LD39 — Running out of Power

eDrive by TimBeaudet 2017-08-04T23:22:33Z

A simple yet very polished game. I like how the game queues lane switches. How those fast cars get notifications. And its funny how the "safe" green areas are switched to by the obstacle-cars. There is a great difficulty curve, and the music is pretty good. More complex mechanics (perhaps involving the power mechanic) or a higher skill ceiling could improve it, but given the polish and being developed in a game jam it's really a great entry!

Azrellian Asteroid Field by KunoNoOni 2017-08-14T17:12:14Z

I love the difficulty curve of this game, makes it feel really polished.

Escape the Morgue by Jacksendary 2017-08-14T16:12:14Z

This is extremely good. Very well atmosphere, created by the lighting and music and the well crafted models. I did spend a very long time searching for clues. Good amount of play time. Thanks for this this game!

Unplugged by Sheepolution 2017-08-01T16:30:23Z

Not sure if the battery mechanic works on mac, but I will assume it does given other reviewers.

I like that you used it, but I'm not sure if it used as a multiplier for a heart is a meaningful use of the battery loss. The graphics are great, the heartbeat sound with graphics work really well. Decent clicker otherwise with some non-standard effects. So thats great!

Ads will tell our Story for us by Nicso 2017-08-13T15:46:13Z

Echoing again :(

ROBOT POWER by Imphenzia 2017-08-17T13:58:58Z

Great graphics, good music. I'm not a fan of the movement, while I like the floatiness, I would like a bit more Horizontal control. Some platforms were deceiving, being just off the player plane costing me a lot of energy. But other that that the game is very fun, quite big and very impressive for a Compo game. Also I love the creativity in reusing the assets you have.

Portals and Boxes by Luis Giron 2017-08-14T22:30:58Z

I think this one is really cool. Loved the audio, the puzzle mechanics, the graphics, they are all really great. I'm not sure about the control scheme, though. Also I would have loved some extra levels. But other than that, it's very great game!

The Empire's Fall - EstrelSteel by EstrelSteel 2017-08-14T14:33:09Z

The game really looks different from the pic indeed. I also had trouble figuring out which were mines and which ones weren't. But all in all it's a simple but well made game.

Solar Castle by stencilchris 2017-08-17T16:12:21Z

Simple game, but pretty fun to play. Some jump are really tight though, but stopping comes in handy there. Music is a great addition, also the light's blocked by the player, which is pretty cool. (Pretty sure that's not unity default, but could be a jam addition). For 10 hours it's really decent.

Neuropower by klianc09 2017-08-14T16:50:44Z

I love games where you make networks like this. Very nice entry. I would have loved some feeling of progress though, or some sort of emergent goal, but none came for me. Very great concept though, and I assume quite a bit of implementation time went into this. Would love to see a more fleshed out game using this concept. Very nice!

Computer Crisis by PixelFormedStudios 2017-08-14T23:38:02Z

I had a good laugh with this one, thank you! Game play graphics music, all unique and pretty good!

Mad Maxi Taxi by Thirsty 2017-08-20T20:09:14Z

Shooting didn't work for me. (Safari)

I liked how the steering felt, especially the the difference between the terrain types. The world seemed very empty though, but I imagine this being a open-world with some quests in a new version, that would be super awesome!

Stranded In Space by MAT4DOR 2017-08-14T15:27:23Z

Nice little builder. Like the graphics and it was fun to play. Could be a bit hard, but the challenge might also come from setting lower times, but I would love some more dynamics for that. Great entry! (Time 4:36)

Is Your Refrigerator Running? by urbanhelsing 2017-08-13T15:40:09Z

The humor alone is great enough to motivate me to go up! I would have loved some stickier platforms though and cloudier clouds. The production value on this game is great!

Interstellar Electric Inc. by quadtree 2017-08-14T15:33:14Z

Very nice game. Liked building and growin the network. Props for adding hotkeys, those made playing this game a lot smoother. I'm not a fan of the SFX which were sudden and harsh. But other than that I really liked it!

Last survivor by Hadik 2017-08-14T13:12:55Z

Great game. I like the Don't Starve like mechanics. Gameplay seems quite balanced for a LD game too, although it took me some time to figure it out. Some eerie music would have been great. I have always thought art styles like this were made with 3D models, and now I know, great stuff! Fun entry!

Sabotage by lythom 2017-08-20T20:13:12Z

I love the graphics for a clicker-ish game like this . My reading is not the fastest though, so that was stressful at first, but after I memorised the cards it became really fun! Would be great to see some weirder synergy between the cards. Overall a really cool entry.

Mars Mystery by wolar 2017-08-14T17:02:29Z

I liked the controls. The sounds, lighting and ambience. I liked how the sonar misguides you in harder levels, forcing you to look around more. And, of course, the fact that you were looking for man reading a newspaper on the toilet. I didn't like the fact that running out of power required are full restart of the game. But a very Minor thing. great game!

Nuclear Arms 4: Fallout of The Mountain King by Logicon211 2017-08-14T18:05:46Z

Oooh, this game is really fun. The level design is great, and it even has destroyable terrain. Very nice. The game got very slow in the end though.

Take my charge by josehzz 2017-08-14T21:59:14Z

Wow, really nice game. The platforming feel really great. The graphics are minimalistic, but look great. The sounds are great. Only complaint is that the psychics engine bails sometimes. Very nice entry!

Night Shift by galacticglum 2017-08-16T18:32:27Z

This one contains one of the best puzzle collections I have seen during any Ludum Dare. I don't really get the power meter, because I wasn't held back by it. (Once, but that was actually when the meter reached zero when I solved the puzzle, maybe fix the check order.) I liked how the light dimmed as I used up the power though so if you could make the power a bit more meaningful you have a great mechanic to improve on this puzzle mechanic.

Anyways, I enjoyed this one __ a lot__!

RobotiLab by afendar 2017-08-22T15:02:20Z

The graphics area rally good. But the lag makes this game almost unplayable. So sad. From what my patience allowed me to play the game was decently fun, but jumping was very hard with the lag.

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-01T17:15:44Z

Awesome game. The shooting mechanic is fun, but can get really annoying, especially when the boss spawns a ton of zombies. Level design is adequate. Music is good, but feels a bit out of place, SFX is pretty fitting though. Graphics are fine, but could go with a bit more polish maybe, but it's a 48hour jam so still really great! But hey, all very minor things! Its really great overall! Congrats on this one!

Dream Disc by mindfungus 2017-08-14T17:30:16Z

This game is awesome! I love the graphic style, I wished there were more like it around this LD. The audio is great too. I didnt like the fact that I had to redo some levels, but I assume it is a random-ish selection to see if you have enough turns left? Anyways great game!

The Music Box by DDRKirbyISQ 2017-08-15T00:26:54Z

The music, the art really awesome! The game feels really great, with the little details and the nice characters. The controls are simple, which is perfect. I cant really add anything else, it's just great.

LudumsWitch by Tommy 2017-08-14T15:37:32Z

Liked the game. Especially the graphics and the incorporation of LD things. Cheers!

Runner Out Of Power by Mathiouza 2017-08-14T17:03:47Z

Didnt run on mac :(

Runner Out Of Power by Mathiouza 2017-08-16T19:01:54Z

Sorry :( still doesnt work: ```Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Failed to locate library: liblwjgl.dylib```

Even manually adding the lib to the classpath didn't work.

Runner Out Of Power by Mathiouza 2017-08-17T13:40:09Z

Hey, I checked out if I could build it from source. (I have to keep my Java skills up to date anyway). The error I reported isn't the only one. It appears getting the right OpenGL version to work on Mac isn't as easy as it should be. So I'm giving up, and looking for a windows machine. :)

Runner Out Of Power by Mathiouza 2017-08-17T17:42:13Z

NP, if someone goes through the trouble of porting a game to macOS, I feel I should help out if I can. Anyways, played it on Windows.

The mechanic reminds me of perhaps the hardest of BattleToads levels, with some added twists. The background music is very nice. To me the difficulty curve could be a bit smoother, but it was doable in the end. The graphics have some kind of charm which I like. It's a simple yet fun entry! (And props for using low level stuff for making your entry.)

The Hunt for Red October Box by hadesfury 2017-08-14T17:07:56Z

Nice atmostphere, good control feel, though maybe a tad too easy. Sound is nice. Graphics look polished. I didn't like the hit sound, nor the fact that the hit detection felt a bit buggy. But apart from that everything is truly great!

Power Hamstro: A Hamster Point and Click Adventure by defectivemelon 2017-08-22T15:15:19Z

Please don't be so negative about yourself. (It even affects others, so use positive sarcasm perhaps or over the top praising.) Too bad there are only three things to click on. Could have become really funny if you didn't lose your passion, the basics are pretty good!

Don't Go Flat by wh05herlock 2017-08-22T15:08:25Z

The game was pretty cool and pretty enjoyable for such a simple game. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the camera, but it's interesting. Kill the enemies was kinda hard. But I played on a touchpad making aiming a bit harder. Overall pretty enjoyable!

Gain Quest: The Art of Muscle by Devastus 2017-08-17T15:16:49Z

A bit simple, but very polished game. I felt it was a bit hard. But the graphics, sfx and music made up for that. Great entry!

Faade by Ace17 2017-08-14T17:56:22Z

Wow, not sure what kind of acid is in those batteries, tripping hard. A decent platformer with a weird twist. The tripping makes the game pretty hard though, but adds to the Power as a Timer mechanic. The music and graphics really work well for this game. Very interesting.

Behind Enemy Lines by tgiant 2017-08-08T19:35:06Z

I loved the graphics, the colours were nicely chosen, although I think the terrain would be greater with poly art too. To me the energy mechanic is fun and also a (exaggerated here) real world problem that is ofter skipped in helicopter games. It would be fun though if there was something to do as you are flying back. The enemy's were decently diverse and looked adorable. Also thats quite a few assets for 72Hs by yourself. Well done!

Ghost in the Machine by bmacintosh 2017-08-17T14:36:11Z

Really fun game. Reminds me a bit of Monaco, but with some graphics that are easier to the eye (though these are a tad small). I liked it a lot, though there was some fighting over who got to use the recharge battery. (btw, It would be great if you could disambiguate the battery types a bit more for gameplay) Music was really good too. All in all a very good entry!

Star Power by Simon Millard 2017-08-14T15:56:55Z

This is a really cool concept, with a great implementation. Graphics are good, music is decent. And most importantly it is fun. A bit hard and clumsy though, but thats part of the fun. Thanks for putting a smile on my face/

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-01T11:34:30Z

Always impressive to see a 3D shooter in the Compo. I could snipe most enemies without moving, and just grabbing ammo when needed. Also would love a bit more recoil. Minor things though, and since its a Compo-entry so getting all that done by yourself in time. Great stuff!

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-01T21:00:23Z

I really like the concept, and saw this on twitter, so I had to play it. Learning how to make your own sounds by looking at the wave form and the operators is a must have skill for any sound designer! (This might be fixed in the post compo version?). The learning curve seems rather steep though. While the platforming element is cool especially with the graphics, I feel if you ommitted that you could have focused on the learning part a bit more, but yeah: hindsight bias.

The sounds you make dont blend well with the background, so that would be awesome to see as well.

Overall it looks great, the controls feel pretty good, and the idea is fun. Though only vaguely connected to the theme. Great job, will play the post-compo version now!

COAL by beta 2017-08-14T17:20:15Z

Crashed on both chrome and safari, and there is no mac build. A shame because it looks really inviting. :(

Assault + Battery by dynamic-panic-studios 2017-08-17T16:55:02Z

This is pretty cool. I like the abilities mixed with the old school one screen mechanics. The graphics are pretty good too. The music is very decent as well. I did have trouble understanding when abilities would work and when not, but I feel there was some timeout in play. Also I was a gameboy.

Need More Power! by Mektidas 2017-08-17T14:11:52Z

Took some time to figure out the controls (arrows). But I love how in some way this feels very realistic. Also the graphics are very nice. An addition would be (high)scores. It's very simple yet very fun!

Ludum Dare Simulator - Click your way to the top of Ludum Dare leaderboard! by Nufflee 2017-08-17T21:11:09Z

A really hard clicker. Luckily you can die reasonably fast, which makes this one really interesting.

StaminaAid by kidando 2017-08-22T14:42:29Z

The feel good music :D Game was pretty cool. Not the most original, but very well implemented. Sometimes the path was fully obstructed by obstacles and those diagonal walking guys, when I just got a boost, making jumping very hard witch was a bit annoying. But these make this game stand out from the standard top down drag racing games.

Runaway Convoy by Hilvon 2017-08-02T16:36:42Z

Can confirm that macOS runs fine!

Fun concept, but I would have loved a couple of extra levels. Also I couldn't find out how to transfer all ships (but if I understand the rules correctly its not possible). Would be a really cool game if you add some more levels!

Tunnel Bad Trip by bellatrion 2017-08-14T14:53:56Z

Fun game, interesting art style, though a bit more variety would have been great. Although the gravity was fun. "None shall pass!" Good background noise.

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-03T15:10:30Z

Thank for the feedback guys! It really means a lot to me and will be used for a post-compo version!

@starlight-glimmer-is-best-poney Thanks for checking will see if I can fix it.

@asofi I assumed that wouldn't play very nicely, but I'll check it out for the post-compo version

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-05T13:02:57Z

@pavalsovushkin Kafka was definitely something that went through my head designing the game! :D

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-12T01:45:31Z

I really love the controls myself, but I understand they might feel a bit niche. But for the Post-Compo entry that will be released tomorrow __I have decided to part with my beloved controls__ for the better. :'( P.S. It also includes mouse controls, it seemed decent.

Edit: It's out!

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-20T12:34:49Z

@levidsmith I'm not sure you played the game long enough to be able to give a proper conclusion, there is a whole lot more than just collecting circles, as you can read from most other reviews...

Don't get me wrong, negative feedback teaches me more. But for that I need feedback from past the first 30 seconds of the game. The only conclusion I can get from this is to update the game to guide players a bit better in the beginning, for the few people that need that I added a short video and some hints. Please play games a bit more thoroughly. While I have enough feedback, others might need feedback that's a bit beyond the first 30 seconds of the game.

Moon Landing by Nick Salesky 2017-08-14T13:42:37Z

Didn't run on Safari, Chrome was fine (no audio, might be as intended - no score given). Fun take on the obstacle dodger genre. I would have loved some different background star sprites, because first I thought obstacles, then I thought pickups, but nothing happened. The gameplay is fun, with the breaking speeding mechanic to help dodge the spudnik rockets. Also props for using a new tool, it's always great to learn something new!

Sir, we're running out of power! by rongon 2017-08-14T14:03:51Z

This is really great, why are there only 2 ratings? The music is good. The graphics look nice (though a mixture between perspective and flat). The controls felt a bit annoying at times. But overall this is very nice for a Compo entry!

P.S. Ports are allowed after the deadline.

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-14T13:21:08Z

I'm very bad at remembering stuff like this, I keep going in circles, but I liked it anyway. Great sfx, good art, nice mood. Great Job!

Blackout for the new warden by dray 2017-08-17T14:24:26Z

Wow, first try was really hard. Let's try a second one. Second one was much better. This is a really cool entry. While the controls are a bit overwhelming at first, after a while it's just as complicated as a sound mixing panel, just a lot of similar controls. I like how this way of control is much different from the RTS like controls, making it a lot more engaging. This one was really fun!

Buzzy Bee by Estebe 2017-08-14T17:48:52Z

Nice take on the whack a mole genre. It was pretty fast, but that made it enjoyable. Trackpads make it much harder though. Graphics were decent, music would be great. Fit very well together overall.

PoweRL by Steve Johnson 2017-08-17T17:17:40Z

Its a SpriteKit game, nice. This was pretty enjoyable; game play was fun, sounds decent and graphics good. Cheers!

Power Sphere by Sergey Nelga 2017-08-14T23:51:17Z

Slick visuals. Interesting gameplay. A decent entry. After being caught it would be great to reset the enemies as they will instantly kill you being close to the spawn area.

Charge Infinitum by HacksawUnit 2017-08-01T11:57:29Z

Crashes safari (and my computer with it), trying chrome: Interesting art. Imaginative little texts. Dazzling abilities. Fun tradeoffs but hard to predict. Also the single health/ability pool is a bit strategy limiting I feel. (but understandable, I did the same for my entry).

Last Shine by Fran Segura 2017-08-16T23:31:35Z

Such an ambitious project, and very well executed. Graphics and music are very good. I'm really impressed. The gameplay could be improved a bit (the super punch made the game somewhat easy, especially against the boss). But insanely well done anyways!

Captain Quark and the Search For More Power by LordKawaii 2017-08-20T22:00:36Z

I haven't played a Asteroids in years, last time must have been my own entry for LD. This one was much better though. It was hard to see the bullets though. And sometimes I didint respawn on the other side of the viewport. But other than that it's a pretty interesting take on Asteroids.

Battery by s0rax 2017-08-14T14:14:37Z

A decent entry. The graphics, the music both decent. Simple game, but well implemented. Good job!

The Aztec Ancient Language by xotraz 2017-08-17T17:07:21Z

Took me a while to figure out what you meant. But it turned out pretty great, teaching stuff like different semantics and different number systems. Pretty cool. I'm not sure if the sounds add any value though, I would have preferred just a visual indicator. (But you opted out from both graphics and audio, so thats fine)

crab.bot by yadu 2017-08-17T02:04:42Z

Cool game, with a great concept. Im not a real fan of the movement (the theme seems a bit quick fixed into the movement speed) or graphics. But the core gameplay; the defuse puzzles are very nice!

Turn Out by Vovin 2017-08-14T17:38:10Z

I love puzzle game like this. I am not a fan of the fact that the camera is pulled back at times where you cant see the player block. But that something I can live with. Thanks for the fun game!

& by ludonaut 2017-08-17T15:57:11Z

I am not sure what I should do, but I like the colors. Also there is pathfinding, which is nice!

SUBREACH by rumpelcita 2017-08-17T16:46:40Z

Simple yet fun game. I alway fall in love with PICO graphics. The music was decent but got repetitive fast (though the game was short so it's fine)

Cosmic Influx by Bernhard 2017-08-14T15:05:14Z

Nice, and surprisingly small (in kb) game. It was nicely challenging. The graphics fitted together perfectly. A bit more depth in the possibilities would be a nice addition, but its fine as it is as compo entry. Congrats!

Just Another Week by Boriky 2017-08-14T16:17:03Z

Not sure what to add. Looks good, plays good, though some tutorial might come in useful. Good sum up of the millennial life. Just awesome! (Props for having such a large team work together)

Battery of Power by Belga54 2017-08-14T15:43:37Z

Cute art style. Game play was simple but well implemented. Would have liked a bit more changes in gameplay, e.g. different enemy behaviour. But great game nonetheless!

Astro Mining by d3garcia 2017-08-20T17:42:37Z

Game is down. :(

CosmoCows by Gama Croma 2017-08-14T14:47:47Z

Fun, but short game. Decent graphics, slightly smoothed out controls (could have been a bit more floaty maybe). Simple yet well implemented. Moo!

The Last Question by xaedes 2017-08-16T23:23:15Z

Very interesting. I watched this with a free Audiobook I found. ( https://archive.org/details/ISAACASIMOVSTHELASTQUESTION ) Very nice and thank you for shining some light on this story.

P3tr by zulubo 2017-08-01T00:25:33Z

Graphics are awesome, no let me rephrase that, insane in this timeframe! Some controls seem a bit buggy at times. Also I had a black cursor. (I think a fix like that is allowed by the rules). Music was pretty nice too, though the SFX were a bit contrasting it. But I'm really impressed to see how well you master your tools.

Score: Mind==Blown/5

Back Home by Simone 2017-08-15T00:02:13Z

The enemies (and the player) are really cute. Very nice game, though it gets a bit repetitive over time to charge a bit then shoot a lot. But still a very enjoyable game.

Exponential Maintenance Engineer by nintendoeats 2017-08-14T16:28:16Z

Nice physics puzzle game. I would have loved some bigger explosions, but for game play purposes this is much better. Music was just as relaxing as the game play. Overall a very good entry, thanks!

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-08-14T23:32:38Z

I love puzzle games. This one took soem time to figure out and it was pretty great! Graphics are nice, mechanics decent, and the inclusion of level generation awesome! Nice entry!

The Circuit by jchaplin 2017-08-14T17:33:52Z

Simple game. Quite fun. However I I am not a fan of the controls scheme, I would rather use WASD or arrows for this. It gets really frustrating because of it. Other than that it's very decent and definitely a fun one!

V.E.S.T.A.L.E. by kromeboy 2017-08-14T15:48:03Z

Fun concept with a decent implementation. It's always a challenge to keep everyone charged with only one charger or socket. More changes in how you charge would have been fun.

Hungry Sky by edmond00 2017-08-14T16:45:08Z

Wow, a very original concept. Pretty cool as well. The game looks and plays decent. I would have loved some music though. The controls were a bit floaty at times. But overall it is a very great entry.

End of Machina Factory by zanagi 2017-08-14T13:55:03Z

This is really great. A bit heavy on the dialogue, but a pretty good story for a LD. The graphics were great. The gameplay is a bit hard though, and I could only get the bad ending. Oh please get rid of that white noise at the beginning. (The rest of the music is fine.) But a great entry after all!

POW by ProdigalSon 2017-08-07T00:52:44Z

The graphics are great, I love the puzzle mechanics alternated with the speed and awareness challenges. Really great. I do feel that the recall mechanic can be abused to make some levels easier, but this fades in later levels. Really great, and one of the best overall games I have seen so far!

Messy Getaway by RattyBloom40 2017-08-08T19:50:58Z

Pretty fun game. I liked the take on the classic car dodger with the suction twist. Graphics were pretty decent too. The music was fine, but became a bit repetitive.

Titan LD39 Compo by NamInUz 2017-08-01T11:11:29Z

Funny game. Minor things: The controls are a bit hard (I couldn't connect my DS4 controller though on mac could help) When I hit the mech's border I get stuck. No SFX (but you opted out)

The pixel art is pretty good. The gameplay simple but entertaining. Especially the killing part. The idea of dropping down is cool, getting up is kinda hard? (Jumppads, costing power maybe?)

EDIT: Jam version is great improvement! Addresses most problems.

whenurat1percent by LuKenneth 2017-08-17T15:12:48Z

A t/s ext(ing) adventure. If you act like you would normally act you get the girl. It was pretty funny, all endings I found at least. Also I liked how you actually control a hand.

Greg The Robot by marcelo oliveira 2017-08-14T13:31:55Z

The amount of sprites is great! Might have been a bit on the easy side, but that's very welcome after many of those hard LD games. Music was good, especially given the fact that it was a few second loop. The screen just stopped moving, so I assume that's the end?

The Wiz by Michael Feldman 2017-08-14T16:34:32Z

What a weird looking game. I love it. It's very mysterious. The gameplay is decent. The music felt a bit weird at times, but it was generated(?). Great weird entry. Cheers!

Encounters by Valphera 2017-08-14T15:21:08Z

I can't run the Mac version :(

Encounters by Valphera 2017-08-14T23:12:16Z

Great game, top notch graphics, decent music, fun story. Very good for a Game Jam!

Trouble in the mine by Orzak 2017-08-14T15:51:38Z

The sfx are very good in this game. As are the graphics are unique. I like the tradeoffs in this game, which help with your objectives.

Hyper Battery Girl by Deke 2017-08-01T20:43:36Z

I didn't get any sound to work, but others did, so I omitted giving a rating (which should be fine).

Game play is insanely smooth, maybe I had a few instances where it might have dropped my input, but its so fast it's hard to say. I love the artstyle which is also very well executed. To me the energy mechanic feels a bit thrown in though, not really part of the game, and just there to make things even harder. It's super fun! Will play this again.

R2Blue2 by schokoketzer 2017-08-14T14:20:36Z

Ooh, I liked the routing in this game, it's really strict but pretty nice. Sometimes I got stuck on seemingly invisible walls. The music was good and the graphics more than decent. I would have loved more levels, with an easy difficulty curve, and perhaps more mechanics. But it was made in a jam. Cheers!

Number Station by maxr00 2017-08-14T23:18:16Z

I really liked this game. It's simple but unique and enjoyable. Some things were clear to me at first, but I was able to solve them later. Graphics and audio design are really good as well. Congrats!

QRTTNBPBYTROAYALID! by Pip Turner 2017-08-01T16:06:13Z

The chunk design is surprisingly simple yet good. Very nice job there. Music loop doesn't get annoying (which is great for a runner). Jumps can get bit annoying after a while. Decent graphics. Perhaps some more easy routes with less energy to harder/less energy options within chunks. But overal really great! (PS macOS build works great!)

lightpath by bison42 2017-08-17T16:29:36Z

I like how you turned Unity 3D into a DMG-ish color scheme. It made enemies hard to see and rooms hard to navigate though, and the non-intuitve level transitions didn't help me. But when I played more careful the game became pretty cool. I must say that I do really like nostalgia a game like that brings.

Porchlight by Unnar 2017-08-01T20:45:58Z

Moooo? Mooo!

Technically it's a game. So you could have put it as finished, and it wouldn't even be the worst one I played!

Cheers on your first entry!

slime raiders by trabitboy 2017-08-14T12:45:11Z

It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but when I did I found it quite interesting. I like that you have to plan the order in which to turn them into batteries. I did find a few bugs, mainly collision wise. Art was nice, sfx decent. Good job on you first entry!

Planet Wars: Energy Crisis by zaygellard 2017-08-14T17:44:24Z

Such a silly game, It has a one eyed blue planet with an evil looking beak. I love it. The controls are a bit over the top turn wise, making it hard to hit the hook. Also I didn't find any difference in the resources effects, or how to predict what comes from where. I feel the SFX where a bit loud, but the music pretty good. But minor things, very nice overall!

Run Little Robot by realbboy 2017-08-17T17:31:20Z

The controls made the game a bit hard for me, especially wit some small time frames in which you have to traverse some beams. But it was fun nonetheless! Decent graphics, clear damage indicating sounds. Cool!

Which apparently is a very hard and fast way. Or I learned I can't type. Either way Fun game!

Lovely graphics, great stor both creating a great setting. I'm impressed by your story telling skills.

Also one of the options made me think about this (you might already know about it): but there are already quite a few Quantum Computers, you can even use one for free: https://www.research.ibm.com/ibm-q/

PRAY FOR TESLA by slovnoslomo 2017-08-03T14:04:32Z

This is pretty cool. Took a bit to figure it out, but afterwards I found it really addictive. The art is great and feels pretty polished! Great job!

Soul Gun by EX3 2017-08-14T20:38:11Z

Damn this is hard. But very addictive. Graphics and sounds are great too. I would make the curve a bit less steep and introduce some tricks you can do with the combined mechanics. But it's a really great game!

Charger by Valgriz09 2017-08-14T14:39:56Z

Would have loved a bit smoother tutorial level series. But after I got the game I found it really great and challenging. Like it!

Murder on 39th Street by vadinci 2017-08-17T14:58:44Z

Depleting my battery would take hours, if not days, so I used the debug version. Very cool game, lovely graphics, good background music. creating a great mood. The story is really great as well. I'm not a fan of the battery mechanic, though only a few entries came up with actual devices power as a mechanic, I don't feel that the mechanic was used very creatively adding nothing more than the passing of time, scaled by your computers specs. (Though I admit it does romanticise the gameplay a bit). Does this make the game any worse? Not at all. This is a very solid entry. Cheers!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Bubble Blast Cleanup by abductedPlatypus 2024-10-08T10:47:27Z

Ah, I forgot to move it from a draft to public, should be fixed now. Thanks for reporting!

Abyssflier by v1ru6 2024-10-09T17:34:53Z

Very cool to see a swarm like that. We were thinking about something like that but deemed it too risky in the time allotted, so well done there!. The draw distance was a bit confusing though since I didn't know which rod was being attacked. Also sometimes it was unclear if the bullets hit or not (though possibly due to the low travel speed). I do think you can do a lot of cool things with an enemy like that!

Overall I think the game works well!

Tiny Balance by SolidHinken 2024-10-09T17:39:05Z

Had a real laugh out of this one, great spin on the theme! Thanks for this!

Whisker Warrior by Taximan981 2024-10-08T15:56:46Z

Really great graphics!

I did encounter a bug where the slugs were floating mid-air, making it impossible to clear the wave. Likely due to blocking 10 slugs in on go. Screenshot 2024-10-08 174957.png

Would also have liked a bit more variety in enemy behavior.

Spider That Is Stuck In My Pc When I Launch GMOD with 1000 mods by ThatFirey 2024-10-08T16:10:16Z

Really liked the different mechanics. Though I do think I mostly just relied on the thread for jumping and the blobs for shooting, rather than wall climbing, and only used the double jump in when I couldn't make the thread work.

The jump int the last level was pretty hard though, so that took me a couple of tries.

Candy Quest by Lautaro Q 2024-10-09T14:35:19Z

Fun game that felt complete - a lot of content was made in a short amount of time, and definitely immersive! I would have liked a bit more variety in quests, even if simple such as having to do things in an order or some black boxes. Overall a great entry!

7777777 by Zhz 2024-10-09T14:43:24Z

I like the choice for art, animations and music. Getting to exactly 77 77 777 seems a bit hard - I assume that is the goal? (It looks like I can't give an actual rating to this one)

Horseless Headman by SwanBoat 2024-10-11T12:01:43Z

Simple yet fun game. Love the art style. I did have a little trouble with dodging everything from time to time since things quickly moved into the way while I was in mid air, but that can be forgiven in a jam where testing time is limited.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Diner Dive by pebkac 2018-04-28T14:17:24Z

__Fun__ It was a really enjoyable game. I did find a few things I didn't like not being able to get all the orders on screen done on time. (Maybe it's just me being slow but it was just too fast for me.) A raw fish order felt a bit intuitive by having to cook it for a second the serve it. More progression would have been better, but time is never on our side during jams.

__Innovation__ I've seen quite a few cooking games, but never played one. I liked the fact that I had to catch my own fish then cook it. It seems rather new to me.

__Theme__ I guess the genres are fishing and cooking? They work well together so they are not incompatible, and it's not very clear that there are two genres. While I think that it makes for a good game, it doesn't quite work for the theme.

__Graphics__ You opted out for graphics but I'm going to give you some advice if that's okay (if not, continue). I think you have the right ideas, but you could practice a bit more with color compositions, and stay away from 0,0,255-like full colors and match them together a bit. Shape wise I guess it pretty fine and all shapes were really clear. Assuming you made all graphics yourself I'd suggest you don't opt-out of it next time.

__Audio__ The audio was mostly indicative for new orders so I find it hard to rate you here. Sorry.

__Humor__ The idea was actually pretty funny. And for some reason the character looks really silly too. So humor points for you.

__Mood__ The ocean did give me some feel of depth and suffocation. I did feel the lack of connection to the people that ordered food, or a waiter to bring me the list. The latter is a lot of work for a bit of extra mood, so I forgive you.

__Overall__ Overall I think this is an enjoyable entry. It was pretty original to me and a see a lot of room for exploration.

Robocalypse: Xtreme Pool Master by Devastus 2018-04-28T17:49:10Z

__Fun__ Took me a while to get enough control, but when I did I found it quite enjoyable. You added some things in the post-jam version, but I still miss some range indicators that would help placing the balls.

__Innovation__ A new concept that can be fun for quit a bit of time. I also think there is quite a bit of room for exploration, very well done!

__Theme__ The two genres are pretty clear, and not very obvious choices. Nice!

__Graphics__ I love the graphics. Even the pixeley/3D graphics mix very well.

__Audio__ The music and sounds were really well made. Not to intrusive but still memorable.

__Humor__ The most humorous I guess is the enemy animations. But I don't feel this was your main focus so it won't affect my overall score.

__Mood__ The industrial feel worked really well, and it really felt like I was on a remote abandoned re-purposed factory.

__Overall__

Overall I think it's a really good entry!

Robocalypse: Xtreme Pool Master by Devastus 2018-04-28T21:12:30Z

@devastus Sorry, not sure if I was clear then, I meant showing the turret range. I kept placing the player ball outside of their range, leaving me helplessly wait for my death. I'd rather have them balling up around me and let them get one-shotted by the large slow laser. Have you considered that?

Robocalypse: Xtreme Pool Master by Devastus 2018-04-28T21:36:09Z

Mouse over sounds great. Also looking forward to some extra turrets!

The Imaginary Room by abductedPlatypus 2018-04-24T14:47:48Z

Thanks for playing my game! It actually is perspective. But I think there might a bug in the mapping, in addition to the Megaman world not being the best pick for 3D to 2D conversion, because multple objects would have to be on the same spot. But that's a hindsight thing.

The Imaginary Room by abductedPlatypus 2018-04-24T15:53:09Z

Thanks for the comments guys! Appreciated! @Brillie Phan Aww. What is the problem? Sometimes the positioning can be a bit finicky.

The Imaginary Room by abductedPlatypus 2018-04-26T13:32:05Z

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated!

@pebkac that happens when there is no ! highlighted on screen. I guess I could have made that a bit clearer.

Great, thanks!

Wizsnooks by kroltan 2018-04-28T13:54:00Z

__Fun__ The game feels really polished, which make the game already really fun. I have a few comments: the game seems to pick the next level at random. I'd rather learn a map and retry until I finish it. It also helps with progression so I have some easy levels in the beginning. Also the disenchanting doesn't feel very intuitive, and I'd suggest random health drops instead. I guess the best strategy is to do very small shots to get in the perfect place, but I lack the patience for that. My shots often backfired being instantly killed by a dragon because he does twice half a bar of damage, making the game really hard for me, could be the progression issue I pointed out. All very minor things, but I like to point out some areas of improvement. And all entirely explainable by the lack of play test time jam games are bound to have. But other than that I think it was really great, a feel a near perfect score is in place.

__Innovation__ At first I thought it was pretty much how classic rogue-like games work. But it requires a bit more mechanical skill. So I guess I'll have to up that score a bit.

__Theme__ The two genres are very clear, and work decently together. One of the clearest mashups I've seen this LD. Very well chosen.

__Graphics__ The graphics are really great. It's very simple and maybe a bit close to the majority of mobile games. There is a reason for that: the style works extremely well given the effort. The amount of detail pushes this score really far up.

__Audio__ Simple, yet works well. A bit like the graphics. It's really well polished.

__Humor__ It's not really humorous, but more comical. It wouldn't make me LOL but the silliness is appreciated.

__Mood__ It doesn't really move me. So I can't give a very high score for this. But it wouldn't fit the game so it won't affect the overall score.

__Overall__ Extremely well polished and a pretty fun concept. Well done!

The Waiting Room by Rayne 2018-04-28T14:31:34Z

__Fun__ Was I supposed to modify the code to get through this? I suppose not. Sending you an email now feels like cheating so lets not do that. Anyways this is not fun at all. Off all skills I lack patience is probably the one I need the most. I'm also not that good at giving up. The idea however is pretty fun. A medium amount of points will be rewarded.

__Innovation__ Let's see. Waiting is not innovative. Yet teaching people like me how to wait might be. It is skill that will slowly be in contemporary society. Wait. This is not an essay for a philosophy course.

__Theme__ The waiting game + text/sound based? I guess the waiting game is incompatible with everything.

__Audio__ I didn't expect this to be there. Free points for that. The audio was decent, but annoying, as pointed out by the game.

__Humor__ I can't see the humor in waiting. I think. Maybe I do. Unsure. I guess you will have to hack the LD database to find out, just how I was going to hack your game. Not really the same way. Not at all actually. Ah well.

__Mood__ There was definitely emotion. And a long emptiness.

__Overall__ I'm not sure what to think of this. Well played.

Dyeswap by morphine 2018-04-28T19:06:28Z

__Fun__ Why didn't you say you also made a first person puzzle game :D I really enjoyed this. I'm amazed by the amount of levels you were able to make. Also you mechanic is really simple, yet most of the puzzles were really well designed.

__Innovation__ Like most puzzle games, innovation is key, and you nailed it. __Theme__ The theme wasn't obvious to me until the end, they blend really well. __Graphics__ Simple, yet effective.

__Audio__ The music got repetitive to me rather quickly. But annoying, so I guess it's decent. The other effects work well too.

__Mood__ Like with anti-chamber it really felt empty. Which I personally don't like, but it works really well for a game like this.

__Overall__ Yes, this is a really great little puzzler. Well made!

CCC: Cyber City CAB by Yetman 2018-04-28T12:42:11Z

__Fun__ While simple the game is pretty fun. It gave me a bit of the GTA2 vibes from ages ago, so that's really nice. The gameplay was a bit simple though, and I'm not a fan of time limits. The controls felt nice and it worked really well with the shooting. Some upgrades for movement and weapons would have been great; I loved shooting all kinds of stuff and placing mines in GTA2. But I assume GTA wasn't build in a weekend, so maybe I'm asking a lot here.

__Innovation__ I didn't really see any innovative things. Though bringing back retro genres with modern technology might be considered innovation nowadays.

__Theme__ Like you already mentioned, it not really incompatible, and it feels like a single genre to me. Which is fine, but not a perfect score. Sorry.

__Graphics__ I liked the perspective wall graphics. Though I wouldn't have gone with a pixel style car. But it worked well enough. The overall aesthetic worked really well as a cyber punk-ey city.

__Audio__ I liked the music a lot, it fits the overall aesthetic well. But I'm not sure it matches the action of the game well. I'm not sure if you can make it more upbeat and still match the rest of aesthetic though. And I guess modern media does like to go with less upbeat music for action scenes, so I won't be too harsh. The bit-ey effects were well selected but got a bit repetitive after a while.

__Mood__ This is what I liked a lot. It felt a bit like tron, which does this really well, and might even be the one thing to introduce this style to the major public.

__Overall__ I think that overall it is very polished, not to ambitious, but that entirely cool during a jam. I guess a few untested extra things might hurt it more than improve it. Well done!

Rockin' Horse by niterich 2018-04-28T17:31:39Z

__Fun__ I love Mario kart like games. I'm impressed you were able to pull it off in a compo entry. I didn't see any two genres until I looked it up, so it would be great to have some visual feedback on the actual beats with some short explanation. While I would love to have some AI opponents, that is not somethign to expect in a game jam.

__Innovation__ It felt mainly like a mario kart game, which has been done a couple of times already. Also the tapping mechanic isn't new, iirc it was in the wii Mario Kart, just not on the music beat.

__Theme__ It's a pretty good combination of rythm and racing games. Well done!

__Graphics__ The graphics aren't top notch. But it's pretty big. I know that is really hard to pull off in a few hours. So I won't that harsh on the quality, but rather praise for your quantity.

__Audio__ I liked the catchy melody. It's really good. I'm not a fan of the instruments you picked, which is best used for pixel-ey game in my opinion. But the melody weighs in heavier here because good instruments are hard to come by.

__Mood__ The world felt a bit empty to me, again I won't be too harsh because I know it's pretty hard to get this right on such a big 3D world.

__Overall__ Overall I'm impressed by the size of the world you made. Very well done!

Dungeon Exploder by wizard sino 2018-04-28T18:25:19Z

__Fun__ I really enjoyed this one. To the point that after dying right before the end (as I found out later) I redid everything. That was really annoying though to redo the entire game after dying. (Dying is also a bit too hard oddly enough.) The amount of enemies was really great, and the amount of hasty bugs I encountered was really low.

__Innovation__ Most innovation was from the graphics I think, which I have seen before, but not too often. More on that later. Also the story, more on that at humor.

__Theme__ We have a winner. Someone who actually showed how to genres are incompatible. This is what I was looking for.

__Graphics__ I love this style. Why is this so rare. Also does the Unity WebGL player support this many cubes? Nice!

__Audio__ Music and effects were pretty decent. But the voice, while low in quality was really awesome, and very rare for a LD entry.

__Humor__ I really liked how there was a comment on everything. X this X that. And the actual effects of X spawning an evil enemy when killing the potion, really nice.

__Mood__ The mood was really nice, and the transition between Astroids and Zelda(?) felt really great.

__Overall__ Very well done. I don't have much to add.

Farmer's Delight: A Twin-Stalk Shooter by Dovakla 2018-04-28T13:24:19Z

__Fun__ The mechanics in this game are ridiculous, and that's great. "Quick we have to harvest!" "Why? Its mid-summer!" "The plants are turning into zombies!" There's a lot of content, and I really mean a TON. But it could have a lot of polish on a lot of things. A few are: Normalize the player movement, right now when I go diagonal I go about 1.41 times faster than otherwise. A bit more animations would be great. That being said, this level of unpolishedness does really add to the ridiculousness of it, which is most of the fun of the game anyways. Good fun that is.

__Innovation__ Is this new? I guess it is, it's not a very large leap though. Is it an improvement? Not with this level of polish. For me at least. But it was definitely different from most similar things and I try to be objective so I guess a decent score is in place.

__Theme__ I'm not sure if this is really two incompatible themes. It could very well be a much faster Stardew Valley with guns where your crops turn into enemies. But maybe Stardew Valley also uses two themes. So I guess you did all right here too.

__Graphics__ I'm not a fan of the graphics. You did use a lot of material tricks that make it look more interesting, but I dare say you are not a professional graphics artist. Then again, it matches the ridiculousness of it.

__Humor__ I have to admit, actual LOLs were lolled. This is insane.

__Mood__ It didn't really strike an emotional thing with me. I feel a bit more polish is needed for that. Sorry.

__Overall__ I think you did a really great job at getting a ton of content out there. Amount-of-content-wise this is extremely impressive. It did cost a lot of polishing tine though, but you pulled it off by just making everything insane. Overall it is really decent, and I spent waaaaay more time than I though I would at first.

00Boyfriend - A Spy's Dating Sim by SamStallion 2018-04-28T14:52:45Z

__Fun__ The amount of of polish is great. There is also a ton of content (besides the limited responses the lover interest seems to have). The game feels really well. The only problem is my multi-tasking skills.

__Innovation__ The platforming gameplay is pretty basic, and the dialogue is rather repeating. So alone it's not really innovative. However the fact that I have to multitask between these two things is. Besides real life, of course. But that's not a game, is it?

__Theme__ Clearly incompatible. The government even warns us not to text while we're shooting bad guys.

__Graphics__ Really great graphics. The aesthetic is also very well, and it fits perfectly.

__Audio__ Same for as for the graphics. Well made, and fits the aesthetic perfectly.

__Humor__ The concept itself is fun enough, we add some silly responses and it LOLs will be lolled.

__Mood__ Well developed. I could echo what I said in theme and graphics but I won't.

__Overall__ The only real downside is the lack of interesting responses on the phone. Otherwise it's pretty close to a perfect score. Very well done.
