Was fun to play the controls felt a little bit unresponsive while in the air but i guess that is intentionally. In the air however the robot did not face the direction he was going that felt a bit odd. BUt good work overal

(+) - very nice graphics - good level design - theme, atmosphere
(-) - controls - no rotation of the robot when using the jetpack, it feels strange - when you die, you restart at the very beginning ...
I like robot and rocket design very much but game itself needs a lot of polish.
Controls are awful! Always spend more time on player controls! Horisontal inertia is too much, and you can't reverse it with jetpack, it feels wrong. Robot stucking on the platform edges. And one time he didn't manage to get inside of the rocked and dragged behind it all the way to the space and back - and when landed, he was uncontrolable. That effectively broken game.
A pretty game, loved the visuals :)
Thanks for the feedback so far! I understand the criticism about the controls. Initially I wasn't using physics but I ran into bugs and decided to switch to rigidbody physics which presented new challenges late in the process, inertia being one of them. Personally I sort of like the feel of the jetpack but that's probably because I got used to making minor adjustments to balance in the air. Today my 7yo son tried the game and he banged his fist into the table in frustration so please provide suggestions about how you would like the controls to be =)
At first I also had so the robot flipped in the air when turning left and right but I changed that (for the good and bad) so he was also facing the way he took off. Sometimes it adds to the challenge because you may be better off flying off an edge in the "wrong" direction to get better propulsion below the drop - but then again I think the fact that it "feels wrong" outweighs the benefit of the added challenge.
The bug of being dragged behind the rocket occurs if you fly to the entry point, I think. I'll see if I can fix it post release now.
Glad the visuals received positive feedback, I was spending quite some time on them while trying to think of the mechanics and plot.
Cool game, looks and sound very nice.
I found the controls to be bit clunky and I got stuck in trees quite often or overshot the target and had to use way too much power to save myself from the fall. I didn't manage to finish too many levels on easy, how hard are the other ones...?
Very well done! I thought the music was appropriate, the level transition was very clever, and I had fun! I agree about the controls and death taking you back to the beginning. Definitely one of my favorite games of the Compo so far!
As far as suggestions for the controls... I'm not sure... a jank thought would be to add a bit of slight force to the movements to make them snappier... but I've never tested that...
Wow, I was also really impressed with the visuals, I think you nailed that cute low polygon style, good work on that, so often 3d games in jams feel a bit sterile because they lack animation or something. Agree with the others that controls could use some work but I didn't find them that bad. The thing of the robot slowing down as the power goes down is actually a bit annoying, I know its the theme but would be better without I think. Aside from maybe the controls I thought the whole experience felt pretty polished. I also made a game with a jetpack, everyone also complained about my controls. If I as going to complain, I would say maybe it gets a bit repetitive, so perhaps some additional mechanics probably force related in later levels would be fun, but for the time its still great. Nice work
Physics are weird, there are some collision issues and I don't really like the level design but the game is visually gorgeous and the music is great. It's amazing that you could make such a good game alone in 48 hours. Good work!
The game is good! But the character's movement is very rigid. I missed a jump to not waste gas in a few moments.
Love the little robot animations. I played the WebGL version and it ran a little slow. Re: Controls I think just adding the ability to turn mid-air would make a big difference and others have said not having to restart. Very impressive work, really enjoyed your time lapse video.
Nice art and leveldesign! My respect for doing this in 48 hours.
(had a bug At level 7: the robot glitched out of the rocket and wasn't maneuverable anymore)
I love this Game!! but there are some glitches.. Such as colliders in random locations and when in ship, pressing the space key
Great entry. I'm a sucker for flat shaded/ low poly graphics so I inherently loved the visuals. Gameplay is solid. I thought the gravity was a bit low and the controls in air were slow to respond but I began to realize that's where the challenge and strategy lied. Good stuff!
Nice graphics! The gamplay is fine for the game. I really like the animation when the robot enter the ship when the level is completed. Nice job ;)
I'm someone with a love for low poly graphics, so this game was amazing in that aspect. The background music was really well made, and I applaud you for that. It felt really unforgiving (which I do like); once you make a wrong decision, that's it, back to square one. The general level design was also really well done.
The gameplay was solid and smooth, but I feel like the movement felt really floaty (I guess that's fine because of the jetpack though), which made it really hard to navigate easily through the levels. There were also some buggy colliders on which I got stuck and wasted a lot of power, sadly.
Overall, I enjoyed the game a lot, and, for being made in 48h, you did a tremendous job at this!
I really like the low-poly art style and the lovely animations for the tiny robot. The controls feel a little clunky unfortunately, especially the jetpack controls. I can't get over how cool the art style in this is though :)
Hey but that music was groovy! Loved the animated, in-engine home screen. Animating low-poly trees look nice.
In-game animations are cool, but the game is rather frustratingly difficult due to hard-to-get-out-of trees collision and no U-turn support while flying.
Is this modelled in Blender? This looks very nice!
This game looks and feel great and this is a compo!? Nicely done! :) I think it would've the difficulty more challenging if I also needed power to move to the next level. That would've cause a more careful thinking about when to fly around versus walking ;)
The game looks and sounds great! I'm also a sucker for low-poly art, haha. I found the controls were a bit numb in the air, but I guess that motivates more precision flying. I was stuck on the first level until I actually read the instructions that I had to go back to the rocket. On the plus side, I went farther left than the background image :P Good job though!
Really interesting game, fun to play. Amazing art, and an awesome background music. Cool sound effects matched with animations and particles. The controls felt a little bit difficult, specially mid-air, but maybe it's part of the challenge. Just missed the possibility of flipping the robot when in air, was kinda strange to keep flying backwards if I launched myself facing other direction than the one I wanted to go to. I also felt that I had too much energy and wasn't in real danger, but maybe I got lucky :P Great game overall, amazing work, congratulations!
Great polish on this game. The controls are tough for me (as I'm not a terribly hardcore guy), but I definitely appreciate the work put into the details of both the graphics and sound. Nice work!
Cool game, the graphics are well done and even though it's a bit hard to control it's still fun. Maybe you could add the possibility to change direction while using the jetpack. good job overall!
Very fun gameplay with a nice difficulty curve! A little unforgiving to restart to level 1, but I understand that it adds much more of a necessity to conserve power. I would have liked to be able to change directions while in the air, but besides that I found the controls to be fairly satisfying! (I'm a big fan of games in which the player has to manage a large amount of momentum like this). The visuals were nice and simple, and I really liked the audio. Overall, this is an excellent entry!
(I might just have to give you 5 stars after learning of your... difficult working environment. I experienced something a little similar during my compo)
I like the graphics and the controls are quite good. I agree that it would be nice to be able to control the jetpack in the air, but that would change the rules, I guess.
I also like that you can speed up the intro for each level. Nice detail.
Great work!
I liked it! I wish gravity pulled a little harder and the coliders weren't so sticky, but its a really great concept and well done! Great work!
something tells me i did the right thing by playing it on easy, but there is joy to be had if time was aplenty in the later difficulties, jolly good show! very nice graphs !
Great graphics, good music. I'm not a fan of the movement, while I like the floatiness, I would like a bit more Horizontal control. Some platforms were deceiving, being just off the player plane costing me a lot of energy. But other that that the game is very fun, quite big and very impressive for a Compo game. Also I love the creativity in reusing the assets you have.
The game has a charming art style which is animated and lit very well! The trees sometimes seem to get in the way of movement and the character has a bit too much momentum. Not being able to turn mid air is also slightly awkward. I really like the level transition and the option to speed it up! The music in the game is also very nice. I hope to see more submissions from you in the future; great job overall!
There isn't anything new i could add as feedback. All i can say is that i'm impressed with how much work you've put into this game. I also watched the time-lapse video. I also really enjoyed the game (on easy) and i had fun playing it. Keep up the good work!
Those clouds... Nice touch, loved it
Overall excellent entry -- music was excellent, graphics were great, animations showed great attention to detail. I spend most of the time in the air so I didn't notice the low power walk until much later. The gameplay is slow and deliberate, as required from saving power, but I found it was easy to get stuck in trees, ledges etc. which was a little frustrating. Nice job and I look forward to checkout out the timelapse!
I've been doing some research and found some serious complaints about Paylocity amid very few positive reviews. The interface appears to be excellent https://paylocitylogin.site/
