This was awesome! I love the graphics and the audio. I found that the bullets curving around the planet was really clever and I found that the enemies really funny and fun to shoot. Any way keep up the good work solid 4 outta 5.
I found this really fun but there was no sound might be a problem on my end but Im not sure. This was good and if you keep developing this it could be awesome. Overall 3 outta 5
Love the art but I found the music a bit bland and the sound FX a bit annoying but great game. I found the controls confusing at first but I got it after a while. overall a 4
This was awesome! Theme and mood 5 outta 5 but it didn't do it for me in the innovation and fun but overall 4. Good job
This was a silly little game and could be something really cool. Sometimes the controls froze, player 2 specifically. This was fun and gets a solid 4 outta 5.
Thanks to everyone who reviewed my game, an all new version is in the works. It may go some where or not. I don't know but thank you all.
"PLEASE STOP GIVING ME CATS I HAVE 19 ALREADY!" - Me as I fix two couches while a scientist gives a science cat. Cool little game.
"GOTTA GO FASTER FASTER, OH GOD STOP GOING FAST" - Me discovering Sanic mode, This is a game for iPhone and just to waste time, and I mean that in the best possible way. The graphic are crude but effective and the music is jamming. The gameplay is the real meat of this game and it's fun.
This is a great game. The animation is fluid and boobtastic. I want more really is probably the best way to put how I feel about this game. Music would be cool, but this has lot's of potential.
"Hello stranger do you wish to join my army?" Me pretending to be some mad noblemen going to attack the evil dude with strangers of the street. Really cool top down shooter with a cool little twist of gaining more men, I really like the storing men for later use idea and have them work the mines.
Hey, I feel like this idea is similar to mine. I like the way you executed the police capture and the game's mood it's really fun and goofy. The graphics are simple and fun as well as the music.
26, pfff I'm barlely even not sober. Great game. A phone game for sure.
"Say hello to my friend, punchy." Kurt Brodlington after stabbing a man to death. Very funny game, honestly love it. More combos and the like would be good but hey, cheesy action moive dialogue over actual action any day,
Adorable little resource game with bugs, though I don't understand how it relates to the theme, it seems the more you have the better it is but maybe I'm playing it wrong. The music is adorable the graphics are adorable and it's just adorable. Although I started thinking myself of dictator of these bug people but maybe that's what I do.
Cool little game, though I couldn't figure out how to keep the toxic gases from killing me. Feels like following a cooking recipe which can be fun.
@edword Ha that's what I did.
ALL HAIL LORD TRUMP, HE OUR SAVIOUR HAS FOUND A SOURCE OF FOOD IN THESE TRYING TIMES!!!! Great game, I would play this on a phone on the way home on a train or something, 10/10
Very fun game, interesting controls that can be frustrating at times, Graphics simple and bold good for a reflex game like this. The controls would have been easier to use with a guidance line or something, Anyway very good
"KEEP SHOOTING DON'T STOP SHOOTING UNLESS YOU GET SHOT OUT OF THE ROOM" - Me laughing my ass off as I shot into the void. Great fun little game, I would have kept playing until I got shot out, more levels and music would elevate this game.
Very fun game, arcade worthy indeed. I like the chibi style and the Edm music. I will play this again.
Very Cool! If the gold had more of a use I feel it would provide more incentive, the music and graphics are simple but are quite effective, the graphics show what's what and the music gives a frantic vibe. Overall very good.
"Where did my money go?" Me after placing 500 carrots on the ground. Cute and relaxing game to play, really a nice time waster game and I mean that in the best possible way.
"WHY ARE YOU SO SLIPERLY FATMAN! I NEED TO GET YOU AWAY FROM THE GORRILA! AHHHHHHH" Me getting frustrated while the fatman refuses to move with the boat. Fun little game, more levels and maybe even upgrades.
A cutesy platformer, would work as a mobile game. I don't see how it involves the theme but I still enjoyed it.
Fun little shooter game that has really cool graphics. More levels like any game in ludum would be really cool.
This is a fun little puzzle game, cute little art style and the menu had some fun music. More puzzles and mechanics would be nice but this is ludum dare so this is still impressive. I actually wanted to play more, so good job!
A cool little find and seek kind of game, I can see the fun in running around spewing tornados and killing spiders, This follows the theme quite well, more tornados harder to do things. I can see this going somewhere, more levels more vacuum weapons and this could be a very fun game
I didn't understand the personal space mechanic, the colours were meaningless to me (Forgive me if I just didn't see the instructions but they weren't pointed out to me) And an In-Game explanation of the mechanic would have been nice, also music would have been cool. Also also just thought I'd show you this
Peeps.PNG
I LOVE THIS GAME, couldn't solve a puzzle so I had to quite at book 2.314 but man... this was sure paradoxical.
Simple, short, sweet... All words I'd use to describe shortbread AND this game. The graphics are simple, to the point, and the misc is Ye' Olde Fashioned chip tune, A note about the sound... THE TRIDENT IS WAY TOO LOUD. I think this game with a bit more complexity could be a solid fighting game, nothing major just a few combos and more ways to dodge, like give ME a way to do the double trident and don't just let me spam the trident infinity. Overall, pretty ok.
This... this is an MS Paint Fever dream after a night of watching Monty Python and Ricky Gervais. Also after not cheating (Possibly lying) on the helichopter puzzle and I was looking at the menus, It went to Balloon burnt and I laughed my ass off at that. Might have been a glitch, but a damn funny one.
Funny, Gory, Hard to place to cannon and launch in the WBGL version. 16/10 IGN Serious this game was mad funny, but kinda boring without any music or anything other than make guy go higher... Great idea, needs some polish.
PLEASE ADD A GO BACK TURN FEATURE... I got frustrated by making ONE, ONE little mistake. But other than that I like what you did with the whole pushing boxes mechanic, I especially like how you themed it to viruses SO well that my computer's in built anti virus said IT WAS a virus. So good job... and the difficultly wouldn't be so bad if you could just go back a couple of turns rather than starting the level over again.
I think this idea had some potential if there was some sort of challenge to the matching, rather than just remembering who wants to do who. And as others have said, art nice, but hand broke. Overall, sorry to say, but this is a boring game, but it IS lewd... so success there
Murdering innocents hasn't been this fun since the sims 3... What you did that too. Anyway, good game! Never felt like there was any need to book in guests quick, maybe I didn't notice... But it was well fun murdering people right after they booked in. MUSIC, would have been nice but hey... what can you do. And SFX but again.. what can you do. Great game, bit more polish and wabang you got yourself a good distraction for half hour or so
This is AWESOME, techno beat downs and neon lights around man this game got some REAL potential. But some iddy biggy tiddy problems I had was that the controls were real sensitive, meaning I had a lot of trouble tryin to pick up the power ups, but other then that, this awesome.
What can I say, the pictures are pretty. The music FEELS boxey, so that is fitting. One thing to note I had a one tree be in the foreground of the buildings but behind the character, after getting three of my little dudes.
RUNNING REVIEW.EXE Fun game, played until round 9 then I got bored, Music, BAMS and more SFX would have extended my play time easily, but hey you had 48 hours and This is a neat little game. ENDING REVIEW.EXE
What can I say, I ran out space. Simple game concept (Attack enemies until dead) but I like the twist that you throw baddies to stop the baddies. The ambience is very limbo esqe and the piano man, spoopy.
@naemis true that, true that.
Fun game! The controls were a bit clunky but the idea was interesting and the graphics are great! Some AI would have been nice, since I was unable to get anyone to play, but this has a lot potential!
Fun game! I'd say this could work brilliantly as a phone, perhaps with more upgrades and reason for getting souls rather than just to win, have a cookie clicker esqe system where souls can buy graveyards to get more souls (Or whatever) The graphics are basic and slightly unclear at times (I think a glitch caused one of the squares to not show the person I was affecting a couple of times)
The factions (In my experience) always seem to dislike me less and less and I didn't really notice aside from the bar going down (Except triangle bro but we cool) Also if I had more choice in who I affected rather than just spamming the turn button until snail bros or police bros showed up (I never felt like I was affecting the other two, I must have since the void did go down) And as @erasmus-crowley said, More actions, More factions, more buildings and more events! This is a very expandable game and with some polish could be great!
A game that could be MASSIVELY improved by some graphics in the blue space. A little over head view of my tripe and how there doing. The base game play loop is alright but needs some PUNCH to the action, I didn't really notice my turns progressing or my actions happening. Add these things, boom! 100% better. But as it is right now it's ok, but lots of room for improvement. (I realize time restraints prevented these, but if you pursue the game further I hope you add these in!)
@apple-dash Thanks for the comment! The scaling didn't go as well as I hoped, I wanted to add more enemies but ran out of time (Plight of all ludum dares) There a reward! Just didn't communicate it well, he gives you health for every single person you have ever given him
(Example you give him 1, you get 0.1 back, next time you give him 2, he gives you 0.3 back, etc)
And there is a good ending! Just don't sacrifice people (It's hard I haven't done it but it's possible)
The tutorial was meant to be kinda mysterious but some more explanation of the games mechanics wouldn't hurt. I'm just really bad at UI programming! So I'll try to shrink that down if I ever do more on this game. And I wanted more creepy music, again ran out of time.
Thanks for the commment!
Just a note for the windows version, the UI on the left side covers up a bit of the island, just so you know.
Interesting concept! A literal interpretation of the theme with an interesting implementation. The game was a good length, the concept works for a single play through rather than many levels. Simple but appealing graphics but the music was repetitive and simple. I found myself reading the letter and thinking it was Lilly 6 and I tried to pick her, ended up sacrificing. So after understanding I sacrificed everyone except my 2nd guess which turned out to be right. But overall, good short little game! Edit: Also the key choice was a bit odd, F to sacrifice and L for letter got me confused, might just be me however.
Interesting! It reminds me of something like cookie clicker, as in, building up points to get new things to see how they look. I especially like the cube look, the little animal cube fellas look nice and cute! The music is alright but I found myself turning it off for a while. Also When I put two cubes in before I was supposed to in the tutorial and it glitched out, also when I clicked the blue cube button it started the highlight group selection thing (Might be my mouse but figured I'd point that out) Anyhow great game!
@amanda-priest The exact same thing I tried with my first attempt at music!
Did I play a game or a vegan recruitment simulator? Simple game, the core gameplay loop (Sorry to say) isn't all that fun. But with some tweaking it could be. Make the map bigger, add some puzzles to get to some of the food and boom, got yourself an interesting little puzzle game. The graphics were... creepy, which for the first room seemed out of place but made sense when the first... boom... happened. Small game with some potential, but as it is now it's only mediocre. (Just wanna try and give some advice, sorry if it's a bit harsh)
An observation game! It took a second play through to realize this (I didn't bother with the help the first time so it was my fault) I loved the music and graphics, they fit with the game theme and the way you used the Jam Theme in the game was interesting. I liked the humor as well, the little beginning of day blurbs gave me a chuckle or two. Overall, I reckon the game could be expanded upon with a few new elements and things to sacrifice. Overall, great game!
An interesting concept, taking the whole sacrifices must be made concept to a more personal level. But the puzzles where basic and I found most of the challenge coming from the font. I also thought it was too short (I accidentally played it 3 times without realizing I had) But as a base, this has plenty of potential for a puzzle game with a wacky little concept, just needs more outcomes and more choices/puzzles.
Gave me a Oddworld: Abes Odyssey vibe. Love the simple pixel art. The tense mood is consistent throughout. The gameplay is fun. All in all, I like it! Only real critique would be making the text a LITTLE bit more noticeable, I ran right past the text telling me to press the buttons so my guys could come with (In the tutorial). Took me a bit to figure out how to get them out but that could be more my fault for running past than yours for it not being visible enough.
All I can say is that I have knowledge that will prove useful in time. Great humor, bland game play, but fits with the joke so it only enhances the humor. Great job on the game! Only thing I could recommend is perhaps a bit before you play the quiz where you can learn about stuff, that way you can have harsher limits and more difficult questions. But what you have now is great!
The main mechanics of driving are excellent! The track design lets you use the drifting well (If you have the skill that is...) A few things that could improve the game would be a tutorial (Unfortunate you couldn't have added on in, but with some trial and error I figured it out pretty quick so no real problem) The actual graphics style was great, but the substance was lacking. Like I liked what was there I just wish there was more. Some backgrounds for the track would have been good but of course... TIME LIMITS! Anyway adding some of that story into the actual game would be nice but again... TIME! All in all, great game! Just wish there was more stuff.
This was fantastic. Honestly this could probably be put on steam... utterly fantastic
I would have used Itch.io but due to unfortunate timing (Stuck at school who have blocked it) I've had to use Google Drive, hopefully it should work!
@gward2489 Was supposed to be a pencil, but thank you!!!
@rjhelms Thanks, the game was always meant to be a little... silly.
@samh Yeah botched... Totally intentional. The reason for the two moves was because this was actually supposed to be a FIGHTING GAME (I know right?) Anyway I couldn't get it working so I just kinda made a stupid plat former with silly humor in mind.
@acearcher Thanks for playing! I have no idea why the animations turned out so good but hey, if its good its good!!! Also there is a "Good" and "Bad" ending depending on how much money you have at the end haha.
To the anonymous commentor, Yes I know it's bad style and I apologise but I really wanted to get a proper ranking this time and due to a busy school schedule I didn't have any real time (Without sacrificing grades) to play and rank games, I did try my best to rate the games I could play fairly and give valid and useful critique.
@udo Thank you so much for playing! I would have wanted to do mac, linux and web versions but I don't know how to do that on game maker. Thanks for playing!
Instructions, brave music choice (Turned it off myself) (Was on HTML So it lagged a bit) would dramatically improve this game. But in terms of design, make the character stand out more (I thought the player icon was an upgrade) and make it a bit clearer whats going on. Overall, lots of improvement on a good concept. Keep at it
Great artstyle, not sure the music fits (I feel like something more goofy would fit better), game play is basic and perhaps more things to craft would make it a bit more interesting (Perhaps orange juice, demons that want the opposite of what they ask for, ya know more puzzle elements) However the concept fits the theme quite nice. Overall I feel with some more items to craft, more characters to please and I feel like you could make a great game!
Cute graphics, basic gameplay. All the puzzles (Except the final level) were pretty basic (No offense I know how hard it is to come up with interesting puzzles in one of these is) But the base could allow for something really interesting. Also, a rewind 1 turn button would be helpful when puzzles got really different.
I like. Add a death/game over screen and it's be fantastico!
Love the art, love the concept. More thing to do would boost this game a LOOONG way. More places to take money from, more illegal things you could do (Of course it's unreasonable to expect any more but this is for if you ever decide to update the game) I see this as some sort of Mini GTA1, you go around stealing money, completing missions but with the ever looming time limit that keeps you moving. Anyway games with Anime Girls in them get the seal of approval from me.
Great concept, lack of polish and depth. Use this base and make some more stuff with it, cause this could be a fantastic puzzle game! (I feel this game would fit on mobile phones)
I only played the first couple levels so forgive me if this changes later in the game but I think a bit more visual variety would go a long way, perhaps different backgrounds and instead of looking into the sky perhaps looking down into various landscapes? And dunno if this is a glitch but when I hovered over the blade in edit mode I could still blow up the balloon lol. But fun game!
@xfinktion Thanks for the advice! Glad you liked the writing considering that was most of the game ;P
@incobalt Thanks! I wanted this to be a puzzle game but turns out I'm bad at coding and making puzzles (maybe I should have picked a genre I knew how to do). The themes of the demons go like this (it's loose cuz I was making it up as I went on lol) Red guys: Angry brutal dudes, that's why they are the mean ones Green guys: Sloth/Gluttony, flabby lazy cow kinda things Yellow guys: Assholes, I dunno just kinda mean Blue guys: Deranged Pink gals: Horny. Satan: Satan And in the beginning I was gonna have it your the only blue guy in a red world but then I decided to add more colour.
@endurion Thank you! I know it's got no gameplay, I wanted it to be a puzzle game but puzzles are hard and I am dumb ;p. Glad you liked the NPC's!!
@fatpenguin Thank you! I wanted it to be spooky and gloomy which is why I made the fog of war effect
@dan-thompson Thanks! I wanted more of that too but I was outta time so I added more of the demons cuz that's all I really had.
@fabula-rasa I wanted to make it a fancy spooky puzzle game but by about midnight before the deadline I only had the fetch quest and talking, so I just added a buncha funny talking stuff. Puzzles are hard to code when you've never done them before lol. Yeah like I could have made it transtion with like a half dark but it works still haha. Thanks for the feed back!
I was actually really tense playing this game, add some kinda twist and a strong hook of some kind in the beginning. You could make a really good horror game with this kinda style, beepy audio and freaky sketches give off this vibe of "somethings off." Try and build on that concept and you'll end up with something really creepy and freaky. If that's not what you were going for, sorry! Just an idea
Thanks for the sad ending :( But good game!
Nice tower defence game! Here's some random suggestions that might help. 1) The grass texture, the way I make it seemless is by offsetting by half in the x and y. Then blurring the middle then badda bing badda boom. Seamless (kinda) 2) Perhaps some drawings for the text pop ups? The artstyle could work quite well for a childrens book aesthetic, perhaps an overly plump devious mayor or something? Hope these help!
Simple and polished! All ya need sometimes. Glad you thought about my intial strat of just jumping and poking by adding the peasents, so good lad.
I was suprised at how good this was! Add some more levels, add some polish and add more mechanics this could make a really good puzzle game! Gives me some real baba is you vibes.
Quick thing that might help your game, add some bullets or a muzzle perhaps? Some kinda line that shows where your shooting better would really help.
It's a very simple game which I actually see having some potential. Here are some things I reccomend you trying to improve what you've already got, these are purely ideas that you might not have thunk of. (I know you probably didn't have time to do these but in case you wanted to expand on it) 1) Switch the models! Make the purple spinny cubes cystrals of somekind. The cube in your hand to a sword and the following cubes changed to little goblins and such. 2) Link the health bar to screen. 3) Add a main menu that explains the goal of the game. 4) Perhaps some light platformer elements to make certain purple cystrals more difficult to reach.
These are just suggestions to give you some stuff to think about.
@jk5000 Thanks for the comment! And this was my first unity game I actually "completed" so I'm not suprised it feels unfinished.
A fun arcade game that could use some enemy variation or mechanic variation to spice up further play sessions, if you were to develop this further anyway. For a gamejam game, really fun!
From when I played this there weren't any tutorials in game or outside (Please let me know if this changes so I can give it another shot!) so I wasn't able to progress at all, I tried making some solider/worker ants but kept being told "Not enogth food" and I could see where food could be found.
But the pixel art was really good! Reminded me of early 32bit(?) PC graphics.
An interesting concept, an Arcade survival game! It was fun juggling the hunger, raft building and growing trees. An idea for potentially more levels would be juggling more mechanics, either within florida or other flooding areas of the world, stuff like maintaining bridges, needing more materials, needing to grow materials for the raft itself due to more people. Overall this concept has a lotta potential and is currently a fun little browser game.
Fun little arcade game, wish I could turn further off the bat because feels like I barely have any control.
@patvanmackelberg Thank you! I was tryna go for an urban quirky vibe so quite EB inspired
@patvanmackelberg Thank you! The bugs happened because I was dumb and didn't make a good universal event manager and rather worked out the state based off a million if statements.
@muzakefron Thank you so much! I am aware of the bugs and if I had time would have completely redid the event manager to make everything much smoother and simpler.
@jason-wilson Thank you so much! Game jams and bugs go together like strawberries and cream :p
@prodigalson Thanks! I didn't wanna just do the "going further down" premise I figured everyone else would be taking. I wasn't 100% on my own dialog system worked due to making it in a midnight stuppor so it resulted in it not working someitmes. I hope to polish this up a bit once I get the time
@foursay It's an oldie but a goodie
@silkworm-sweatshop Glad you liked it~ Dave and his lemons worked at one point... about 14 hours and 7 characters before the build your playing however.
@srynetix Glad you liked the two things I focused on! Glad you explored a couple options!
A really fun game! It was fairly easy throughout (Which considering it's a Jam game is fair enough) But the final level felt difficult and fair still. All throughout I was hoping more gimmicks or mechanics would be thrown at me or the main mechanic could be explored more, more levels where changing one part alters everything else so instead of moving everything all the way to the left, right, top or bottom more balence would be needed (Though the final level did this).
The editing graph mechanic took awhile for me to get used to and caused some frustrations as I kept pressing spacebar to edit the graph rather than E.
Overall, Office/10
I really like this intpretation of the theme, going deeper and deeper into floppy discs. Add some narrartive around this concept and flesh out the mechanics (More investgaty stuff around the office in order to find more floppies perhaps?) and you'll have a fun little indie game.
I beat Puggsworth but I'm not sure what I won exactly, did I get to keep the tokens? It didn't seem like I was getting any stronger while playing since I played against Puggsworth a couple more times and didn't feel anymore powerful. Some more clarity would be appreciated!
The art on the game was great, really goofy and cartoony, along with the premise and setting. With some more polish and content I think this could be really good!
Simple puzzle game interpretation of the theme, I like where you were planning on going but could do with some polished graphics and more mechanics, and a quick tutorial in the menu would be appreciated. Overall, has potential.
Very spooky game/10
Honestly was on the edge of my seat waiting for an anemsia monster to pop out and start chasing me but (As far as I played) that didn't happen. I only managed to get to the second level, couldn't find the key to unlock the chest however me giving up so quickly was because of my unease and not wanting to get spooked more.
From a atmosphere persepctive, this game is a fantastic intpretation of the theme, however gameplay was lacking in what I played, since it could be boiled down to looking around and picking things up. Some new gameplay elements might help with that if you consider developing this further.
Love the twist on the theme, the concept could go a lot further with more mechanics (Though perhaps I haven't seen all this game has to offer due it repeatedly closing on me after a minute)
@denatus I should have written this down somewhere, you can change levels on the main screen (The screenshot of the game I have) using the cyan and red arrow buttons at the right of the screen. There are only 3 planets in this version.
@pauljohnprogramming Thank you so much for your insightful comment! You CAN beat the rock planet without the drill, however I realize now that I may have made it a bit too difficult to figure out (You can destroy a rock, then go to the cliff to hover over the slightly shorter pile) You can get a total of 5 mining bots using the crystals you get from ALL of the levels (There are 5 crystals per level), so in order to get the final jetpack upgrade you need to perfect every level.
Overall, surprisingly fun. Could've benefited from a brighter pointer (I lost it a lot while playing during the dark bits) and an auto fire.
I find the jerking camera motions a bit disorientating espically since you have such a limited view of your boxes. Smoother transitions and some kind of overall view would help out a lot I think.
