I like the graphics/art style and sound, reminds me of old runescape versions. The game is buggy, at the start of a game i tried to talk to an npc, but couldn't leave the talking screen, also the text box clipped with a house, so i couldn't see all the text. Later i realised that this was because i was using another resolution than the default and the buttons were hidden. The accepting and rejecting contracts is a very interesting and fresh mechanic, but I didn't bother reading the huge textboxes, because i really didn't understand what all the things there mean. The attack screen works well, though it's a bit messy sometimes.
I tried recruiting a bunch of demons and fighting some sinners, but after I would kill one sinner, I became unable to fight any other sinners. They would run into me but I wouldn't be taken to the fight screen. How are you supposed to collect additional souls?

The music was terrific and inspiring. The game is particularly interesting. But when you look at NPC, there's too much text.
You managed to pack quite a lot into such a small amount of time, good job. It could have done with a little bit more polish and slightly clearer instructions. Good job overall!

Hey, I'm sorry, I tried to play your game but I ran into some technical difficulties.
I play on a computer connected to a TV that only supports certain resolutions, and your game's UI elements seem to require a specific resolution or they go off screen and can't be activated.
Here's a screenshot of what it was like in combat mode for me: https://imgur.com/OJ4wDkp
I was trying to play with blind keystrokes but somehow that activated the guard conversation even during combat, and then I couldn't see the enemies I was fighting (more sinners off screen). I tried playing in windowed mode too but even more important UI was off the screen there (the yes/no to "do you want to hire me" which left me locked out of the game completely).
Sorry, I know you need reviews to get to your 20, but since I played so little of the game (just the initial town) I felt like I couldn't rate you.
If there's something different I need to do to get it to run with the controls on-screen, leave a reply mentioning my username, and if I have time before the deadline I'll give it a shot.
I commented here but did not rate since I didn't really get to play. But the graphics look really nice and the theme seems interesting, so I wish I could.

Nicely done! I did have some issues with bugs (got into a state where I couldn't do anything after my companions died), but other than that I found it a solid entry. I especially liked the fast-paced nature of it & having to make quick decisions so that my soul doesn't run out - it's a fun mechanic! Nicely done.

Woah this is really cool! Obviously there's some quirks in the implementation but the idea alone seems awesome, and what you did manage to make does a great job at conveying that core mechanic. Nice job!

@pkenney Yeah, I badly ran out of time so the menus don't scale at all. Thanks for your honesty.

That was pretty interesting. At first I recruited far too many demons and keps losing life way too fast :D
I liked that it felt like an RPG of old, but it was a strange glitch(?) that I could move while the battle was going on :D

an interesting graphic, and cool music. sadly I couldn't play the game fully due to the resolution problem ( to solve it simply go to the canvas and change the UI scale mode to "Scale With Screen Size"), the text also seemed very long you might want to make far away simpler. can't talk much about the combat due to screen issue but the gameplay needed to be clearer, I contracted everyone and I was still standing what does a - life mean? you should try to answer this question or make it more clear for the player. overall you did a good job get that much gameplay done in the short time given. all the best.

@4knights thanks for the advice! I had no idea that fixing that would be so easy. The negative health thing is a bug; thanks for pointing that out too. I fixed it and reuploaded to itch.
@pkenney the UI should work now if you're still interested.

I like this one a whole lot! You managed to make your game so complex for a jam game, it's always a breath of fresh air compared to all the other simple, quick games. The combo of sprites and 3D environment, octopath-style, I dig that a lot too! The only problem I have with this is that the demons that join you start leeching off your health the moment you get a pact with them, even though they're mostly useful out in the field. Another thing that was a minor annoyance was that there was no way of skipping dialogues. That got really annoying to sit through, especially with my health draining away. Overall, a good concept, ripe to be expanded on even more!

@corny thanks! The complexity came at the cost of content and real progression, unfortunately. Yeah, I probably should have made the dialogue skippable. At first I thought it would be sort of an extra challenge, like some of the puzzles in Minit, but it is probably too slow and repetitive.
