Hey please package the whole folder containing your .exe file into a zip and upload that. The .exe alone is not enough to play your game. Pls Tag me when you did that the game sounds interesting

@ausstein argh I'm sorry, none of us who worked on the game use windows so we weren't able to test that build, I just tried posting a new version but haven't been able to verify whether it works or not. Will reach out to some PC friends and let you know when we have a confirmed working windows build. Thank you for the comment! We did not know that build was broken and will try to fix.

Just played on windows, great game! Love the golem mechanic, nice play on the theme.

捕获.PNG Very interesting game, I couldn't help clearing customs. The way I played the game reminds me of the game I made on LD last year. The game fits the theme very well. The levels, graphics and animation are all very creative.

The golem animation is SO GOOD. I really enjoyed the mood/atmosphere of this one. I thought there were interesting (in a good way) choices in terms of visual styles and thought they complemented each other quite nicely. Very nice entry!

really enjoyed the game! awesome sound effects and interesting animation, especially when possessing the golem! controls were a bit tricky. i didn't really feel there was any sense of danger that my essence would run out before reaching the end of the level. nice game overall and cool take on the concept of the jam.

Nice little platformer, the golem posession mechanic was a nice addition to the game. You can probably take the posession mechanic further by exploring the possibilities outside of simply using the golem to move to higher platforms in the future. Other than that, really cool game with some very interesting aesthetics. Really loved the golem animations!

It's possible to drop the golem floating.

Evaluation...

1 - Mechanics and Learning: The mechanics are very simple, intuitive and well implemented. I quickly learned everything I needed to know to get through the two stages of the game.

2 - Flow: The learning was fast and there was little challenge, the game was short so I did not feel bored; It was good to show the concept. In a post-jam version, I suggest you rework about the difficulty of the stages. The part that annoyed me was having to redo several parts, because I took the risk of getting off the standard path; that is, I did not feel rewarded for exploring (with secret things, items etc); I understand that in jam time this is not easy to do, so this also comes as a suggestion for a post jam version.

3 - Narrative and Polishment: The narrative was presented through written text (pleonasm). I believe that some graphic elements have passed the notion of "dream world", however this can be improved with the insertion of secondary characters (perhaps personifications of thoughts of the own character, of the last boss or of other personages (directly or indirectly related to the narrative context The main character was very simple, maybe he could be reworked (and also his narrative depth, with personality etc.) The main character in controlling the golem it was a very beautiful and interesting animation (as I see it). The music does not pay much attention, so it played the role of the background (maybe in the post-jam version it can be further worked and enriches the experience).

4 - Culture: I remembered "sleep paralysis" when I read the narrative for the first time. I think the game can take advantage of this theme and other interesting themes related to sleep and dream to generate a community of players (maybe with a Facebook page, invite me to enjoy it if I create it).

5 - Monetization: I imagine the game can be sold on smartphones or on Steam full case (more levels, polishment and narrative deepening). As I see it: it would be sold only once (maybe with free or paid DLCs over time).

Nice idea, like mentioned before, you could take the possession mechanic further by introducing different golems.

I really liked the paper-crafty feeling in the golem graphics and the animations on the main character. The mood was well conveyed by the music.

The controls were a little jerky, as well as the camera movement. You might want to look into LERPing the camera a little bit, and if it doesn't ruin the controls, try experimenting with using acceleration instead of directly moving the sprite with arrow keys.

Good: Overall nice design. Golem animations were very good. The music was on point with the game. And, it is made with Godot  cheers. To Improve: A bit too easy, but the last level actually gave me some headache.

What a strange game :D But likeable, for sure. I liked the design of the Golem the most :3

matu 2019-05-21 05:06

I really liked the mechanics of the game

pablotitan 2019-05-21 11:17

It has some really great graphics ideas, but bundled together it doesn't seem like a one vision for me, though I really like the golem and the protagonist. Nice game ;)

This was a clever effort right here. A great take on a platformer with a nice twist thanks to the ludum theme! Props for using godot as well! drop your game in our discord for those last minute ratings! https://discord.gg/RcpwD64
