music, the sounds (the player death one was a nice touch).

On the negative: double jump was great and empowering; lack of air control, not so much. I would have loved to eat the cheese, too, the ending was... frustrating.

Loved how most of the movement can be performed using the locking mechanism. Globally speacking, a very empowering game.

Jungle Hair by ncannasse 2015-04-21T20:35:00

Difficulty is a little harsh for me, I seem to have some jump timing issues :) Closer checkpoints (are there any?) would have helped me enjoy the content.

Music is nice and in the mood, finding a secret passage at the beginning of the game was nice. Enemies are nicely animated, I love the particules when breaking rocks too.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Tamamystery by Jezzamon 2016-01-04T22:18:00

I came here to test your game after reading your funny "behind the scenes" entry :)

Nice graphics, cool writing!

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2016-01-03T22:04:00

Thanks, I had a blast, that game was very fun to play and got a great musical score.

I finally lost, but without really understanding why. ore specifically, I did not feel like pressing keys out of timing really penalized me. Something with guns power, perhaps? Was that the lower-right hud counter?

Left-leaning by tayl1r 2016-01-03T22:30:00

Gosh, I love your visual design! The work on lightning is great, very nice particles too. The super meat boy feeling (up to the disseminated red bodies) got me in a motivating masocore mood :-)

Slash Quest by Big Green Pillow ft Mgaia 2016-01-02T13:56:00

That game has everything! Various foes and mechanics, gorgeous graphics, cute atmosphere, great sounds. Thanks, had a great time playing it.

Enliven by Patacorow 2016-01-03T22:14:00

Very nice mood and mechanics. Love your animations too. Sadly, I could not get past the third level, getting the seeds to grow properly was too error prone and tedious.

Button Sniper by BubuIIC 2015-12-15T23:07:00

OK, now, that's a definitely very good button clicking simulation. Like, the Super Meat Boy of button clicking (especially once you've understood you'd better keep your finger on that "r" key all the time). Whatever button clicking might be. Is that a thing in your place, something kids do? Anyway.

Liked the challenge, there's even a story and some graphics! Nice job guys.

DESEEDER by Zanzlanz 2016-01-03T22:33:00

Hey, very fun game! Original graphics, cool music, good action (weren't most of the plaforms destructible?).

Gardening Rabbit by lurils 2016-01-02T13:49:00

Gosh, my childhood! Very nicely executed, definitely in the theme. Lacked some incentive except highscoring, like I suppose most of those actual Game&Watch did :)

PISTIL PISTOL: BOTANY BLAST II by HacksawUnit 2016-01-02T13:31:00

Stupidly fun :) Great audio atmosphere. Had some difficulties to read some graphics (friends or foes?). Nice mechanics, right on the theme!

Harmony Bloom by Bensonance 2015-12-15T22:44:00

Liked your music, loved the idea of the bird cursor with its idle animation. I had difficulties understanding that I could walk on the pipes, their color scheme was disturbing I suppose. Got stuck on walls corners often, which was slowing me down.

I had some difficulties with the puzzles and the order in which I should solve them.

Nice atmosphere and execution overall.

Shroomys quest for fuel by StMatn 2015-12-16T21:53:00

Hey, that was good fun, I liked how I had to chase after all the little slime peaces I left behind to be able to go forward. Impressive animation code, nice particles, good idea.

Did you use a Java framework to code this? What are your apis?

Arc by ChuiGum 2016-01-02T13:27:00

Gosh, why so hard? Increasing difficulty progressively would have been more welcoming, but hey, masocore is all the rage. Great music, I see you used FL Studio.

Crow Wing by elliottd 2016-01-03T22:22:00

Pleasing to play with, elegant and minimalistic mechanics. Very nice modeling, your shading is a bit strange (normals?). The "alternate" passages were a nice touch, I replayed this some times expecting a secret passage somewhere :-)

Give and Take by Move127 2015-12-15T23:36:00

I'm not saying I understood the whole idea but there's a very pleasant feeling of cellular automata and god game here which made me nostalgic of my Populous days.

ICECUBE by Stuntddude 2015-12-15T23:43:00

I liked the levels design and the orange jump pad animation. Puzzles were original and properly designed, if a bit frustrating at times (when you have to judge which size you need juuuuust right).

Was I square pants bob? Alice in wonderland? Nice idea anyway, my funniest entry so far!

Goblinheart by ninjascript 2015-12-16T21:46:00

Liked your art style, and crawling the dungeon. I'm not sure I understand whic of the theme(s) you picked?

Hero of the nest by Alexander Shukalo 2015-12-15T23:45:00

Haha, very funny, if a little bit hard and unforgiving. Nice graphic design and general mood.

Cluster Junk: The Secret of Trash Island by Two Scoop Games 2016-01-02T13:46:00

Fun but got slow and hard to control fast. Nice sound and graphics design!

Volcano by uvwar 2016-01-02T14:03:00

Hello, haha indeed we had a similar idea and the same basic shortcoming (turning it into a game). Anyway I enjoyed your visual design and herb growing animation. Sound design was a nice touch too!

Legendary Legionnaire Massacre 2 by banana4life 2015-12-15T23:19:00

So great you wrote the song! Liked the general gameplay, even if I did not really understand why there were three numbers by city. Graphisms were minimal but easy to read. Very nice you recorded voices for actions too, felt like Warceaft 2 :-) Thanks, a pleasant game to play.

Star Something by liquidmedia 2015-12-15T22:57:00

I flied in various directions with great pleasure, admiring your various shaders and low-resolution shadow maps. Didn't really understand what was expected of me, and the visual design didn't help (I was not sure what I was looking at most of the time).

But, heeey, shiny.

Oh and I got in a secret-passage-bowel-like thing. Then got out of it due to a collision bug I suppose. That was rather nice, got to see the whole map from the outside and all that. Felt like doom II!

Oslo's Puppy by OttersDen 2015-12-16T21:43:00

Hey, that was fun! Liked the gameplay idea of the growing ally, which helps you more at the end that you do. The music what niceluy out of touch with the action, adding to the atmosphere.

Eldritch Trance by TheWzzard 2016-01-02T13:39:00

Very nice audio and visual cues, helped in "getting in" the game fast. Kind of hypnotizing, but got boring after a time: it was not clear I was on the verge of losing. Nice realization of the theme.

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2015-12-15T23:27:00

@Move127: that's definitely the case, I put some assets workflow ideas and a new coding toolking into practice, which consumed the greatest part of my compo time. That's indeed an investment for the next LD, which I'm eager to start already :-)

@Stuntdude: hey, thanks for your honestly, and I'm pleased you took the time to test this in any case, especially since "charming" definitely describes what I was targeting. I could definitely have added some gameplay rules once the hard part (an engine and some assets) were designed, but I ran out of time and wanted to keep it honest. The scenery idea is nice, I'll keep it in mind.

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2015-12-15T23:31:00

@BuBuIIC: yes, the animation (mostly inverse kinematics) took me some time, but not as much as writing the code to import it into my engine... Well, that won't have to be coded next time I presume :)

With respect to the water, I did the hard part once I detected the proper ground place where to grow the tree (see how it follows the local terrain curvature?), and intended to use the associated terrain information (water, snow, sand or grass) to grow an appropriate specy of tree, or nothing when on the water.

But, again, I had no time left for this.

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2015-12-16T21:58:00

I love how you people used this as some kind of screensaver. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

@ninjascript Well I'm not sure, it's only my second entry so far and I still try to learn and improve, so I'm more interested in tidying my code, reporting the bugs I've found in the libs I used and improving my toolking for now.

Plus, I'm not sure how far I can change what I have submitted (should I implement that "no trees on water" feature, or is this against the rules?).

If I find how I can serve two versions of my entry from github pages, I may work on some improvements indeed.

The rotation was is for the "realistic fealing" and is actually one on my only implemented gameplay rule (making aiming just a little bit more challenging, you spotted it).

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2016-01-02T14:07:00

@uvwar Hi, similar concepts indeed! I tested and liked your compo (I commented in more details there). My controls are mostly an out of the box "orbit camera". I chose to not use an independently moving cursor, which is easier to control, but as a consequence it lacks a visual cue of where the tree will grow.

The low-poly tree was modeled and animated in blender, using skeletal animation.

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2016-01-04T19:17:00

@local minimum: thanks for your detailed feedback. I expected to have the time to model different species of trees, and grow the appropriate one with respect to targeted surface. I agree with you that not growing on water would be the absolute minimum :)

I like your ecosystem idea a lot, definitely the kind of systems I'd like to toy with. I still struggle with how to build a gameplay upon it, though. Some kind of Populous game maybe...

Growing Trees! by oparisy 2016-01-04T19:20:00

@BunchaSapsGames Thanks! Yes, I indeed learned quite a lot wrt modeling, animation and workflows (game assets are a complex topic when not using an existing engine), and even reported a few bugs discovered (during compo time! Argh!) in libs I was using.

Button Betting by torcado 2016-01-02T13:20:00

Gross, but addictive due to the variety of mini-games (and injustice of some!). Nice controls idea, not convoluted.

Seven Weeks of Cat Monarchy by Fathom 2015-12-16T21:37:00

So I walk. A lot. Which is appropriate for a fatty ruling cat I guess. And talked. A lot.

Very nice graphics and ubuesque atmosphere. I liked how my decisions did not change much in agenerally stable situation. Had fun!

LD35 — Shapeshift

Shapeshifter Biker by Reuno 2016-05-09T21:12:00

OK, that thing is fantastically animated. I love your particles too, especially the black fumes. the music was quite fitting!

Za bochok by CAT_IN_THE_DARK_WOOD 2016-04-24T12:26:00

Yay, scala!

Great mood (music, lighting), liked the clearly differenciated classes. I had no issue pairing, took some seconds at most.

The visual footprints were a nice touch, would have loved some audio hints too.

Ludumdare #35 by Robert 2016-05-05T13:41:00

Hey, I had a very good time playing your game! The beginning was not very fun, but get some wings, a machine gun and let the fun begin! Liked the multiple musics, and the fact that the environment was destructible too, which added some interaction (destroying obstacles, digging grottos...). Liked how the pesky water ennemies target the boss instead of the player :)

I would have liked to understand better the difference between the different objects I pocked. I saw no point in getting mutiple objects of the same kind, too, that filled my inventory unnecessarily.

Map Shifter by woodenrabbit 2016-04-24T12:34:00

Nice colors, fun, fluid. Bullets felt powerful; would have liked to shoot in a direction different from my movement.

Blub by PnDAA 2016-05-05T13:02:00

Great, I could play as different animals! Not sure how I was supposed to win the fights, so I mostly let other animals kill each other. Also: blood. Was I expected to hear music?

Laser Town by Hectigo 2016-05-09T20:40:00

Solid game, very nice looking. Cool to see this written in three.js!

Druid VS Machine by William Florencio 2016-05-05T12:43:00

Hum, is this playable? I liked the graphics but could not find enemies, shoot or change shape?

Geo Fighter by SetArray 2016-04-25T20:43:00

Hey, Java, LWJGL? Cool! It's nice you had something interactive and smooth for your first LD. Your may consider using less repetitive patterns for the ground, as this leads to aliasing. Liked the controls and camera, nicely implemented.

motion: a by sepharoth213 2016-05-09T19:25:00

Hey, those shapes, they shift! Nice experiment, cool to see some three.js.

Space Catacombs by The Walking Kiwi 2016-04-24T12:40:00

Peew! Peew! Liked the health bar above the player, RTS-style.

Goons by gogo199432 2016-04-24T12:17:00

Many different objects with different characteristics (liked how I could shoot the extinguisher for extra damages), multiple and varied levels and kind of enemies... Fun indeed!

Labyrinth Spread by mrploszaj 2016-04-25T20:37:00

It's nice you drew many tiles and environments. But I kinda felt lost, soon, without a purpose. Slimes only retaliated when I attacked first: nice of them!

Mushroom Muncher by Kuality Games 2016-05-09T20:58:00

Funny game mechanics, if perhaps a bit boring. Great modeling and use of depth of fields and other specials effects; vivid colors too. Sounds and music helped to get in the mood too.

Ability Hunter by avenkat 2016-05-05T13:22:00

The sense of scale was strange, felt like an insect :) The game is difficult, didn't find ammos, and you have to kill that first ennemy FAST. Liked you wings model.

LabRadDog by MoreRPG Team 2016-04-25T20:47:00

Nice color theme, shadow maps would have needed more resolution; the FOV was strange too (but that may be intentional). Liked the concept a lot, but could not get past the first room, even with the tutorial hints, which were a nice touch.

Elementary by oparisy 2016-04-25T20:50:00

@TEAM-TIGER actually fire makes enemies flee, a la PacMan, but they are not aggressive enough for it to be very noticeable. I refrained to tune difficulty post-compo, could have increased the aggro radius as an example.

Elementary by oparisy 2016-04-25T20:52:00

@hunttis Taking terrain into account is a very nice idea, it was actually a basic placeholder I did not take time to change at the end, so the colors do not have much meaning. Indeed, I'm kinda pleased with the look of my 3-hours-of-coding particles system :)

Elementary by oparisy 2016-05-05T12:46:00

@madalaski Thanks for you feedback! What would be simpler controls, in your mind?

Elementary by oparisy 2016-05-05T12:49:00

@Cerno_b Thanks, your analysis matches mine exactly :) This boils down to lack of time. Definitely the enemies lack hints helping the player understand their behavior (at the minimum, their "aggro" state should be explicit. Music and sfx: next time I hope :)

Elementary by oparisy 2016-05-05T12:51:00

@Cerno_b Thanks for the link! I actually coded similar behaviors, but did not fine tune them enough to ramp up the difficulty.

Elementary by oparisy 2016-05-09T19:05:00

@SantiHisteria Is that so? I mostly tested it in full screen actually. Perhaps a focus issue? Did you click in the game area before playing?

Maze of the Silver Elements by logiclogue 2016-05-09T19:21:00

Nice to see a three.js game; easily tested. I did not find much to do in this labyrinth, though. Felt like wolfenstein 3D :)

Breaking Fat by SantiHisteria 2016-05-05T13:57:00

Nice classical platformer, liked the graphics, cool music too. Didn't have the patience to get past the second level though: I would have liked some kind of checkpoint to avoid redoing everything each time.

AAA Wars by alexlemming 2016-04-25T20:30:00

Nice modeling, the lightning was a little bit over the top though. Should have been able to control the dinosaurs?

Grokh's Arena by Cerno_b 2016-04-25T20:22:00

I liked the retro art style! Controls are very intuitive, I needed no time to adapt. It was fun to try the different classes against opponents.

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-05-05T13:14:00

Very nice intro and low-poly art style. Had to desactivate the bloom and tilt shift, but appreciated the defaut control scheme. Fiercely difficult, though.

Why couldn't play in full hd, full screen?

Walker by Yetikatt 2016-05-09T19:18:00

A very solid entry: great graphics, some animations, very nice lighting. Enemies were creepy, as was the night settings. Nice levels too. The player was a bit hard to control, especially in human form, and the jumps rather unforgiving. Great game anyway.

EUROPA by freakoftheyear 2016-05-05T12:57:00

I liked your graphics and controls idea. Would have fit well in the last LD theme :) I found the game fiercely difficult: the player moves slowly, but jumps very fast, so I had no time to cross obstacles. A bug maybe?

Nice that you had time for sfx and music!

Slide-by-Shootin by lambda- 2016-04-24T12:01:00

The idea is nice, event if I had difficulties with the controls. I appreciated a lot the detailed help and proper menus.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Modular Destruction Labs by SecondDimension 2017-08-05T08:43:05Z

This is a GREAT physics-based game, where the simulation is actually an enjoyable an full part of the experience.

The music is fun and not stressful; the pieces rotating around the robot are humorous and convey properly some "experimental setup" feeling.

Solid game, nice levels progression, not too hard in the beginning, even some puzzles included!

ROBOT POWER by Imphenzia 2017-08-02T21:43:25Z

Hey but that music was groovy! Loved the animated, in-engine home screen. Animating low-poly trees look nice.

In-game animations are cool, but the game is rather frustratingly difficult due to hard-to-get-out-of trees collision and no U-turn support while flying.

Is this modelled in Blender? This looks very nice!

Supernode by Dustyroom 2017-08-05T09:02:59Z

This is a very polished game! I loved the art style, the animations / interactions and the music.

Did not understand at first that there was no real sense of "level", but a continuous evolution of the board, which is very nice.

A Developer's Nightmare by testudor 2017-08-02T21:23:46Z

I could definitely relate with this poor programmer's lack of sleep :)

I likes the fact that you made a full game, with sounds, differents levels and kind of screens, some music.

Controls could be improved, though. I had the feeling your had two set of keys (WSAD pour menus and arrows for moving the player), and I had to switch back and forth to the mouse to solve the puzzles. Since the coffeemeter runs fast, I lost numerous times since I did not got to the keys fast enough once the puzzle was solved. Frustrating!

Battery by BoltKey 2017-08-06T14:55:33Z

OK. Solid 5 overvall :)

Last survivor by Hadik 2017-08-05T10:38:07Z

Very nice visual design and general feeling.

The game feels kinda slow at first, do to player movements and the high level of resource required for the fire.

Spent my first night running in circles around a fire, chased by zombies... Good "Don't Starve" vibe :)

Very polished for a compo!

Yo Ho Ho by Capitals 2017-08-05T20:35:48Z

One of the rare games I played multiple times. The idea of "crewmen as stats" is nice, and the naval battles were fun to play. Liked the music too.

My E-Car by wilthord 2017-08-05T10:30:16Z

The idea of exploiting enemies behavior to get rid of them is pretty good!

Is it intentional that some batteries can pop on obstacles?

I like the classical graphics. Those and the sound design reminded me of some good 8-bits games era.

Power Trip by notime4games 2017-08-05T09:07:44Z

I liked your art style a lot, and that starfield. Cool "classic" vibe here. It's nice that you aimed at a minimal gameplay. Would I liked some animation of the thrusted, and some music perhaps.

The Nuclear Age by foxor 2017-08-06T14:49:57Z

An intro! Great!!

Did not exactly understand how power was distributed, I'm afraid some tutorial is required.

Liked your music and "green screen" art style.

Rise Shine Fall by ijona 2017-08-02T21:36:25Z

OK, I don't usually test Windows exe games, but this looked like Proteus, so I had to give it a go.

Did I Win? Did I loose? Did I got free? Great experience anyway. Loved that glitchy/vectory style, oh and the sound design!

Did not at first think much about the theme interpretation, but then you got a 5 there obviously.

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-08-06T15:01:36Z

Great theme execution, liked a lot the particles and sound too.

Man, this is hash! Enemies shoots are too fast to be dodged, you have to get a feel for their frequency. Is this the Dark Souls of space invaders? ;)

Towers of Power by terryg 2017-08-05T10:26:09Z

Oh! Music! Cool.

That idea of harvesting efficiently an imposed power source is very interesting.

Would have liked some shooting animation for the towers.

Zero Volt X by deepnight 2017-08-05T19:32:35Z

As usual, your game was challenging, but I was able to complete it. It's always a pleasure!

Pathjumper by mrnyarlathotep 2017-08-05T10:22:54Z

It's fun and appropriate you used the classic Asteroids controls. Would have liked a small graphics/animation for the thrusters. Nice graphics.

Powered By Coal by LiquidBrain 2017-08-02T17:59:09Z

Great game, had a blast playing it! Loved your map structure, the overall balancing, and the credits obviously.

It's nice you were able to complete this game, including a home screen, balancing and a proper tutorial.

A small feedback: I thinks the game could play faster by accelerating resources production. Considering that the rest of the game is turn-based, it feel strange to wait for resources. Though of course this feels more realistic and, to be honest, moving the train constantly avoid being bored :)

Embers by Mortadelegle 2017-08-06T14:43:57Z

Woah, how hash! Is this a take on how difficult surviving is in isolation? :)

Great atmosphere.

Lights Out by Brandon Diaz 2017-08-03T19:25:17Z

Very relaxing music, great night-time design and a funny passive-aggressive bot too :)

Felt stupid in not being able to complete the last maps, but hey, my fault not yours.

Great overall polish, thanks for the experience. The "tool switching" sound feels a bit off; I thought I did something wrong.

Fuse Cell by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-05T19:39:50Z

Liked it a lot! The timing-based minigame to keep energy level afloat is fun to master. Your sound design is very nice; shooting in particular is very satisfying, the music too. Enemies have some visual personality. A pleasure to test!

A Growing City by Lipsch 2017-08-05T10:17:31Z

Oh, very nice ! This looks a lot like the visuals I had in mind for my LD39 entry :)

Blow Out by Cristi Mihai 2017-08-05T08:56:45Z

Frankly, this is rather cool. Your animations and graphics do the trick and have some charming quality (some Stardew Valley vibe or, well, Hotline Miami). I frowned on the use of a well-known brand as a main asset/counter, but, why not.

I like that the player is slowing when thirsty. Would have liked to be able to turn the TV on :)

Energy Scraps by Royoyo 2017-08-05T08:50:43Z

I liked your level "canyon" design a lot! Enemies are effective too. Strange mouse slowness/lack of sensibility though.

TRIAL OF THE 3 SUNS by Godot35 2017-08-05T10:12:49Z

Harsh platformer (jumps were a little bit hard to control), but great concept and execution.

Loved the game boy / super meat boy visual style mashup.

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-05T10:07:08Z

Very nice animation effects and general mood. Simple, effective sound design.

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-05T20:07:53Z

Great stylized graphics, the music is kinda tiring after a time (especially since it is not cleanly looping) but it's a good seed of a theme! Liked the core mechanisms, but it seemed to me like the second jump was more powerful than the first could be?

Power Tycoon by oparisy 2017-08-02T18:51:58Z

Hey @liquidbrain, thank you very much for your feedback! Pleased you liked it, I spent more time playtesting and balancing it than usual.

Some sound effects and wiring were definitely on my TODO list, yes. And a day/night render, actual 3D assets... Well, it all boils down to lack of time.

Regards! Olivier.

Power Tycoon by oparisy 2017-08-05T19:54:47Z

@christina-antoinette-neofotistou As a friend suggested, the city energy consumption should probably increase faster that it does now. Also, I should have ensured that "high end" energy sources were much more expensive, so that solar was a necessity. And it's much more interesting to play since it requires accumulators. Heck, spent probably 3 hours playtesting and balancing it during the jam; definitely demonstrates you can't definitely balance a game without players :)

Power Tycoon by oparisy 2017-08-06T16:22:39Z

@brorawr Indeed you did, thanks ;)

Power Tycoon by oparisy 2017-08-07T09:38:39Z

@bombjack hey, thanks! But... Are we talking about the same game? :)
