Hey cool game! I really liked seeing the town sprout up around my power plants. I never liked having to create residential areas in games like SimCity so I was glad it happened automatically.

I eventually stopped playing because the power sources were needing to be repaired every second, sometimes multiple per second, so it got a little tedious. Maybe it was how I placed them?

Good work!

@kalibrated Yeah, the tutorial didn't really explain that.. The more pollution on a tile is, the more often buildings on it break down. Thanks for the Comment (:

This game looks very nice, and I have to agree with kalibrated that it's quite sweet to watch the city evolve as you progress. Only problem was that I pretty quickly ran out of space, which meant I had to build my production buildings very close to each other, which then resulted in very rapid breakdown. As mentioned above I also found it quite tedious when I reached that stage to spam-click repairs everywhere!

However, I think I completed the game, because I suddenly got a screen saying "Thanks for playing my game" and I entered my name! :D

All around neat and good looking game. Very well done :)

I also had the problem with the repairs :) I figured it out by myself, but it was annoying in the beginning

I finished it, i had a strategy of nuclear power surounded by wind power. i'd love to be able to move with the middle mouse button though. keep it up

Art is pretty good for compo entry. I fell pray to the pollution cycle of putting all my power plants next to each other, kinda made the game about how fast I could click.

Cute little game that kinda reminds me of a lot of entries from the last LD.

You seem to have a small bug in that restarting the game requires a page reload, since going to the menu and restarting doesn't reset properly.

As others mentioned, getting to watch your city grow was by far the best part of the game. OTOH, micro managing the repairs was a bit of a struggle. My route was to just place a ton of wind turbines next to each other, which I felt did a good job at reducing repairs necessary, at the expense of using a lot of tiles.

Interesting, I also put all power sources next to each other and was wondering why they break so often. I was too busy repairing them and didn't monitor the city so I was surprised by the end screen "out of nowhere". It would be nice if the city was visible in the background of the end screen.

The WebGL version worked fine on macOS + Safari after switching to fullscreen, only the FPS dropped whenever multiple particle-emiting nuclear plants were on screen.

Nicely done!

Nice concept but I felt execution would benefit from bit re-thinking. My biggest complaint was lack of any kind of key/controls listing (you explained mechanics well), I was bit confused at first and misclicked couple of buildings in random places. That leads us to second problem I had, after resetting game (main menu/start game) placement didn’t work anymore. Same happened both in web and downloadable version. After I got the hang of it, I managed to complete the game.

I really liked your minimalistic art style. Only things that bothered me was that there wasn’t enough padding in the tutorial windows and changing font size felt bit sloppy (also not fan of Arial, but that’s just me :)). Also different heights on terrain made it look bit confusing and busy. Flat land could work as well as height didn’t seem to affect gameplay in anyway.

Soundwise your game was bit lacking, maybe a simple background music or ambient could have added more atmosphere to the game.

Overall interesting idea and nicely done game!

Really well designed and simple game, but my power plants kept breaking down really fast.

jake-cope 2017-08-05 05:44

Cool game! It seems like I had a similar problem to other people with the breakdown rate, then I actually read the website... whoops! I was shocked to see how many 3D models you were able to make in such a small time period. Nice job!

Great entry! :) I'd just say the game tends to slow down when there's too many buildings, but other than that and the audio, everything is really nice! ^^ Good idea, I like the way the city expands. Congrats!

Oh, very nice ! This looks a lot like the visuals I had in mind for my LD39 entry :)

I couldn't grow a city like the picture above but... whatever. liked the gameplay. keep adding more gameplay mechanics so it won't look and feel like games like "Sim City" and "City Skylines." I would have liked to have a mission while playing. Wish you success.
