LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

A.R.B.F. by Zanzlanz 2015-04-24T05:56:00

Wow, this was great! Love that you didn't explicitly tell players that it was possible to double/wall jump, but let us figure it out based on the design of the level. On my second play through (I died on the first), I didn't realize that that the weapons were different, since I skipped the opening sequence - so perhaps there's a way to make that more obvious.

Fantastic sprite & audio work!

Postman Ninja by Nikteddy92 2015-04-25T22:48:00

Love the origami mechanic - pressing the correct key combo in the limited time was really fun, and the satisfying key press sounds made for a really nice player experience. Would be nice to incorporate that into the game somehow, instead of having it be a separate menu - maybe having time slow down but still being able to see the main game.

Not sure if this is supposed to happen, but if you destroy the car, it doesn't come back and you can just stay in the bottom lane.

Really nice pixel art and music too. Great job!

Home by Sakuyan 2015-04-25T20:48:00

ADORABLE. The art is amazing, love the character designs, as well as the detail of the starting & finishing screens - nice touch. Gameplay is nice, simple from start to finish.

My main suggestion is to replace the spikes with something else - they're somewhat generic - plus, I hate to think what happens when those cute little characters get impaled.

Nice work!

Ay Pinatas! by jprogman 2015-04-26T21:32:00

I liked the uncertainty of whether or not a pinata ball would attack you - made me cautiously approach each one. Kind of reminded me of the Armos enemy from Zelda. It's a good, balanced experience too - just the right amount of checkpoints, and nice that the balls stay dead.

I liked the pixel art, but I wasn't quite sure what the environment was supposed to be. Also, the coins seemed unnecessary.

I enjoyed playing this, would love to see it with some audio. Nice work!

Aquatic Regia by swinestudios 2015-04-26T04:41:00

Nice atmosphere, I liked the blue tones and chill music - definitely made me want to explore the mysterious ocean depths.

Weapon was nice - certainly unconventional in that it didn't damage anything, but rather pushed enemies away. Makes me want a future LD theme to be something like "enemies can't die".

I feel like the objective could be more interesting than "collect the treasures", but I'm not sure what that would be.

Nice work!

Carroty Wars by lurils 2015-04-24T06:34:00

Music would have added a lot to this game - but the art was fantastic, I'd love to see more of this rabbit character.

It's a bit difficult to collect the carrots, seems like they're always located in a cloud of bullets. I played through a few times, but wasn't patient enough to fill the meter up all the way.

Pretty fun, the art is what makes it.

World War piZZa by LoneStranger 2015-04-24T03:44:00

Loved the idea of frantically putting together pizza ingredients to beat the correct type of zombie, creates a fun sense of urgency.

Wish there'd been a way to look at the recipes while the game was actually going on.

After Glow by AmyDee 2015-04-25T23:05:00

Really nice. Even if there's not much gameplay, it's still an impressive amount of content for 48 hours. The art and music came together really nicely - great atmosphere, definitely the type of environment you want to explore and get lost in.

I felt that the outside part was the strongest (because of the aforementioned exploration / getting lost feeling), so I hope it will be more expansive if you end up finishing it.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Sam On Tape by fluidvolt 2015-04-24T03:57:00

Short and polished. I love the little details and how they relate to the music (moving of the stage, weapon shooting at the perfect rhythm). The combat was pretty basic, so if you were to spend more time working on this, you could improve that (add a dodge mechanic? Improve AI?).

Nice work!

Golf Heist by BluShine 2015-04-26T05:18:00

Well done, this was very nice! Felt like a complete game - music was there, mechanic was solid, and there was a beginning/end. Definitely not your average golf game - much more fun! I love the absurdity of it - pulling off heists by putting golf balls at security guards? Amazing.

I got a little impatient waiting to putt again after hitting the ball, but I can't think of any way to avoid that, except maybe speeding things up. Also, keeping track of how many times you've hit the ball would be nice.

Overall, great entry.

Forest Of Hamelin by LinusPrime 2015-04-26T04:54:00

I think there's an issue with the Mac version - in round 0, after the time ran out, it just kept counting down into negatives and there didn't seem to be any way to advance. I'll hold off on rating for now.

Feed The Birds by Gunzil 2015-04-28T05:34:00

Very nice use of the theme! As others have mentioned, the controls took a little while to figure out, but once I got the hang of it, I found reaching down and flinging the bread to be very satisfying.

Nice consistent graphic style as well - I like the abstract buildings, but they feel a little awkwardly spaced. I'd like to see a more complete city, or perhaps a different locale (duck pond?).

This was fun to play, and I felt like the style/animations/music/sound all meshed together quite nicely.

Dental Desperados by biscuitdough 2015-04-25T23:17:00

Pretty damn hilarious. Possibly the best use of the theme I've seen so far. The AI seemed to be at a perfect level - it felt like it was just flopping around in my general direction, which was pretty much exactly what I was doing.

Only criticism is that the biting could be improved - it felt like the characters were getting knocked in the teeth, rather than being the ones attacking.

Great work!

Bears and Bees by Harley77 2015-04-26T05:27:00

The concept of "bear that shoots bees out of its mouth" made it for me. Also the Monsanto backstory was pretty hilarious.

For a while, I thought the game took place on one screen, didn't realize it scrolled and there was actually an end. Maybe you could add an arrow pointing right that flashes on the screen for a few seconds.

Rabbitville by Pilly 2015-04-28T04:18:00

Thank you all so much for the feedback - this is my first Ludum Dare, and really, the first game that I've released. It's immensely helpful to get feedback, so thank you for sharing your experiences, compliments, and frustrations. I'm considering polishing this up and releasing it as a short game.

I'm sorry about the timer cutting off dialog - this is something that I realized late in the development cycle, and absolutely should have prioritized finding a solution to. Lesson learned.

Beacon by SayHiBen 2015-04-25T20:39:00

Beautiful art, the creatures look like they came straight out of an animated film.

I tried the third maze numerous times, but gave up eventually - it just seemed too big and was hard to tell whether I was making any progress. Also, I found that it was too dark much of the time, so maybe instead of light fading in a linear way, it could be exponential...or something like that.

Loved the mood, I felt like I was exploring something magical and mysterious. Great work!

T.M.I. Survey by EricJohnE 2015-04-24T06:15:00

I liked it, different from what I've typically seen from Twine! Goes to show how versatile it is.

I think the story elements (i.e. US-Canada war) should either be more closely tied to the survey, or cut completely - they felt a bit disconnected.

Humor was great (I definitely laughed), outbound links were clever and well-chosen.

Ghost Prosecutor: Closing Statement by awestsecurity 2015-04-25T22:13:00

Nice work, especially on the art/animations. Love the comical look of the characters and the detail you put into the courtroom.

Even though the combos made winning relatively easy (once you figure them out), they were fun to pull off - I played it again after winning to try the rest of them. The shaking/reaction of the jury when under attack made combos very satisfying.

The hammers didn't really seem to do much, but the movement was nicer than just having a static backdrop.

Great job!

A Worthy Hero by HayBee05 2015-04-25T21:08:00

Fun experience! Nice choice of music, it worked well with the graphics/art/time period. The talking weapons were certainly unconventional, and the dialogue between them was quite funny.

I liked the visual novel format, and appreciated the fast transitions - encouraged me to play through a second time. The choices were blocking the characters faces sometimes, so maybe those could be moved lower. No other criticism, really. Nice work!

Ants by cgmorton 2015-04-28T05:06:00

My sandwich...

Simple graphics, but surprisingly deep gameplay. I found myself playing for at least 20 minutes, stopping at level 9.

Simulation games tend to be too complex a lot of the time, but I really appreciated the simplicity of this one. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but I liked the trial/error process and figuring out what worked best.

Can't really think of anything I'd change, other than sprucing up the graphics a bit.

I really enjoyed this, thank you!

Playtime by Scapegote 2015-04-25T05:14:00

Was pretty fun, the limited radius made for an interesting challenge, although it was too difficult due to the large amount of enemies. Seems like the type of game that could benefit from more power ups / events happening.

Also, I kept on accidentally clicking off the screen and making the window lose focus, so maybe consider adding a border or fullscreen mode.

Nice work.

HARDWIRED by SonderWorks 2015-04-25T03:30:00

I got to the room with the ping pong tables, but gave up after I got caught by a guard in there. Checkpoints would've been nice - I mostly stopped playing because I got discouraged after having to go back to the beginning.

I actually liked that you could get guards stuck in the walls, I tried to do that to all of them when I figured that out. You could make a game out of that mechanic alone.

Graphics & sound gave off a really creepy vibe, nicely done. Nice technical work as well, the trip wire seems like something that would be difficult to pull off, so kudos.

Copycat by Terry 2015-04-25T04:35:00

I got to what I *think* is the mimc crystal (after stuff changed) but I couldn't figure out how to destroy it and ended up dying. Still, the game will be on my mind, and I'm sure I'll come back to it.

The "dying" sound effect really started to grate on me after I died a few times in a row, but that contributes to the old school feel. After I got the hang of things, the game kind of turned into "kill everything until you may or may not be killed by the gun" - I actually didn't find the gun to be too much fun to use, but I loved the variety and mechanics of the other weapons.

Overall, really nice balance of weapons, clever mechanics, and addicting gameplay. Though a bit frustrating, I'll definitely come back to it.

Blackbird by aeveis 2015-04-25T03:08:00

Nice work! Beautiful pixel art and animations - makes jumping have a really nice feel to it. At first I thought the energy orbs were just decorative, but after some confused jumping around, I actually read the description.

The back/forth of the bird and waiting for orbs did make it a little tedious - but not so much that I stopped playing - I still wanted to get all 14 platforms. The ending made me smile. Would love to see more of this character and their bird companion.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Delivery! by the31 2015-08-26T03:45:00

The physics were super frustrating - but in a hilarious way. Loved the cat as well.

Galaxy Hop by AntonyBaasan 2015-08-25T06:01:00

This was fun! Great attention to detail and polish - initial camera work helped set the mood, and the power meter / arrows made for a satisfying experience. After trying out the "move" action once, I ended up just going with "attack" for the remainder of the game :)

Tiniest Assassin by biscuitdough 2015-08-26T03:57:00

Ha, loved the hands trying to swat you, but didn't feel like there was much of a strategic way to avoid them. I laughed once I figured out what to do.

Redemption by Mikhail 2015-08-25T05:50:00

Couldn't run it on Mac, just got a white screen :(

Tentacle Blockade by mahalis 2015-08-27T02:11:00

This is great. Top marks on innovation, for sure - loved the core mechanic. One suggestion would be to add a fullscreen mode - I kept on accidentally clicking off the screen. Also, I felt like the labels, while humorous, didn't really fit with the mood of the game. Everything else fit together perfectly though - LOVE the map aesthetic, graphics were great, and the music made me feel like I was a monster terrorizing the seas :) Thanks for making this.

King Mean's Mean Streak by purenickery 2015-08-27T03:04:00

I enjoyed this, though I didn't finish the whole thing - wasn't quite sure where to go after getting the wizard hat. Graphics and music were great - I loved King Mean's facial expression. Pacing could be improved - there was definitely an impressive amount of content, but it felt too spread out. Great use of the theme and atmosphere, I enjoyed wandering around the world you guys built.

Blockluster by TheLocust 2015-08-25T05:37:00

Enjoyed the music, and the fast movement made for a fun experience. Only complaint is having to wait a few seconds for the restart.

Lardum by Grahhhhh 2015-08-26T05:01:00

Innovative use of storytelling and allowing the player to influence the story, well done! Secret mode is definitely worth it, though it took me 3 rounds of staring at the clue to figure it out (but then I kicked myself for not figuring it out sooner).

A Fox's Journey by Pusty 2015-08-26T04:30:00

Worked for me on Mac OS X. Great art style, and impressive amount of content for 48 hours. With the unforgiving combat, I was a bit insulted by the "stop dying" messages...but maybe I'm just sensitive ;) I hated the feather ability at first, but in the end it became my favorite, once I figured out its advantages. Cool game.

All work and no play by wijnen 2015-08-27T03:15:00

Ahh, keyboard controls not working for me either (tried Chrome and Firefox on a Mac). I'll check back later.

Monster Tinder by Monkokio 2015-08-25T05:46:00

Loved the randomly generated monsters! Some of the results were hilarious (props to the artists), and there were enough combinations to make swiping interesting. Would love to see an expanded version of this, maybe with some simple background music or ambient noise for some added engagement.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

UPSQUID by 01010111 2015-12-19T19:43:00

Wow! I really can't state how much I enjoyed this. Super polished, lovely mood / music / graphics. Downwell is a great place to take inspiration from :) but you definitely put your own spin on it. My favorite thus far.

Nomads by Solifuge 2015-12-20T18:19:00

Wonderful game. Control over what happens is minimal, which left me with nothing to do but wait and hope for some luck. I think that perfectly embodies what a survival game should be.

I liked the character silhouettes, lack of dialogue, etc. - it allowed me to make the story my own. Sound effects were exactly what they needed to be. In the end, 3 of us survived. Thanks for making this, and for the experience.

Void by bakudas 2015-12-19T22:55:00

I actually liked the delay, it was unexpected and made me think more carefully about timing, which I liked. Unfortunately, the rotation stopped working after I grew bigger, which made it difficult to control.

Love the style and mood - and points for the sound effects, you game shows how important good sound effects can be. Nice work!

Also, consider linking to this page from your itch.io page - I found your game via the itch app and had to google it to leave a rating :)

Slime Smasher by Anachron 2015-12-20T21:15:00

The only Ludum Dare game that's ever left me out of breath. Mostly from me laughing at myself furiously mashing buttons with that ridiculous music playing in the background. Well done :)

Candy House by vitorlanna 2015-12-22T07:13:00

Beautiful artwork, and nice overall atmosphere. I was able to avoid all the guards relatively easily.

Wasn't able to view the credits on Mac, unfortunately - it caused the game to freeze.

SEED by sputnik 2015-12-20T00:21:00

Great entry! Played till the end. Very impressive that you had time to make - let alone test - all the levels in the span of 48 hours.

Fantastic level design - though it does seem to take a sudden hike in difficulty around level 17 or 18. Not complaining, though - it's one of the few puzzle games where you really have to think about your actions, rather than just "keep trying random things till you solve it".

Kudos for the graphics / audio too - simple but effective in establishing an underwater puzzle-y mood :)

La forêt by Supr 2015-12-19T19:33:00

Really liked this one overall. Great sound effects - loved how they changed as things started growing, and how the overwhelming visual & sound effects were followed by silence and nothingness (guessing that was intentional, but I liked it either way).

Trimmer Tycoon by Oski 2015-12-20T17:32:00

This was great! Innovative mechanic and loved the use of the "growth" theme. This would make a fantastic mobile game, would love to see it there some day!

Speed Sid by tribrain 2015-12-19T20:01:00

Nice little game. I felt the graphics and music went together quite well, and really established the mood. The level design felt a bit repetitive, but I found myself playing till the end since I liked the music so much.

Kimmirut Chasm by Max Amaden 2015-12-19T23:16:00

Haven't read Lovecraft, but definitely enjoyed this.

I can't really put my finger on why, but I really loved your illustrations. Simple but conveyed the mood very well.

One small thing that I feel would really improve the mood: consider changing the background/text color. I feel like a dark background color (especially during the "descent" part) would really add to the sense of immersion.

White Rose by Kenneth Ng 2015-12-19T22:41:00

Cathartic. A fun, satisfying experience overall. I think music is one of the most important parts of a game, and the music and gameplay in your team's game went together perfectly. Memorable and well done.

LD35 — Shapeshift

The ShapeShifter by S0rax 2016-05-09T04:07:00

Great idea, definitely has potential :)

I liked the graphics and felt that the music did a good job of setting the mood. Gameplay was interesting (in a good way), but I felt like the walls were a bit too hard to avoid. Nice work.

Ygramul by MdotEdot 2016-05-10T00:09:00

Lovely, lovely art style. Love the animations, separation of "pixels", and particle effects. Overall intriguing and beautiful.

Worm shifter by mde 2016-05-09T05:09:00

Wouldn't start up on Mac, unfortunately :( Tried opening the jar and got a "could not be launched" message.

Shape/Shift by yuigoto 2016-05-09T22:48:00

I really liked this! Polished, satisfying, and some sweet tunes. I got my best score by constantly clicking and aiming for the big groups, since there didn't seem to be a penalty for clicking on non-matches. Which felt a bit random, but it was still a lot of fun!

Elegant Flamingo by georgebatch 2016-05-09T04:22:00

THIS IS AMAZING.

I put on some upbeat chiptune music and pretended it was a dancing flamingo rhythm game.

Innovative and stylish, props for doing this in 7 hours.

Shapescape by AlexLamarche 2016-05-09T23:11:00

I liked it! Calming, as another reviewer said. I couldn't see the countdown timer (not sure if I was supposed to), but I kinda liked that.

I Don't Trust This Food, Man by Jack_SGS 2016-05-09T04:41:00

I've never laughed so hard at a Ludum Dare game before. Simple starting the game was a hilariously unexpected and delightful experience. Love the overall style!

Color 'n' Shapeshift by dfb98 2016-05-09T04:12:00

Thanks to the random sound effects, I ended up hearing something kinda musical that sounded like "Ode to Joy", haha.

Fun game overall, nice visual style.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Planet Nanadoo: Quest for the Powered Fruit by MrTroy 2017-08-07T05:44:42Z

Cool game, I like the blocky visual style and the light emanating from the center of the level. Made it feel very much like a home base and gave warning that the darkness may contain danger. My only complaint was that it wasn't clear if there was a win condition - and if there was, if dying acted as a reset / started things over.

The combat was fun - I felt the enemies were the perfect speed & it made for some tense situations. There were times I'd turn around and face the enemy (after running away) in an attempt to shoot them - only to discover I was just a bit off. I would then have to run away again. Thrilling! Nicely done, haha.

Winding Woods by tybantarnusa 2017-08-08T05:40:42Z

Had to play this after you mentioned our games were similar. What a cool game! The woods changing layout was seamless, there were times I'd turn around and be faced with a wall of trees where previously there were none, and empty space where there had been trees. Very well executed, and contributed to the ominous atmosphere. Also felt like there wasn't much backtracking / wandering areas I'd been previously, even with my bad sense of direction. Kudos, if that was intentional. I feel like some more sound effects would really solidify the mood of this game, ambient forest noises or something. But great job for your first 3D game, and still managing to create a consistent visual style - and great interpretation of the theme!

Sunpoint Salvage by Mike Cullingham 2017-08-07T05:46:58Z

Tried on Mac and only got the message "Unable to find game!!". Oh no! Haven't rated this one, but will come back to it if I remember!

bzzt bzzt by Tymus 2017-08-06T19:46:54Z

I'd love to see more levels, but very impressive given the time you put into it. Controls felt good, visual style was consistent, and the electrified ground was a nice touch. A fun and thrilling experience!

Batterycorp by Aurel300 2017-08-06T20:15:26Z

Outstanding entry. I was so close to getting the good ending the first time, but missed something obvious - thank you for letting me go back and find it! This was incredibly polished and a joy to play - nice puzzles, great sense of humor, and unique, consistent style. Everything was clearly laid out / explained, so no frustrations. Thank you!

The Trash Bin That Could by mathijs750 2017-08-06T20:51:23Z

Loved the ending, that was hilarious. Pacing/movement were a bit slow, but levels were interesting and cameras/buttons were well-placed. For some reason, the player camera would freak out/move at certain points, starting right after I went through the first elevator. But it usually stopped if I just moved a bit. I enjoyed the experience overall, nicely done!

Invaders From The Next Planet Over! by SimplePotential 2017-08-06T01:19:01Z

I like the left cannon / right cannon concept, makes it much more interesting to think about than if there were only one cannon. Aiming was difficult at first but I got used to shooting a little ahead of the enemies, and managed to get the hang of it. Some more variation in sound and graphics would've been nice, but for the rest, nice game!

One note:I saw in the description that there was music, but didn't hear any music (HTML5 version, & did hear sound effects), so will refrain on rating audio for now.

Tiny Sub Mission by Meta-link 2017-08-06T22:16:25Z

Cool game, I enjoyed the concept and atmosphere - though music would've gone a long way. Starting back at the beginning was a bit frustrating, but it made me think carefully about my moves & try to move to the very edge of the sphere. I really enjoyed the graphics, camera work, and particle effects - they fit the game very well, and made the feeling of launching yourself to the next waypoint satisfying & exciting. Nice work!

Nuclear Arms 4: Fallout of The Mountain King by Logicon211 2017-08-08T04:35:45Z

Hahaha, this was awesome. I love the concept of a recurring character / making your jam games a series. I was smiling all throughout playing this - it's just awesome goofy fun. The fun is not to be understated - I like the progression of obstacles / enemies, it was well balanced, and the touches like destructible terrain make it an overall satisfying game. Felt like I never knew what was ahead, but it was always surprising and hilarious. Can't get over those bears trying to punch me.

Only suggestions would be to make the slopes climbable (rather than hopping over tiny blocks), and the visual style more consistent - sometimes it was cartoony, other times it was just a solid texture. But overall, very nice work! I look forward to Nuclear Arms 5 :)

Solar Defence by w1n5t0n 2017-08-06T01:02:04Z

Difficult game! I actually like the feel of the jump mechanic - not sure if it was intentional, but the floatiness of it made for an interesting challenge. The only frustrating part was that I "stuck" to the sides of platforms, which slowed me down & caused me to lose a few times. Unique concept overall :)

LudumsWitch by Tommy 2017-08-06T20:26:31Z

I like that the shield pushes enemies away after you recharge it - very cool feature, but it took me a long time to actually reach that point. Cool game/concept overall - let's keep Ludum Dare going!

Energy Robot - A tale that never ends by Rixud 2017-08-08T04:50:18Z

Solid entry, I love the little robot and the sound effects. Would love to see more obstacles as you progress, but I enjoyed the challenge that came with speeding up. Well done! (high score: 255)

Ghost in the Machine by bmacintosh 2017-08-07T06:43:19Z

Unique game - I played through it partway by myself, but definitely think it would've been more fun with someone else. Impressed with the level of polish, and especially the graphics - important items stand out, which takes a lot of guesswork out of figuring what to interact with / how to interact with it. The pacing was slow, as some have mentioned, but think that would've changed with 2 people playing. Overall nice work - I especially like Beep and Boop, with their distinctive designs and cute walking animations. Nicely done!

Lost Connection by Cameron Taylor 2017-08-22T00:26:57Z

Unique entry. The fact that we only saw one person's messages without any (visible) replies told an interesting story in and of itself. Almost made it feel as if I was trying to escape these messages, and the level design / mazelike structure reinforced that feeling. Interesting storytelling techniques all around - the limited time frame added a finiteness & sense of urgency to something that might normally feel tedious. Music did a great job of solidifying the mood and tying things together. I didn't reach an ending (if there was one) but felt like I'd gotten the experience after one playthrough. Well done!

Displaced by oberynmartell 2017-08-11T03:35:33Z

Pretty ambitious for a game jam, but nice overall. Appreciated the auto-regenerating health, sandstorm warnings, and branching dialogue options. Really wish I had more control over the camera or it was angled differently - felt like I had no bearings of the world around me (though maybe that was intentional) and got lost a bunch. My favorite part was definitely the button - although not part of the main story (I think), it was creative and gave way for some interesting decision making. Nice work!

Shutdown by mahalis 2017-08-07T05:27:25Z

Enjoyed playing this! It's uncommon to see this level of polish in a compo entry, so that definitely made it stand out. Sound effects would've helped solidify the mood, but the music was dang good on its own. Kudos!

Radrover Snap!! by radmars 2017-08-11T03:53:32Z

Awesome to play a Snaplike, there aren't nearly enough of those in the world :D Major kudos on the graphics and world you created (or interpreted, maybe) - simple enough so as not to be distracting, but everything was very well modeled / animated and it made the world feel alive. The photo analysis could use some tweaking - sometimes the name it gave was different than the creature I had in the shot. But no complaints for the rest - very well constructed game, smooth controls, awesome intro and audio, and fantastic environment/graphics. Well done!

Star Slammer by AlexHoratio 2017-08-06T23:23:18Z

Ramming stars was fun, but collecting fuel was hard! I kept losing fuel when trying to collect fuel, but got used to it eventually. After a few tries, I managed to get the heat shield - but it was just as I died, so wasn't able to see what it did. Overall I enjoyed the game - nice music, solid controls, and an overall fast & fun trip through the galaxy.

Star Dodger Elite by emkiusz 2017-08-06T18:56:47Z

This game is awesome! Super polished for a compo entry - love the transitions between screens, and music + sound effects. Graphics and text are lo-fi, but everything fits together very nicely. I also didn't realize that you needed to grab the joystick to move (until reading the comments here), you may want to make that more clear. The "ejection bonus" was a nice touch - haven't seen anything like that before, and it gives the player an interesting decision to make. I played the HTML5 version because Mac, but I imagine the .exe is even better. Again, very nicely done for 48 hours - I had a blast playing!

Aphelion by vulpineblazeyt 2017-08-05T23:43:14Z

Fun game. I like the concept of the absorption beam. It did feel a bit drawn out at the end - I missed the music and was hoping it would continue ramping up in difficulty. Like others said, I enjoyed the story mixed in with this type of game. Nice work!

batteries included by unoion 2017-08-06T17:57:01Z

That last level was great. Fantastic level design all around, really enjoyed the puzzle platforming aspect and thinking about my strategy before moving. I wish there would've been more visual/audio cues (I didn't immediately see that the switch retracted the spikes), but that's a minor complaint. Visual style felt unified and I really like the battery sprites. Great interpretation of the theme, well done!

Self Preservation by spencerjp 2017-08-06T00:51:40Z

Big fan of the minimalist graphical style, agree that they fit the game well. I didn't actually realize I could drop bombs - my fault for not reading the description till after playing, but you may want to note it in the game somewhere. I also enjoyed the concept of stealing moves - felt very sneaky. Overall interesting game, nice work!

Orbiting Home by Zeknir 2017-08-06T19:39:05Z

I am verrry bad at this game - but had a lot of fun playing it :) I only managed to successfully orbit planets a couple times, but it was super satisfying to get it right. I think if I practiced more, I'd get better - will have to come back to it after rating some more games. The tutorial throws a lot at you, but the game obviously has a lot of depth - awesome that your team managed to get so much content/polish done, nicely done!

Blitztanz by haette 2017-08-06T00:04:37Z

I love the mechanic, super creative and lots of fun too. The feeling of being electrified and zapping all the enemies was super satisfying. Music would've been nice, but overall I was impressed. Would love to see this expanded upon!

Exodus: Fleet Commander by Saithir 2017-08-22T01:15:37Z

Nice work, and congrats on your first completed LD! As others have said, there's a lot of potential. I think there are interesting decisions to be made - whether to scout or jump, who to send on scouting missions, etc. - but it's not totally clear on what the trade-offs are. I also wasn't totally sure whether I had to wait or could send multiple scouts at once - the latter didn't seem to work, when I tried. Still, I had a surprising amount of fun playing this, well done!

Don't Click On Tiny Dudes! by Sleepless 2017-08-05T23:54:27Z

Funniest game I've played so far, dunno why but "don't click on tiny dudes" made me laugh. I clicked on them, of course. Wasn't clear to me either what the windmills did, so I ended up investing in people for the most part. Don't have access to a microphone at the moment, but hitting "s" and "h" seemed to work well. Love the commentary from the little dudes as well, nice game overall!

Soulviver by Wabble 2017-08-07T06:23:51Z

The intro was super polished and I very much enjoyed the sound effects. Gameplay was fun, though sometimes unforgiving - I feel like you had to line up your attacks/jumps perfectly. I liked the visual style and animations especially - I felt like they had character and added to the humor.

One small complaint - I kept hitting restart by accident when I meant to shoot (I was conditioned to hit it due to all my dying :P) - you may want to remove the option to restart mid-level, unless there's a good reason to keep it.

Great music as well, I love the percussion. Nice work overall!

Oppressiv Light by Yulirev 2017-08-06T00:23:47Z

Very nice game. Great job of creating a creepy atmosphere, I was definitely engaged and felt my heart race a bit. I played for a while but didn't end up beating it - my main criticism would be that it felt a bit repetitive. Still, definitely an impressive and unique game - great use of the theme as well!

I Am S.A.M by MachineTribe 2017-08-22T00:53:21Z

Interesting idea - I was only able to get one command in, but might've tried longer if the terminal scrolled automatically (the only way I was able to see new messages was to manually drag the scrollbar, which made me impatient after a while and eventually give up). I enjoyed the mood (especially the music) and believe there may be a compelling story to be discovered, but was missing direction and could've used more feedback.

Runnerbot LD39Entry by Pixel Game Wizard 2017-08-07T06:02:05Z

This game, I liked :) Haven't played a game like it before, enjoyed the fast pacing and split-second decision making. Music would've added a lot, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked the comments from the robots, but they weren't always readable against the background colors, and I sometimes wasn't able to read them in time. The procedural generation kept it fresh, and made the slew of obstacles interesting / kept me on my toes. Overall fun game, and impressive variety in terms of enemies / obstacles for 72 hrs. Well done!

dunkin' dogoos by Karai17 2019-05-20T01:20:18Z

I got a bit motion sick, but I dig the vibe of this game, and the music/sfx are top notch! Nicely done.

Gravy Train by pkenney 2019-05-20T01:04:01Z

Love the concept, I'm glad you made a weird game this time! I was definitely feeling the pressure and panicking when the train was slowing down. Sound effects are awesome, and graphics are just about perfect for a compo game - nice to look at and enough detail to tell what's going on. Well done!

My Life As Currency by johnicholas 2019-04-29T23:16:58Z

Lovely puzzlescript game - I liked the little text interludes as a way to break up gameplay & establish the mood. Can't say with confidence that I understand all the rules, but was still able to puzzle my way through it.

Dead Only by pilly 2019-04-30T06:01:53Z

@gear-steak appreciate the constructive criticism! What did you find to be most frustrating?

Dead Only by pilly 2019-04-30T07:23:40Z

I am so sorry I made it so hard  There are 14 levels total if anyone has the patience, hahaha. Appreciate all the feedback, keep it coming!

Dead Only by pilly 2019-04-30T18:51:59Z

@gear-steak I have embarrassingly never played Metal Gear, so I'd do best to study up on the classics if I'm to take this game further. I really appreciate the feedback!

Meds of Honor by anidealgift 2019-05-21T04:37:55Z

This knew exactly what it was, and was executed with style. Can't get over how awesome/fitting the graphics were. Really great entry!

Anguish by negativice 2019-05-21T03:45:09Z

This was fun! Interesting concept & good use of the theme - plus waiting for life to regenerate was not tedious, which was very much appreciated. Death animation was great, haha. A sound cue woulda been nice when your life has recharged, but overall very solid entry!

Vampire Drift by Shess 2019-05-21T02:40:29Z

Very nice! Nice-looking game, and appreciated the consistent visual style throughout. I liked the art style of the race track itself - not sure if I can put it into words, but the lines/strokes reminded me of speed and were well-suited to a racing game. The controls felt great, once I got the hang of em. Music/sound woulda helped solidify the mood, but overall a very nice entry!

The Coin's Unexpected Adventure by CharlieMrl 2019-04-30T07:09:51Z

Wow, this is amazing! I love your take on the theme and am angry I didn't think of it! Engaging and beautiful game - the environment was a joy to explore, I liked the feel of being an coin and just rollin' around, and appreciated that my curiosity was rewarded. Very well done!

(Also you may want to link to the Ludum Dare page from itch - I found your game on itch and had to do some googling to find this page)

Action RPG without proper title by xoxo4c756c75 2019-05-06T20:52:30Z

Nice concept overall! I was definitely keen to try again after losing, to a point. I think the starting area is well designed, not too big to be overwhelming, but well-organized and easy to jump back into the fray (apart from the waiting).

Soulbound by Dovakla 2019-05-20T00:24:04Z

Nicely done! I did have some issues with bugs (got into a state where I couldn't do anything after my companions died), but other than that I found it a solid entry. I especially liked the fast-paced nature of it & having to make quick decisions so that my soul doesn't run out - it's a fun mechanic! Nicely done.

Catch all the coins by Matu 2019-05-21T04:25:13Z

I won! Well, up until level 24. I definitely exploited the fast diagonal movement :D

BnB 666 by Darkmax14 2019-05-20T01:37:03Z

Lots of content - I didn't experience everything, but I really enjoyed what I did experience! Especially "I'm gonna poke you in the eye". And the battles/animations feel so smoooooth. Great entry!

The Walking Sim by dracodi 2019-04-30T06:44:33Z

I love your team's sense of humor :joy: Really nice looking game.

Fools Fortune by Gear Steak 2019-04-30T06:08:59Z

Love the art. Gameplay is interesting and I like the writing/"voice" of the game - I felt like I had a lot of responsibility! Music or ambient sound (a fire crackling?) would definitely help tie it together.

The Soul Broker by soundgnome 2019-05-19T23:57:24Z

The golem animation is SO GOOD. I really enjoyed the mood/atmosphere of this one. I thought there were interesting (in a good way) choices in terms of visual styles and thought they complemented each other quite nicely. Very nice entry!

Bogdan Grul's Huntless Month by gabriel_cardoso 2019-05-21T05:01:37Z

Took me a while to get, but I enjoyed it! Fullscreen does help.

If anyone's having trouble getting started: read the second paragraph on the instruction chart. You only need to drag/rotate one chalice for the simpler puzzles.

utsvulten by ditto 2019-04-29T22:47:37Z

Nice discovery elements. Very weird, very cohesive - I thought the music was just about perfect for the game, oddly calm. Well done! :eye::lips::eye:

Mr. Mewsifer's Malevolent Market by Faelim 2019-05-19T23:43:58Z

I'm very happy that your cat is a voice actor, I hope to see more of their work in the future.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Bless by Fatsheep 2019-10-10T22:31:33Z

The payoff is great. I was wondering what was going to happen as I was playing the game - are they going to turn on me? Am I going to have to go back and round up followers that I might have missed? The ending was better than I possibly could have hoped for. I did run into one camera-block, but was able to get out of it with some random clicking. Good color choices too.

0 by blaster391 2019-10-10T20:45:21Z

This is incredible. I was a little intimidated at first without knowing the controls, but everything explained itself so clearly that I never had a problem (and I really enjoyed discovering the controls/mechanics). All the pieces complement each other - I love the music progression especially; having cool music when you've unlocked your full potential is very satisfying. One of the best LD games I've ever played, thank you!

Draft & Doodle by DrEvilBrain 2019-10-16T04:11:28Z

Fun game! Just like Ludum Dare, your prize is your product :)

I usually do pixel art so thought I'd try paper this time. Wasn't gonna post it at first, but I enjoyed seeing other peoples' work, so why not.

The "theme generator" was a nice touch and saved me some mental energy (I got "object in the room" / "birds eye view", and limited it to 5 minutes). I feel like my particular theme/constraint combo worked, although the theme by itself might not have given me enough direction with another paired constraint. Guess it depends on the player though, and how much direction they want. Anyway, thanks for the game - it was nice to take my eyes off the screen for a change.

ZERO: UNDIVIDED HEROES by DjindeGames 2019-10-10T23:15:24Z

This was a fun one - great use of the theme, and fun to play overall. I also really like the design of the Zero; the belt/sash is genius. I appreciated the personality / differentiation between all the other numbers as well. The camera did make me feel a bit ill, but the music kept me coming back. Nice entry!

Spooky Cemetery by JGugino 2019-10-10T22:59:59Z

Some nice touches in this game - good atmosphere / spooky mood, inventory is nice, and overall easy to navigate. I found the keys, but gave up a while because I wasn't sure how long it was going to take me to find the next means of progression. My life was improved when I discovered you could press shift to go faster, but I didn't see any indication of that in the "controls" section. I liked the ghosts - they actually felt pretty spooky! I liked the environment and it was cool to stumble upon the temples/buildings, but woulda been even cooler if something happened when you found them, even if it was just some text. Nice game overall.

Genesis by SpacialSeasoning 2019-10-16T03:14:57Z

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I can't say I completely understood everything - I read the instructions a few times through, but I didn't quite have the patience to keep trying to learn in that way. That being said, I think I got the basics down - and started small, by placing 2 of one thing close together, then 2 of another thing...and there was a cool payoff! It was really cool seeing my little ecosystem grow and grow - and after I got the victory message, I clicked fastforward and enjoyed watching things unfold even more. Not the most accessible as others have mentioned, and I did run into a crash the first time I played (I was only placing plants at that point), but there's a surprising amount of depth and a cool payoff. I still have my little ecosystem up and running :)

Lost in the void by Bender Biber 2019-10-10T21:30:51Z

Graphics were charming, nice job on the models. I didn't realize there was a moving platform when I first got to it (because I just saw empty space / didn't wait long enough), so ended up jumping into the void the first time. Pretty fun game overall.

Also, I lost my hat.

Find the Controls by NunoRibeiro 2019-10-10T22:06:42Z

Interesting game, and trippy graphics. The graphics + music definitely create an interesting mood, though it's hard to put into words what exactly that mood is. Overall fun, and checkpoint spacing felt fair in that I never had to replay too much.

Succulentia by kenster 2019-10-16T05:31:03Z

Unique take on the shooter, I liked it :) Nice idea and all too real. Difficulty did seem a bit off - there were sections where it seemed to get a good bit easier after it got harder, which kinda broke up the pace. But the hard parts did have that nice hectic/frantic feel to them. I like the music too! Nice work overall.
