Overall pretty fun experience with this game. I thought the intro scene was funny and a nice touch. The draining energy bar really kept the game moving. Took about 3 tries to get the hang of how to progress. The art was funny and I enjoyed the massive nuclear arms. I liked the addition of multiple weapons and destructible portions of the map was enjoyable too. The animations weren't amazing but they still got the job done. Overall pretty funny and enjoyable game.

A really solid game , I enjoyed the art quite a bit and thought the opening and ending scenes were really good~ combat felt good and there was a large variety of weapons which was a big plus as you weren't shooting with the same weapon 24/7.

The only really comments I could make is maybe add some sort of collectible or currency like coins or something? Or maybe have ammo deplete? Also the enemy pathfinding was sometimes a little strange or they would just fall on top of you.

Apart from this I'd say the game is well rounded and solid , good job!

I thought it was funny, especially as those barrels started to chase me around because the bears moved them so much. I beat the game and liked the idea for the final "boss". Overall humor and that energy bar made this game. +1

Pretty good game! I like the art style and the intro. The enemies are quite strong and shooting was tricky at first since I'm using the mouse. I liked the rotating arms, pretty funny! The destructible levels were cool too. At first I thought that I should use the barrel as a platform to jump over the wall. It took me a couple of times before I realized that I had to shoot it. Great game for this jam!

Craig Killbane's one weakness.... Stairs. But obviously he skipped leg day, so it's no wonder he can't get up those stairs. Lol Awesome game. Probably the most fun I've had out of all the games I've played today. Thanks! Loved the story, the ninja bears that fell randomly from the sky, the fact that I was still moving and killing bears after my death. Just awesome. lol Sometimes the lack of polish is the best part of LD games. Good work here. Honestly, with such a big team I expected a bit more polish and maybe some better art, but I think it added to the charm, so no points taken off for that. Hope to see you next time around!

Funny intro:) Except for the stairs, the game felt solid!

(Kinda random: the brown bears looked reeally nice)

xel 2017-08-03 04:53

Those foolish bears had no idea who they were messing with. Fun game, enjoyed the over the top plot and the design of the main character. The destructible environment was also a nice touch. The controls felt a little sticky but that hardly outweighs the awesomeness that is Craig Killbane.

Managed to get stuck in the very beginning by jumping on the barrel and it moving away before I shot it. I liked the music, and the A+ pun. Funny stuff.

I love the nuclear Chuck Norris style, the gameplay works well with the mouse aiming. Well done

finlal 2017-08-03 12:24

Ahahaha Wery funny game) Simple but fun. Bit laggy in browser and game resolution is TOO big even for 1080 screen.

duzzondrums 2017-08-03 12:29

I've played some amazing LD games so far, but this is legit the most fun i've had. Nothing mindblowingly innovative gameplay-wise, just shootin' some bears with me nuclear arms. I've gotta go play the previous games now!

toonteamj 2017-08-03 15:11

The gameplay was good, but I didn't figure out what happens when you don't collect the nuclear waste. The bears dropping from the sky made the game very challenging.

shaolin-dave 2017-08-03 15:28

Humor was great. I totally got that "Silver Surfer" reference when you die.

chaoseed 2017-08-05 00:42

Bizarre but fun! I like that you came up with an idea and really went for it. The graphics had a lot of character; I especially loved the huge arms swiveling around the guy's shoulders. The sound fit pretty well...The gameplay was a bit weird; I feel like it was laggy, maybe. Of course, I was playing in the browser, and the game size was almost too high. Even with that, though, I'm still puzzled as to why he was always jumping; not sure if that's even a bug or not. Still, the gameplay was solid enough.

lereveur 2017-08-05 20:58

Way to big to play in my browser, so I had to download it. And I can see that it is way to hard for me ha ha, but still I can see it's a good game. Well done :)

ikiste3d 2017-08-06 23:14

Loved this one. It's fun and it's weird and I think you should get it to be even weirder. The bears would push the missile launchers towards me sometimes and it could get a little chaotic and I ended up dying because it took too long for nuclear energy to appear, but I really liked it.

wabble 2017-08-07 02:24

Haha pretty goofy, music was cool, It was fun shooting the bears ^^, the destructable terrain was very cool and the art for the weapons player and bears as well. An enjoyable game :)

Sorry for duplicates, site was bugging out

frankiesmileshow 2017-08-07 03:10

The actual levels looked a bit rough, but the play was a lot of hectic run and gun fun, and the cutscenes were great!

bmacintosh 2017-08-07 04:36

I really like the enemy (bear?) art and animations. There's a lot of content here, too, which is awesome. There were some level design problems. I failed to move out of the first screen for a long time because I was trying to jump on the barrel to jump over the wall and progress, except the movement controls do very funny things when you're standing on the barrel, and you can't jump. I eventually ended up shooting the barrel accidentally, but it was too far from the wall, so I got permanently stuck.

joebeard 2017-08-07 06:48

That was spectacularly fun and hilarious, especially those reversing nuclear arms.

kiirohanabi 2017-08-07 17:04

An interesting game, and apparently a sequel! 3D bears are fun to watch and music is good. The idea is simple but executed! The question is: why doesn't he use his arms if they're nuclear? :D

elmismopancho 2017-08-08 01:27

Well, I couldn't jump over the first wall. I tried standing over the barrel, but I couldn't jump (I've seen collision problems like this on other Unity games). Then I tried to break the wall shooting at it, but I wasted all my energy just making a small hole, and I died. Would buy again (?)

inappropriatename 2017-08-08 03:14

Im not entirely sure what happened, i was running, there were things and there was explosions. it was awesome xD really enjoyed the complete chaos in the game!

pilly 2017-08-08 04:35

Hahaha, this was awesome. I love the concept of a recurring character / making your jam games a series. I was smiling all throughout playing this - it's just awesome goofy fun. The fun is not to be understated - I like the progression of obstacles / enemies, it was well balanced, and the touches like destructible terrain make it an overall satisfying game. Felt like I never knew what was ahead, but it was always surprising and hilarious. Can't get over those bears trying to punch me.

Only suggestions would be to make the slopes climbable (rather than hopping over tiny blocks), and the visual style more consistent - sometimes it was cartoony, other times it was just a solid texture. But overall, very nice work! I look forward to Nuclear Arms 5 :)

piscythe 2017-08-08 04:50

I love the premise here. The gameplay is mostly solid as well, though the jumping felt kinda floaty and enemies sometimes fell from the sky and landed on me. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the rocket launcher after several switches between the rifle and shotgun. The soundtrack and storyboards were cool, but I have some reservations about the art style. Destructible terrain is cool and many of the individual graphics looked good, but the game's art lacked a sense of cohesion. The 'boss' was cool, but gameplay-wise simply amounted to a swarm of normal enemies. I really liked the implementation of energy here - it both added time pressure and encouraged judicious use of specials without being stressful. The enemy variety, special attacks, and destructible terrain made for solid gameplay. Well done!

phantom-lab 2017-08-08 05:15

Lovely game! I really love the overall theme and mood of it - and I love the humor! **[mild applause]**

MELTDOWN, baby! I have not played the prior entries, but I knew I was going to like this game from the very first screen of the story. I was just afraid the craziness was going to be lacking in the actual gameplay, but NO NEED TO WORRY.

Yeah, sure, this game had some rough edges, but who fucking cares? They almost enhanced the experience. I mean, you play some heavy metal and give me a shotgun, then you put a barrel in front of me. It's not like I'm going to try to jump over it like some plumber, I know what's going on here. Who cares if my jump is floaty or I turn invisible when I'm about to die, or the game stutters and locks up momentarily when the action gets a little too hot? Stairs a little wonky for ya? Well good news - the jump button checks for the key being down, not an actual press, so you can just hold the bad boy down the entire way up.

And let's not overlook that the most important things were covered: I knew when I got hit, every time. And the explosions blew up the ground. And there were ZERO infinite pits (that I saw).

I appreciated that the game was hard enough that it mattered when I made mistakes. I tried to just la-dee-da strut my way through this game but those goddamn flying pewpew eyes made my life hell. After surfing the silver three or four times I decided well then I shall stepwise advance and carefully blast each and every enemy. Yeah well that's why they have the nuclear meter, and did I mention that BEAR FROM BEHIND?

So I was forced into the hectic fray.

The boss was HUGE, and at first I thought his offense was a little underwhelming, then I realized his most potent ability: his sprite layer is set higher than the flying eyes so he makes them invisible!

I mean, I guess you could get that nerd from Shadow G to look into the performance issues, it wouldn't hurt to NOT have the game get lockjaw randomly and have big loading screens, but honestly all the splinters just made it feel more like raw underground DIY punk rock.

Excellent work.

That was a fantastic review @pkenny. Highlighting the greatness but also the issues with our game at the same time. I only wish my reviews were as good as yours

mindfungus 2017-08-11 16:44

Top marks for humour! I enjoyed the silly intro sequence, characters and sound effects. There's a real charm to its presentation and I found the gameplay fun and chaotic.

A few small critiques: Visually, I find the ground and background do not contrast enough making it hard to tell them apart some times. Some of then explosion sound effects played too loud - maybe they were stacked on each other. Also when I died there was an amount of time where I was still moving around as an invisible character.

Great job!

hav24 2017-08-13 18:48

Good job! I liked the graphics and the animations of weapons! The gameplay is also good and i liked the intro! Keep up the good work! :)

abductedplatypus 2017-08-14 18:05

Oooh, this game is really fun. The level design is great, and it even has destroyable terrain. Very nice. The game got very slow in the end though.

tapestry 2017-08-18 18:19

This was really fun. The enemy trampling sound made me feel like I was playing Serious Sam! Wish there were more levels, great job on your entry nonetheless!

MELTDOWN!!!
