Tried to play three times before doing the review.
Nice art style, responsive controls and overwall a nice gameplay but for me some things in the game seems not working properly.
I couldn't understand when/why my life drains (actually it only happen when starting the race), all abilities didn't drain life and excluding the boost don't seem to have any effect mechanically, only visually, talking about the boost the camera begins to behave a little weird after using it, like upside down (I gues that a solution could be using a multiplicative percentual factor or just a limit to the distortion of the zoom out feature). Overall the issues seems relative to the small time window of the LD.
Congratulations for your submission and would be nice to play a patched version of the game :D
I've got that camera glitch too. But anyway, it was fun playing your game. Keep up the good work!
^o^
I absolutely loved it. The interface was well fleshed out and explained what every item was, but the quality of the racing mechanics totally caught me off guard. I was not expecting to see such a well refined drift mechanic, let alone great enemy AI in a Ludum Dare game! Awesome job!
@samlecreator Thank you so much for your feedback! We kinda bit off way more we could chew, but it's extremely satisfying to hear we managed to accomplish something ^^
The game was fun, but I looked for it while I was playing it, but I couldn't find it. The camera often expands suddenly. So I had a hard time playing games. I think there are too many items. The keyboard is not a good choice to select the desired item by pressing 1, 2, 3 and 4. I think it's better to tap the number of items and use a text keyboard instead of a numeric keyboard.
The graphics are great. It was also good because of the speed characteristic of the car racing game. Thank you for your efforts.
Very nice! Nice-looking game, and appreciated the consistent visual style throughout. I liked the art style of the race track itself - not sure if I can put it into words, but the lines/strokes reminded me of speed and were well-suited to a racing game. The controls felt great, once I got the hang of em. Music/sound woulda helped solidify the mood, but overall a very nice entry!
buggy, but not bad. i made it through 3 races i think before the ai completely bugged out and was driving into a wall. The art is beautiful.
As others have said, there's some bugs here but this is a remarkably fleshed out racing game for a weekend.
The lack of audio is a real shame, as some good racing sounds would really juice this up. It's also be nice to have some more info in the HUD - position, laps remaining, etc.
I've got a real fun in this game :D The graphics are really cool, everything in one style - that's great! :)
This is a really fun and polished game. Impressive management of time to get all those assets in. Really consistent as well! Awesome!
Really cool! The driving and drifitng physics felt pretty polished already. Had a lot of fun driving around. The art is also astonishing. Really great style and detail, especially the course itself and the character portraits. Good job! The rest of the gameplay was a bit lacking though. It apperead as if there wasn't really a goal. Does the race end at some point? There was no lap indaction and I've driven for some time without anything happening. also, the balancing seems to be off a lot. The one female char is overpowered beyond believe. After I've picked her, I was first place without any chance for the others to catch up. Items seemed pretty useless as well. No need for them if you are that fast ;)
All in all, nice concept but asatisfying gameplay loop is missing for me. Good job nontheless!
The main mechanics of driving are excellent! The track design lets you use the drifting well (If you have the skill that is...) A few things that could improve the game would be a tutorial (Unfortunate you couldn't have added on in, but with some trial and error I figured it out pretty quick so no real problem) The actual graphics style was great, but the substance was lacking. Like I liked what was there I just wish there was more. Some backgrounds for the track would have been good but of course... TIME LIMITS! Anyway adding some of that story into the actual game would be nice but again... TIME! All in all, great game! Just wish there was more stuff.
The driving felt alright and when enemies were there, quite intense. I was a little confused about whether I'm supposed to kill all the other competitors or finish the laps. I was first impressed by the lap indicator, but then confused with it after I noticed it didn't go all the way back to the start when I finished a lap.
The AI-drivers turned right into the wall at the beginning at just stayed there. A shame. I liked the controls and the drifting. Felt good. Wanted some opponents to test my skills against.
Pretty good, but sometimes the camera zoomed out a lot and then flipped everything (possibly zooming out to a negative number?).
